Hi Ordix,

Went to test drive the 2.0L and 1.2T (again). Wow, the 2.0L engine really feel more more solid (of course right?) than the 1.2T. I didn't notice anything about the rigid gear engagement from P to D. I also like the moon roof.

Having said that, after due consideration of the $17k price difference.... as well as the road tax(double) and insurance (about $400 more), I think i will be willing to forgo the 2.0L and go for the 1.2T...

Now the question on when to commit.. any expert able to "predict" when is a good time to buy? in order words, how much more will the COE drop, and when is the best time... (other than before GE. haha)

I'm driving 2.0.
U should test drive both.
Each has its own pull factor.
I testdrive 2.0 3times, 1.2 2times n xtrail 1time.
The acceleration didn't feel sluggish for 2.0.
Xtrailer and 1.2 felt similar.
If u go testdrive 1.2, u take note of when u switch gear from P to D. The engagement into each gear felt very rigid and hard. 2.0 is smooth.
I bought 2.0 cos that time only that option and i was choosing between x-trail n qq. Chose qq for the moonroof over xtrail sunroof n driving n handling felt more seamless.
If I were to buy now I would have a big headache cos 1.2 pricing really attractive.
Likely I will stil get 2.0 for the moonroof and
Drive wise 1.2 might not feel much difference from my Juke 1.6.
If you are comparing the 1.2 and 2.0, u really need to testdrive both to decide yourself. :)

Yes,

I have and existing ride for trade in. Why not much difference? You mean the trade in value is also dependant on the current COE? pardon my ignorance, why har?

Heheh yeah, depends on quite a no of factor.
If your ride still new, best is to sell or ask SE to sell for you.
Trade-in to AD is like trade in to Telco, fix price but they wont scrutinize much.
Your SE should be able to help you resell to dealer (not necessary AD eat themselves)
But if your phone already old then trade in to Telco no hassle. =)
Everyone wants to buy low sell high mah.
plus NPMP till 50k :)

Was thinking of asking SE for roof rails for 1.2

NPMP stands for?

Nissan Preventive Maintenance Program

It commonly covers 2 years (40,000 km or about 4 sessions at 10,000 km intervals) of vehicle servicing including parts.

I'm waiting for TC to work out the pricing for QQ.

I almost pulled the trigger to buy in early Jan but decided to wait out after learning of the coe quota increase.
Car price between early Jan and now. Cheaper by 4k (Hooray)
New trade in value of existing car as compared to quotation gotten in early Jan, drop by 4k (Oh F***)

Net effect = Negligible.

So if COE dont plunge, there is no way i can have any decent saving.

Of course there are other factors when it comes to car cost, but we're just focus on this aspect.

Patience is a virtue, but it is something which I have yet to master.

My ride is 7.5yrs old. For me, its either now or all the way till nearer to 10 yrs when coe runs out.

I reckon its very difficult to get any decent amount out of any current ride when it is 8-10 yrs old. Dealers will probably quote you very close to the parf rebate value (Just a thought, i could be wrong)

There never is a good time to sell an old car and buy a new ride... I sold off my 6 year old 2008 QQ to TCM at 50k, bought the new one at 135k with the COE at 68K in July/Aug 2014. Subsequently, the price of the COE skyrocketed with corresponding rise in QQ price.

Now with the bigger quota, the prices have come down but my old car price would have been 40+k only...
For those who want to know how solid red look like. Sorry load from phone duno why auto rotated.

Those that have just recently book your 1.2QQ, when are u expected to have your car reach sg shore?
Any review from bro that have collected their 1.2QQ?
Thanks.

Pls use their link for review. More or less there in their comparison. The car is sluggish from 0-20km, but will move smoothly from there.

Take note Dashboard and ECU for 1.2 seem to be new and latest, while 2.0 seem to be outdated and not sure if there will ever be an upgrade or update.

I personally think that the 1.2 Dashboard computer has more function and potential upgrades on their feature, as for 2.0, highly doubt as more troublesome for TC to do anything. (Currently a 2.0 Driver)

The way COE fluctuates, it affects both new car and resale car prices. Buy low sell low, buy high sell high, so like another bro mentioned, there isn't a best time to buy the car you want.

The longer you wait, the more your existing car value depreciates.

Yup, for those that have a car with few years to go.
If you have nothing to sell or a car going for scrap soon... Probably will have a difference.
Think is same like buying or selling hdb flat at the same time.. Though u could make a profit for your current flat :)

Last time, I always sell cars for my family (they change quite often) and they would usually profit. But now very difficult.. Just not to lose any is already a tall order.

I believe that, if one can afford, just do your sums properly, don't over commit or stretch your finances, then change to the car you want lor. Existing old ride will always depreciate, speculating for COE to drop is never ending one, by the time it has dropped significantly (if any), your car would have depreciated by an equal amount or more.. Minus the intangibles like driving a new car earlier, enjoying the features from the new car, facing issues with the old one while waiting etc.

Read this quite a few times. Wonder if there's any chip up available since its turbo?
Read this quite a few times. Wonder if there's any chip up available since its turbo?

You can overcome this problem by installing something like a sprint booster or throttle controller. E.g I use Pivot drive controller in my current VW Scirocco. It makes the car respond faster to your accelerator input but doesn't improve performance. You can feel the effect quite significantly one.
Even if you add a tuning box or chip up to stage 1 via the ECU remap, there will still be minor turbo lag or slow response when accelerating from stand still.

I don't think is a turbo issue, cause 2.0 faces similar issue. It is either the gear (Cvt) or the nature of the car that doesn't like to be push from stationery, afterall it is a heavy car.

Sprint Booster/Throttle controller, does it really work and have the feel? Cause heard about it but duno if really does the job. (Won't void warranty right? This is add on right?)

2.0, i feel 0-20km really abit slow, compared to my old civic.

Doesn't void warranty.

It has the feel, quite significant. Whenever I get my Scirocco back from servicing, they always unplug my Pivot 3 Drive sprintbooster so I feel it's not as quick. I always plug it back.

However, it doesn't make your car faster at all. But it makes it respond better during low speeds or accelerate from stand still. So this will be the first gadget I am installing after collecting my QQ later this week. Whether it harms or improve your FC, I am not sure. When my dad drives my car, I always set it to ECO or Normal mode for him so it is less quick and jerky.

I won't be considering tuning box or stage 1 ECU remap, not until my warranty is almost over, if I do drive the car for that long
It doesn't make a diff. It's similar to you pressing your pedal more. More for fun I think. Unless u are using eco mode, it allows you to do "light foot" pedalling easier to save fuel. But again can be done as well without the throttle controller.

As in eco mode in the throttle control, not the car eco mode, lol.

Think Eco mode is working same as how throttle control does, so your acceleration become less sensitive.

Hi bro,
Was also thinking of this sincemy current ride also sports a throttle control, but was however concer if this will increase the pressure in a turbo engine and create more stress in the parts?sorry am a noob when come to engine mechanics so am think out loud..lol!

Throttle controller changes the setting for your accelerator. Doesn't increase boost pressure. Not that I know of.

The amount of effort to step your accelerator is reduced with the usage of a sprint booster or throttle controller. This is the simplest I can think of to explain. That's why people say if you step harder, it's the same.

Not sure if it's the best price out there, my SE initially told me able to get me $119,800 as of 29th Jan but it may require several rounds of COE bidding, may not get COE at all and late collection of car in March or later.

My 1.2T was $122,800 :)

Launch price was $127,800, launch discount was $3000 so nett was $124,800 but was given $2000 further discount.

The brand is Dabonda. Model depends on front only or front and rear cameras. Dabonda legend if front only camera.

With the arrival of the 1.2 QQ I am surprised why buyers are willing to pay almost the same price for a PI Vezel. It is a no brainer. Maybe they are blind lovers of the Honda badge.

PI vezel is around 10k cheaper than QQ and both their OMV are almost the same. Not really same price. Just a matter of which you prefer and whether paying 10k more for an AD car is worth it.
Have you guys frequently able to activate e chassis control thingy. Today my first time manage to make it activate after 3 months of driving.

Er...it is activated by default unless you deactivated it before.

You can see it in action by switching the information display to Chassis Control. It will show you a car image and when Active braking is in effect, you will see the wheel lighted up. Similarly when Hill Assist is activated.
Sharp cornering, going over uneven road (hump) will definitely see it in action.

IMHO, this is what makes the driving so enjoyable with QQ.

Yes, i know it's activated by default. Just that i never see it in action for the past 3 months until i tot is the feature really working... Maybe my driving is too "careful"...lol... that it dont have chance to be in action. Only today i see it in action while doing a tight turn. Finally able to tell that the feature is working on mine... :)

Initially I switched to chassis control display to observe how the car behave and I am amazed how frequent it triggers the active braking. Now I get bored with the display and it is showing Audio mode permanently.

Welcome to the club, bro.
Dear QQ owners,
I just collected the car 2.0 last week. Enjoying the drive so far.
Observed that the average consumption is about 10.5l/100km. Quite far from the claimed 7l/100km. Issit because still new and have not run in? Does it get better over time?
Can bros who has driven the car for a longer time share their real life FC? Many thanks.

I've been using my QQ 2.0 since September, going for 10k servicing at TC BT this coming Saturday. I'm averaging about 8.2l/100km or 12.1 km/l. The FC depends a lot on type of road you're driving on, i.e. amount of Highway versus City Driving which will affect your FC. I'm driving about 70% Highway and 30% city driving (stop and go type of traffic)

Into my 8th month and the avg reads 10 l/100km. I don't quite bother about the average as morning/evening stop/start will upset the average. Also load in car will affect.

In SG, common reading is between 8-12 l/100km.
In Malaysia I can get 6.x l/100km with 80% highway.

I tried once in SG with aircon off, can get 5.8 l/100km.
Has any 1.2QQ owner drove to M'sia? How's the performance on the highway? how about up slope to Genting/ cameron?

He wrote 3 free servicing not 3 years. Only slphy have this promotion.
Read previous thread, think will roughly know the package.

i think QQ 1.2L selling well now so their NPMP package deal not extended to this model. Months later, if sales starts to slow down, who knows maybe they may throw in free 3-5 years servicing free like their sis co. Subaru? Hard to say Lo..
Btw just wondering does any Bros here ask for window visors as freebies? It shdnt be too expensive I reckon and SE should be able to throw this in easily? Just a thought
Don't think they have that accessories at the moment. That's why we mass order online for now.

Car collected today. Metallic black 1.2T Nissan Qashqai, black leather seats with red stitching.
Went to change tyres and rims to 19" (will update with photos soon, too busy with work), installed Pivot 3 Drive Throttle Controller too.

Still waiting for my chrome accessories to arrive from China (Aliexpress).

Best fuel economy achieved today was 13.5km/litre (the system asked me to update).

Really? My SE never even gave me this option of selecting stitch color, he just said black leather that's all, wondering do they all go to a same leather seat vendor? Or they each have their own?
can we get in touch? I also want to order a short antenna, lets see if any workshop can install?
Black leather seats with red stitching is very cool, matching with metallic black color but must keep clean ok? Black car is chio but at times hard to keep clean esp in sales job, always driving around...

indeed for the 1.2T, the leather seat is fitted locally, be default from UK comes with zero gravity inspired fabric seats, then TC locally strip it and fit with leather, that why you can choose red or grey stitching

Only concern is receptivity.

*EDIT* 2nd update:
*Have some soft creaking sound when going over humps, I noticed only when just drive off will experience this. After awhile, going over humps will not have the same sounds. Will check during first servicing.
*I replaced the original halogen headlight bulbs to white colour. Because it is using H11 bulbs, you will not be able to find pure white colour. The closest replacement is white with a very slight tint of blue. So while there might be some difference in whiteness when compared to the LED DRL, it's still better than stock halogen which is very yellowish.
*Ride quality not compromised with 19" rims and tyres 245/40/R19.
*Installed Pivot 3 drive throttle controller yesterday - More rev happy at low end, quicker response
*I still hate CVT.. like not sure whether to upshift or downshift

Cool bro, looking forward to see your ride pictures!!

share leh, where to get the Pivot 3 drive throttle and white halogen lightbulbs?

when I test drive the 1.2T, I realize the 0-60km is so-so only, if a bit more rev and responsive, it would be better, once the car gets to 70-90km/h, the ride is very nice

will the drive throttle solve this?

about the creaking sounds interesting, hope its not too bad

My lights were replaced at Leong Seng Tyres, since I was doing my rims and tyres there anyway.. Prices wise everywhere is around the same around $110 for a pair of H11 bulbs. If cheaper also not much I think.
Pivot 3 drive - Got it installed at Mcwell Ventures, both of these are at Ubi.

I haven't tested the car enough yet but I tried switching off the Throttle controller and I always end up turning it back on. The car feels more eager and rev happy.

Those who want to buy philips white halogen to change, can buy from powerbulbs.com. Philips diamond vision 5000k less than 60SGD with 1 year warranty (You have to pay for the shipping back to UK to claim warranty though, but better than SG I think no warranty at all). They very frequently have 20% discount code to apply just watch out for it on the website. Free T10 side light as well although QQ don't use it, lol. Can keep as souvenir or sell it.

For those not particular about brand, can buy those normal china made white halogen bulb for less than $20.

anyone know which workshop in SG can fix the QQroof bars similar to those in the 2.0L version?

the 2.0L comes with factory fitted roof bars, the 1.2L does not

I kinda think from a cosmetic perspective, having the bars does look more sporty

Are you referring to the Roof Rail (2.0) or the horizontal cross bar ?

If it is roof rail I don't think it is possible. If cross bar, two options. You need to check on the 1.2 roof whether there are mounting points for cross bar, some conti cars have these mounting points on roof.

Else the only choice is get the cross bar clamp on foot pads, which I don't suggest and it looks ugly. See pic attached on clamp on.

It's a matter of choosing the right foot pad for different mounting options.

If this is for cosmetic, do note that you will get wind noise with roof rack especially at higher speed.

New to the forum...but glad to see so many happy Qashqai owners.
