Overhaul means it has been serviced and worn parts replaced.

    Yes, its definitely safe.

    Especially vintage watch.

How you all find this? Can buy?

    Looks like a 1675.
I think lu ann vintage also has one.
A good one withbox and papers would be priced about $7500.

Shops always add at least a 10% premium.

    thanks for advice.

what is exactly the definition of "vintage" when it comes to watches btw? the very old year in which it was manufactured? or the rarity of model?

There has always been a bit of debate over what constitutes vintage but i think anything beyond 35 yrs can be called vintage.

Wrong, i did not change watches for the task. I change watches as per my habit of wearing different watches during the day.

In the morning i went out wearing the gold gmt and i swept the garden before going out.

In the afternoon i came home and swop to the Daydate. Then i brought in the clothes and took a nap.
Now i hv woken up, i am wearing my Sub on tropic rubber.....

All these pics showing me wearing my watches doing the tasks are not acted out.
I was indeed wearing the watches to do those tasks.

but isn't it like this for every model that luxury watch maker rolls out over the years? for e.g from Explorer I to Explorer II and the previous Submariner to the current one. rolleyes.gif

    Not really true.

Its one thing to upgrade materials and functions, its another to simply change colors.

Explorer one was just a tool watch, no fuss, simply strong and classic, tells time, fullstop.
Explorer2 had a 24hr hand so you know when was day and night.
The gmt hand than became independant for dualtime zone.
The looks didnt change , even the new one looks like the previous.

Likewise for submariner, looks the same but stronger tougher better materials.

Gmt master was also the same with basically 3 bezel color choices.

Adding more and more colors and design is just to keep up with trends.
Rolex must be careful to stay true to its roots.
Thats what took them so far.

Also same formula for many top class brands.
Staying with the identity. Doing what you do best.
    Keeping it simple and effective.

    my opinion lah....

    oh got upgrade materials le...

I read that this new 2013 GMT Master II "has a patented blue and black cerachrom bezel and it is based on a mono-block cerachrom bezel by a patented process that actually has the bezel start off as completely blue, and while still pourous, add the black coloring. So, it is not two pieces of ceramic next to each other but a singular piece, and Rolex is the only brand in the world to produce something like this. It's so difficult to do that it's actually patented. And the bezel goodness doesn't end there. The numerals in this two-tone, mono-block bezel are actually a thin layer of platinum, while the bezel itself is diamond-polished."

but a tad too expensive for me at around S$11,600 currently.... bigcry.gif

    I overpaid by $1. [laugh] $19.00

Things aren't cheap there anymore except some slow moving items like fountain pens, ink.... Orient and Orient Star watches are also selling about same prices as Big Time (after the usual 20-30% discount).

But, better than buying those knock-off watches on the streets. Bought one Baby-G for my son in KL, took only one day for the watch strap to give way. This one still quite lasting, think already 2 months liao.

    Huh mustafa sell for $19?
I thought they would be cheapest in town.
I was right to stop going to mustafa since >5yrs ago......

Yes, original casio definitely better than an identical knockoff.
    The quality control still there.
That said , such watches simply dont last longer than 18mths.... Haha

    Thanks.
Indeed i hve mentioned that in terms of looks, i prefer the rose gose skydweller on brown croc to the yg bracelet version
However, as a standalone, i generally do not like the skydweller as it is too complicated to be a Rolex.

    I still prefer them simple.

Haha I do prefer it to be slightly complicated. Find designs like date just and day date too simple.

By the way, is Rolex the only watch brand you would ever consider buying? Cos I see your watches so far consist of nothing but only Rolex. There is no other brand you would buy?

I had a lot of Vintage Seikos too, more than 10 at one stage.
I also have an Omega speedmaster bot brand new in 1996?
    Rolex suitable for me lah...

I will never wear my watch when doing a workout at the gym. Cos there is always a high risk that may knock into something when doing fast intense workouts.

You shouldnt wear watch to play basketball, may cut someone or yourself.
No good to wear any jewellery when playing contact sports.

Tennis , golf, badminton, etc ok.... Soccer, basketball, rugby etc , not ok.

Was playing golf t other day, wearing my Rolex...one of my flight mates told me tt it's not good to wear high end watches whilst playing sports because of t sudden jerking movement tt sportspeople make. Is tt true?
Then I noticed tt professional sportspeople, tiger woods, nadal, federrer, etc don't wear them. They only wear whilst taking their trophies or when not playing (cos of sponsorship? Or not good for t watch? Or cumbersome whilst playing?)
Now I put my watch in my pocket or pouch which is w me whilst golfing. Don't put in t locker...always put it with u.

I dont think the movement is so weak but rather the joint between the bracelet and the head.
Nadal had a special RM for him to wear during his games.
