Actually for TVs should wait about a year if can take it, because now 3D content is being pushed forward but 3D TV is still new and being pushed to forefront.
That's y normal TVs are getting very cheap, they are actually clearing stocks. Some of the TVs are actually selling below cost because need to push next generation TVs out.
Once enough content is here, need to upgrade... So if you can tahan another 1 year or so, best to wait cause 3D will last at least another 5 years if successful.

Uhmm.. usually in format wars, may not be the best tech that wins. It is almost always the most adopted tech, currently active shutter (alternate frame sequecing) 3D is already being pushed agressively and sold by 4 out of 4 big boys.
The biggest boys in TVs are Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG. So most likely active shutter 3D is here to stay, the in built 3D (Autostereoscopy) based on stereogram is not very effective for moving pictures and too costly to be built as it has to track each head movement and eyeline to shutter the picture or display mulitple views. So very unlikely it will happen.
Imagine those abstract images you have to stare at to see the real picture. That is stereogram.

OS4.2 is supposed to solve the slowness problem of OS4.1. So far no problem, seems quite fast, doesn't slow down even though I upgraded direct from 3.1. But don't know what happened I nearly bricked the iphone during upgrading, luckily managed to save it
Yes the switch on ipad is now used as volume on/off instead of portrait/landscape. Cannot change at the moment. They should leave it for flipping screen as it's a useful feature. It's not a phone so the silent function is a bit redundant. Anyway I always put my screen to lanscape (like a laptop screen) so i don't flip my screen that often.
