Reviews from overseas may not reflect our local road conditions. Here is a positive review from SG driver.

    http://www.sgcarmart...77#comments2677

Dueler sport is the better one. Good reviews even in tirerack.com. I think selling at 270 per piece for our size.

The stock tyre is dueler hl400, totally different class.

I also aiming the dueler sport for next tyre change. Our tyre size quite limited.

    225/55R18 very rare.
The next closest size is 245/50R18 which is 0.4%+ difference.

I will be listing some of the tyres we can consider for XT stock 18" rim.

    Dear all

I am very keen on the Forester and also WRX. For those who upgraded the head unit to the pioneer model with gps, did you lose any of the steering wheel controls?

Also who collecting car on the 19 aug?

I'm surprised that this group is so active now. A far cry from 6 months ago when I was considering getting the Forester which I did in the end.

I'm in the whatsapp group that u guys are talking about which currently has a mixed of XV, FXT and Forester Premium owners. If u guys are keen to be in the group PM me your number and I'll get the admin to include u in. Glad to see so much interest in Forester now.

Yea, can't find much choices for 225/55r18. Dunno if it make sense to change when I get the vehicle. Getting more popular tyre size may be the way to go. 235/55 r18 or like you suggested 245/50 r18. FC will take another hit! Haha

Reading good things about the michelin premier a/s. But seems like locally no one carrying it.

Rim size is 18x7. 245 is out. Too wide. 235 is ok, but not ideal on 7in rims, better on 7.5in. Thus if you go for a more common sized tires, then likely the rim will have to go too.

Bros, so far my experience with the FXT stock tires is less than OK only in terms of overall performance. But then I have only driven 1500km and at at top speed of less than 120km/h so can't share much currently. Today me and my biz partner driving up to KL in my FXT so should be able to give a more extensive review this weekend on the tyre performance.

At least to the parts linked to the wheel.

    Have a safe trip bro.

At 1500km, not only car just run-in, tyres also just run-in. Best is to drive safely and Don t push car or tyre to limit yet.

Darn! Thks for mentioning the rim size, totally overlooked it. Looks like choices are even more limited unless change rims.

    2.0XT $128,800

And not yet given discount too. Almost same price as the Vezel liao.

Hi, have not upgraded but have asked around a few installers. Most of them said the audio control buttons will still work but not the phone control buttons.

    Hi all,

I am new to this thread. Car COE expires very soon, so really looking at options. Have narrowed down between QQ, Forester or MZ 3/6, after testing all the cars at the showrooms.

I love the Forester's engine, handling, acceleration and Sunroof. Not so good is the interior and fuel consumption. If you go to the Ubi showroom, the cup holders on the backseat are already falling off from the upholstery! I wonder how lasting the interiors are.

Some of the goodies that people have negotiated for similar cars include rear/front cameras, rike cool, front sensors, ceramic /rust coating,3M floor mats, 1 year free insurance, petrol vouchers, and no tie-in of minimum loan period, etc.

Unfortunately the SE at Ubi doesnt seem to be able to give a good package. He just said can give front cam and floor mat zzz, not even overtrade, although I queried him on the low OMV and the margins Motorimage can play around with between car value and eventual sale price.

Appreciate if you can PM me or post here your SE contact and the package they can give? Cheers.

want to check with bros here on the following (mostly from the SGCM promo today)

    - what's your fuel consumption ? On SGCM it says 11.8km/L and I wonder how different is the real world FC

    - can the power sunroof tilt instead of just open the glass roof?

    - what is the feature "PIN code access" about? is this referring to security lock the HU?

    - what's included in the XT's Black Edition ($5K)

Subaru showroom at Leng Kee was quite empty too compared to Mazda showroom next door, like a fish market :)

Good article to read on Subaru... perhaps it explains the reason why subaru showroom is so empty :)

    http://www.japantime...r/#.Vc9iM4vrDA4

The success is leading Fuji Heavy President Yasuyuki Yoshinaga to worry whether Subaru, the niche maker of all-wheel-drive vehicles, is getting too big.

Were standing at a major turning point for Subaru, Yoshinaga said in an interview in Tokyo this week. It shouldnt just be about volume. We should be making cars only Subaru can make, which are a little more expensive and profitable than the competition.

Some people in the company may want to make mass-market products or cheaper cars, but is this really the right direction for Subaru? Yoshinaga asked. Were not a carmaker that can grow as big as Toyota. And even if we could, reaching that sort of scale would mean wed stop being Subaru.

Subaru is a niche product, Nakanishi said. They have a strong partner in Toyota, which is complementing Subarus product development so that they can focus their strategy on being a niche player.

First day showroom condition, second day Machiam I when Abit of off-road.

    20150816_105618.jpg

Was on my way along ford rd when I'm behind a sand truck. A few huge chunks of mud drop from it's back and I swerve to try avoid it, but road was too narrow so I end up going over some of it.

My observation is the car tend to oversteer rather than understeer. Maybe it's the ride height and the suspension setup or the AWD. Still getting used to it since its different behaviour from a FWD.

Overall felt in control. This SUV can really corner and will make unaware cars who think you are just a slowpoke SUV suddenly treating you with respect.

If do nothing, is there a risk as the car legal name still under my name. I sold it via sgcarmart to external dealer not trade in to IM.

Have you hand over the car? If you did you make sure dealer give you the invoice statement stating the date and time you hand over the car. Make sure time is there too.

This applies for MI in case the SE forget.

Second is to check LTA online to see if car still under you. But sometimes dealer take 2 to 3 days to process but make sure ultimately the car is not under you.

Thirdly get AS to give you IU number before can so you can make the necessary arrangements in parking like your season parking, office parking and shopping mall parking redemption.

Finally, call your insurance company to inform them you change car and cancel insurance.

Looking sharp. Any impending mods coming? psst psst? [laugh][laugh]

I think I'll drive for awhile first to feel and understand the car better before I dive into mods. But probably touching more of rigidity and stability than power. The cusco and sti parts comes to mind, mid to long term plan.

Most probably doing the following first:
    - redo solar film
    - cosmetic mods like wrapping the grille, spoiler and side mirrors to give it a "black edition" look.
    - some small custom stickers to personalize my ride.
    - plastidip the rims, but the stock rims color is slowly growing in me.

First day showroom condition, second day Machiam I when Abit of off-road.

With this coming from a RALLIART Turbo owner, I am going to consider this high praise.

Impressive, yet as expected of Subaru!

Still in honeymoon period so is all praises at the moment.
But the car do have it's drawbacks after driving it more that just a testdrive.

Without touching on the driving, the immediate things I frowl upon is:
    - No Auto central locking. You have to central lock the car yourself.
    - No Auto unlock when You open your door, you have to press "unlock" first then open the door
    - No Auto mirror folding, you have to press the button to fold manually.
    - No Auto window up/down for passenger windows. you have to press and hold the button to wind up and down their windows.

Yes, these are the selling point for Mit Colt many years back. Totally pampered by these feature. Too bad subaru haven't caught up with them on some of this yet.

On hindsight, these are the stuff that surprises me:
    - Audio speakers are better than I thought, just need to adjust the equalizer abit for more high-note. Bass is pretty good, I actually tune down abit.
    - Phone controls are pretty easy to sync. There are voice controls too
    - The sunroof cover will close with the sunroof so it's not fully manual
    - As mentioned, puddle lamps
    - Head rest can be full adjusted forward/backwards instead if just up/down.

Japanese cars usually only one-press automatic for driver's window only. Contis usually have all four windows... Sounds very unimportant (can just hold for ten seconds mah....) but then you do notice how useful it is when you are trying to wind down a window while driving because of whatever reason.

With the recent spate of car theft in M'sia for cars with keyless entry (apparently), I'm wondering if we lock the car with the key remote, does the car still emit radio waves to sense the presence of the key nearby? Or worst case, use the mechanical key.

Mr Bean method is the best though it looks stupiak. But, in light of modern ease of hijacking your car through radio waves, he ain't stupiak.

It really works! Washing is so much easier as the water beads away very fast. Shine is still looking great after many many washes.

Of course, you still need to take care of the car.. like wash regularly etc.

Whether it last for 3years, not really sure.. but i think probably 1year once, i will do it..

same as signing those wax packages which cost above $1k

but some people say.. might as well go respray after 3years hahaha

Car always have problem here and there. I do not mind to have small problem which can be fixed easily with small amount of money. I remember when I drove my lancer, it gave some issues after 5-6 years of driving such as fuel door latch problem, aircon compressor etc..other than that, no other major issue. I have a friend clocked more than 300KM on this car and the engine is still going strong. So not sure based on what criteria the survey have been conducted.

take the J.D.Powers survey with a pinch of salt. since they were took over 10 years ago by the S&P's parent company, they are now aflliated with a number of insurance companies and manufacturers, it is no longer running on a non-profit business model. You may still use the report as a gauge, not saying it is false, but do note that what they publish now tends to be ignored by wall street.

if you want un-biased view, another source is ASCI. Do a search and you will find out why so many subarus running in states.

The JDPower problems reported include perceived quality problems, e.g. cheap feeling plastic or suspension squeaks can be reported as problems.

i.e. JDPower surveys do not strictly talk about reliability problems.

However it's still inclusive of them so it's worth taking note of. But in general I think most of us agree that very little can stop a Toyota/Subaru/Honda from moving off.

Not really necessary... and then there are the horror stories about the port workers redlining your car when it comes off the ship

Most contis are apparently run in before delivery, but for most cases all manuals recommend driving below 4,000RPM and at varied speeds for the first 1,000km. This is the run-in...

I think it's less about engine underperformance or anything and more about allowing all the ECU and transmission logics etc. some time to fully adapt to individual variances...

But honestly, I don't know also [dizzy]

I think, for Japanese car especially, just follow the guidelines given by the user manual. As stated, no redlining and stay varied during the first 1,000km.

Think I better behave....But it's very hard to control the temptation sometimes.

Actually I read a lot in forums about hard breaking-in. It's been ongoing for years. However it's controversial and not fully agreed by all mechanics, esp car makers.

Anywau, Caveat guys. I'd still break in traditionally. In SG roads you can't drive hard too much anyway, unless you go NSHW to run for 1k and drive back to workshop for an oil change.

For breaking in, Subaru recommends moderate driving, getting the revs between 1k to 4k. No hard braking, no sudden acceleration. For at least 1mile. 1600km

Not all parts, wear and tear like brake pads not included. Oil change engine oil included. Parts covered under warranty will cover if failure not due to owner's fault.

I was there too to pay the balance. The SE has mentioned that too. On top of that, price went up 2k also.

With the rising COE, unlikely to come back anytime soon.

Let say if we tuned the ECU of the FXT to 300bhp during warranty period without changing any hardware, will MI detect it during normal servicing.?
