Slap officers only get $6000 fine? This Jap should have tried this stunt in the US... would have got 6000 rounds instead

A Japanese man who slapped three policemen at an MRT station was on Monday (April 25) fined $6,000 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting a public servant.

Masano Takeshi, 27, an employment pass holder, admitted to two other counts of the same and a charge, of behaving in an annoying manner whilst drunk in a public place. These were considered in sentencing.
A district court heard that at about 11pm on Sept 10, last year, Takeshi was seen struggling with another person at City Hall MRT Station. His face was flushed and he also reeked of alcohol.

EP can be from 3.3k onwards. But that's not my issue... I don't care if it's FT or not. I only care that the sentence is commensurate to the crime. I believe any violent assault should incur a custodial sentence.

But for too many recent sentences, it hasn't been so. There's always a mitigating factor that judges accept nowadays... in this case... the Jap was drunk.

    Well boo-fcking-hoo. Let me quote an observation made by a judge in a previous case involving a drug mule;

In law, an offender cannot say that he committed the offence because he was under the influence of alcohol if he had intentionally consumed it so as to facilitate his offence, nor can an offender similarly claim to be under the influence of drugs deliberately consumed. Drugs and alcohol may affect the mental awareness of an offender but the offender cannot rely on them as a defence when he intentionally consumed drugs or alcohol before committing the offence.

I don't remember who said this in SG... was a long time ago... 80s or 90s maybe... that they are stricter when it concerns lesser infractions so that people will twice before breaking minor rules... and will definitely think a lot when it concerns major laws.

    You know why?

Both the prosecution and defence asked for a fine of about $5,000.

Takeshi's lawyer said the assaults were committed impulsively, and when he was bleeding profusely and in pain.

He has written letters of apology to the officers, and has converted to Islam and will be maintaining his sobriety, his lawyer added.

Because even the prosecution asked for a fine only! KNN, this nippon kia must have known somebody.

Once you are being charged in Singapore Court alot of "miracles" can happen:

    1) Suddenly you found God

    2) Suddenly you decide that you have been praying to the wrong one, so change membership

    3) Suddenly you can get pregnant

    4) Suddenly you have ailing parents and kids to take care of when you have not even pay them a visit or give them allowance once in the past year

    5) Suddenly you all your long lost friends are found to give you pristine testimonies

    6) last but not least....suddenly you are certified mentally unsound.....depressed.....and what nots

Yesterday night after wash car I brought my 2 doggies go walk, walking home liao then saw something strange on the floor, it was a walkway behind a hdb multistorey carpark. On the floor got a pair of pants, I thot RadX was around, then I saw on top of the pair of pants was a wallet and a phone. So I hung around a bit see if anyone come and claim. Nobody came, so I open wallet see see, everything intact, cards, money all insai still. Got finance and health assistance cards.

Went to look at the phone and call the last called number. Turns out phone is the callee's dad. Callee stay amk, pantsless guy stay chai chee alone and separated from his family. I at tanah Merah.

Long long story short. Decided to put my dogs back home and drive (gf car cos mine washed and clean liao mah, how to drive) over to chai chee send back wallet. It was those rental flats type, rough place, lifts and corridors smell of ciggies. First time I see these sort of flats with a light beacon on top of every door and a sos signboard at the lift landing that will light up and display when a housing unit is in need of help. Anyway.......

Pantsless guy not at home (duh right? No pants how to go home) ,letter box locked,so I jammed wallet and phone in between gate and door.

Moral of story is don't stress until lose your pants, wallet and phone might be lost also. If the son is reading this, i hope you manage to contact your dad, his wallet and phone full of your photos and keepsakes with your name on it.

Trial starts for man who allegedly raped woman 3 times in 3 places in 20 minutes
PUBLISHED 4 HOURS AGO UPDATED3 HOURS AGO
    Selina Lum
Singaporean Lim Choon Beng, 30, will stand trial on three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of outrage of modesty.
SINGAPORE - In a span of 20 minutes, a 26-year-old man allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman three times at three different spots along Martin Road leading up to River Valley Close in the wee hours of the eve of Chinese New Year in 2013.
The woman's torn panties were later found strewn among vegetation at the first spot, while the zipper of her blood-stained dress was dislodged.
Calling it a "brazen case", prosecutors on Tuesday (May 3) opened its case against Singaporean Lim Choon Beng, now 30, on three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of outrage of modesty.
Lim pleaded not guilty and is contesting all seven charges in a trial scheduled for eight days in the High Court. He claims that he does not remember his actions. He is defended by Mr Anand Nalachandran under the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme.
The first witness to take the stand is the alleged victim, a performing artiste from China, who testified behind closed doors. A court order bars her identity from being made public.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Lin Yinbing said in her opening statement that the victim, now 27, will give an account of how she was waylaid and sexually assaulted on the public street.
Witnesses lined up to testify for the prosecution include an independent eyewitness who called the police after seeing Lim on top of the crying woman, a motorist who picked up the distressed woman and drove her in search of a police station, as well as a friend of the alleged victim who received a call from her while she was in the stranger's car, telling him that she had been raped.
The prosecution will also be submitting forensic evidence to prove its case against Lim. Lim's DNA was said to be found on the woman's bra, her blood on his clothes, and soil on their clothes.

No offence to the alleged victim but shouldn't this be considered one rape instead of 3?

I mean, what is the criteria to say that the rape has stopped and a new rape started?

BTW, why 2013 case now then charge?

Maybe he ejaculated 3 times that's why considered 3 rapes. But then again 3 times in 20min quite impossible. Lol.

They take a long time to investigate lo. Sometimes the witnesses take long time to go down and talk to the police, then the woman might not have been comfortable to talk about it just after the event so all these drag until now.

"People like you are the main reasons why our world is not getting any better.

    Copied from STOMP:

Text in red - make me lol

A letter to the moron who stole my bike parked at Punggol MRT Station

    bikemain.jpg

A Stomper's foldable GTR bicycle was stolen this morning (May 4) from its parking spot at Punggol MRT Station.

The Stomper has written a letter to express how she feels about the theft, as well as appeal for help in locating it.

Describing her bicycle to beared and black foldable fromthe GTR series, with red lights attached behind, the Stomper said, "It's small built for girls but the one who stole it must be a guy without balls."

Here is her letter reproduced in full:

"To the guy who stole my bike:

"I can always buy a bike or any other stuff that I want because I have hard-earned money, but you can never steal things everytime. One day you'll be caught and you will pay for the things you steal.

"Go and find a decent job, you moronic piece of shit. You don't have a place in this world if you are going to continue stealing things. You can't feed your family by doing bad things.

"People like you are the main reasonswhy our world is not getting any better.

The kind of lock plus the way she lock makes it an easy target la. Plus she got such a flashy bike. Looks alot more expensive than what its worth. For me, any bike I going to lock in public, will look cheap and won't be so flashy. Lol.

Its not about whether the bike is flashy or branded or expensive.
If it is not yours, you dont touch. Simple as that.

In the same token, its not how the lady dresses or speaks
If she is not yours, you dont touch.
    If touch, rotan awaits.

Yeah. But we all know that bicycle theft is a very common thing in Singapore. When I was younger, I lost 5 bikes in 3 years but that was like 15 years ago. After that, I never parked any of my bicycles outside unless I have no choice. Just because it isn't right doesn't mean people won't do it. Don't want to lose the bike then take some precautions.

encountered so many of such similar cases

on one side, a guy with some authority given to him shows a black face and behaves like you owe him everything

then the other side, the one who is in the wrong in the first place shows rude unapologetic attitude

both sides just have to have some polite manners and everything actually will be ok one

Irate neighbours confront serial 'nudist' flashing at Pasir Ris apartment balcony
    AsiaOne, Sunday, May 15, 2016
    PasirRisExposed02_wb.jpg?itok=7rABHU4O&t
Police questioning a lady staying at the 5th floor unit. Earlier, around 10 irate neighbours had gathered outside the unit, demanding that the man exit his house.
    Photo: Lianhe Wanbao
SINGAPORE - The peace at a Pasir Ris neighbourhood was shattered on Saturday evening (May 14) when a group of neighbours confronted a serial 'nudist' who had been flashing at his balcony at Blk 629 Pasir Ris Street 3.
Around 10 irate neighbours had gathered outside a unit on the fifth floor at 6pm and starting shouting at the unit occupant, Lianhe Wanbao reported, demanding that the man exit his house.
Angry at the man's refusal to leave his house, one of the neighbours shattered a tile outside the apartment and flung a shoe from the corridor, a witness by the name of Mr Guo told Lianhe Wanbao.
The police told Lianhe Wanbao that they were alerted to the incident at around 6.30pm, and a man in the group was later arrested for causing public disorder.
"When the police arrived, the group had shrunk to 5, and they later scattered in different directions", Mr Guo, 26 said.
Neighbours told the Chinese evening daily that the middle-aged man had a habit of wearing thongs at his balcony.
They added that the man's queer habit started about seven years ago when he would stand by his window in full view of his neighbours, clad only in an underwear.
The man later 'upgraded' to a thong recently.
Another neighbour who confronted the man was ignored, and many female neighbours felt distressed and uncomfortable at the man's indecent exposure.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, said: "He would be at his balcony almost daily, smoking in his thongs. When he sees his neighbours, he will purposely tiptoe. It is almost as if he wants to catch their attention."
    Police investigations are ongoing.
