I would think that this Corolla would have better build quality than any Altis. This model also nearly 20 years liao and the reason why you don't see it anymore because most of the rest have been wiped out by the Aug 2011 COE expiry date.this modal like not very common leh..................think it was replace quite fast.............you sure thinking of this car???..............
But that being said, got to make detailed inspections to ensure this car can last till end of its COE. It's a clean and neat example in nearly stock condition. I quite like it actually. My uncle in Penang has one and it drives well too.

the AE101 is a pretty reliable work horse, built during the time when toyota was over engineered. Lots of mods you can do to it too, like swapping at silvertop/blacktop 4AGE 20V with a 6 speed gearbox plus lsd.
