Hi,
Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the meet up this evening. BTW, I quoted $111,888 for the X model. Anyone else who knows of a better price and who is their pi please advise.
Thanks again.
.
$111,888 is quite high, delivery when? Full set of accessories?
Yes definitely my next car, just drove my friend Vezel, he just got it yesterday, the drive and looks is really damn solid, he got it below 110k with guaranteed Coe, definitely worth to check it out
Same..I saw a lot of Vezel on the road..I like the body part very sporty..where is ur friend bought from?
Hi vezel owners,
i am looking at purchasing a vezel x model. Just some questions to make up my mind..
As I frequently drive up malaysia (once a month), I need to find out the stability of the car. For example, my current ride feels very shaky and 'floating' when I drive at around 130km per hour. Therefore, I need to know if vezel is stable when driving at that speed or even slightly higher. Next question is roughly what is the top speed for vezel (as I saw the speedometer is until 180 only).
Please advise.
thanks in advance.
If got black one with full specs and brown leather seats for 1mth delivery.
3yr loan of $30k and take in my Mazda2 for $38k.
Price under $110k with no bulls**t....i will sign.
Hhhmmm, tomorrow maybe i should go and see car.

Hi bro, feel that if as long as ur comfortable & able to afford, that's already a fair price u willing to stomach liao... basically, u now nned to look for reliable PI that can make your deal goes smoothly, think u wana join the FB closed group & u should be able to collect some useless information... however, like some gurus mention here, dun join the wrong group though... lol...

Collecting my car....so far my PI seems quite good. Fairly good deal from the biggest PI around. After I signed, within few days they bid and secured my COE.
Down payment 10k. And confirm won't run cause they sell mainly those exotic cars for many years.
Wait for my final review very very soon.

If driving a vios is an upgrade , I would easily say everything also better ( cause I am having a Vios previously)

Insulation very subjective you may spend 200 or 1k , but I didn't do any as it's acceptable for me.
I'm on airwave now.
I'm glad to hear from 2 or 3 vezel owners who were previously on airwave, to say that the noise is better.

Coz i'm not intending to spend on sound insulation. Anything better than my current ride is considered as upgrade. Furthermore, i don't expect driving crossover/suv to be a as quiet as a sedan. lol
All the best to you!
You have?

Hi Hybrid Vezel onwers, I know it may be a stupid question but can I check if the car battery the chargeable type?

Any idea how long does the battery last with one charge? Any maintenance cost for the battery so far during your ownership?

I am tempted by the hybrid but the PI kept telling me hybrid is troublesome and expensive to replace the battery (blah blah blah) so I need to understand more. Any idea which are the workshops that keep stock of the batteries?

I should have been at the hybrid gathering last night.

Yes. But that's Japan domestic use, climate etc.. I'm checking if anyone has recommedations after using other types..
Have you read the manual for Vezel? It's 0w20.
For tropical climate I think w30 is most balanced. W40 offer best protection but there will be slight power loss.
W20 I think too thin for tropical weather.
Btw I dun own a vezel but this should be standard for all cars.

its everywhere......drove into a MSCP..saw 4 vezels......and that's just 3 floors......

Haha Prive condo basement carpark got 3-4 and 1 HRV and it's only 1 condo..

Older engines use W40 cus its thicker.. and most workshops just carry for the sake of it..

The Honda Vezel remains the most bang for buck B&B car in the market.
But the main selling points to me are:
Great styling inside out
Decent power to capacity ratio
Spacious cabin and boot
Made in Japan
My preference is actually, the new Tucson or Sante Fe which are really solid and beyond many Japs.
Thanks

Honda engines are reliable...used to drive a 05 civic...but its other parts that disappoint usually... and not sure if the idling vibration issue is solved...last heard the civics still have that issue...but generally honda engine is the best among the jap makers...personally I prefer boxer subaru for engine....

Yup, based on my experience, new engines work best with w30 although w40 won't spoil your engine too. But also based on experience, w30 makes the engine rougher and louder, but power delivery is good. If engine is older than 100k mileage, better stick to w40.

For Turbo engines, w40 is the only way to go for local tropics.

w20? unless you using for running in engines or change every 5k, I don't recommend.

Hi Bro,

i keep hearing tropical climate, hot weather dun use thin oil.
I have yet to find a satisfactory answer.
Operating temperature of an engine in 0C ambient temperature is the same as that of 35C ambient temperature.
So what has weather got to do?
need specifics if possible to share?

biggest question i would like to ask is also, what oil to use specifically on start/stop engines. Why is it when owners manual states use 0w20 oil, we can still come up with wise old man "myths" and assume thicker equals more protection? We're talking about synthetic concocted oil, not purely base oil i feel.

Changed mine to mobile1 5W30. It was much quieter and more torque and no draggy feel the the 5W40.
i wonder it the high compression engine of the Vezel is why the manual states 0w20?

Awesome stuff!!

Really looks close to black. thought it would have looked more purple.

Which PI u bought ur hybrid x from? can PM me?

Cos all this is due to experience from car ownership. Truth be known I don't know the technical specifics but I do notice thinner oil tends to boil off fast than thicker oils. I quote you an example:

My prev car manual states recommended is W30

I used to bring my own EO with w30. But I realized that although I get better FC and smoother power, the oil starts to deteriorate after 7K and oil level suffers abit, not to unsafe level but significant enough to see on the dipstick.

After my driving pattern changed, I decided to use w40 instead sinceIwill be driving less, mainly shorter distance and stretching servicing intervals. The oil levelwas now able retain up to 8-9k, The oil color and quality looked more lasting too. But of course I have no proof to back that up, I notice a few factors might change that, (I moved to MSCP so the car is not baked under the sun, the engine is already a few 10ks so might have less sediments as it's fully run-in.

Of course that's based on my own conclusion. My current ride, like your, recommends w20 in the manual. Maybe nowadays new cars are better engineered to take thinner oils but I'm still skeptical. Anyway my AD is putting w30 so I just follow their recommendations. I also read online that most folks in seasonal region would change to thicker oil during Summer, but SG is all year summer...lol

So since Vezels are a unique car without any locally "recommended viscosity" for engine oil, it still up the owners to decide which is best for them. I'm only recommending based on my own experience.

BTW on talking about synthetic oils, minerals are for VW's twinchargers with7DSG transmission...

Full leather refers to all leather parts will be in real leather.
Half leather means probably half of the leather parts will be using synthetic leathers instead of real leather.

For myself, i experienced (from my past cars as well as parent's, relatives'. Synthetic leathers tends to last longer than real leather, and it breathes better than real one. Therefore, I'm good with half leather & would rather save the topup( if required by PI) for other purposes.

But that's just me, some people just prefer it to be in Full genuine leather, and probably it's smell, lol.

Honda engines are reliable...used to drive a 05 civic...but its other parts that disappoint usually... and not sure if the idling vibration issue is solved...last heard the civics still have that issue...but generally honda engine is the best among the jap makers...personally I prefer boxer subaru for engine....

Boxer engine is good unless it is turbo. NA is confirm underpower and Boxer engine sibei jiak you. Not really suitable in Singapore daily usage. And boxer engine change timing belt is consider quite major change, the labour super expensive.
X model here
16" rims
air con have dual zone
no roof railings
i can control all windows from my side
have paddle shifters

Z have the following
dual color dash board (brown)
volume control on steering
17" rims
2 tone fabric seats (most will change to leather anyway)

tats all i know

Hybrid X doesnt have dual zone aircon only Z. Paddle shift is standard across all hybrid range while volume control on steering are mostly non-factory fitted. Additional difference mostly cosmetic including gun metallic bumper versus body coloured, black interior vs brown interior option, chrome exhaust finisher,

My understanding is we can forget about the no after W cos that denotes winter. which we dont have here. 20 is thinner can better for new engine due to tightness between piston and cyclinder. As engine age then need thicker oil to fill the gap. due to wear and tear.

I am definitely going for 20 or at least 30 oil. Never 40.

Yes i am one of those that cannot accept half leather so i nego for full leather.
The smell, the feel is totally different.
Real leather smells better and feels better and in my opinion lasts longer.
Synthetics are plasticky and stretch too easily. They dont give as good a support as full leather seats.
Since the price difference is not great ($500) and i was very shuang kwai, dealer covered for me.

I used to drive a 05 civic also. Drove all the way to scrap. The engine very quiet and no vibration during idling leh. Sometimes my fren who drove the car thought the engine is not on. Machiam hybrid

This is from SAE technical paper published on Oct 2014.

http://papers.sae.org/2014-01-2779/

quote:
To address these two seemingly discordant performance characteristics, PTT has developed a new API SN, SAE 0W-20 engine oil with a novel viscosity modifier and conducted a field trial with extended oil drain intervals to gain a better understanding of its performance in tropical climates, especially its wear protection performance in passenger cars.

Results from the field trial showed that the new novel viscosity modifier was able to maintain excellent shear stability compared to the reference oil throughout both phases of tests.

The report is not from experienced mechanic but from Engineers.

We are using API SN grade oil now. Lets move forward and leave the old myth behind.

Does your engine has 'de de' noise at idling? Similar to taxi idling..
Mine seems quite obvious..

since so many people are interested to get the Vezel, shall we start a group buy and we can get cheaper price?

can go together find some reliable PI.

Hi mind having me in the group? I'm still researching for a better dealer and the group will helps me a lot , Much thanks
Sorry guys

Gonna ask smth unrelated to this topic but it concerns my purchase for Vezel.

Have anyone placed a credit card deposit with AD & wait out 6 non guaranteed consecutive bids & didnt get the car due to escalating COE?

I had previously booked a car 6 bids non guaranteed with AD in Feb 2015. They refunded me by credit card after the 3rd unsuccessful consecutive bid.

My question is: What is the grace period given by the bank for the AD to make refunds by credit card?

Thankyou
u bot vezel from AD?

I am based on my previous WRX EJ20 engine experience. It is a very good ride, stable (4WD).
But 4WD is overkill in Singapore road. Lesser vibration compare to other japanese ride.
Just cannot tahan the FC lolz. By the way, i never drive a TS 1.6L before.

Hi, instead of trying to be expert and explain myself, i find this simple article a good read..simplifies the explanation and to the point.

"When the car, the engine, piston, and piston block are new, it is always advisable to use mineral oil. The uneven molecular structure of this oil makes the uneven surfaces of the components and auto parts rub with each other and get eroded, thus making the surface even and smooth. This is very useful as the young components of the engine get into shape, and adapt to the mechanism. As the engine grows older, the components can be well maintained, and they start running without friction. This oil keeps the engine in a good condition, and helps to increase the engine's durability."

Bro, u provided a very useful article, but how can i know when the car is not new anymore & time to switch from Mineral to Synthetic? If by monitoring mileage? then at what mileage to switch?
Half leather means those parts in contact with body one is real leather. Other parts are pvc.

YeS i know.
I cannot accept half leather.
It looks and feels not right to me.
I am particular about such things.
So i insist on full leather not just half.
Actually must top up $500 but in the end dealer absorb.

The most kiasu of users (nothing wrong at all btw), follow this regime to run in the engine.

1st 1000km - Rev no more than 2500rpm
change oil at 1000km, use mineral oil

next 5000km - Rev no more than 3000rpm
change oil at 6000km, use synthetic oil

After 6000km, rev whatever you want.

For Vezel, i highly suggest using Grade 4 or 5 Synthtic API SN oil 0w20 or 5w20. The highest one should go is 5w30 for start stop engine. Not all same viscosity but diff brand oil performs the same, it really depends on the concoction of added polymers, detergents etc.

my own experience..

5w30 Liquimoly is way rougher than 5w30 Amsoil Signature. The former caused my engine to vibrate at idle.

now using 0w20 Amoil Signature Series. The best oil so far for my ride.

if motul 300v ow20 is avail in SG, i would try if not too exp.

Why should i wait to change the oil first time?

Your Honda engine was delivered with an oil that is specially formulated for new engines that have not yet developed their "natural" wear patterns and may contain minute particles from the manufacturing process.

American Honda strongly recommends this special oil be left in the engine long enough for these wear patterns to develop, usually until the first maintenance interval specified in your Owner's Manual, based on your specific driving conditions.

Bro....1st maintenance means 1000km or? How many of Vezelians had changed to synthetic after 1000km?
Quite a lot of info on this thread and thanks for the contributors. Recently been looking around for a Vetzel and realized that the Parf value is 4k upon scrapped because of CEVS while HRV is around 10k. Is that the norm?
BTW, was quoted 111k for a Vetzel X model with standard freebies. Is that reasonable? Hope to hear from fellow contributors.
Yup. Hrv had higher omv and parf since no cevs rebate. But effectively you are paying like 15k more to begin with for a lower spec model somemore, and that negates the 6k gain in parf.
Some will tell u 111k for X is exp.

bro, the Honda USA site recommends to stick to the user manual. ie 1st change at 1K no later than that.

the main thing is the special formulated oil from factory should not be changed too early. some kiasu owner might change early with the thought of earlier change is always best with no harm done. but in this case you would be throwing away this special formulated oil.

No CEV rebate also means the car is not energy efficient which translate to higher co2 emission.

Thks for the info bro. The debate i see going around is to use mineral or synthetic after 1k. In the past, i always stick to mineral for first 10k but recently gurus commented that newer eng no longer requires so...

Recived news, Japan is holding back to sell Vezel X, S & G model...as this cars is actually meant for Japan local market. somehow, this cars became a high demand in South East Asia, & new Zealand & Australia for best petrol efficency n safety features, to what I understand, Japan local dealer have been exporting these cars more than selling in their own local market.... now the ratio for export vezel to overseas, eg : A dealers from Singaporean will have to buy any 3 other make japanese cars & allowed to buy 1 vezel. do expect, influx in price when the supply for vezel is low in coming month.. as it it some company have already increase their car selling price by 30%... my advise for those whom still considering n hoping for Coe to crash before making decision... can forget it, vezel price will soon join the price of HRV going around $125800....decide now before price shoot up. cheers n have a great week.
Just wanted to share this, information from this facebook pagehttps://www.facebook...82496/timeline/

If what he says come true abt the price of Vezel matching HRV, then there may a shift towards buying from KM despite HRV lower specs for local warranty, 3 yrs free servicing, higher OMV, & lower interest rate.

Lets hear some thoughts?
Edited by wookie_fan, 16 September 2015 - 10:25 PM.
Is it advisable to bid own Coe? Any bros can share his experience?
I had a friend who did this & end up selling his COE to a dealer at a loss because nobody wanted to sell him the car alone without COE. Dealers explained to him that there is no ex stock had to wait 3 mths, which defeat the purpose as the COE is only valid for 3 mths.

From my opinion, it is not a case where there is no ex stock. I suspect dealer wants to earn from every component apart from the car itself like COE, loan, insurance. So they not bothered to sell the car only. This is just my assumption
u bot vezel from AD?

Nope, I changed my mind & intend to buy a Vezel after booking another car 6 bids non gtd from AD. That is provided all 6 bids unsuccessful
Is it advisable to bid own Coe? Any bros can share his experience?

If you can go thru the hassle of the bidding of yourself plus the upfront 10k..

There are few of them who sell body price only..
