Not totally true actually. Dusty pads are softer and dissipate heat better through the dust thus offering better performance and minimise premature wear/warp on disc.Dusty simply means cheap.
No way TC can justify using better quality brakes voiding warranty!
Anyone has recommendation for our 1.2qq types?
Collected my QQ this morning and enjoyed the smooth drive throughout. The only problem I encountered is the DVD player in the HU. I slot in a music CD and it got jammed inside. The HU could not detect the CD and also it could not eject. Anyone has such problem with this HU? Appreciate some help & advice. Thank you very much.

Ok. Will do that first thing on Monday. This QQ is equipped with so many features that I forgot at least 30% of what my SE has briefed me. Hahaha....too much for a retiree like me. Thanks Bezz for the reply.
I used to start moving the car very slowly...allow it time to move before revving higher. Fc sucks haha. Probably due to the weight.
Now I start to rev up earlier (to 3kish) then release pedal to maintain speed. Fc improved tremendously.
Pardon the noob driver. Still adjusting to the big chassis.
Hi all,
I agree totally with the method abv. As Long as your engine has warmed up, drive/pedal like a manual car i.e. Step on pedal and rev up to about 2.5k rpm, let go (delay abt 1sec) and rev gently to 2.5k rpm again like changing gear. Repeat the process....
Sometimes when cruising, you can let go of the pedal (say 1sec) and revert back. Your rev can drop thus saving more fuel can pro longing the life of your engine.
Remember that our cvt emulates a step gear box.
Good pointer. I had been to autobacs bukit batok and there they do not have size if I remembered correctly.
Dusty simply means cheap.
No way TC can justify using better quality brakes voiding warranty![/quote]No ah bro.. Conti cars stock brake pads all also very dusty and u will notice their brake/brake pad are better.. So u means they use cheap pads if a lot of dust? If u lazy to clean the rims can just get a matt or gunmetal rims with low dust brake pads and they are quite cheap..
Guess we're suckers for black rims! But mine still 17" haha.

Goes very well with the body right. Silver rims are very classy but darker ones give it more attitude.
Waiting for my bbks to arrive. Can't wait!

Except for the brake dust, I actually kind of like the performance of the braking system,so far.Not totally true actually. Dusty pads are softer and dissipate heat better through the dust thus offering better performance and minimise premature wear/warp on disc.
Nice !!!I went crazy and up 20inch rim
Then up 6ports
Fc your might ask?!..
I still pump exactly once a week since day 1! 98Ron!
People said under power?
Well try this!
And this..
Afraid engine status.. Well try this!
You can to see boost, water temp and even read error code..
Still alot of others.. But honestly..
I am a happy qashqai owner that push this baby 1.2 over near like 2.0 when set to
"Tune Mode" with "SP 9" throttle
But to get near to 2.0l, ethrottle cmi since no increase in torque and bhp power ...you need racechip ultimate to achieve this which many bros are already with especially with nice 20" rims.
Other room for improvement on performance are 6 pots front and 4 pots rear, lowered 30mm eibach springs, headunits with torque/dashcommander apps etc. that some bros are also already with.
You may want to contact mh23 or dopeyone to join the whatsapp group and know what else can be impeoved upon.
Cheers

As for the 95ron test with eco mode on, somehow the consumption is worst than normal mode. Personally I feel that normal mode is better. More power n better consumption. Maybe is my CO driving style. She complain no power, even during normal mode hahaha
Maybe my next project is to install RS chip.

Trip meter only shows estimated distance to go since it cannot know how you will be driving for remaining fuel. It uses FC from the last trip and previous trips for such estimation.Guys observe something strange. Wonder whether is it normal or not
For the past 2 fuEl topup, my tank display show 420km left after topup and just now show 520km after topup.
Used to show at least 620km and above after topup. But last 2 topup show strange figures
Anyone have this issue before?
And my fuel needle was at half tank when I pumped just now. Basing on 55l tank size, I should be topping up just around 27.5l +/-
But the receipt show otherwise, 32.7l fuel topup. And total distance travelled 298km
Needle at half tank is also only estimate.
My advice is to ignore both unless you receive fuel low warning which is still fine driving in Singapore with many petrol stations around.
To calculate FC, please clocked km travel from full tank till llw fuel warning and divide by 50 since reserve would be about 5 litre when you get the low fuel warning.
There are already many msgs posted on FC to expect and this depends on city/hway driving ratio and how heavy footed you are.
Cheers.

It's about $7 in total. Antenna cost RMB23 roughly $5, shipped by economy air at $1.69 per 500gLooks cool!
What's the total price u paid including delivery to SG?
Easy to install?
Very easy to install. Just screw out the existing antenna and screw the new antenna in. There are 3 pcs of screw, choose the shortest piece.

Last 2 days very peaceful - due to spoilers busy at Car Expo?

Huh... If 3 mins 1 car, that work out to 20 an hour and 200 units for 10hours.. 2 days only sell 400-500 is a huge flop bro... Hehehhe... , so, few minutes announce 1 car is really not that great actually unless you are referring to per brand... Go and change a perfect no defect car and enjoy ur ride.. and, if there is still problem when u change car, then u know why..

Yes, this one I agree.
To tell, to inform, but not to curse..
I don't think QashqiGrey meant any ill-intention with his post on the problems with his QQ. He might just be frustrated with the issues which was still unsolved by TC.
When I mentioned balanced discussion, the reader also plays a part. If one reads with an open mind, with the additional benefit given to new owners regarding the info shared, then that post might not be as 'offensive' as it sounded. If one read it with the mindset of "don't want to hear any criticisms on the car I paid so much for to the dealer and government", then even constructive comments will be skewed towards hostility.
The phrasing by the contributor might not be perfect, fueled by his/her disappointment with TC. But those issues which he brought up were his own real life experience and also faced by some other QQ owners. A new owner who doesn't prowl the forums frequently might not be aware that such issues exists with his/her new awesome car. So that info might help when in the case he suddenly experience power/braking issues, he will immediately recall the sharing here, instead of scratching his head and cursing the car at the junction.
Just my thoughts...don't get angry everyone. It's a Monday, I take it that I have 5 awesome days to drive my car before the weekends (which will be even more outrageously awesome)!

Yup, I had my share of issues with qashqai. But I shared here too that Tc was quick to attend to my issues once they realized the seriousness of the issues. The GM attended to me and coordinated the Japanese engineer to investigate.I believe interactions in any forum discussion should be carried out by both parties, contributor and reader, in a balanced way.

Agreed, must listen to both good and bad. So if some Bros here suddenly got some faults or issues, they know that these had been shared here and can confidently tell Tc that they are not alone with these issues.I enjoy this thread, its positive and negative feedback. Before I booked my XT, I read both good and bad and inclined to read more on bad as SEs would tell you all the good. I think knowing also the bad would help to make wiser decision and look out for it in case it happened. Learning the good would help to improve the ride and make it more enjoyable. Hope to read all good and bad with an open mind but most importantly don't make uncalled for remarks. Cheers!

I had my issues only MONTHS into ownership. When faults appeared one by one, I dealt with them one by one. Tc also diam diam when you can confidently say that such issues happened to other owners too, not you alone.

Hope those owners still having unresolved issues with their rides get it sorted out by TC soon. Comfort can be compromised, safety can't.

This is the only thread in this forum I think whereby the existing owners are overly defensive when people have something factual but negative to say about the car. Other model threads also have their issues, albeit lesser, but I don't recall such defensive behaviour. Every time I visit this thread, I see some kind of squabble between grown men.. lol.

Have a great week ahead everyone
I am glad some qashqai owners like you are coming forward to share problems with their cars, otherwise a newbie to QQ would be buying the car without knowing. There are of course many in this thread that can't have the slightest negative thing being said about their car and I really sympathise with this group of people. Thanks haronkr, i am an owner and like wat richard has gloated, i do experience all the problems. Thanks for sharing and being honest1 month ago, my brake seems to have failed while I was going down the slope into waterway point. The alert came out while I was going downslope and it was jam while entering the carpark. It was after a car wash and the brakes feel rougher than usual. Noticed this after every car wash. I always use a cloth to clean the brake calipers, not sure did i spoil anything. After shopping, i switched on my car and it never happened again. Gonna report this to TC at my next servicing.
A lot of unwanted 'sound' are either self created or by those subcontractors. I encountered mine once. Not always the QQ fault. Need to own self check own self. LolWent for my first servicing. Informed the SA that i have rattling sounds coming out of my left dashboard. Also a tock sound when i turn right aft gg up slope.
Took a testdrive. Heard the sounds. Had to leave the car there for the afternn.
Came back once car was ready. Saw the report that they insulated the glove box. Tightened the top mounting and side slip by 1mm.
Drove home...heard the rattling and checked the compartment. Realised it came from the isofix caps that my wife put inside. Oops. The tock sound also seems to have gone away.
I enjoy this thread, its positive and negative feedback. Before I booked my XT, I read both good and bad and inclined to read more on bad as SEs would tell you all the good.
Sometimes, I went to the car of the right color and then realize it's the wrong car.
Good idea cash...QashiGrey, have you sought legal advice and seek legal solution?
some people might misunderstand what is cannot take critics/defensive, and what is re-phrase your sentence to take care of people feeling.

I'm the QQ driver myself, of course I know no car is perfect, and being lucky so far not to have those major problem. I'm not trying to say QQ is the best and no negative feedback is allowed. No, that is not my point!

Just when the new owner of QQ happily announce they collected the key, or just book the car, WHY (yes, I really don understand why) the current owner, or maybe others who being KPhas to pour cold water immediately on them? it is like telling them "don be too happy, soon u will suffer" how will they feel? of course they might face the same problem as some of the owner here, but is it 100%? then I think we should at least re-phrase our words in a better way, to alert them to take note, but not macam to curse!

Let me give another example:
Your friend just get married, and happily inform you..
You: Married ah? Two years later you see how fat she will be (Like tat you think your friend will be happy? It is macam a curse...)
Of course you can re-phrase your sentence
You: Married ah? Take good care of your wife oh, don let her overeat and become fat.. isn't it sound nicer?
**Disclaimer: Above is only example, no other meaning

You can sound out your business friends or family members for lawyer recommendations since this is matter of personal preference.

As mentioned earlier in this forum, there are 3 lawyers listed in the 'lemon law' article below. Of course you have to check out on the legal process and the expected cost involved. Your case seems to have strong merit, hence no harm finding out.

Based on normal turning, I would have made it; but when the powerloss kicks in, the car crawls - imagine if an oncoming car is approaching (would have made the turn if no powerloss is experienced). Also, sudden accletation when u panic and just floor the acclerator. Car may shoot and lose control.Would you agree that power loss and ebrake failure for a new car are serious issues since you mentioned? I have driven for so many years and have never encountered power loss for a new car from other makes.
Agree, driven so many cars never had this experience. It's very scary.
Thanks a lot cash!!!!Qashigrey,
You can sound out your business friends or family members for lawyer recommendations since this is matter of personal preference.
As mentioned earlier in this forum, there are 3 lawyers listed in the 'lemon law' article below. Of course you have to check out on the legal process and the expected cost involved. Your case seems to have strong merit, hence no harm finding out.
There is a saying that it is better to complain and doing something about it; then to do nothing.

Life is a curve ball, and you never dream when the shit will hit the fan when karma catches up !!!!

Experiencing power loss during overtaking or when doing a lane change is extremely dangerous. Bring this up to TC until they rectify the matter. Bro u on racechip ultimate?Race chip ulitmate ........
If one ofQashiGrey's agenda is to seek compensation - in whole or in part -it is obvious hecannot answer you ayes that it hasbeen resolved (because all these forum materialsform apart of his plaintiff's evidence.)
Why?
Because if he says yes, it is case closed (whatis there to talk about , problem no longer exist). So game over. Go to court ,spend moneyon a lawyer also lose case....money down the drain.
Defendant 1, Plaintiff 0

If his answer is a no thatit isnot resolved, he will be seriously challenged (and severely grilled) to prove it.He will bequestioned that if he is so worried and hysterical overthefault whichcancause him serious harm(and rightly so),why is hepersisting to drivethe car? Isn't he afraid, worried, hysterical even irresponsiblethat his luck may run out anytime (if the fault isstill there and unresolved) and put othersand not just himselfimminently in danger at any time?
Defendant 2, Plaintiff 0

If he choose to remain silent, there is no case to prove. No conclusive evidence.
So Defendant 3, Plaintiff 0

Unless there is a lot ofnew QQ owners showing up here with their new QQ and having similar problemswhich did not go away after resolutions, then he may have a chance.

Why doesQashiGrey continue to sound out here, what ishis motive? Wellpart of itwas good Samaritan, as leastit was in the beginning. But I suspecthe is trying (hoping)to build up a case against TC for his agenda. And vent. Or he benefits in some other way (a PI whoowns a QQperhaps).

Apologies for above if it offends but those are my thoughts. And speculation.
If you really wanta lawyer , I do haveone famous friend but it will cost and I thinkthis caseis alreadydead on arrival (my friend however will be veryhappy to take your money).

Haha ... just this time since had seen your past messages and frankly have no wish to address you via your nick.

It had been shared here that this power loss aka ebrake not disengaging (rpm is moving) are 100% reproducible and relates to the SS being activated when you switches off the engine for those being affected. The next start up of the engine and drive will see then this power loss until the next shut down of engine without the SS being activated.

Power loss aka ebrake failure is indeed serious issue in my opinion which I was fortunately not affected and not sure if resolved with the reported SW upgrade by TC since Mar 2016. Perhaps because I am not affected because I had automated SS disabled module fitted early but who knows ... since others 85% of those 100+ owners I know do not have SS disable module (10% have) but yet not affected like the unfortunate 1-2% of them being affected periodically and 3-4% being affected once or twice in 1 to 12 months of ownership.

I advocate the disable of SS for many reasons and yes, I am biased on this but since when you had drive many years with SS which is new technology ??

Please also read below on various makes with similar if not same SS issues and you can read more on actual recalls for different reasons for different make but enough said and time spent.

"The affected vehicles may experience a complete loss of brake vacuum assist, disabling the hydraulic boost assist," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. Juke bhp is same as Qashqai.
In terms of weight, Qashqai weighs 70kg more, but engine can be tuned to produce a little more horses, within 130 bhp to remain in Cat A COE Turf.

The brake/brake booster issue has been haunting Nissan drivers for a long time. In 2011, 440000 Nissan Altimas had been recalled over faulty brakes ( http://www.autoevolu...akes-35928.html ). More recently in 2014, more than 200000 Nissan cars have also been probed on brake issues ( https://consumerist....issan-vehicles/ ). And today, Nissan drivers are still experiencing the same kind of issues with the brake/brake booster and QQ is not spared based on reviews of QQ drivers in this thread and sgcarmart. I think this is a manufacturing issue that all Nissan drivers have to watch carefully over the course of the next 1-3 years of collecting their new cars.
Edited by LPPL, 26 April 2016 - 11:53 PM.
All of the Qashqai 1.2 issues could be resolved if Nissan simply added the Juke 1.6l engine into the Qashqai, and discontinue selling the Juke which has dismay sales anyway.

Comments spot on.

Unfortunately, this 2G QQ vehicle was developed in the Nissan-Renault European R&D center to be manufactured in the Sunderland plant primarily for the mass European market. The choice of the engine variants were believed to be decided by the European leadership leaning towards the Renault diesel and petrol turbo-enhanced engines. It appears that Nissan Japan has lesser influence on engine choice unless the manufacture is done Thailand.

Aside the 2.0L, TC imports the petrol 1.2T QQ sold largely in the UK which also meets Sg Cat A requirement of 130 bhp cap. I am sure if the QQ is to be produced in Thailand, you will likely have the HR16DE engine used in the Juke/Sylphy cars.

Why not? If Qashqai is manufactured in Thailand, fitted with Juke and Sylphy HR16DE engines, and the manufacturing cost savings passed to buyers.
Qashqai 1.6 would sell like hot cakes if priced below $100K at current COE Prices.

The economics of the car business is based on production scale and the present reality is that all the 2G QQs are produced at the dedicated UK Sunderland plant (believed to be undergoing further capacity expansion).

Of course it would be good news for car consumers if Nissan decides to shift the production of QQ to Thailand. So until it happens, we have to accept the present status quo.
I think part of the reason why people choose QQ1.2 because it is produce in UK and the conti feel. However, I will not know if they shift the production plant to Thailand similarly to Honda and Toyota... People might go for more popular brand than Nissan..The economics of the car business is based on production scale and the present reality is that all the 2G QQs are produced at the dedicated UK Sunderland plant (believed to be undergoing further capacity expansion).

Agree on this point. Reason why I chose the QQ is because it felt 'closest' to the VW that I'm driving now, so the change-over in feel wouldn't be too drastic.

But again, everyone have different points of considerations when choosing their rides. The QQ just made the most sense for me.

I doubt the 1.6NA engine got enuf torque for the QQ on slope... the car is not light weight. I doubt you will save a lot of manufacturing cost if produce in Thailand... I think in UK they get a hefty tax incentive plus access to EU market.

Just look at the Sylphy price, its 100k, what cost savings will pass to consumers? Car only got 2 airbags... More like they will fatten their margins then to pass it to consumer. Look at the HRV... super rip off.
