considering the Black Vue and the DOD GS300. Looking for a slick small, in car camera . The BV looks good while the DOD has Full HD. Anyone did a comparison of the 2? Price wise both are quite competitive.
Tks.
Black Vue Max resolution is VGA. Not worth.
Regarding stick on tape or suction, i prefer suction as no mark left on windscreen, and both tend to fall off under direct hot sun anyway.
Like Bro Adrianli said, the milo tin can camera better la.. at least is 720p resolution.

I did see him post in other threads, so he is still ard. Try again.
When parked the camera also can detect movement nearby and will automatically turn on and start recording. Cost of the camera is $100. Installation is very straightforward as there is only one cable to connect unless u want to hide the power cable. But only can get a limited number of sets as I don't want to have to carry so many sets back to sg.

This carcam is on sale at Vivo city toy outpost, #02-27, locker 16E.
How much are they selling? The set I am thinking of getting got the same specs as this. Only difference is the one I thinking of can support up to 64gb. But no point to have to much memory anyway.

at $330, the black vue pricing is a rip off. bear in mind that it only records in 640 x 480 resolution. its quite ok as an in car cam. but the DOD models are a much better choice. its video recording is almost HD quality. if you think the black vue quality is good, then the DOD ones are at least 2 times better.

Ya, I also ordered a set from DX recently. Waiting for it to come then i can fix it up with a perm elec cable and switch.
At least this one is true HD (720p) and not fake one like the 1280 x 960..
Thanks too to Bro Adrianli for his good review and kind advice..
Do share your user experience with us Bro Byond, once you have fixed it up and road tested it...

seems the night video quality for this model is not that good
From the reviews by Bro Adrianli, he says its better than some of the cameras he have himself.
This is the main reason why i chose this...
correct me if i am wrong...

Will surely post my reviews once i got hold of this milo can

For surveillience purpose, get cameras that are of at least HD 720p quality, wide angle and at least two(front n back). Then like me, go to a car accessories shop and ask them to help u wire it directly from the car battery thru the fuse box and install a on/off switch.
Just make sure ur car is driven every alternate days so that your car batt will not be drained.
If not required, just switch off the power from the switch installed. Its simple and get the job done(S$25 job, the last time I paid).

It is selling at $180, and the size is rather compact compared to the others that I've seen.

The most compact car camera I found so far is Sampo.

But no worries, now Dealextreme also have copies of Sampo. Compact yet big on features, have lcd screen, wide angle lens and HD recording!!! Prices should be cheaper than S$180. There are two versions there :

Personally, I prefer DVR with flip out LCD screen.
As once camera view has been confirmed, the LCD can be closed to reduce the cross-section when mounted.
If cross section size is not a concern, than there are a lot more to choose from. Yeah...sampo...looks really compact.

Anyone interested in getting a front camera for recording incidents and to catch those vandals? Cuz I am going to China soon and know a supplier there who has a camera that can record at 1280x960 with motion detection. Uses SDHC up to 64gb. It will keep recording in a loop and when it detects that u jam ur brake or hit something it will automatically store the data that was recorded 5min before and after it detected it.
When parked the camera also can detect movement nearby and will automatically turn on and start recording. Cost of the camera is $100. Wah.
One cable to connect can do all that including detect brake 5V etc?
Connect to my OBDII port ah?
Are they from local distributor SR or else where with the usual 7 day exchange policy and 1 year warranty? I m considering the gs300(w/o gps) and black vue.

Why you need one of this camera?
Accidents can happen at any time, without notice. As is often the case after an accident, we are disoriented and don't always remember everything just prior to the impact. We may not clearly remember the conditions of the road, weather, and traffic immediately following an accident.
More higher claims for car accidents as reported in the papers. With this device, you will not just save money in case of accident which is not your fault, it will also save you alot headaches.

Lowest price Car Black Box with GPS Tracking & G-Sensor(Made in Korea) in the market now!!! New Replacement model for the highly popular DR-1000!! Prices are close to wholesale price.
1) Mass Buy Price - $240(12 mths manufacturers warranty) - Pay for S&H( Shipping & Handling cost) to send back for repair.
2) Promo Price - $280(6 mths limited local warranty and 6 mths of manufacturers warranty) - full replacement of set within 6 mths if faulty(if there is existing stock, if not we will send back for repair and no extra charge on you) and from 7 to 12 mths, just pay S&H cost and we will help you send back for repair.
Warranty does not cover owner's negligence, accidental damage, misuse, normal wear & tear.
Advantage of Mass Buy price is that you will get the cheapest wholesale price. Disadvantage is that we will not be liable for any faulty sets. You will need to send back the faulty sets to us and pay a S&H charge and we will help you send the set back to Korea for repair or exchange.
Advantage of Promo price is that you will get 6 mths of limited local warranty. If your set is faulty within 6 mths, we will exchange for you if we have the stocks or help you send back for repair(all charges will be borne by us). Disadvantage is that the price is slightly higher than Mass Buy price.
Please PM or sms me at 96952338. Just indicate which price plan you are interested, Mass Buy or Promo price for DR-3000. For credit card payment, you can pay us by Paypal but all Paypal fees will be borne by you. Thanks.

Car-b Investment Co.,
Hmm..think.as long as can view car no from recording is good egh. M not watching movie n need not need fine details. I was very impress with e software supplied by BV. Built quality n design is good as well. Thinking to get e latest GPS BV unit...
same here, the feature, software capabilities and user interface for the blackvue is unbeatable.
I have tested 10 over in-car DVR before i go for blackvue.
The GPS is useful for capturing of speed and location
Shock sensor is useful for capturing any impact, and the device will prevent such recording from being over-written.
It automatically go into parking mode with motion sensor and shock sensor turn on.
when any motion/shock detected, a 1 min video BEFORE and AFTER the impact will be recorded and WRITE-PROTECTED
this is useful when you parked your vehicle overnight and someone hit-and-run.
The Software interface is good, so it is easy to search and retrieve the video clip that you want without going thru the entire video recordings.
couple with power magic, the blackvue will automatically turn off after certain hours or when the battery drop below certain voltage.
this will prevent the blackvue from draining the battery completely when it is recording in parking mode.
my only complain will be the use of microSD card, which is more expensive, fragile and difficult to remove
sorry about that
deleted!

If u dont mind the size, it is just a simple plug n play car camera. You cannot adjust any parameters except for HD - VGA selection switch.
Read the past postings, I have put up some reviews of this with video taken in day n night.
The CAIDROX CD3000 has a lag time interval between clips of only 0.5 seconds !
Unlike most HD models , they experience lag time of 2 - 4 seconds . That means , you lose approx 2 - 4 seconds of footage for every 3-5 mins recorded depending on how long is each clip .
Make sure every critical moment is captured !! Don't come to realise this only after the incident .
Consult us , the blackbox specialist today !

That assumption is totally not true bro . A brain unit that supports 2 cameras instead of 1 will cost higher , a wider angle camera sony lens will cost higher as well.
Not evening mentioning other features that we have mentioned previously , all adds on to the cost of the product .
We emphasize on value that customers receive , CAIDROX price is very competitive, just prolly $18 more because of the technology that comes with it , but you have a whole lot of features and functions coming along with that price tag.

I just did a quick browse using google and found one. It clamps on to the rear view mirror. Looks cool. But the downside it that you must not adjust the mirror once the camera position is finalised, therefore only suitable if the car is driven by only one driver.

How heavy is considered heavy??? I just went thru my F900LHD camera specs and its 128g.
My Nokia N8 handphone weighs 135g, 7g heavier than my car camera. It is being held in place by my windscreen phone holder.
Nothing is wrong with my solar film so far. It takes much more strength to detach the solar film from the windscreen. Try tearing off ur solar film just using ur fingers and u will realise how difficult it is.

But seems like they are not very popular and seldom see others will recommend them.
My guess is that the recording could be poor in terms of sharpness and resolution.

Mine is from the auto shop. Those simple flip switch.
But if you want, can get from Sim Lim Tower nicer ones like this :
guess this weekend i need to do a walk in bugis to get SD Card and also the switches.
Just called up to check was quoted 60 bucks for installation of the 2 cameras.
thanks man, the 2nd 1 looks more solid... :)

Most likely will do at the same place, probably at ZMC if price can below.

thank you sir, as usual good help. :)
Boss is Desmond. Not sure if my name got discount, so no harm telling him I recommend. Car make Axio, very tall guy.
Boss name is Jack.
But this one, workmanship so so only. Should be cheaper, can bargain with boss. If teochew nang, lagi better to bargain!!! Teochew nang = Ka ki nang.

He install my rear-view camera, china head unit and digital tv player for $150 only. But left sweaty marks on my dasboard, wind screen, rearview mirror and seats so got to use cloth to clean up after he is done. The loose short small wires and cable ties were all over the carpet and car seat, just pick up after he is done.
Never did car camera wiring with him but should be cheap. Must ask him in person than cheap.
ehh bro adrian, you stay bb area? i often go to that shop leh cos near my place, but like they ask all the young ppl do up the cars, the boss just supervise. I also scared leave the car there.
Saw some posting here on Caidrox, DOD and Black Vue, very tempting leh.
Caidrox has higher resolution recording and two camera also can!! what is the fps for such setting? it mentioned up to 30 fps.
http://www.zmc.com.sg
I understand from Black Vue website, it is recording at 30fps but at VGA resolution. The video quality looks good at VGA and now with 8GB card. I saw a few good reviews here.

On another post, I saw many problem with DOD products. :(
Any more reviews on these products to share?

May I know which model and how long you have been using it?
The other post mentioned about bloated battery!
Thanks.

someone just post in the previous page, car cam that fits into your rear view mirror
http://www.mycarforu...p...t&p=3784513
I have search and found quite a numbers of these two in one Rear View Mirror with DVR
http://www.dealextre...-angle-sd-47868
http://www.chinazrh....rder-p-993.html
http://www.china-dir...html?qfc=818863

But seems like they are not very popular and seldom see others will recommend them.
My guess is that the recording could be poor in terms of sharpness and resolution.

Thanks Dallii but no thanks. No wish to replace original rear view mirror as might consider a modd n denial claim by insurance co. Also, if spoilt will be very troublesome. If fit onto existing rear view mirror, it will damn bulky looking. Also, no mention on software. I consider it of an important aspect when selecting a recorder. It must be very easy to use.

I have looking for a camera attached to the rear mirror myself. I don't think you need to dismantle your existing rear view mirror. The device just clamps on to your existing mirror. Some models come with its own mirror with built in LCD.

I don't recommend mirror clip-on to the existing one as it will vibrates more. I had some experience with previous car, it was a clip-on mirror with reverse monitor or camera built in. If the clip on mirror is too heavy, the existing mirror holder may not able to take the weight and always move downwards :P
Adrianli, are you still using the milo can or have you moved on liao? Did you use it for surveillance? I read so many pages until I totally cross-eye and gave up.
Am thinking of getting the milo can. Seems cheap and good. Am going to wire it for 24/7 surveillance. Any problems with the camera when used for such purpose?

Yes, Iam still using it. My milo can size camera is used as my rear camera. It is not wired for surveillance purpose.
Finally last night my parcel arrived, just nice too 14 days for delivery.
I will be taking some photos these few days on the box and contents. Hopefully this 2 weeks can install and use.
The weight is a lot lighter then i expected, confirmed lesser then a Milo Can with contents. :) Stay tuned.

should be good stuff
Solid build, robust although it is a pc of plastic
It runs in 2 mins loop. I have inserted one GB micro SD card inside, approx can run for 18.27 mins on HD mode.
Did not know how to get the led lights and infra red lights to light up though
The given CD, when installed, did not managed to start up a program.
To view or delete the videos, just plug in as a thumb drive to access the files.
Yet to MOUNT on car for nite driving though.....
Will feed back more in due time.

Would you recommend it for surveillance? Getting paranoid after my suay accident. So only your front camera is wired for surveillance? Just curious, how many cameras do you have in your car? :) Thanks!
Edited by Iamadriver, 31 May 2011 - 10:47 PM.
Also, why didn't you connect the camera at the back to your car battery as well? Then you can do front/back surveillance.
Cheers

Yes, at the moment, only one front camera is for surveillance. I have three active cameras in the car. The rest, in my storeroom.

Hi Adrian, I thought the 'milo' camera have a power button? Why do you need to install a switch? Can't use the power button to off if it is connected to car battery?

The switch is for you to control the power supply to the camera. I do not wish power to be supplied to the camera if I am not driving for a while. This will prevent my car battery from being drained. As and when, just switch on/off to reset the camera.
At the moment, front is enough for me for surveillance. I park my car rear in and in a corner lot. So whoever approach my car will only come in one direction. Just look ard the carpark before u park.

Hi Bro Adrianli,
I just got my Milo Can camera last nite & was fiddling with it..
Got some ques hope you can kindly advise :
1) I inserted a 16GB Kingston SDHC card, and powered up the cam. But the screen showed "Card Full". Did you encounter this issue and wat was your remedy? Is it the card wrong or faulty? Hopefully is not the set faulty!

2) The manual is not detailed, IMO. And Need your help to advise how to set the date and time.
The Dealextreme website has a user who posted a method (http://www.dealextre...3557?r=16222746), and I followed it but still cannot set the date/time.
Do you have another method to do so?
3) Do we need to format the SDHC card to Fat32 or NTFS? Normally in WinXP, only ot FAT32 or ExFat.
Many Thanks in advance for your kind help, bro.

I took my microSD card and go to windows explorer and click on Quick Format and insert to the camera and its working already. Mine came with the time and date already set accurately so never tried to change it at all.
I tink is FAT32. Go to windows explorer, under my computer, u will see the drive appear. Right click and select quick format.
Sorry, I have basic computing knowledge only. Never into programming or watever. I use basic computer functions only.

Can ask how you have attached the front camera milo tin? From your viewclips it seems to be attached via a suction cup. Wondering if the weight is too much and cannot be held for long since it looks somehow big. Possible for this model to be attached to the rear view mirror?

Ya, I attached it using the suction cup provided. No problem at all.
Why would u want it to mount to the rear view mirror??? Follow the manual instructions and it should work accordingly.
If you want to attach it differently, then its up to ur own modification. Like how I attach my car camera to my r/c helicopter and fly ard with it. Or attach it to my head shooting a video as I walk ard.

Hi Bros of MiloCans..

I just found out tat Kingston 16GB Class 4 SDHC does give problems when used with the Milo Can cam (at least in my case it does..)
Have tried using another Sandisk 8GB Class 6 SDHC, and this time it works! Phew! (tot my set is RMA liao...

Will explore further with the tin can and hopefully can post some vids along the way.. stay tuned!

Well bro, I can assure you the Milo Can camera is not as heavy as it looks big.. in fact it is quite light..
The provided gimble suction holder is well constructed and I'm sure it can hold the camera weight well under normal use..

Of course, if you park under direct hot sun, the suction will give way sooner or later. And this is also the same for camera mounts attached by the 3M tape..
Up till now, I have played with this car cam, and am impressed by the video resolution (both normal and in darkness). And the still pics are also good..
Will post vids and pics of on the road scenes soon!

Overall, a good buy for me up till now..
Next challenge is to see how long the battery last, and the quality of the vids in a moving car and the ease of readability of the vids and pics.. Stay Tuned!

Thanks for the advice. I should be buying it soon as well haha.
Yes, at the moment, only one front camera is for surveillance. I have three active cameras in the car. The rest, in my storeroom.
Actually, you probably can use all and then produce those type of 360 degree movie. :)
I'm also thinking of doing what you do: two for the front, one for the back. But I'm thinking of having the one at the back for surveillance as well. Cos the area where i park doesn't really have a nice corner lot against the wall. Don't know if my car battery can take it or not. Or maybe I can just stick to two. Decisions, decisions...
I checked out the sampo that you talked about. But the rrp in TW$ on the official website not that cheap, or can get cheaper over in Taiwan?
Just some photos, haven't really tested it yet as i haven't gotten my Micro SD card.
Will be buying this weekend, hopefully it is working out great.

U can get it cheaper from Taiwan as I saw it there first. It was recommended by the Taiwanese sellers over there.
Either way, you can get the copy from Dealextreme. There are two versions at Dealextreme. Get the HD version.

If yes, Fwaaaa! Clear sia!

Yes, at the moment, only one front camera is for surveillance. I have three active cameras in the car. The rest, in my storeroom.
Wah Bro, Can share share how you use 3??
Front , Back, ????? Up ???? Hahaha.. just kidding bro..

But seriously, the 3rd one where you install ? ?
Thanks...

so that i can fix it in my van ( only travelling in day time + short journey + short trips) for added security

I saw the actual product this morning in his car, very small and sleek, the cool thing is that it has voice guides (lady voice) when you power ON and OFF, image quality is clear and sharp. I have yet to see the actual size for Caidrox but I think Black Vue is much smaller with the cylindrical design. Itchy liao.....:P
Milo can is cheap but the design and shape is weird leh. :)
My friend just replaced his China made DVR with flip down screen to Black Vue. He told me the China made one sometimes has missing video or delay in recording. Kind of scary, imagine if the accident really happens and not recorded!!

Good to see but lousy to eat... You buy???

At the end of the day, its the images and vids that are captured that will help you save ins claim $$$ and heartpain..
Black Vue is 640x480 30fps.. I also have another car cam that is same resolution (UFO car cam) ... Trust me, the images at this resolution are not clear enuf to capture the sharp events leading to the accident... Then why bother with this inferior cam at all???
I got the Milo Can bec its resolution is a step up from the UFO and Black Vue --> Milo is HD at 1280 x720 at 30fps.. The difference in image clarity is as night and day...
But dun just listen to me la... I'm just a practical guy with nary an eye for design aesthetics.. arbo I won't be eating durians liao!
