i actually feel plastic chrome is not class matching but this car colored number plate holder seemed just as good if same plastic material as our normal black number plate holder.

I have been reading the manual but i still couldn't figure it out how the coming home/leaving home lights work.
Anyone can advise how this work?

Not sure how it is specific to Mazda3, but coming home lights usually refers to a time-delayed shut-off for headlamps on automatic mode.

When you shut down engine, headlamps usually stay on for a while if you set them certain time. Coming home lights, in most brands, when you pull the headlamp control stalk (like when flashing) while engine off, it will tell the headlamps to stay on for maybe ~1 minute to "light your way home". Usually, your headlamps must be in auto-mode.
This is a thing that is more suited to other countries where their houses have driveways.

Sg roads are perfect for 19s. The 2013 SEMA M3 Clubsport was on 19x8.5 et45 G25s. There are good light wheels like this 19pounder: 19x8 et48 Enkei RPF1s. IMO, they just look aesthetically proportioned to our 3s.:)

19"s might get a bit bumpy... and with all the start-stop traffic I doubt they'd be good for economy.

Perhaps, but having none of that chrome gives the M3 a totally different persona...not the grille nor beltline...M3an!!!!:)
None of em is dipped either. All 3M matte black wrap, rims are dark gunmetal, though.:)
I am not a big fan of chrome either. I have blacked out the grill and beltline with vinyl. I left the badges in chrome tho.

Bumpier, true. But economy is relative to variables like unsprung rotational mass & tire type....
19s just seem to fit so well.
And, it wouldn't surprise anyone if the anticipated mazdaspeed/MPS variant will come with em.:)

In the another Mazda forum there was this heated debate on chrome vs dipping in black. Then it came to a point where no one was winning. At the end of the day as long as you are happy that's good enough. I was just chatting with one of the Mazda owners here who seldom post, he was telling me some wise words if people spend money and post their pictures here and others come in and criticise say not nice etc... What is the guy to do? He has spent money on it already. So what he will do is to defend his choice. Then the original critique will retort and then... Burger King Flame wars! If I spend a good amount of money on rims only to get criticised of course I will prob feel hurt too...
But I think over here we are still friendly and civil which is what makes this thread rock. But if I post some pictures of my car or choice of accessories and it's not to your taste, go easy on me ok?

True words indeed bro. Did you change to 19" rims ? If so can I ask if you notice any change in fuel economy if you don't mind sharing?
Just can't find any point on adding hurt where there's already too much of that in this world, brothah.True words indeed bro. Did you change to 19" rims ? If so can I ask if you notice any change in fuel economy if you don't mind sharing?
On my rims, I ditched my 16s the day I got the car for 18s, Swapped that after break-in for a set of aussie-made 19s, then had an opportunity to do a 3way swap w/ 2 buddies to land this current set of LC818 19s.
Sadly, we're probably the world's traffic jam capital. I see static traffic daily where a 5km drive may take an hour, it's ridiculous. FC becomes too pointless for anyone here to monitor precisely, sadly. I simply do the km ran vs gas-up average FC method. On really bad days, I'd probably average a very poor 12km per 100, at best on long drives between 6-8.
I can definitely say lighter wheels really give you that feeling of added horses, no placebo, I'm sure....added efficiency should translate to better FC. If we can't squeeze out the full potential of the 3, might as well have fun w/ its looks....make it pretend it's some euro....or.... wannabe....Hypocrisy is milder than hurt. Hahaha.
Grass in sg is greener. You guys there are truly blessed....count em blessings. We over here look for other sources than FC to smile about.:)

Actually 19 inch looks really nice. The bigger the rims the better it looks but I was reading somewhere that the optimum size is 17". Anyway for 12km/L it is actually pretty decent, for city driving on my current car I seldom achieve that unless I travel on expressways regularly. Well at least we can have fun with its looks like you mentioned... modding is actually a full time hobby and an expensive one to boot.

True words indeed bro. Did you change to 19" rims ? If so can I ask if you notice any change in fuel economy if you don't mind sharing?

From my previous experience, upsizing rims 2" bigger than OEM wheels didn't really change the fuel economy that noticably unless I drove the car hard. Upsizing from 16" stock to 19" may reduce your fuel economy a bit, but I doubt it would be significant if you drive your car normally.

Mine is a deluxe Mazda 3, so the center of the grill is glossy. To match the center, I wrapped the grill surrounding with gloss black :) I am still contemplating whether to black out the front and the rear emblems. The Mazda 3 badge at the back is difficult to wrap and may be better with dipping.

Read from past posts, M3 stock rims is much heavy and most of bros here do change to their rims (17" or above) to archive better FC.
Just my thought, true to a certain sense, but the saving in petrol cant buy your rims over 10 years.

Just my 2 cents...:)

Stock rims is 9 kg....u get better FC for using lighter rims, also pickup much faster...steering also very light to turn, less stress on the joint and power steering motor, and tires super grip can sweep corner...stability at high speed...endless...worth the money....if not rims shop close down liao!

A lot of factors affect FC. The route u travel (with slopes, traffic lights) vs expressway also matter. IMO, no point comparing FC. Just love your ride!

It's very easy to do. But my Wife prefer it to remain chrome. So I dint dip it.
Rear looks simple but the front have spaces behind the emblem. Dun wanna spray in the gaps as it must be thick in order to peel right?

I had been looking at spoiler on Taobao too because the 2.0L one looks nice.

But I've more or less concluded that it's impossible to match the colour. The entire technology involved in creating Soul Red is like nothing on the market. To use an analogy, if you watch Full HD on an old CRT TV, it just won't be the same however close it is. The closeness is limited by technology.

See how Mazda describes it:
http://www.mazda.com...ineers/soulred/

Soul red has a unique mix of translucence and depth of color. To realize this mix, the engineering team devised a novel coating structure. A semi-transparent paint layer was coated on a reflecting layer comprised of regularly arrayed aluminum flakes. A clear layer that emphasizes translucence was coated on top of the paint layer. To reproduce the color intensity of soul red faithfully and keep the color perfectly universal on the whole of the body surface, the thickness of the coating on every part was meticulously controlled.

Also, TAKUMINURI, a cutting-edge robotic painting technology, was crucial to applying soul red to mass production cars. TAKUMINURI uses data obtained through simulation painting done by experienced human painters such as the distribution of coating thickness ? to improve robotic painting. In light of the data, the painting process for each part was reformed and a new controlling system was developed.

I think need to do some taping to cover the gap. Otherwise, take the emblem off the grill, then spray like how Minsanity showed. If I am not mistaken, the front emblem is only held by some tabs, not doublesided taped.Rear looks simple but the front have spaces behind the emblem. Dun wanna spray in the gaps as it must be thick in order to peel right?

Wow... I haven't seen this sold in Singapore. It would look stunning.Instead of dip, a better option, IMO, would be Duplicolor Shadow Chrome Blackout Coating...

Bro, bought this on TB which comes painted, http://world.taobao....8556.0.0.qS9gcs you may wanna try this if yours is the sedan version (approx SGD $20-ish inclu shipping). I have not received it yet, neither have I gotten my car, we'll just have to see how close they can get in terms of colour..

Do you know if they sell the spray can for you to DIY? Was thinking to get their VHT spray paints for brake caliper painting.. or do hardware shops outside sell VHT paints as well?? Thanks.

those shades are way too garish for my taste, a bit darker can.

If you want this sort of thing though there is a water-transfer printing service advertising here on the forum. They can probably do something similar with more customization.

Thinking of doing it in white colour, match the leather seats

I was looking at the A3 also...
But look closer at the spec, its a bloody overpriced car....
No keyless start...
No electric seat....
No sunroof.....
I also dont remebering seeing gps when I test drove A3.
And its a whopping 40k above mz3 deluxe back then...

The GPS is hidden when not use. Press a button it will elect from the dash. Pricing now is about 30k different, at the same time omv also about 10k different. I realise m3 omv has decreased a little. Just keeping my finger cross and hope this weekend car expo will have good deal for m3.. But based on official price list, price has went up by 4k.

I got window tint, car mat and higher trade-in value for my old car (compared to what Hyundai or Kia was willing to offer).
my 3m insulator come oredi.....will do a review tomolo....
ok. looks like im not alone in experiencing this vibration during idling traffic light...
the issue is that the idling is too low...

will ask for rectification during my 5k servicing..

the vibration is annoying...short term solution is to shift to Neutral at every junction..

The MMI screen can be hidden when not in use, unlike the MZD Connect screen (which is quite ugly standing up imho). A3 is also, well, I guess, some would say much more refined and quiet car.
Ambiente Plus/Ambition (upper level trim) for A3 have Navigation Plus in its MMI, the lower spec Ambiente model is MMI only without navigation.
Edited by 7hm, 04 November 2015 - 09:57 PM.
A3 has its plus points. The engine is much torquier than the Mazda3 due to 1.4 turbo. The info system emerges from the dash once you start the car and retracts and is completely hidden when you turn off the car. The A3 is also much quieter. The OMV is also much higher.

However, if you want the frills that come with the Mazda and you're not a speedy driver, then the Mazda is much more worth it. Stuff on the dlx Mazda that are not found on the A3 include:

1) keyless entry and start
2) sunroof
3) electric driver seat
4) Not very sure about GPS cos I didn't check it out in my friend's A3
5) ADD (HUD)

The Audi does feel more solidly constructed but the Mazda is really close in terms of quality and finish.

They both have headlight washers (small detail I know but fun to have nonetheless).

Pls note that I've not collected my Mazda3 yet and I've only driven around in my friend's A3 once (along the AYE) so the above is just my two cents based on limited experience.
