Even though I am now driving a Honda Vezel, I used to be a regular at Tan Chong Ubi workshop many years back.

I last time gong gong keep on signing their preventive maintenance program for 7 years straight as never been to outside workshops in the past.

All the time waiting, smoking by SA, frustrations of problem not solved are still encountered even after so many years...

Hope Tan Chong can improve their customer service and workshop standard soon as QQ is a nice looking car and I can understand the "pain and heartache" in taking annual leave for so many times to stay in Ubi lounge.....but when I am the last customer to take car....I realised that my problem is not solved at all. (squeaky sound from back-seats in Nissan Latio).

Tokko,

Indeed TC's Service is needing improvement as we shared here.

Since we say AD is one key consideration and you are driving a Vezel but into this thread, why not share your experience with PI's service to verify or alleviate concern with new cars from PIs as reference since quite sure PIs also varies though I expect worse ?

Cheers !
Can check if you all face the Time issue on the Headunit? The clock sometime just jump by its own somehow... anyone face this issue and how to solve it...

What do you mean "jump by its own"?

I know that the time is sometimes inaccurate when we just start the car. But it gets updated once the the GPS is connected on the HU.
I had a different experience BT and TP service centre. During one of the servicing, at BT, they change the seal of the oil sump or something like that, paid a few hundred for it.. Forward a few weeks while at another private workshop doing a pre malaysia trip check, the mechanic say my oil sump leaking, but say can still drive to malaysia, just need to monitor and top up.
After my Malaysia trip, went to BT to fixed it. After end of the day, they said the oil is likely to be spilled over at the sump by other mechanic, and they wash the are of oil and check the sump is ok. Still having some doubt, I waited for a couple weeks and sent to the private workshop to check, they they say confirm is leaking, oil can be seen.
Went back to BT to demand they fixed it, and not wash the oil away. End of day receive the report, say they fixed with new seal.
Next servicing cycle, went to TP instead. They check found oil sump leaking, and fix the problem.. At least TP has the initiative enough to check and fixed the seal without me informing them. To play safe , i waited a few weeks then went to the private mechanic to check. This time the mechanic say it's clear, no leak.
Tks for sharing ...guess bad apples anywhere and everywhere unless regular workshop and owner. I use riverview at autopoint and while expensive, service had been great. Ther are 3 customer relations mgr ...haha

Speed bro.Just did my 5000 servicing today. After servicing, notable improvements in pick up speed and lesser free play with brakes. They fixed all the rattling some in the front and back so all good... for now. :)
Anyway, when I am on the GPS maps, sometimes along the road it chimes a "Ding!" randomly. Anyone know what the alert is about?
Thats what i mean... sometime just become inaccurate... this is becoz we activated the GPS??What do you mean "jump by its own"?
I know that the time is sometimes inaccurate when we just start the car. But it gets updated once the the GPS is connected on the HU.
There are many dings you can on but I think the one that Mred1-2 is telling you is you have the Driver Alert Warning On (pp 3 of 6 on the HU navigation option ) and you have been exceeding the speed limit on that road.Just did my 5000 servicing today. This current version of the HU software has a bug in the sense that the time readout is only from the gps and not an internal clock. When you parked your car in an underground car park, the clock remembers only the last time and stopped counting because gps signal is lost. Once you are in the open it regains the gps signal and updates hence the time jumpThats what i mean... sometime just become inaccurate... this is becoz we activated the GPS??

Yes, once you go into indoor or underground car park, many a times the clocks timing will go off timing. Jumps to correct timing only after about a minute after the car gets out of carpark. Can check if you all face the Time issue on the Headunit? Bukit Timah because previously I lodge my complain and spoke to the svc mgr about the power loss and brake release delay issues. As he said not all cars are affected, those affected ones will be given priority for the update. Not sure if they automatically update all the 1.2T.
Somehow before the software upgrade, brakes delay can be simulated by ;
1. Parking ur car
2. Put to park mode and engaged handbrake
3. Idling stop cuts in
4. Off ur engine without restarting engine
5. Wait 1~2 mins and restart ur engine
6. Put to drive and release handbrake
7. Try moving off and if ur foot brake if not release immediately, u heard some mechanical sounds of the brake being release.
8. Will be reset after idling stop activates again.
If this happen then u need to go for the software upgrade.
Note: most svc engineers know nuts abt this issue and they need to consult the svc mgr.
Mred1-2
was the software upgrade mentioned in the TC Invoice after servicing?
I have own the QQ for 4 mths and this are the problem I face:
1) headunit misalight.
Went to Bukit Timah service centre to report together with my 5K servicing. They did nothing and service advisor told me it is normal for this misalight. After that the service mgr came in and agree with the misalight. Advise me to schedule another day again to re-align when my intention was to settle it at the same day as I cause arrange me during weekend. This cost me 100 dollar taxi fare to down my car for a day and was not fix.
2) Power lost issue. It almost got me into accident. Told the SA about it but they take it so lightly and anyhow performance diagnostic and close the case. I believe most of the owner here face the same problem.
3) reverse sensor continuously beeping without object behind. Booked an appt worth Toa Payoh servicing went there 10 mins earlier but waited for about 15 mins before a admin staff assist me. He SA totally ignore me and left the service report 1 side and continue to serve other people. Totally piss me off. After about an hour they call me say that car is ready without replacing. I repeatly told the service mgr without replacing will it fix the problem is confirm with me it will fix he problem. In additional piss me off is I need to drive my car out of the workshop myself without washing it. Sigh.... After 1 or 2 week the problem came back and I save the trouble and ignore it.
3) Air con issue. I was so unlucky that 2 days ago my air con faulty sigh got to arrange and go back servicing centre. It is very costly to down my car for a days as my work nature I need to travel often and have to pay additional cab fare. Is it fair to me. Even no shuttle service out to the nearest mrt. What is crap service.
So far the service experience that I have is BELOW AVERAGE. Do consider other alternative, car is to assist and bring convenient to our daily life not adding problem to our daily life.
Hey bro, thanks for sharing, power loss really sounds scary. Damn bad situation, pray ur ride gives u no more problems.
Drive safe
Went for 2nd servicing today at 6k+ as shown on my reminder label and did the software update.
Moved off from carpark and throttle seems more responsive and easily revv up to 3krpm with my usual foot. Feels that i need to depress less to achieve the same results than before. Not sure if it's really the software update or new engine oil is smoother or maybe it's just my head.
Anyway start/stop didn't cut in for the initial drive. It did cut in my next trip. Will monitor further....
How the FC after the software updated?
Heard the rpm had went up as compared to before.
Maybe too early for you to comment on the FC...do feedback at a later stage.
Thanks.
Yes it states "update software" but I did request for it during handover. Advisor was at first clueless abt it but I told him to check with svc mgr as I previously highlighted power loss n brake delays issues to him before.Mred1-2

Empathize fully with you - customer performance is wholly less than adequate. You do need to tell them all that you need doing on the car before you come otherwise it is considered as breakins to their plans and they won't easily accommodate. 1. On HU align, I assume this is done otherwise put it in
2. Power lost- get the latest software update installed.
3. On reverse sensor (s) , insist they replace it (them) as these are self calibrated proximity type but whose sensitivity cannot be adjusted .
4. Air con-: obviously needing to get it done.
Tell them you need them to get you a spare car or compensate your taxi fare while the defects are being remedied because of your work.
Btw I see a number of madza 3 (& 2) getting frustrated over vibration problems http://www.mycarforu...97#entry5755006
( and I have seen every car make also have their share of sway owners ) so unfortunately in your case you were one of those souls in this category

Brake issues like mine in vid too?
Think Nissan is not ethical at all. If there's an issue, they should acknowledge it and inform all owners.Yes it states "update software" but I did request for it during handover. I specifically tell myself to take note of the rpm. Before update idling was 750rpm. After update increase slightly and hovers above 750rpm mark. FC seems to increase slightly cos I drove faster after 2nd servicing...lolHow the FC after the software updated?

Well not all cars are affected right? Some bros here don't encounter these issues at all.Think Nissan is not ethical at all. If there's an issue, they should acknowledge it and inform all owners.

I cannot be sure but it sounds like either the clip on one of your brake pads securing it is misaligned or slightly out of place. It doesn't sounds like the pad is worn but if it unevenly worn (unlikely) it could cause a problem. I would insist TC to change all the brake pads. Also to update the software.https://m.youtube.co...h?v=fGf5j7wzjX8

I reported those issues to TC in early Jan and mgr told me abt the software release somewhere in Feb. I think he did advise me meanwhile to disable the idling stop functions and check back with him afterwards. They should still inform owners; let those who face the issues have a solution than driving in fear of safety.
So far what kind of issue did u encountered and did you report it to TC or they offer u any other solution before?
They insisted that it's the characteristic of the car. Tried to add shim but sound recurred. My previous car has similar sound but mech troubleshoot it to one spring coil not sitting properly on the mounting. Just a slight turn solve the issue but if this is from the brakes then I'm not sure abt it.I cannot be sure but it sounds like either the clip on one of your brake pads securing it is misaligned or slightly out of place. I had that intermittent warning "key system fault". So I changed the keyFob battery the other day. Last night it became more serious. Orange light always on when engine is started. That T shape logo which means Malfunction Indicator Light - engine control system malfunction. So no choice got to go down to BT today. I forgot to ask about the software update. I thought they will update the software for all 1.2T owners. Until i check the TC invoice now. There was no mention of it.
If its the characteristic then every QQ should have this sound ah?They insisted that it's the characteristic of the car. Tried to add shim but sound recurred. Am lost, used to be isolated to the rear but front has clanking noise too.
Lol precisely!!!If its the characteristic then every QQ should have this sound ah?
They won't do for all 1.2 automatically at this stage. Maybe those who updated first like mine are the guinea pigs.I had that intermittent warning "key system fault". My car took an extra 1.5hrs for the update, not sure if it's really true for the extra time or they bulls**t me cos there were many cars that day. But I did saw the mech took my car out for a test drive just before I collect my car.
Brake shim is to mitigate against brake squeal definitely of no use against this. This noise is a click . It could be or could not be brake related. Troubleshooting is never easy when it is difficult to point source of sound . Mred1-2 do you know the name of the mechanic (it will be in your sheet/ system) who solved your problem , can you share the name with QashqiGrey , as it maybe worth requesting that particular mechanic to have this part on his car check out. They insisted that it's the characteristic of the car. With radio off, i only heard some frictions noise or braking sounds when doing cornering. May be it's the active trace control or traction control activating and if they say this is the characteristic then I would believe.Lol precisely!!!
Not when moving off from standstill.

Mid air turbulence... Meaning u inside car and car moves up and then down suddenly?Realise that my ride is pretty bumpy despite deflating it to 33 PSi. At time on certain part of the highway, it felt like those mild air turbulence. Is this the character of a 2L? Cannot recall how it's like during test drive. Anyone having the same experience as me?
If u narrow down to a certain part of highway then it's the unevenness of the road that causes it.
Do u feel one part of the car especially the rear is like floating in the air then next moment the rear contacts the ground and car unstable a while?
Well, not as bad as what you have describe. Due to uneven road surfaces, can feel quite bumpy. My Friend say is the road surfaces but l don't agree.Mid air turbulence... Meaning u inside car and car moves up and then down suddenly?

Just read pp 5-60 of the owner's manual. Wonder whether this relates to what you played. They insisted that it's the characteristic of the car. Tried to add shim but sound recurred. Am lost, used to be isolated to the rear but front has clanking noise too.
It says there is a self test feature on the ABS that:
The computer has a built in diagnostic feature that tests the system each time you start the engine and move the vehicle at a low speed in forward or reverse. When the self test occurs, you may hear a clunk noise ...
Same comment appearing on the clunk noise written about the self test on the ESP system see pp5-61.

Did any of the ABS or EBS lit up when you hear the sound? It's not only at start up. Occurs throughout journey, parking.
I am tempted to think it is indeed associated with the braking system because here's what I think :
1. The brake system has a learning program and each braking action modify them. When this click / clank happens it modifies/ corrects its action to your braking behavior but appears it has never settled down to its optimal form to suit you.
2. There are 2 actuators independently controlling the braking system so that you have at least 2 brakes working . So the now back and later front noise could possibly be explainable from the independent control ?
Sometimes cars are not put together sufficiently properly at the factory ( these things happen with every make), no fault of TC (in fact it becomes much more difficult for mechanic and maintenance to rectify -you will be wrong to blame them as the problem was caused by someone else putting it together )
There have also been fiddling with your brake system, so parts could have been more quickly worn or loosen.
I would ask them to change out everything on the brake system - actuators, brake pads (except the brake disc) , drain and refill the brake oil , and update the software program .
I would get back to the SE and ask him/ her to set up a meeting with their management on how they can help you and offer you the Peace of Mind in Vehicle Ownership, that your car doesn't give you much confidence that it can last 10 years even when being maintained "properly" , because you have already suffered real concerns and anxiety , lost plenty of time, put up with a lot of inconveniences and this has consumed your energy and distracted you from your work and is still not getting anywhere to ending ... See what way out or win win solution TC management can have for both parties.. And then you could try CASE even legal...but you will have to weigh it whether this will help and protect your interest and then you must be prepared to spend / waste even more effort , time , money , ..or whether you risk not gaining anything at all as TC may then sit back and not do anything more for you unless compelled to...

Can I be added into the WhatsApp group?Indeed Service experienced tpy not great but BT and Ubi had been ok. Wiper spray not working after 2 weeks from collection and tpy did diagnostic and cannot repair. They refer me to Ubi and fix <1 hr cos only found choked and now working fine for 2 mths +
On power loss, most of us DO NOT experience it. Out of 100+ bros in the whatsapp group, >5% reported it but no doubt a concern.
Cheers ...
Yep, GM has been following my case. They have been repairing it for past 9 mths, but recurrs. No ABS light on, nothing. Just that if TC cannot repair, they must admit it is beyond them, not drag on. Have forwarded a letter from CASE snd LTA is informed too. Just that till now, they still claim it is a characteristic of the car, similar to the gtr, abt brake spacing...Did any of the ABS or EBS lit up when you hear the sound?

Gosh. These feedbacks to TC must be solved! Worrying. This is my 2nd Nissan and all had been well. For the past 1 week, Qashqai had provided a great drive. A little rattling can be heard at low SPD with radio totally off. But it's intermittent. Somehow slight pressure at passenger door near the glove compartment would stop the sounds. My reverse cam went crazy once but putting to drive and reverse again solved the issue.

Bro, good luck to your purchase. 2015 China's QQ is totally differ from our QQ.

To be on the safe side, better get a Japan assembled Nissan like xtrail or 2 liter QQ (assembled in Japan?).

It's exaggerated by those who suffer problems! Cos they, including me, are frustrated that TC cannot solve them and always say it is like tat!QQ 1.2 really have so many issues or exaggerated because it is such a popular car so bound to have higher incidence of complains?
To be on the safe side, better get a Japan assembled Nissan like xtrail or 2 liter QQ (assembled in Japan?).

Both items brought from TaoBao thr 65 Daigeo.
Change tyres profile, should solve the bumpy and noise issue. Agree?Does feel bumpy, and if you find a good solution please share.
But Aust review said despite 225/45/R19, the ride is smooth and stable. Not bumpy. Puzzle.....

You will be surprised how uneven our roads are especially the PiE near Toa Payoh. Floating feeling...Well, not as bad as what you have describe. Due to uneven road surfaces, can feel quite bumpy. My Friend say is the road surfaces but l don't agree.
Check or cheque?
Oppss... Yeah, cheque.... Hehehhe...
So many women so little time...So many cars, so little money..Oppss... Yeah, cheque.... Hehehhe...
That was my QQ virgin route from TC to home. My Friend say the problem not lie with QQ. Is the road surfaces. Even his Honda Odessesy also experience loud road noises. You will be surprised how uneven our roads are especially the PiE near Toa Payoh. Floating feeling...
if on paper specs, qq2 & 1.2 suspension difference is at the rear. But that's paper specs. Not sure how much impact it will translate to.You will be surprised how uneven our roads are especially the PiE near Toa Payoh. Floating feeling...
If u feel that car is floating when going uneven road, it Is likely due to unsprung weight of the car. Can google on this. Basically when going humps, the wheel(rim) will be push towards top of car. The spring/absorbers will take more effort to push back the rim downwards if the rim is heavy. So the longer it takes for the spring to push the rim to contact the road, the longer u feel your car is floating.
In summary to improve on this, u need to reduce the weight at "bottom" part of car. Rims and brake discs are the 2 areas that can greatly reduced the unsprung weight.

My daughter fall asleep when she was siting behind when I test drive the 2.0 but not the 1.2 even my wife said the 1.2 not as comfortable compare to the 2.0.. somehowI don't know y so many ppl with 1.2 so many problems while my friend driving the 2.0 said no problem at all except the 1.2.. 2.0 rear is independent links. 1.2t is torsion beams.
Vezel is using the macpherson.
I like 1.2t suspension though on paper independent perform better.

If no pictures show, then better dun buy from this seller.

To replace you with a new car? To refund you monetarily ?
I am sure they have had very wise counseling from their corporate legal team coupled with lawyers experienced in some matters to provide the response that they did.
They would also have looked at what has transpired in the industry here and beyond in other countries .
There is no case here for the first 2 to be awarded to you . It will be unprecedented and made so much more stronger when a no fault stance is being asserted by them (and supported by the manufacturer as the oem principal themselves has not issued a recall ). Even in the case of VW or other makes in the USA, it is just the recall to get a remedy done not a refund nor a replacement . Also such things as NVH (noise , vibration, harshness) are never spelled out as part of the warranty. So if you hoping for this , you can forget it. And if the GM is taking a personal interest , it means it suggests that they are doing everything that they can. It is a good move on their side since a mediation if offered by CASE to both sides (them and you) is preempted and will instead be deemed unnecessary since the senior management is already cooperating and personally trying to solve your problems.

i was thinking that 1.2 is econ for road tax, and engine turbo so got respectable power.
Thinking more frm angle of safety and practicality and good running costs.
Heard some bad feedbk abt aircon and loss of power. Also abt poor svc from Tan Chong.
Hope to get done honest feedbk from the QQ enthusiasts, thanks

Low running costs and good FC - True
Respectable power from 1.2T - Depends.. it performs like a 1.5L or 1.6L NA with earlier torque, that's all. Body still quite big. But enough for everyday drive.
Safety, practicality - True, lots of safety tech. Creature comforts. Generous space.
Handsome design - Exterior and interior.

You should be more worried about quality issues.. like rattling in the cabin, powerloss issue (not sure if resolved), suspension noises over humps.

As for poor servicing, which AD actually has good servicing one? My family had Mercedes Benz, Lexus, Jaguar, Renault, VW and Nissan over the years. None of them are actually good.

Thanks to all the bros that replied. It's not speed cause it only chimes when I am travelling very slowly and never on the highway. So it's bus lane warning. But good to know that it can alert for speed too.

I'm not sure if its the same thing but my 2 month old QQ started having strange brake pedal behaviour too.

It started when I parking the car. My wheel was turned, and when I stepped on the brakes to go into reverse, it made a mechanical click sound. It felt like there was an additional amount of "give" in the brake pedal that wasn't there before. It's like a light tap would only move the pedal but not engage the brake until after the "click", although the brake light would still be lit.

So because I was curious, I kept tapping on the brake pedal to get feel of it. That was when the brake pedal suddenly "locked up" in the raised position, meaning I can't press down on it anymore. Good thing I was already parked so I turned off the engine, waited for a moment before turning it back on. Thankfully, the brake "released" and I could press it all the way down again. The clicking also mysteriously disappeared. Everything felt engaged as it should.

Was this similar to anyone else's experience?
Fyi, TC BT cannot do tyre rotation for 10k servicing with the side steps on.
Can always do it outside. $20-25 only small $$$.
No hope for TC WS, if not warranty issue, will just do all the servicing outside.

Is it the mechanical switch "click" sound when you put ur gear in park and step on the brakes?

your brakesis fully pressurisedas uwere "pumping" ur brakes when you keep stepping on it.
SA told me that their ramp cannot lift up the car because of my side steps. Imo their tyre mechanic is not willing to go the extra miles for customers.Huh? what's the reason?
Cannot jack up the car?
I know, I will rotate my tyre outside. I could do it with 2 jacks by myself if I want to.Can always do it outside. $20-25 only small $$$.

Precisely! TC WS is a joke.what joke? cannot jack up car?

Bro, not true. My svcing was at BT and they can jack up the car with my side steps.

Usually for proper rotation, you have to do high speed rebalancing of your rims/tyres before rotating.

I wasn't in park mode when it started, but my wheels were turned. I was depressing the brakes to stop to switch to reverse gear. Its not a switch type of "click", more like

Stage 1 - there is a gap between 2 parts somewhere while the brakes fully released
Stage 2 - depressing the brakes the resistance is very light
Stage 3 - the 2 parts finally touch resulting in the click and the usual brake resistance returns

Almost like the brake pads were suddenly removed and the clamping action has very light resistance until the brake clamps actually touch the disc itself before the normal resistance returned. If that makes sense at all.

I was "pumping" the brakes between stage 2 and 3 and each time the click would sound at the stage 3. The strange thing is after switching off the engine and then starting, this behaviour disappeared. But it happened again yesterday. Same trigger when my wheels were turned and it started until I turned off the engine.

Wondering if I should bring it to TC workshop to have it looked into.
