Saw the Nissan Qasqhai. Very basic model...though it is branded as a "luxury" model.

Selling at $138K approx depending on COE.

    No auto side mirror collapse.

    No Parking sensor w video

    No VDU unit

    No Park Assist

    No Lane changer cam.

Car is very light after driving a Harrier.

All this are standard features in UK and Australia but they skimp on all the goodies and only provide you with "leather" seats.

    Very disappointed.

Second car seen was Honda Vezel.

Not allowed to test drive. WTF?

Car is fuel efficient but has no power.

The model sold in Sg is the petrol version NOT the hybrid.

Third car seen was Toyota Harrier.

Notice 3 cars sold this last quarter alone. Sparks concern that the car may not be as good as its predecessor. Not sure.

Again not allowed to test drive. WTF, again.

Any other jap SUVs to recommend?

If this qashqai(farking spelling still wrong)is not X-trail, better wait X-trail,

Yes but sometimes its useful especially when u need higher ground clearance. Moreover people say in SUV more safe than in sedan.

And boot space suv also bigger and carrying ikea items would have no problem

Actually it is not really a SUV, more of crossover, in btw SUV and hatchback. The shape of qashqai is nice I must say. I think The one TC bring in is Made in uk, they may even bring in 1.2L 115bhp turbo engine later this year which is already being sold in uk. Cannot image how it can pull the heavy body of the car.

Xtrail is end of the year.

Somehow the reports from other countries like UK and Oz seem to indicate a better value for the qhasqai.

Has anyone test drive the car? Do you find it noisy? engine noise etc.

    With regards to Korean Cars.

I am actually eyeing the Sportage and Sorrento. Anyone with any experience driving these cars? I got a little turn off after reading that they fudge on the fuel consumption by overstating it.

For SUV that handles like sedan would be forester xt, while space not compromised.

Also tried the face lifted tucson. Very willing engine n transmission, not sure of fc though.

    Cx5 felt draggy. Crv 2 n 2.4 reasonable power n most spacious.

Most powerful fr 0-80kph has gotta b sorento 2.2 diesel. Literally leaves the rest in rear view mirror.

Last tried qashqai last yr, headrm n legrm at rear not that good, reasonable power like crv 2.0.

Most willing NA engine = tucson. Tc no need say liao.

it'sTC motorSUV specified not distinct, actually Juke/Qashqai connot be classifedas SUV, at most only is wagon with higher chassis,

I m not used to CVT, when accelerate hard at first few gears cannot feel the "power" for this car. Other than that the the ride is smooth, cornering also ok. The ride could be more comfortable (when go over the humps ) if the 19" rims changed to 17" or 18".

I told the SE 19" tyre cost ver high. He said these are locally fix by Stamford tyre, should be able to change to 18".

The tyre is 225/45/19 (if I not wrong), if change to 17" or 18" light weight rims and thicker types then will be more comfy n faster pick up.

haha after all, Stamford tyres still their relative company therefore gonna take stock from them lor :D

as for me, I will remind the 19' tyres

I told the SE 19" tyre cost ver high. He said these are locally fix by Stamford tyre, should be able to change to 18".

The tyre is 225/45/19 (if I not wrong), if change to 17" or 18" light weight rims and thicker types then will be more comfy n faster pick up.

well after all still a 2l car. if xtrail release. but I guess shld be less then $140K. But even slightly abit more than that, still can bargain for freebies from tan chong, like free servicing till50-60k(depend how u ask for it)

oops....if qashqai , a 7 seater will be 150k? like that no chance for me liao......looks like it is back to Wish again 133k.....sigh

I was looking at it from my rear view mirror and admiring it's front view.

I did went to see the Murano 2weeks back however i found it very lacklustre. Nissan cars doors felt very light and don't have the conti "tut" sound. Very dated interior..Just my opinion..

previously Nissan remove xtrail cos they wanna focus on qashqai. but after qashqai come out with a +2 vesion, it makes abit of confusion.

thisyear end like that, they decide to bring in xtrail to replace to qashqai+2.

this cvt is diff from teana n sylphy, it does come with manual mode with 6 speed.

Test drove new qash today. Built in Uk according to SE.

Drive - 1st gear move off felt slow but once moving is spirited if u floor pedal. Steering felt weighted n stable. Despite 19" rim, didn't felt as bumpy but don't over pump tyre pressure. Cornering should feel stable due to chassis control function. Seats quite firm but ok comfy.

Media / Sound system - better than last version, vocal n music detail clear n bass thumps though w bit of hollowness, no mid adjustment only treble n bass. No GPS, DVD, touchscreen n rev cam but have Bluetooth n steering ctl.

Built - soft touch dash w gear lever area orange ambient lighting, factory fitted leather seats, driver elect seat, pano moon roof, led n hid, rim design, color choice r to my liking. Didn't like long antenna; 6" or sharkfin type b nice if avail.

Similar priced competitor = tucson n forester. Both have better sound quality, forester room size, pickup n handling best. Qash best exterior n interior looks n finishing. Tucson led light brightest.

yes, no diff from previous. hard to press & hard, unlike murano's.

overall, i c some cost-cutting here n there like those i've mentioned, yet still call premium.

one more thing, noted in the engine bay, rubber hoses line with another layer of cross-woven material, wc should further prevent them from hardening / leaking.

TC seem to be bringing in pretty stripped down cars to keep OMV super low and then retrofitting features locally...

Old Qashqai was also designed in UK and plenty of parts were sourced from European suppliers eg. the headlamps were Hella instead of Koito, shock absorbers by Sach instead of Tokico etc, I had an unfortunate fender bender with a van which broke a headlamp and it cost almost S$700 for one headlamp housing! My rear dampers started making clanking noises when going over humps but fortunately it was replaced under warranty...can't imagine how much that would cost...

    good comment and thank you.

I hv been speaking to taxi drivers driving Huyndais and Kias and they feel good. They say taxis are a different problem because it is driven for a long time.

I was in Suntec and they had a promo for Hyudai Sante Fe. That is the car I'm eyeing aside from Qashqai and HR-V.

Any thots on those cars since you like hybrids....the hydrid vezel looks good and suits my needs. Some questions:

    1) Is it easier to get a short circuit if the car travels through a flooded road at knee high water level?

    2) How is the pick up with hybirds? Are the fast off the block?
