    Bro,

You referring to wear and tear items like brake pads and Tyre. or other items.

If that is the case it is not worth the extension...

I was offered the same deal, but was told that I can remove closer to car delivery.

    better think twice,

current free service how many years, extend how many years?

believe they sure prompt their wear and tear parts at high price during the extend service period, if you don't buy, warranty void

yup...heard many true events about their tactics from others...also fro my colleague who owned a '11 Forester too...am not signing up any package from them.

    Sorry bros,

1 more quick questions. Any one mount front facing childseat in the middle backseat? I read that the middle backseat is the safest place to mount child seat. I am using a recaro young sports model for my 2 year old.

I am also expecting another baby on the way hence i thought mounting the child seat in the middle and another rear facing babyseat behind driver seat will create more space for my wife (to sit behind passenger seat (aka left side) as compared to her sitting in the middle where her space will be robbed by the console and the transmission tunnel

Both are using seat belts to secure and not the isofix. First time driving SUV configuration and impending 2 baby seat in a car. appreciate all comments and sharing =)

Sorry but accordingly to manual Subaru do not recommend seat on rear middle seat and front passenger seat. Got warning sign too.

If first child is big enough, convert to booster better

Don't think middle seat has ISO-FIX on it... and not recommended to use middle seat.

Also, if your kid is 4 and above, you can try this booster seathttp://www.mifold.com

For your recaro baby seat, can you use the chair's ISO-FIX to the car? I have the recaro seats for my kid as well.

    Rainyday

I'm not driving Forester, but an XV.

I also thought to install my Peg Perego Trifix K in the middle seat with base unfortunately my Britax Boulevard G4 installed with ISOFIX seems blocking the middle seat and unable to fit nicely.

In the end, I got myself an ISOFIX base for Peg Perego. Both seats install at the back.

Bros, thanks for the advice appreciate it. Shall not try my luck and will install as per recommended by Subaru (on either side haha wife sit in middle)

For my model recaro young sports, I do not think it have the isofix latch. So far been using seatbelt. Shall dig out the manual again.

Can't wait for new car! Excited!!!

    Hi Bros,

I'm driving a white FTX. Just realised that the dashboard (at the front passenger side) has a rectangle shape popping out (Refer to the pix). Not sure if is normal for all FTX? or i'm the only one with this defect.

    Anyone having the same issue?

    Thanks!

I am driving the "cheaper" version. FC is about 9L/100km for 3 tanks. 60 to 70% Highway. Accessories is almost the same, except no power rear gate, no nicer alloy rims, no S# mode. Handling is excellence since I came from a 1.6L NA car.

I think can't use the word cheaper. More like to cater to crowd who have no interest in higher hp torque, auto tailgate etc. my bro in law gotten the premium version as he really have no needs for those frills. The money saved from the car price, FC, interest rates etc probably can last him few years of pumping petrol. To each his own!

But haha any bro with tips on suitable Paint protection system? Anyone heard of this brand pika pika?

Exactly. That's why I go for the non-turbo version.

I have bought Pika Pika Rain Premium to DIY but yet to apply as still waiting for car. First time self applying glass coating but I think it's not too difficult as I love to DIY whenever possible. If you apply pika pika by the authorized professional, the glass coating has a 5 years durability and only available to them. DIY pika pika has 3 years durability.

I diy pika pika on my white car, very easy and fast. Now very easy to maintain, any stain or smudge just wipe. I only apply pika pika after 2 months collecting car as deliberating going to professional polishing.

This pika pika diy save money and time going to workshop.

The first time going to car wash after applying pika pika, the guy drying my car said ...wow did you polish your car recently...coz very shiny ...first time a car wash person comment even though previous car also ever have grooming done proffesionally but never commented on.

I just hope can last 2 years I will be happy, coz not ex and easy and fast to apply.

better, not as hot.... u can try that if have no intend to upgrade the film :)

For fc, do u all reset it after every tank?

On the speedo instrumental panel. There is two stick, one for seeing trip meter a and b. One is display but like no reaction. Any purpose for that?

Lastly, is the disc drive a dvd or only CD player? Can the screen play video from thumb drive while on the move or stationary?

I have to agree here, it's an enjoyable drive and ride! :D

    1. For me, I only reset trip A, trip B has been cumulative mileage and have not been reset. Personal preference.

    2. If I'm not mistaken, the other "stick" is for cars with no mfd or lower "grade" mfd. It's suppose to change the pages in the panel display.. Our info is mostly in the mfd..

    3. Have not tried inserting and cds in yet.. Haha will have to try it out.. For the video files via thumb drive, yes, it works! But the HU is very selective on file types. So far mpeg4 seems to work fine. Mkv can't play.. Video will play when vehicle is stationary, once switch out of park, screen will turn blue, with sound from the video still on.

    Enjoy the ride!

heat will radiate through car body into the cabin.

heat will retain in the material untill it is released through cooling.

have you ever noticed even if in underground carpark after you parked for hours, the car feels warm???

because the ambient is warm, heat will get into the car cabin - seat, padding..etc

True, it is worth the buy less the consumption part.

But given that the consumption is comparable to yesteryear 2L car with less power, i think it is still worth it.

Then, for those who do not want to be doing 7-10km/L depending on driving pattern, I prefer not to go for this car.

Many do go for it due to its drivable and performance benefits.

Depending on travelling pattern, it is possible to get > 600km per tankful if travel mainly on Highway (say 80%), or averaging about 11 to 12km/l.

Solar film freebies from sales executives usually are the lower grade of heat reduction (usually around $300 budget).

Usually better to exchange during the sales negotiations for cash discount instead, and then go, after collecting car, to the usual better brands (vKool, Rike, 3M etc...) and choose the higher quality (but of course, more expensive) grades. I usually go for those that can block > 80% of infra-red for the back seats. Can feel then that strong sun will not sting the skin when seated behind. (Front seat usually can't reach so high blockage as will cause the film to be too dark to meet LTA requirements).

Via Bluetooth but I can't get it to work with my iphone. Not an big issue as no one Sms me anyway hahaha mostly whatapps

The FC is better than expected for my city driving, now is around 9km per liter and still running in. Weekdays I usually make short trips and only weekend have chance to cruise . I think getting a 10-11 should be possible if u drive more highway.

Lastly from a sedan to SUV, find the boot cargo abit loud. Any smart way to secure all the stuff? My pram and washing items all flying around haha

I am driving the "cheaper" version. FC is about 9L/100km for 3 tanks. 60 to 70% Highway. Accessories is almost the same, except no power rear gate, no nicer alloy rims, no S# mode. Handling is excellence since I came from a 1.6L NA car.

Is your FC (for the cheaper one) still 9L/100km after running in?

I just went down to test drive FXT.

    List Price is 128,800.

    - 2k discount for 60k/5years loan.

    - 1k discount for car trade in.

    - 6 bid guarantee COE.

    Net Price : 125,800.

    Freebies:

    - Car Mat

    - Blackvue front/back. SE $350, Me $300.

    - 1k, 5k, 10k free servicing.

    - Standard 5 years / 100,000km warranty.

SE mentioned for bronze, blue pearl, dark grey and black, need to top up 1k indent fee. Only red pearl no need to top up.

Feel strange about this. Can any bros advise?

Btw, what are the extra perks during the recent car expo?

Need to top up for indent is due to no stock. No need to top up mean they have stock.

Yes, I also feel it strange on why need to top up. If their stock has already depleted, even without receiving order, they should automatically replenish with new stock. Why made buyer to pay extra while they are replenishing it?

I found the indent top up to be very strange also. SE mentioned that purpose is to ensure even amount of colours are sold. Abit nonsensical but anyway the last offer to me was to waived the $1000. Hence i believe for those really interested in buying, you can request for waiver.

If SE wavier 1k mean you might has lesser discount on other area. Onepocket in, the otherpocket out. I top up $500 and I believed the other $500 might be taken from other discount. Example, if I top up 1k, maybe I could have received 3 yrs free servicing instead of 2 years.

Quite ridiculous IMO to top up for something that is already on the way. i.e. they should replenish the stock themselves.

So you don't indent then they don't sell anymore??

For those considering Forester but only concern is the FC.

After driving 3500km, and pumped petrol 12x..

My forester turbo is stock, tyre at 220-230kpa, 70-80% city driving.

Worst FC= 1litre=7.16km.. 80-90% city, pickup from stationery etc don't care just wack.. multiple short per trip from as short as 1km.

Best F =1litre=14.5km.. NSHW at legal speed limit.

Average FC is 8.75km for 1 litre. All these are physical calculations, total trip divided by litres pumped and I'm always pumping petrol myself until brim so it's constant, not using onboard trip computer.

So it's not as scary as most believe for a all time AWD turbo car.

If willing to pump the 18" tyres to 250-260kpa, fc should be even better by 1-2km per litre I think.

I also got quite a bad FC if with 80% to 90% city driving...mainly short trips as my workplace is very near to my house (<5km). Weekdays from Mon to Fri, travelling to work; after work going for city driving for another 10km from my workplace to pick up kids from childcare, & back home...during weekends may use highway...FC on average is 7.5 to 8.0km per litre...occasional spirited driving on "S" mode...

Not really particular about FC though, as it's sooooo much better than my previous LGTW....very glad to get such FC....enjoying every moment with the ride...

if your foresters is a FXT, maybe u wanna use S# mode instead of S mode. Some users have good FC in excess of 12km/hr using S# in mixed city driving.

I also enjoying the drive.. every time see a Xtrail or Outlander on the road, makes me happy I choose the FXT out of the 3.. bec reading from the user comments on the Xtrail HU issue.. and seems the FC never reach their acclaimed 12 to 13.3km/litre also, so might as well drive a more torquey car. Best part is its the lowest depreciation as well.

To be fair, every car have issues. The Forester does have issues with seats or panels making occasional sounds and squeaks while turning or over the hump. But these are not show stoppers compare the major issues encountered by other models.

I think as a whole the Forester being older, and out since 2013, has got most of the teething issues sorted out.

Yes...the back seats making little squeaky sounds...am suspecting its the leather (at both edges f the back seats) rubbing against the side-wall...I tried applying lots of Amour-All to the sides, & the squeaks did reduce a lot...but when a few days later, the noise came back again haha...

Think will put the slippery lubricant WD-40 & try liao tomorrow... [grin][grin]

To be honest, it's the Power follow by the more aggressive looking Bumper styling.

Other things to consider between F and FXT:

    - Auto tailgate

    - Nice looking rims

    - HK Speakers with Amp

    - Paddle shifter for more control.

    - Rear pull down cup holder (IIRC Premium doesn't have that)

Other than that, thepremium got everything covered...

WD40 won't work don't waste the effort. The problem is the sound comes occasionally only, and then you try to replicate, it doesn't appear.

So it's not as scary as most believe for a all time AWD turbo car.

    ....

Allow me to illustrate my FC:

CTE AMK Ave 3 entry to AYE Nominton Park exit. Night non-peaktraffic.

On a "crazy" day, S# all the way and playing with the corners and revving up to 5000rpm at lane 1 with a lot of sprinting averaging at 120km/h or more = 13.5l/100km

On a "lazy" day, child on board sleeping, 80 to 90km/h cruise control and smooth driving/cruising at middle lane = 7.5l/100km

Average = 10.5l/100km = 9.5km/l for non-restrictive driving. Could be better if you are disciplined.

BTW, being a 2.0 Turbo, idling waste a lot of petrol so FC will suffer at heavy traffic more than a lower CC engine.

hope you get the clearer picture

2.0I Premium has these 2 features. Just that it only has S mode (no S# mode), the maximum manual gear is 5th or 6th. Personally, I have only tried up to 5th gear in S'pore.

    - Paddle shifter for more control.
    - Rear pull down cup holder (IIRC Premium doesn't have that)

To be honest, it's the Power follow by the more aggressive looking Bumper styling.

Other things to consider between F and FXT:

    - Auto tailgate
    - Nice looking rims
    - HK Speakers with Amp
    - Paddle shifter for more control.
    - Rear pull down cup holder (IIRC Premium doesn't have that)

Other than that, the premium got everything covered...

WD40 won't work don't waste the effort. The problem is the sound comes occasionally only, and then you try to replicate, it doesn't appear.

    Thanks for all responses.

Of the differences betw the two models, other than additional power and better looks, the features that draws me to the FXT are the 18" rims and the sound setup. And if I am getting the 2.0i, I would probably be changing the rims and sound setup subsequently

Can anyone help to comment on these:

    1. Does the 2.0i P feels under-powered ?

    2. How different is the sound setup for the FXT vs 2.0i P?

    3. Does the 2.0i P comes with the powered (glass) sunroof ?

My driving pattern is daily work commute (30min) each way, weekend shopping and 2~3 times of NSH yearly.

Yes, its a B&B driving pattern.

Err....didn't you just bought the car?
Yes besides the engine, better speakers and auto tailgate, you get most of the stuff the FXT owners got here. Enjoy your sunroof.

Thanks Ewennst for correcting me on the 2 points.

Car prices dont just increase based on omv. Dont forget the ARF tax which is exponentially increase for every omv price, not to mention the 5k CEVS surcharge compared to the 0 dollar CEVS of the 2.0 NA. So the 12k is just about right.

The sunshade will move with the glass. Of course you can just open the sunshade by hand if you do not want to open the glass.

Its not rebate, its surcharge due to emission. we pay Gov the money, not they subsidize. The price to pay for power.

On the bright side it won't eat our PARF.

Once you got into the car and drive for keep, you will realize you made the right choice!

2.0i Premium also has X-mode. It also come with Bluetooth connectivity. With the most recent facelift in May/June, the gap in term of accessories for 2.0i and FXT are limited to those listed by Pocus.

    hi,

how do you find the "drive-ability" of the 2.0i Premium ?

    comments?

    2. How different is the sound setup for the FXT vs 2.0i P?

comments / opinions from other bros ?

While I was on a test drive of the 2.0i, I was discussing the sound system with my buddy while I was testing the stereo out and we mentioned the HK speakers in the XT. The SE clarified that the sound system in the XT has been "tuned by HK" which is why it has their badging but they are not actually HK speakers...

I am not an audiophile but I could hear no difference whatsoever between the 2 systems...

OIC, except engine, other gaps all can be fixed by aftermarket,

    not too much difference

Adding to that, in other countries like Russia, their 2.0 NA have the same bumper as the XT. So for 2.0NA owners if you love the XT bumper and have cash to spare, can try to get an XT bumper to fix.
