Yes, but only if I intend/have the means to change new car every 3-5 yrs...
For Bnb cars better to keep itsimpler & keep omv low since arf leverages on it.

My family have 3 people sharing the car, it's quite frustrating trying to get the driver seat back to the position each of us want. So memory seats are useful in this aspect. I'm assuming electric seats r memory seats right?

Not necessarily. Some are just electric but no memory function (like my Veloster Turbo). Luckily I am the only one that drive my car :)
Yup... Cool right..?.... Hehehe... But I don't like actually.....

Errr...are u sure? That *bottom right box* in the corner of the tachometershowing the speed flips up and down? Or are you talking about the centre screen?
There is no perfect car lah. I would be damn happy if could have the new Mazda 3 hatchback in the early years, so nice! These are minor thingy to me.

Ya I know ah...I am just saying that it's a pity the didn't put it in as I don't think it is something very expensive to put (since i30 can put). And neither am I criticising it just becos it lack this item. Heck if my car was 5 or 6 yrs old now I would probably get it and I just recommended one of my colleagues to buy it as he was looking for a "cheap and good" car.

the term Mazda used for your so called flipper is active display. i find it quite innovative and its concept is similar to the head up display on fighter aircraft..

Wah!! Looks cool! Now I really feel like going down to take a look tomorrow!

safety features are not the same lar... just like the mz3 got this open up screen/panel which shows the speed thingy... ... everytime start engine is open and close when stop car.. wonder can the mechanism or motor last 10yrs... actually, i prefer old school speedometer instead of digital.... no kick seeing numbers.. i like to see the needle moves up when i step on gas......

So the new Mz3's speedometer is digital? Hmmm......I also prefer the old school speedometer with the needle moving up and down.....Lesser probability of error.

These days, cars are designed, engineered and manufactured with too much electronics. I very much like cars to be more mechanical with minimum electronic components.

Airbags to me are a necessity. Safety always first. what I am refering to for electronic gadgets were those GPS or touch screen display, high performance audio systems...etc. Somehow, I dont really use these electronic gadgets as much. Eg. how often does a driver meddles the touch screen during his drive or d you rely on GPS when drving locally..?

What I do see in the basics of a car is the safety and comfy-ness. Especially the seats, like the side supports of the seat when making a turn, how well it supports your left and right of your body, the length or width of the base of the seats, does it gives enough support to your cover your thighs. Rear seat Air-con vents...etc.

Thats just my personal preferences...

I agree with you on the airbags and basics of a car (comfy-ness, seats etc.)

As for GPS and audio systems (such as ICE), I think it is a case of personal preference and I agree that I can make do with OEM items for these gadgets so long as they satisfy OEM standards (such as TS 16949 or ISO) which many a time is the case.
I have been to the show room to see the new M3. What I like about the new M3 is the seats and more comfortable with better side body support. Better leg room and headspace for the rear and also the boot space. Looks bigger than my current M3. And lastly, the design looks classy... Oh, really tempted to take the bait for the new M3.... :)
By the way, is there any part of M3 which attracts you guys the most apart from the equip...? I mean design, comfort, safety..etc..?

hmmm i neber own old maz 3 before i seat in before and i rem the 2007-8 maz 3 the rear space and headroom is much better compare to the 2014 model...

i must say the test drive 2014 maz 3 seat is good as the demo car uses the best seat with best leather use. they do not demo the standard model with normal seat...

my opinion is that how comfortable you sit in the demo car is really not accurate if you base on the demo car u test drove...

For me, the design, build/finishing, engaging drive, very good steering feel....And most importantly, 6at gearbox... Hehehe

Check out the Mazda 6 thread, there are a few who reported figures of 12km/l for the 2.5
Which is damn good for a 2.5l... So, I'm betting I can get around 13-14 for mz3... And what's holding me back from k3 is I might get 10-11 only or even lesser with my driving style....
anyone went to the Mazda showroom today? was it as crowded as last weekend?
this is my 1/6 non guaranteed COE bid and was told tat didnt secure the COE for this round.. :(

That's strange cos thought they should be obligated to put in a bid.
Like that counted as 1 bid already? or must they actually put in 6 bids to count cos if they say not counted then where does it end???
Sorry, not trying to be a damp squid but one way to interpret is the COE price went past what they were willing to bid for so they decided no point to bid. They'll tell you differently though likely say stock not here yet so no need to bid early!
Anyway, good luck when they eventually bid and keep us informed!!! Cheers!!

more accurate to say: 6 bidding exercise / auctions.

not 6 actual bids...

Sorry bro, if June then very strange cos it's only a month away.
Doesn't look correct to me.
I bought 2 Mazdas before, first one 323 in year 2000 and a MZ 3 SP in 2006.
The 323 in 2000, they did the same to me and in the end I ended up paying 3k more for the car cos my heart was set on it. On hindsight, I shouldn't have done this. Then again, Mazda was under diff Mgmt then.
Although I've not been to the showroom, saw the car on the road and it looks real chio! As the saying goes my heart "sim ngiaow ngiaow" haha!!!!
more accurate to say: 6 bidding exercise / auctions.

not 6 actual bids...
Thks for the clarification! So that means 1 bid gone and more or less confirms my theory that the COE went past their bid price so they didn't bid cos otherwise they surely would hv put in a bid.
Touch wood for fultime68 but it seems to me that if the COE is at 65k thereabouts for the next 5 bids, he's unlikely to get it.
That said, last min Mazda may change their minds n decide to make less but I'm pretty sure they'll put pressure for him to top-up.
We shall see!!

I use RON 98, compared to lower grade of petrol, it given better consumption (maybe 5%) and more powerful response
I use RON 98, compared to lower grade of petrol, it given better consumption (maybe 5%) and more powerful response
Tks for the info!!!
If it's 5% better consumption then may be more worth to pump RON98 cos it costs about 5% more than RON95 but I also agree that RON98 response is better.

Whilst that likely seems to be the case, u nvr know cos sometimes
after collecting so many bookings, they may decide to let you have the car at few k profit only. Better that then no sale at all right? Anyway they have a quota to meet as well so can't be all not successful for those who bought at the 100k/106k price.
That said, it's abit like poker; see who blink first cos always got customers willing to top up.
As I said earlier, in 2000, I blinked first!!! I knew of another customer who didn't blink and got the COE albeit later. Can't win them all I guess!

i am sure you guys knows that this car have high compression ratio.

my understand is higher the ratio, the higher the ron you need to fill up ur fuel tank.

it say new maz 3 can take 95... but i think ron 98 will be prefect for this car in long run. just base on things i read...

i checked yesterday. Mazda did not place bid for me.. :(

Both my brother and I did not get the COE this round even though we went for guaranteed bidding. So left 5/6 My guess is that there are many more people who bought guaranteed COE earlier so they must have taken up the quota. Most of the showrooms were packed this month. Even on weekdays there are people at the showroom.

If you really need a car, just paid the extra 4K to secure it.

The deluxe started at 105K, by the time I test drive it was 106K. After test drive it went up to 108K. Today 109K.

Sounds like the drop in COE prices is slowly covered over by the increase in car prices. In the end, close to before COE quota increase...? I am just wondering..

Totally agree with this. If you have got a 50k rebate, your are paying 60K for your COE. I don't mind the noise, in fact it is more fun and engaging to drive with acceleration noise.. :) Pickup is really ok, that is if you are not participating in a drag race.
This is the recommended psi for the tires. Is 36 psi usual? and 41 psi when more load? i thought this is on a high side for a saloon car. i pumped only 32 psi for my previous car.

Yes i also pump 32psi for my Civic currently so it is abit strange.
Used to own a Mz3 SP from 2006 to 2010 n if I remember correctly it was 32psi as well. That said, suggest you follow the recommendation. Maybe when you send for servicing can ask the Service Advisorto confirm or the reason.
Enjoy your new ride!!!

If the accelerator for the Mazda 3 is similar to that of the Mazda 6, just bear in mind that there's a kickdown point when you step on the accelerator. You should feel and hear an audible "click" when you reach this point and the car will then drop 2 gears or so and rev to 4k or more almost instantaneously.
When I test-drove the car the first time, I didn't know that there's this "feature" and was disappointed with the pickup too.

You should feel and hear an audible "click" when you reach this point and the car will then drop 2 gears or so and rev to 4k or more almost instantaneously.
When I test-drove the car the first time, I didn't know that there's this "feature" and was disappointed with the pickup too.
Not sure what you mean by that but all auto gearbox can downgear.... Even at above 100kmh, I can down gear to 3rd to overtake car with my Latio... All auto car can do that..
that's incorrect. in fact 40% of the cars on the road today will reach 10 yrs within 3 yrs!!As of April 2014, there are 605,184 cars on the road. So you are saying that 16% will be scrapped from 2015 to 2017?

or 70% of the cars on the road today will reach 10 yrs within 5 yrs!!!!

Your Latio also has an audible click in the accelerator at full throttle? If so, I'm a mountain tortoise because my past 2 cars didn't have that.I like road noise actually... That give me assurance that I'm still touching the road... I gets nervous when is to quite.... Hehehe

When I tested M6, the SE admitted that Mazda cars engines are noisy as confirmed by its Jap engineers. Coz the engines have higher compression ratio than other similar Jap brand in the same range.
Mazda cars r noisier due to lesser sound proofing....
You have a PM!
btw, on my fuel consumption. Still running in.. 7.1l per 100km.
Can the meter.display range instead of FC? The SE attended to me during test drive, said cannot change.

Yea, agree with that. Some road noise is good for me too. Feels more engaging also.
Guess what he meant was that Mz cars have a pre-determined point of pedal depression whereby an audible click can be heard. This click point is when the AT will drop 2 gears. Most drivers after driving their AT car for some timewould probably know when the kickdown would occur based on speed, current gear & elevation (slope) of the road.
However, the said"click" (esp when the pointof depression is specific)may add an element of "feeling" in control. This in turns enhances also enhances thefeeling of driver involvement ?Just my guess.

Ummm, I should test again when the time is right but will they allow me to step all the way down?... Btw, can I request to test drive on expressway?.... Hehehe

Mazda 6 can...i think the 3 'should' be also able.

Once deposit paid, then YES,because alot of people test for fun...so NO long distance testing, after paying the deposit for my 6 last year,i went test drive 3 times...

Don't think they allow test drive on expressway. Think even test drive into MSCP also not allow.

Yes, the metre can display range at the touch of a button.

Think I have seen test cars on the expressway.
The T & C only states that u must not drive in a dangerous fashion?
Oh, on what I said about a blower, on hindsight, with a comp at 14.0, dont think its remotely possible. Unless its using an iron engine block which can take insane amounts of boost which i dont think so.

But 120hp/150nm with KW at 1.34 tons, turning tyres with 205 width and diameter of >650mm is really challenging. Considering its compact profile, think using 195/55-16 may help. Or better yet, like ur Latio, use 15 x 6inch rims with 185/65 profile. That should also lower the car by 0.7 inch with a noticeble increase in power/torque by the feel of the butt.

With all due respect, you sure are strange cos buy already why need to test drive so many times since you already decided?
I suppose you may want confirmation of what you bought but abit too late isn't it?

what talking you?? my latio already on 205/55/R16, if i get mz3, dont think i will go with 195xx profile.. i really wanted to have a feel how it drive when i drag to 5-6krpm on expressway... dont think it can be worst than my latio but do have concern the 1.34T might slow it down a lot...

if you are in sales, will you let a big fat meat drop off your mouth which you have already get hold of it?
I would rather cut some portion of the meat away rather than losing the whole piece wor..
I got my COE (2/6) yesterday on the Deluxe version however, my brother on the standard version did not get it. Both of us bought on the same day. And both of us paid for guaranteed COE bidding within 6 rounds.

Guaranteed don't have to worry cos will def get, just a metter of time only.
ADs have a strategy on this and sometimes its due to the car not in yet and sometimes they just want to gamble abit hoping to earn more if COE comes down.
Looks like you will be getting your car earlier though and your bro will have to drool......haha!!!

I think the AD also want to push the car on the road fast for new car models. On the road, it serves as advertising/ marketing!

Bro, don't fret too much, I believe there is a chance to get even if COE remains at 63k thereabouts cos if they are willing to bid at 58k, IMO better then lose you totally, earning less shouldn't be an issue cos they still make I believe.
That said, likely they may put pressure on you to top-up.
My humble suggestion is to resist esp if you not that in a hurry.
My 2 cts worth of opinion only and I hope you are succesful! Good Luck!!!!

OT, as everything went smoothly when I bought my 1st car in 06, I didn't get to exp this "rebate" system thingy. Could u share on the above. TIA.

Rebate means if COE went below this price, you will get a refund on the diff ie in this case rebate is at 50k and if they successfully bidded at say 45k,
5k refund will be given.
There is no co-relation between seliing price, current COE price and rebate as this varies between different ADs. Of course, the AD giving the highest rebate would be the best but in a rising COE market, it makes no diff actually. This only becomes beneficial in a plunging COE market.

How much did you pay for your deluxe?
Maybe it's the route i take daily but i have not seen a single 2014 Mazda 3 on the road so far.

Mazda 6 - less than 10 since mid Apr 14.

2014 Altis - 2 only.
- The radio/entertainment system cannot be switched off. The only way is to mute it.
- There will be sound coming from the front wheel when going over a hump. Will monitor this further.
Some feedbacks on my MZ3
