Honda Vezel part 31

The existing Tucson doesn't look that appealing I feel.

Its quite dated compared to vezel. Ever considered sportage ? I really like it.

Yes Kia sportage not bad but i recall i was put off by the chrome door sills?

Existing Tucson looks strong but yes its already a few years old so definitely not as updated a look as vezel. However, the bigger engine gives more power which is my preference.

I dont know, maybe end up with an ML350 or X3 or Q5 in the end......but the Vezel is a nice looking proportionate car and can save so much money.....hhhhhmmmmmm..

How about new qashqai? Anyway no hurry at all, my wife's car COE til late 2008

Hybrid is priced higher because it's Cat B COE. Same thing applies, if the CEVS rebate is increased from current levels, price will adjust accordingly from current listed.

    Bro..PM me and we chat?

Waaa... cu2 also a family car leh

And its a totally different animal. I'm sure u will miss it

Actually family car for a start. It's more utilitarian and saves alot for running costs. Ran my numbers. Will save between 2.5-3k on petrol/rd tax/insurance per yr. For comparison basis with cu2,i add that to depre numbers. Gd outcome. Also planning for the next real family car..most prob MPV. Wife car slaughtering in 1yr time.gotta start saving. More of a financial decision too. CU2 is a lovely car. Next owner sure love it. Huge space! My weekly manually calculated mileage is 11-12km/l 50/50 city n expressway driving. Amazing for K24 engine

Bro hows the power compared to civic? Can get used to it?

I drove the 2007 Civic before switching to Vezel. Personally, I feel that Vezel tends to sway to one side a bit more when cornering compared to Civic. Probably due to higher CG.

Mcmxii, I have not run in the engine yet, hence, I could not commend much about the power. Try not to push the RPM pass 2500. Nevertheless, my initial feel is that the car seems to drag a little at pick up. My wife felt it as well when she drove the car. From that observation, the 1.8 Civic fares better in this department. Having said that both car have different transmission gearbox. CVT on the vezel tends to drag at lower gears.

    CARBON EMISSIONS-BASED VEHICLESCHEME (CEVS)

The Carbon Emission-Based VehicleScheme (CEVS)takes into consideration a vehicle's carbon emissions and fuel efficiency to encourage consumers to shift to low emission models.

Cars with low carbon emissions will qualify for rebates, which are offset against the car's ARF payable. Cars with high carbon emissions will incur a corresponding registration surcharge. Cars are also subject to a minimum ARF payable of S$5,000 as models that have relatively low ARF payable and are in themselves fuel-efficient, do not need to be further incentivised.

The CEVS rebates will apply to all new cars and imported cars registered from 1 January 2013. The CEVS surcharges will be implemented from 1 July 2013.

The CEVS is valid till 30 June 2015.

To All Bros listed below. This is for your awareness.

Do check back with your PI dealer, what will happen if LTA promote your ride banding.
Don't just keep quiet. It is your money.

For those who got your ride recently, Please do go to LTA One Motoring website to check your vehicle asset information.
    - If the CEV rebate value is at 10K then it is alright.
    - If it is at 15K, please do something to recover back. How? I am not sure.
    - If you have to file a complain to LTA or Case, please do so.

From this lta data you can see for the month of november 2014
Honda Vezel X OMV is 19K+

    nov_omv1_zps08e243f5.jpg

Again from LTA data basic car cost you can see for:

    OMV of $19,154
    gst of $5,440
Tiered ARF Payable $19,154 (because OMV is less then $20K - no additional tier charges)
At the moment Before yesterday CEV announcement change Vezel CEV is Band A3 ($10K)
    Reg Fee $140
Excluding COE, Dealer Pay LTA $33,888

    Add Misc Fee = X
    Current COE = Y

    Total Car Cost X + Y + $33,888.

Just want to share one hiccup just happened. While my wife was letting me off the car, she pressed the start/stop button instead of the hazard light. The next moment, we have difficulty start the engine. Come to think of it, while I am writing now, the car was very close to the car park's barrier. Wondered whether this is the auto slam break function that some bros spoke about in the earlier post.

The situation was quite frightening eespecially when you see a long queue of cars sounding the hone.

Hi bro, never had this combination before, but seems very likely because of the CTBA function. My situation was

    • near barrier, flat ground. CTBA activiated. auto brake with very load sound
    • near barrier, up slope. CTBA activate. engine cut off, car roll back. quickly step on brake.

any bros have any idea on Qashqai price

Hi bro, i have test drive the Qashqai 2L back in Aug and can only compare with this. But frankly, a 2L engine is after all a 2L engine, quite difficult to compare with a 1.5L engine. The pick up is not as good as it is pulling a 1.9 ton monster but upon reaching cruising speed is fantastic. The engine sound smooth, quieter and has better sound insulation all round. The mono roof and electrical seat is a wonderful feature.

With Vezel 1.5L, I find the engine and sound insulation a little louder. But on looks, Vezel beats Qashqai hands down in both interior and exterior. Vezel looks like a 2 door SUV with the shark fin top. The only losing point on exterior is the rear, where Qashqai has LED lights.

For the 1.2 Turbo, I read in Qashqai forum that TC has taken out a lot of features to make this more affordable and to compete with Vezel and S Cross. The 2L is Make in UK and has many problem with the AC setting and Audio Unit.

My decision in choosing Vezel is more on budget and secondly on the looks. For Qashqai pricing, it's best if you call TC to enquire.

Hi Bro, are you referring to CTBA or engine stopped while the gear is in 'D' mode? Because we can't start the car in 'D' gear mode.

Hi Bro, are you referring to CTBA or engine stopped while the gear is in 'D' mode? Because we can't start the car in 'D' gear mode.

Ya. I had a similar encounter in a major cross junction where I accidentally pressed the "Engine Stop" button. At that panic stage, I attempted to press the "Engine Start" Button again but it can only ON whatever, just except the Engine. Fortunately I quickly set the Gear to "P" & press the Foot-Brake follow by the "Engine Start" Button & I manage to drive off. Lucky me. [:/]

    Anyway, that's my 2nd day ride.. [:p]

anyone has a reliable agent to recommend?

Looking to replacing my family Suzuki Liana with a Honda Vezel.

Test drive the Nissan Qashqai 1.2L turbo 2 weeks back and drive was good. Somehow i felt the Vezel has got a bigger rear leg room.

Haven't got a chance to test drive a Vezel, or is there no chance at all to test drive a PI car?

Can any bro here advise the road holding/ stability of this Vezel. As my current Honda Civic has less than 10 months to go, i am keen to buy a Honda car again. I like heavy car with a good road holding, sturdy body and less bumpy when on the highway. Mostly travel highway 70/ city 30.

Sad to say, if you looking at good holding car, vezel is definitely out for you. Mazda car are best in the class in terms of car handling.

For existing Vezel owners, can you advise if the rear Right and Left window glass and rear glass were changed locally before delivering vehicle to owners?

The reason for asking is it looks dark and was informed by two different PI's with two different information. One said no need to change and another said must change and original be returned.

The replaced glass is clear and has a different text printing on the glass.

How bout HRV 1.8. as & when it comes.

Updated looks and with a little more power?

Yes Kia sportage not bad but i recall i was put off by the chrome door sills?

Existing Tucson looks strong but yes its already a few years old so definitely not as updated a look as vezel. However, the bigger engine gives more power which is my preference.

I dont know, maybe end up with an ML350 or X3 or Q5 in the end......but the Vezel is a nice looking proportionate car and can save so much money.....hhhhhmmmmmm..

How about new qashqai? Anyway no hurry at all, my wife's car COE til late 2008

Bro, in all honesty, i dont know.

So far info outside of Japan in Asia HR-V 1.5l is from Indo.

Again i am speculating here if KM Spore bring in the 15l version it would be a goodplatform to competewith Qashqai 1.2 turbo, CX3, Vezel, XV, Peugeot 2008, Captur andSX Cross.

KM Spore will lose out if they bring in the 1.8l. just my 2 cents

Two engines will be offered in the Republic, a 120 PS/145 Nm 1.5 litre from theCityandJazz, and a 1.8 litre pushing 139 PS and 169 Nm. Both four-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC units are paired to a CVT automatic gearbox, but the smaller engine can be had with a five-speed manual as well. Honda normally reserves CVTs for smaller engines, so its interesting to see a 1.8 CVT here. New trend?

So today, i was made to test the accuracy of the "Range" meter of the Vezel.. With 4km left in the tank, I pumped about 37.4litres.. Meaning to say, the reading is on the conservative side.. Not to encourage other bros to try, but just in case.. :)

PS: my average is still very poor.. :/

Same here, if keen to do business do PM me too. Sure can earn for dealers/PIs, only willing to earn what margin. Let's deal honestly.

    Cheers!!

Perhaps there are not many PIs on this thread. I am also waiting for PI to pm their package offers, but received only one so far. This PI asked me to contact him/her or visit the showroom but not willing to reveal anything about the offer.

Maybe it is only me, I prefer to see what PIs have to offer first before deciding on which showroom to visit.

Kindly share if you receive any pm of good offers. TIA...

Is it possible for a mini vezel group buy? Few members agree on a price and then nego with PI.

If price achieved, must committ to book car

What I meant was, should Kah bring HRV 1.5 to Sg, will it be the old 1.5 sohc instead of the 1.5 dohc GDI as seen on the Vezel & Jazz RS ?

If they don't bring in the latest spec as JDM model. Might as well don't do business. Still, there will be customers. Becos singapore drivers not well versed enough. We forumers needa start making the difference through education!

Kah Motors will probably bring in from the same source as Malaysia, which is Indo/Thai. This means the engine is the old (but reliable) SOHC L15A with 120+ hp / 145 Nm torque. I'm not too worried as this engine has good low-end torque, owing to the SOHC design, but slightly weaker high end. Pretty good marriage with the CVT.

I highly doubt they will introduce the Earth Dreams L15B DOHC direct injection model in the Vezel, as the HR-V is made for the low-cost CUV model, and if I am the Thai/Indo factory, why trouble myself with 2 SKUs of the same 1.5L type? Also, they need to differentiate the HR-V and the JDM Vezel on a global scale.

On a sidenote, the JDM Hybrid runs a NON-DIRECT INJECTION Atkinson cycle LEB, essentially the L15B Earth Dreams minus the Direct Injection.

    Short term Hybrid Vezel update:

First tank of petrol fetched me 680.2 km and I topped up 37.3L. Which works out to be around 18.2 km/l. The onboard computer reading was pinpoint accurate in the calculation of the FC. Was driving really like a pussy on Eco mode and entering EV mode whenever I could, but once the petrol engine kicked in, the FC drops quite drastically. Was going about 50/50 highway/city.

    Reasons for the not fantastic economy figures are probably;

    1) High drag caused by heavy 17" stock rims and grippy, thus draggy, 215/55/17 sport OEM tyres. For comparison, Toyota Prius comes with slippery and thin tyres, probably 15" and very low rolling resistance.

    2) General heft of the Vezel hybrid chassis 1.3 tons.

    3) Less slippery design of the tall body, causing greater aerodynamic drag.

Adjusted my tyre pressures to slightly above stock pressure, 235 KPa, and forgone the Eco mode as it was simply miserable. Went on more highways at a 90 km/h average cruising speed diligently and this is what I achieved:

    IMAG1186.jpg

Yeah, 20.4 km/l currently on this tank. This is done 70/30 Highway/City and off Eco mode, so I was driving normally, and coasting as much as possible on expressways. Honestly, achieving this FC is decent, considering the Vezel platform wasn't designed with "Hybrid DNA" from the ground up, unlike the Prius family.

Interestingly, the electric motor assist feature during cruising was my favourite feature. Usually on constant throttle up a slight expressway slope, normal auto-boxes will downshift once they detect the engine load exceeds a certain value, leading to increased instant fuel consumption.

However with the Hybrid, in the same situation, the electric motor comes to life and assists the vehicle up the slope. This assist does not necessitate a downshift in the gearbox, as there is an additional 160Nm supplied by the electric motor. The car simply cruises up the slope with magic power assist. Needless to say, the instant fuel consumption remained constant throughout. I guess this contributed to the rather excellent overall fuel consumption.

yes it is possible. I know there was a couple of group buys done there. you can nego for pricing.

their vezels comes in by the truck loads and moves very fast.

That time when I saw it came from port, am quite surprise they are quite clean (not perfectly clean though).

meaning they were not hold in storage anywhere for very long period.

Not so good fc mayb caused by frequent stop start. I'm inclined to believe this feature causes more wear n fc. But Honda hybrid models from the past nvr had an impressive fc, unlike Toyota prius.

I may be wrong but the trip meter may not reflect your reserve volume? In any case it may be bad for the fuel pump to always run till very low henceforth not advisable too.

Ya, It is not advisable as it may stress your fuel pump. [sweatdrop]FYI , Fit tank is 42L, when trip meter show "0", I only manage to pump 36L to full tank that means the reserve is around 5~6L.

Finished first half tank of my Shell 95 petrol. Only acheived 13.7km/l and 291.2km with 50% highway and 50% city drive. Choose to off the Auto Engine off function as stopped too often at traffic light.

What is your rim size bro? Any other factors like weight of right foot, load, tyre pressure, first run in?

So it also means that if the driver do not wish the engine to auto cut off, just lift off your leg & it's engine will not cut already.. [grin]
