2015 Forester 2.0 part 12

its good to have but will need to get used to.. My brother has a Mazda CX-5 2.5 that have this function.. Driving on a total darkeness roads overseas quite irritating to me.. Bec the light beam keep moving and it's always moving up and down if not left and right from the opposite cars' beam.

Currently have fully adaptive LED headlamps, they turn in the direction of the turn and the up-down motion is only to keep it level to avoid glare. So far I have found this implementation to be excellent with very wide illumination in dark places without glare and it also switches to a narrow, long beam at high speed.

It does depend on the implementation and how variable it is. Adaptive LED technology is much more capable of a wider range of illumination and beam pattern compared to regular bi-xenon.

So would like to know whether the 125800 posted is for gtd or non-gtd. :D

    It's for 6 bids. Non-gtd

Did u indent and pay 1k as car reach next week?

Booked 1-2 weeks back. They factor the additional 1k into the overall price package.

Secured Coe on first bid. So I guess no need for guarantee Coe for the other bros interested

    Hi all,

I booked my ride with MI (FXT) on 22nd Sep. Chose the available color of dark grey (ready stock), & SE managed to get the COE the next day (1st bid). Probably I secured the 1st bid, as I chose the available stock (back then, I still had a selection of blue, silver, dark grey, maroon & bronze to choose from). Got my ride on Fri 8th Oct. Heard that their current stock only left with one Blue color (for Forester XT model) when I met my SE to sign some bank's paperwork today morning (guess by the end of today Sat, this last stock of blue color should be taken up already)...she checked & said that the next shipment should be arriving in a week's time...however for this shipment, there were already many buyers pre-ordered especially for the black & white colors...if you should book one within the next few days for the popular colors, the stock level could be very low already....worse, if the stock are all taken up, you will need to pay extra $1K to indent for their next shipment for the particular color that you want...

Enjoying every moment with the FXT...

Anyone of you bros out there with the touch-screen HU, are you able to play iPod/iPhone videos on the HU...? I noticed that the HU has a video selection when the iPod is connected, but there is only audio, but no video on the screen when I selected a music video file to play...is there something that I may have missed...? Or you may need a special cable t connect to the HU, in order to enable video...?

The HU does not seem to support playing of Video from IPOD. I checked the manual but it did say playing from USB

drive. I have been testing this as well and will test using a USB thumb drive with a video file soon and see if it works.

I've been driving a White FXT for 6 weeks now. My FC is averaging 10km/l with a mix of 50/50 driving. It does get worst with City driving. It's a very pleasant drive, with power when needed. However, the lag can be annoying in I mode when trying to overtake. But in S mode, its really something.... I've not tried it in S# mode... not here but maybe when I drive up to M'sia :-)

I find the radio reception to be rather poor. When stationary, the sound quality is acceptable, but it gets bad when moving. However, if I play from Bluetooth, the sound quality is petty good.

Anybody did any mods to the car yet? Cosmetic or otherwise???

I believe the Apple connector does not transmit video. It requires a special sort of video output cable. Then again, if the car is reading files directly from the iPod/iPhone it shouldn't be an issue.

But as Pocus mention, the HU will probably not play videos while in motion.

Not really a facelift for that one. That is only the local AD replace the outdated HU with a new LCD touch screen. Which are already available at others market when the car first release.

The XV omv is around 17k. This is the same as FXT. Interior of XV give a more modern and refresh feel over FXT. So will the refresh 2016/7 FXT still command an omv of 17k? Or it will raise to over 20K? I coming from a point that XV is a 1.6 NA engine while FXT is a 2.0 DIT, and FXT has more features that XV. I wonder how MI can lower the omv for FXT to such level.

Sighhhh...completed my 1st full tank today, & it was 7.2km/l...total mileage clocked from 1st full tank, until fuel indicator reached only 1-bar left, was 367km; thereafter went straight to pump petrol to full tank, about 51 litres of petrol...which gives me 7.2km/l....I did not even turned on "S" mode, & always kept my foot pedal below 20% all the time while driving, & rpm never reaches above 2,000rpm...see pic below on the foot pedal %.

    pic1.jpg

Anyway, this fc is still soooooo much better than my '07 2.5L LGTW haha...but was expecting that it could be better with the new engine, & 2.0L, & CVT, & so on...anyway, can't expect good fc from Subarus especially turbo haha...

Wish I can get close to 10km/l man...

Sighhhh...completed my 1st full tank today, & it was 7.2km/l...total mileage clocked from 1st full tank, until fuel indicator reached only 1-bar left, was 367km; thereafter went straight to pump petrol to full tank, about 51 litres of petrol...which gives me 7.2km/l....I did not even turned on "S" mode, & always kept my foot pedal below 20% all the time while driving, & rpm never reaches above 2,000rpm...see pic below on the foot pedal %.

    attachicon.gifpic1.jpg

Anyway, this fc is still soooooo much better than my '07 2.5L LGTW haha...but was expecting that it could be better with the new engine, & 2.0L, & CVT, & so on...anyway, can't expect good fc from Subarus especially turbo haha...

Wish I can get close to 10km/l man...

oh yah...to add on, perhaps my driving was maybe 80% city, 20% highway...? This could be the main cause of the high fc though....

I always felt too light foot not necessary give you better FC. Because it take a long time to reach the cruising speed.

I believe in moderate to fast accelerate to the cruising speed, which car had reach top gear and lowest rpm. That will give you better FC.

I am not driving the XT yet, my current car I had a Pivot 3 Drive Throttle controller installed. I am using sport mode and set to sport 7 (max setting). i am getting same FC as using normal mode. With sport 7 mode, I am able to get faster throttle response.

Wow that's really bad! So far I haven't hit so low yet, my worst is 8km/l where I did mostly short trips and played a lot of s and s# mode. Did you leave your car idling a lot?

Hmm...perhaps I did idle the car a little more for the 1st few days...to learn the interior & the HU...but guess never idle for more than 30mins, 2 days max at most..?

I also understand that the engine oil I hear for the car now is standard mineral oil right..? If yes, maybe it'll worsen the fc a bit, until MI will change to synthetic oil for he 1st 1,000km servicing..?

The city and highway % does mean a lot. Plus maybe it takes sometime after a few tanks for the corr ft figures to show. I basically hit 11.5k/L after 4th tank with 80%HW

Don't judge based on the % of the accelerator, use the instantaneous FC readout.
    DSC05308.jpg

This one will tell you if you are wasting fuel at that point of time while you drive, then you adjust accordingly.
low % acceleration may not pull enough power to move the heavy chassis. No momentum will eat fuel more.
Better to step more to get momentum and save more fuel.

FXT? I get frequently told that turbos need to be treated somewhat differently, climb the gears fast as possible rather than go light footed. Light footed use more petrol. So I guess, you need to be a bit heavier footed? [dizzy]

During the initial phase with my new car (not FXT, but also similar 2.0L turbo with 240hp) I also got around 7.5km/l at best on average. Like you I had a lot of city driving.

    The default is "I" mode.
Sporty modes are "s" mode and "s#" mode.

There's a debate which mode offers the most balance drive in terms of economy and power. For mostly highway driving s# mode may be better, for mostly city driving i mode is still the way to go.

JDM FXT Sti got 300ps/400Nm 6speed Manual GB or CVT,

but Singapore fuelgrade cannot make it, so tuning to 250ps/350Nm CVT only

I think Singapore 98 fuel grade should be OK.

Is the others South East Asia fuel grade not OK, Subaru factory will just sell one version for all the SEA country which is more easy for them.

Like the Toyota car here are mostly for the SEA version.

Memory Seats...understand the new facelift model will come with Memory Seats. Any idea if the current Forester, which already comes with electric driver seat can be retrofitted to Memory seat?

Hi, any one purchase the servicing packaging from MI when you purchase the car? Is the servicing package cheaper at the point when you sign for the car purchase?

My SE offered me to buy the extended servicing package when I sign on the paper, & the price's the same if I should consider & buy later after I collected the car...

    better think twice,

current free service how many years, extend how many years?

believe they sure prompt their wear and tear parts at high price during the extend service period, if you don't buy, warranty void
