yes, Jul pricing is 111888. Just came back from showroom this afternoon.
With additional 5k discount ?
Can I also know how to let the system stay on the Home page? It keeps jumping to my current selection eg Radio and Disc.
Thanks.
Any M3 owners replaced to a lower profile while still using 16"? I recall Mazda used to give those lovely 17" rims.

Hi, anyone bought the standard version that comes with the local fitted infotainment system? I want to know how to update the map to include Malaysia and other countries.

press home and power down car in that screen.

should be the same last screen when restart the car.

Not sure of this but I bet it's down loading the maps to a thumb drive and stick it into the system.
Seeing that M3 comes with 205/60 R16 tyres, I am looking to replacing the stock tyres. If I want to reduce the profile to say 55, the closest match is 225/55 R16. But this is a strange size. I did a down size on my current ride which gave me the closest size to original, but it's still noticeably smaller.

Gotta maintain the aspect ratio. If you dont change to larger rims, it would look odd as the gap will be bigger.

Yup. Mazda still giving the rebate. But more difficult to get freebies as their margin reduce by 5k
Think up next in July they will absorb the 5K cev surcharge and its back to 111888. Lol.
Sister, ya one brother confirmed it's $111,888 for July le. Lol

It's good to share the latest pricing here so that potential buyers will be aware. When I first walked into Mazda, I thought I had a good deal but as usual I didn't sign on the spot. Went home and got two other SEs quotation, then I realised the first SE who attended to me initially didn't give me the best deal.

yup, same AD different SE also give different prices. How's the best offer so far after all discounts?

I've been to both their showrooms and the rebates structure is the same. Only extra you get is if you're trading in a Mazda, then you'll get 1k loyalty discount.

The rebate structure is mostly the same. But what I was referring was that the first SE who attended to me did not give the full rebates.. Anyway, it's good that there is mcf so car buyers can know the pricing before going down.
Even the two SEs whom I communicated through whatsapp can give slightly different pricing, though the difference is only at most 1-2k
SE can do wonders, my friend got 3k overtrade for a 9yr 8 mths lancer

in all aspect, the 3 at this price be it std or deluxe is a steal compared to others. korean may give high coe rebate, others may have stronger brand names for mit vehicles, contis even have highline versions coming from mexico...

with my 3SP, i dun get any problems after almost 200k km and 8 yrs driving vs what i have witness from my friend more 'value' or more 'valuable' rides

for me the current 3 struck the right chord... not 'cheap' but 'worthy' when compare to others at current coe levels. ;p

btw, understand the std model, free lcd no stock :(
Correct, that's exactly what I am driving at. Actually the price can be further reduced from the standard rebate but you would be taking a lower COE rebate and non guaranteed. A brother tried this approach with Mazda and got his ride. I countered the SE who said this can be done but it becomes non guaranteed. With the end June registration drawing near, I dare not take up this option.SE can do wonders, my friend got 3k overtrade for a 9yr 8 mths lancer

So really it's a matter how hungry the SEs are hungry for your deal. Therefore dun just blindly sign on the spot thinking that the rebates are standard.

Hey guys, i have a general question:

when getting your new cars, and if getting car insurance through the dealer, how usually is the insurance payment settled? do they bill into the total car loan? or have to pay separately, directly to insurance company or to the dealer? Thanks!

They would have been able to quote you the premium on the spot. In the final payment, there would be a column where the premium is stated and you have the option of paying it through cheque or interest free instalments through credit cards.
i think getting the insurance with them is still the best. 1st 12 month got 1-4-1 replacement.
After 12 months changes lol.... i have checked with NTUC income but does not come with 1-4-1 even in 1st 12 mths.

Oh yeah, normally it's non guarantee bid. Dunno how much Mazda charge for 1 bid guarantee Coe. Need to factor that cost. Otherwise they might pull a 'Borneo motors' stunt on you. Lol.

but but but! based on my experience, they no matter how still give you even with non guaranteed package. so if you are not in urgent need of car, take time and save the extra time... again but but but, that is just my experience with Mazda.. not sure about others

Partly also becoz they can't let their car price roller coaster up and down, causing buyers to track like stock market and hesitating whether to buy now or later. You know how companies hate to see roller coaster monthly sales report.
Wah that time when they had this one bid guaranteed, I told them my base price for Mazda 3 standard was $100k, cos I counted all in with 1 bid guaranteed it was $103888. The SE told me in this case 100k becomes non guaranteed. I didn't dare to take the risk.Mine was 1 bid guarantee. Just breeze thru the process. Dam shiok. They're a good AD. That was the time when COE looked like it would escalate sky high.

Frankly, once you bought it, just enjoy it. Then perhaps in another two years, if the COE falls like a rock, your remaining value in COE of your present car would be quite substantial. You can trade that in, and with a little top up, get a new car.

Your car would most probably be worth more than scrap value ( COE rebates + PARF ), as it is a Euro IV, and could be exported as reconditioned car even to NZ.

So don't punish the wall, and look on the brighter side, Bro. :-)

Don't worry too much. After one year you can always look for a better quote from other insurance companies like NTUC, AAS recommendation, Direct Asia.

Buying insurance is like having a fire extinguisher. The problem is, safe drivers end up paying for the reckless ones.

They will always come up with this and that, to give or remove discounts.

The real reasonis the relative pricing of similar class cars. This is because buyers will always have at least two different makes of similar class cars in mind.

It's like the petrol companies. Thus in a way it's kind of price-fixing, but they don't consult one another directly. Thus not illegal under the price-fixing law.

NCD % usually affected after a claim in done against your policy.
protector is meant to protect NCD in event of a claim. Machiam like a plasma shield if u do play starcraft...

May vary accordingly to different insurer u r covered under with.
By default, some insurer will give free as loyalty customer freebies or u need to pay additional 10-15% extra on the base premium.

I just got my new m3 ride for a week. Last two days I notice my istop function, which was working fine before , will restart my engine after 15-20 secs even though I am still pressing on the brake pedal ( no I also didn't shift the wheel or touch anything else) .
Any advise ? Should I get madza to check my battery or something in the next servicing ?

One of the criteria, of all things, for itstop to work is the AC temp. According to the SE, it will not function if the temp is too high. I drove just now at 24 deg and it worked fine.
About the timing, I noticed that if you go into one of of the menus - 'App' iirc - in the istop menu, you can see a timing. Mine was 13 sec. Have no idea about that time honestly. But yeah, I encountered that too. It will restart after some time even if you are still stepping on the brakes.
Anyway how I use it is when I hit red light at a major junction, I'll activate it. When the other direction is turning amber, I'll lift my foot slightly to restart the engine, while still braked. It works and the 'auto restart' did not happen.

istop will not work if the small battery that use to power your car while your engine is off is weak. It will start up your car and load the main system. Engine break if possible so that you can "charge" up the small batt.

Dun worry it should be fine. i personally experience the amount for i-stop time depend on the build up during braking, as it charge up the capacitor which generate the energy to operate mazda 3. Therefore once the level of energy is low the engine will restart taking back control.
Thanks for the advices on my istop problem . Anyway to check whether if the capacitor is indeed low which therefore cause the engine to start prematurely ?
Honestly other than this problem I have been enjoying my new ride. .

Nope it is the other way. If you set AC temp too low, it will dry up the capacitor energy faster. When capacitor energy is used up, the engine will restart automatically.

A bit more into the istop technology: your car's electronic devices all need power. and usually they are powered by a generator connected with car engine. Mazda added a capacitor to recycle energy when braking/slowing down. So when capacitor has certain energy, engine can stop, while capacitor can power all the devices without burning fuel.

In the first 10 mins driving your car, usually the capacitor doesn't have chances to save much energy from braking yet. Hence after engine stops, it can't last long. ANd if you set AC temp low, it will consume energy from capacity faster.

And just in case if some don't know, capacity can't store energy for long. This is a key difference comparing to batteries. And this is a key difference to Hybrid cars. That means, every time you park your car and shut down your engine for more than 10-20 mins, the "short istop timing" thing will happen again, coz the capacitor needs time to store enough power again.
Hi
Thanks for the advices on my istop problem . Anyway to check whether if the capacitor is indeed low which therefore cause the engine to start prematurely ?
Honestly other than this problem I have been enjoying my new ride. .

mine is standard version and there is no way to check capacity energy level. Not sure about Deluxe version.

But if your car has that problem even after 20+ mins driving, and your AC temp is not set too low, then send to Mazda to check. Remember, the more electronic stuff you have, the lower AC temp you set, the shorter istop can sustain.

Mine is swinging between 6.0 - 6.1 after 1000km.

i think this is the best i can get in reality. every time i bring my whole family out (full-load), it goes up to 6.1. after a few days light-load (just my wife and me) for commuting to office, it goes down to 6.0

maybe after the first servicing it can get even better... since everyone says new engine consumes more fuel. :P

Yup whenever your car is slowing down (braking, or simply lifting up from accelerator) the e-loop will kick in to recycle the car's momentum into electricity and charge the capacitor. But if the car speed if low like below 15-20 km/hr, e-loop would not kick in.

regarding the blue light thing:

if you notice on most other cars, they get a engine temp gauge. Mazda simplified it into this color code system. when engine is cold, it's blue; when normal temp, it's off; when too hot, it's red. Totally makes sense in my view. I don't need that much info from a temp gauge. :)

by the way, i-stop would not work until cold engine light is off

Some questions puzzling me.....
Wonder if any1 have the same experience as mine?

1) Does anyone experience the blue color icon, think is the "Low coolant temperature" on every cold startup? but the blue light does go off in about 20-30 seconds...

2) Does anyone heard loud rev sound on cold startup... thinking the RPM hover around 1-2 K RPM before coming down in the next 10-15 seconds ... is this normal?

3) During parking mode and idling, any1 feel that periodically jerk a bit... or maybe i am too sensitive to car motion...

4) My old ride have the individual trip distance travel (till next reset)... i can't seem to find this option in M3, only the total mileage travel on the left cluster display...

other than above 3 issues.... quite satisfied with the handling.

sadly i havent even save a tree (x 0) .. Only 3.1 KM saved on iStop...

Wonder if i can achieve 5.6l/100KM in 1 full tank... Look forward to it..

I have the same experiences on he first three point . Think it's quite normal
I only manage to bring it to 7.8l /100 km after three quarter of the tank I hope the fc improves as the engine runs in .

For first 3 points any combustion engine will do this. The engine and exhaust need to reach an optimal temperature to perform well. However it is ok to drive off immediately in our climate. I do feel that the inital warming noise is a bit too loud, but the noise is not from the engine during the heating up but from something else of a high pitch noise. The sound goes away when the blue light goes off.

for point 3..it is the aircon compressor cutting in and out while the engine is on. there will be dead silence when the engine is cut.

I am quite heavy foot a times and after drive for a while, to get <7.7km(combined), i must not rev more than 2k on most gears except the first couple. my ave speed is 36km/hr on the meter which i think is on the higher side with 70% highway,30%city driving.Mine is 2litre by the way so it sip a little more fuel.

Hi all
I just got my new m3 ride for a week. Last two days I notice my istop function, which was working fine before , will restart my engine after 15-20 secs even though I am still pressing on the brake pedal ( no I also didn't shift the wheel or touch anything else) .
Any advise ? Should I get madza to check my battery or something in the next servicing ?

Probably cause these few days weather is extra hot? So if you on temperature low, then may not even kick-in. For me i prefer to cozy temperature, so i usually set at 26.5deg. Even then, the iStop do not often kick in especially during the afternoon period

Another thing about iStop, it activates only when you pressure on the brakes is sufficient. Initially, i also wonder why mine often don't kick in. Then i realized becoz of my habit, usually my previous rides, i just lightly tap on the brakes at the traffic light. It needs a certain amt of pressure to activate it. So just take note. As long as the iStop sign on the dashboard is blinking when you stop, means the conditions are met for iStop to be activated, if yours is not activated, just step on the brakes harder.

think of it this way, the aircon and radio and all the electronics still need power after the engine is cut. where do you think it comes from? how long do you think that power source will last?

you need to really press down hard with your foot and hold it there to activate the i-stop.

Actually I found out that the car needs to drive a bit for the capacitor to be fully charged then when u activate istop the engine won't restart by itself
This morning I drove around 20 min then when I try my istop , the engine did not restart for a whole 60 secs . I notice the capacitor was about 6 bars ( you can see it from your ieloop screen on your Mzconnect screen) . If the capacitor is only 2 bars then the engine will restart very shortly after you activate istop.
If you use your aircon too strongly then the capacitor diminish its bars faster and you might not able to even activate your istop

supposed to be ex stock, but i got the std version, SE says over demand, not enuf pple working on the local leather, no LCD display until 1k servicing. the car got registered today, but no collection date yet.

Hi everyone,

Am deciding between M3 and Sylphy. Heart says M3 but head says Sylphy. Can I ask if the aircon in M3 is cold enough for rear passengers (esp in the afternoon)and whether the white leather seat will be easily dirty?

Thanks in advance!

Can the M3 2.0 drivers give us some idea of your typical fuel consumption?

On paper it looks like it is supposed to be as good as the 1.5?!
don't worry too much, just hoot the 2.0L

Specs almost the same, real world should be not much difference from 1.5L real world. Sometimes, could be even better due to less strains on bigger engine especially if you do lotsa stop/start, climbing MCSCPs, etc.

A bit difficult to say as it is probably down to personal feel as some do not like to feel the cold wind

Still, my previous rides always have a rear air-con until I bought this M3. My kids says they are comfortable despite the hot weather in the past few months. My wife, in particular, like it as there is no draft, but still comfy.

I was apprehensive of white inthe beginning, after having a dark one for 8 years. Have gone through several colours, red, silver, light blue, brown, maroon, grey.

Grey was worse. Of course silver is better.

Sylphy, uses CVT. Find out about that, and see if you are happy with it. The transmission is belt driven.

On the other hand, Tan Chong is Malaysian. Even if you service your car at Tan Chong JB, the warranty will not be void.

In terms of space and comfort, Sylphy is better. CVT also means smoother and quieter engine. Looks wise, Nissan sedan has never been good ( except the sports models, Fairlady, GTR).

A colleague called it: Uncle's kind of car. Mazda has better looks, and 10 years from now, it would still look good, judging from the first M3 model.

My take on rear AC. Don't think it's an issue. The tinting at the rear windows are darker than the front. So it's not too bad. The auto ac, as in any car, will blast then lower the fan speed. My ac is fixed at 24 now. Any lower everybody will freeze.
Nissan? The looks get dated very quickly imo, as the design is very conservative. I drove the old sunny and the experience was horrible.

After last 2 days of observation, yes it is confirmed!
It restarted the engine at time even my elephant foot is on the brake pedal... as the commander screen show my running low on the capacitor level. ard 1. Can last 2 minutes or more if it is full charged with 6 bars I think....

Well... the charging of the capacitor is also very fast.... I realized from the screen... brake a few time from high speed... wohoo... it is almost charged.
Talk about headroom on M3, how high do you sit? I'm too used to cars with plenty of headroom, I'm having trouble deciding how high to sit. Currently I'm a fist away from the moonroof shade. Plus the front bonnet is so long.

U have to log on using wifi. Not sure will that occur extra charges.
The moment you connect to wifi , the app can download traffic conditions but the subscription is only for one year starting from the moment you click yes after your wifi connection is established. The app is at your navigation page.
I try but it takes a while to download . Have to try again when I have more time

Well, alot of places offer ceramic coating services. i didn't check the market rate, but just went for a recommendation by a friend to use Nick and Vin at Downtown East. i don't think they are cheap, but they did a good job. They spent close to 5 hours on my M3.

Hehehhheehehh, You have to get used to not seeing the bonnet from where you are sitting. Can be difficult when in a congestion like at the checkpoints. So need to learn how close you can get to the car in front.

M3 is like a continental car, in that aspect. It is actually meant to run free on highways and well-paved country roads, not in congested Singapore. For that, M2 would be better. Notice, M2 also has a 1.5l engine, but smaller and nifty, for urban driving.

I actually sit relatively high, to see a little of the bonnet. Thus when I look at the sunshade's mirror, I can get cross-eyed! lol. So looks like we have the same problem. My old M3 SP has better head clearance. I suppose it is a matter of getting used to the car.
It feels strange for me not seeing some bonnet and you'll start raising your head to see what's in front. I'm looking at roughly the middle of the windscreen now. And It doesn't help that the power seats have no memory function. Plus my wife is driving the car occasionally so have to adjust again. Pita man.

I think default format is FAT32. Because not all devices are able to recognise exFAT. Hence FAT32 is more the commonly used one.
Mazda3 is definitely not like a continental car... feels strange to hear that :p. Finally got to drive it into malaysia roads.... feels 110% like a typical japanese car .. haha. But it is definitely a very value for money car.
Anyone has their MZ connect screen rebooting intermittently especially after a cold start in the morning ?
My screen keeps going back to the first page, later in the afternoon it sort of resumed normal again . Happen for the past two mornings .

can safely say all cars in singapore are expensive.. some say #1 most expensive in the world!! lols.

old Mazda 3 used the same platform as Ford Focus - maybe that's where the impression comes from

i owned a Mazda before and it definitely doesnt drive like honda or toyota. i feel it drives closer to BMW in all honesty but of course the torque and ponies not comparable la. the handling and road feel.... very BMW

Bro, I agree as I test driven both Mazda and BMW 3 series......

3 series engine pick up is more like Honda's but Mazda's interior and feel is more like BMW's.....

Merc engine feels more like Mazda's new generation ones....... not tried Audi though......

I believe the price difference between a beamer/conti and a Jap car is mostly in the before (ads/mktg, etc.) / aftersales service and branding. (Mazda has done a great job in bridging the interior quality with the contis)...

Hence, depends on what you want in a car..... for showmanship (or seen in one) or value........

My 2 cents :)

Jap car will forever be jap car. When ppl say Mazda is like conti car they're talking about the materials and features. Design a little conti, maybe. Conti car designs are very distinctive, very euro.
In fact I see that jap cars now have or going for a very similar design. For instance Altis and M3. Gives me the same vibe. A decade ago, cars in this class look staid since they are BB cars. Conti also have staid cars like Opel. Imo Mazda is currently producing aces and setting the trend. That's why I chose it!
My Mazda 3 2L 2010

What I liked:
- handling very zoom zoom (very close to BMW 320 I tested)
- heavy steering
- paddle shifters (very useful since it is only 5-speed)
- exterior looks good / sporty
-comes with top line equipment like bi-xenon lights, rain sensor, folding side mirrors
- interior very nice for its time in 2009
- auto door lock when you walk away (i miss this feature!)

What I didn't like:
- engine is very noisey and under powered (even for 2L on a Mazda 3 body)
- soft plastic on the dashboard melts under the sun! becomes sticky.....
- torque is poor for 2L engine
- parts (original) are quite expensive
- lousy resale value
