Loke i said, no big deal as i dont feel the heat from the sun anyway. Also if change windscreen no heart pian.
Free servicing means labor free only am i correct? Still need to pay for parts.

Also, my car comes with free servicing at 10k, dont know if they will charge parts or not?

Supposed to change EO & Oli filter at 10k svc.

Oh, quite reasonable then... services I think 254 is for 20km which they do more checking and inspection.

For 10km is lesser checks maybe...

The rest of the things are quite reasonable priced for AD parts.

Anyway, if I expect to drive around 90 to 100km daily, I think 1 year will clock around 33k which meansI will need to do for 3 servicing. I am thinking if I set $1500 per year for servicing and parts, is it enough?

Might be buying mazda 3 this week. The promotion seems good. 103,999 which covers 3 years freeservicing and 5 years warranty with guaranteed COE. I think this ->covers 3 years freeservicing and 5 years warranty with guaranteed COE is already worth 4k? So if considering 103,999 - 4k = 99,999 which is the priceback inof May 2014

Wow...very good deal. I understand 2 yrs extended warranty costs abt 2k, the 3 yrs free svc costs abt 2k+ assuming its upto 60k. Is that price for Deluxe mdl?

I thought 3 yrs free servicing and 2 yrs extended warranty bothabt 1k each? Guaranteed coe is abt 2k..

the price is I quote from the sgcarmart... problem is we have to take loanfor 5 years (I am ok with taking 50% loan) and take insurance from them. I prefer to source my own insurance. Still thinking if it is better to go down and after next week COE bidding and see if the coe will drop further... also thinking to get their showroom car for discount but the sales person say not much discount..

Seem strange, i would think solar film is all round esp the front has the most exposure. Is it standard practise for Mazda?

I took a good hard look at the windscreen in the traffic light just now.

There is solar film on the windscreen.

Sorry to cause you guys a fright,

the reason I thought there is no solar film is because I can feel the edge of the Sun shade film on the windscreen, so I thought they never fix the solar film.

They actually lay the sun shade film over the solar film .. [thumbsup]

Thats the amt I was given when I asked the SA during svc. I think most AD want you to take loan & insurance as they will get commission/rebates fr the finance companies. btw the insurance quoted is reasonable, just above 1k.

    Huge

just came back from a 20k service with mazda. cost me $480.

v expensive and only items changed are engine oil, oil filter and aircon filter and battery for car key.

they charged me $17 for the car key battery which is just a normal cr2025 battery. really expensive.

I was told by my Mz SA that 40k,80k,120k..(+40k) you have to go back to Mz to service as this services are classified as Major

the rest of the 10ks i.e 10k,20k,30k, 50k..etc...this are normal servicing, which you can do it at their authorised service agent. (That's when shell, city auto were the authorised agents). So you can check with your SA.

The "discount" given for taking up their inhouse insurance is only $500 (as written on my sale slip). So maybe you just forgo this $500 and you free to buy your own insurance.

The owner may have changed but the service charges is maintained from what I see. AD servicing is always higher than outside workshops, it is a norm, but I remember you can still go authorized workshops outside for servicing last time, not sure if it's still the case since my Mazda has always been serviced by Mazda only.

Since MM DAYS in 2010, ouside workshops no more..... During those days when they expanded their showrooms & sales was bad, they even packaged their servicing in bundles & sell at discount

    Hi bros,

Wondering u guys realised something. Our engine bonnet, especially stucked in jam or after a long running, when u apply the spray on wiper, there is some smoke came out when water splashed on it. So when i reach home, i touched on it. Its very hot and ur hand cant hold it for long.
So i open the hood and see the position. It is just right behind the engine near to car firewall there. I think the heat cannot despite to cause the hood very hot. Can someone advise is it normal?

Our SkyActiv engines run hotter than others N/A engine, because it got ultra high compression, nothing to worry about.

oh? Mazda 3 deluxe version got headlight spraying feature? Or mazda 6?

Ya.. could be the high compression ratio.
wondering will it effect the paint or not. Anyone can advise what will be the max temperature that engine can achieve which consider normal? Coz our car dont have the temperature gauge, so still not feel comfortable.

I think we have a bro doing the soundproofing on the engine hood, so is that okay also?

Nobody knows what is the Max temperture, but for Japanese cars,as long as the fan are running,& coolant is enough,it is still 'safe',about the paint on the bonnet,it is the best to wipe dry the area before walking away after the rain,to prevent 'rainspots' forming..

Those cars equiped with standard HID should have this feature,it look like a rectangular piece of plastic below the lights...Front collision sensor or "Smart City Braking System" "SCBS" sensor is on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror.

    Managed 623km on 40L of shell ron98 ... so thats about 15.5km/L .... The OBD indicated 6.7L/100km.

I am officially impressed with FC of this car ... its even better than my 1.4L Fiat Grande Punto which weighs 1 ton.

Mazda 3 weighs 1.3 ton btw and has a 51L fuel tank.

The fuel indicator lighted up at about 52km range left .... so went to station and buy fuel - topped up 40L ... so I would reckon It can go a total of at least 700km if you are driving normally.

Mind you, light footed is not driving like an auntie going to Pasak to buy vegetables ... of course there are moments of sprinting for overtaking and just pure fun ...

and of course, after 20mins of driving, it was time to change gears to run them in.

1 thing to take note is that I dont brake much in corners and I dont zoom in/out during peak hours.

Also worth mentioning is that the car came with 36PSI front/back.

I pumped them up to 40PSI front/back now.

I am not a fan of high profile tires like 60, 55 is optimal for me, 50 is the min I can take but I dont want.

So once the tires run out, will probably change to 215/55R16.

1 thing I am still confused about the car is that I always feel that the steering is trying to fight me in the corners and too sensitive on straights.

What should I do after my 1st 1000km servicing , any suggestions ??? Hehehehe

    3rd tank - 605.8km / 41.78 L = 14.5km/l

Very impressive indeed this Mazda Skyactive with iLoop.

I was fiddling with the manual mode, trying out some spirited driving after warming up for > 20mins.

The orientation of + and - is the opposite of my previous car so I need some time to get used to it.

Still running in the engine so never "hoot" the gearbox as hard as my FIAT.

Also, I was using the cruise control often.

In cruise control mode, the engine is very eager to rev to the target speed so use with caution.

1000 km servicing check never do anything, just check and wash my car.

Nothing to report too so thats good news.

Next time I would want them to check the clearance for the brake pedal as I find them to has too much free play to brake.

I prefer those super "jiak" type but the stock brake feel is dialled towards slow speed comfort brake.

BTW, I am on RON 98 Shell.

I had the opportunity to drive the car in the rain. 2 things I notice that I dont like:

    1) The noise from the windscreen is loud lor ...

    2) The stock tires TOYO seems to aquaplane eagerly.

To be honest when come to buying car, toyota not my cup of tea. There are so many nice cars around Honda vezel, vw jetta, subaru impreza, mazda 3,volvo v40 D2 all within +-20k.

Let us know if you manage to change battery outside without any problem happen to the car k.
Frm what i heard frm ex-mazda SE in order for the car to work properly you must change the battery in their workshop. Not sure whether the SE talk cock or not. Hopefully its not true. Otherwise somebody got to pay $$$$ for maintenance liao.

Lets wait till someone manage to change outside without any problem instead of hearsay :)

Lets wait till someone manage to change outside without any problem instead of hearsay :)

no need wait so long lah, just disengage the ground for 10 mins and put it back can liao.

I dont see any reason why cannot change outside, if you can find Q-85 battery.

I accept views of matters that are subjective, however, for factual ones, I will dispel untruths or just hearsay.

I will be the first to tell you abt the improvements needed to this car eg poor sound insulation, more low end torque needed, rear cabin space, no rear aircon vents, rear floor not flat...etc which are my subjective views.

Factual views eg Battery, it uses Q85 (accept both MF or non MF), this is high powered battery for use in modern day cars. In any case, in my 30yrs of driving, only experience battery flat once & that could have been avoided if I had follow the maintenance schedule. For those really sloppy in this aspect, then be an AA member, dont need to loose sleep.

At the end, there's no perfect car, you buy one which has the most positives & live with the negatives or DIY to overcome it.

Yup. M3 Deluxe comes with headlight spray too.

Our car does have a temp gauge. It just doesnt show when your car is normal. Blue light when cold, Amber light when hot. So, if you see Amber, then engine is too hot.

I did the bonnet sound proofing. So far so good. Most higher value cars all come with bonnet soundproof/insulation. besides making it quieter, it also helps to protect the paintwork.

    Bro ST69,

1 thing to take note is that according to service manual, there is a current sensor at the battery terminal, dont break that.

Also, we might need to re-initiate the Power Window and Sunroof default setting.

Go to page 2004 of the manual to check the correct operation of the battery after removal.

Erm.. I agree, no car is perfect anyway, as long as the driver enjoy it and the "Permanent passenger" loves it.

In fact before I commit to M3, I did tried and view altis then I found that there are few things that I do not really like so I have more dislike than like. Hence I go to M3.

I found the passenger seat dashboard too "Squarish" and my wife told me she doesn't like the feel because she felt quite uncomfortable with the dashboard too near to her. with this "Dislike" from my wife, I cannot get that car lo, even though I quite like the CVT gearbox.. lol....

soundproofing on hood is my next thing to consider that is why I am researching the feedback from other bros whom had the experience on doing that.

I didn't realised that our car has the headlight sprayer. I will try it later...

erm... my last tank was 7.2L / 100KM. actual was 7.37L / 100KM (13.56KM per liter) ; I think it will be improved.

Waaa...you so lucky got that option. Only found in 2.5L luxury mdl which has Front Collision Sensor, Lane Departure, Brake Assist.

Go read the manual or you can try it out. Make sure the headlights on / auto (if dark enuf), then activate wiper.

That can only be found in the top of the range Mazda 3 SP25 Astina.

I hate the autolock thing so I off it.

Now I use my hand to lock or the key to lock, I cant stand thinking after leaving the car for 10 mins " did i lock the door" ... hahahaha

I remember i was able to use the MZD connect to set it for 10, 20 or 30 sec to auto lock the car. So setting it to the minimal, should be able to hear and visualise the locking by hearing the beep and seeing the light flash.

Will double confirm it on Thursday.

Wife just scratch the car while exiting the ramp from her home. So gonna spend the weekend tying to "repair' it and hopefully restore it. See on You tube that it is possible to do it. Just need patient, effort and time.

Just collected my M3 last Friday. It is so f**king beautiful :DIt feels like a continental car, very smooth, modern ride and only downside would be that it's slightly underpowered because of its relatively big body.

As it is my first personal car I have a few qns:

    1. How do I maintain the paint perfectly? When do I have to wash/polish?/wax? it and how?

    2. Saw this earlier in the thread, has anyone here done such a mod yet? How do I go about doing it?

Plenty of companies providing detailing svcs if you dont mind spending $$$ ... Can search the forum under Aftermarket/Detailing. If you like DIY, there's some good pdts available like Permanon, Duragloss etc...

Not if you want LTA after you. These lights are illegal.

Goto MzdConnect, under Apps, Select the top I think is Maintenance, then at the bottom there's a 'reset' icon. See if it works.

Since MM DAYS in 2010, ouside workshops no more..... During those days when they expanded their showrooms & sales was bad, they even packaged their servicing in bundles & sell at discount

I see. Thanks for the information. I am still doing my servicing with Mazda, that's why I didn't know it's been abolished.

The servicing bundle + discount is still there, they typically bundle the 10k & 20k servicing together and by signing the contract you are entitled to free towing service and some discount on parts and labor for any repair work.

Different people different expectation. I can only quote based on mine is that I have no regrets getting it for my 1st car (My choice at that time was between Honda Civic FD and Mazda 3) So far in terms of reliability, Mazda 3(1st Generation/BK) doesn't give me much problem. The designer of Mazda 3 have really done the car justice that it is one of the most popular cars in the World for a compact, and that is enough for me to get a 2nd Mazda 3 (3rd Generation/BM). I also read online that the fuel consumption is now on par/better with/than Toyota now.

Yup. My main concern is the reliability because I ordered the deluxe model. I'm afraid that after 5 years of usage, problems will start surfacing. Biggest doubt is the iEloop system (Most likely I will always off it). Audi A4 got similar system, everytime the traffic light turn green, the car will get a sudden jerk when the engine restarts in a hurry to move off.

start/stop systems are common in European cars & have been around before Mzd due to stringent emission requirements & environmental concerns & better fuel efficiency. this technology helps M3 get their big improvement in fc to 5.7L/100km at least on paper.

iEloop is different from iStop. I think you can disable iStop, though I am not sure there's a switch for iEloop.

iELoop basically converts lost energy during braking/deceleration & store in the SuperCapacitor which is turn used to charge the battery & power the accessories when engine is stopped.

    I hope understand it correctly.

there's quite alot of write-up on this which you may want to read...google Mazda iEloop / iStop. here's one

It is i-stop,i-Eloop is the capacitor that capture the energy from braking, which cannot be switch off,so far my i-Stop already clocked 96 hours of stopping[mine is the first batch of the 6],so far so good.

Now a days,Car Mfg like to use same 'new' odd size of tyres, the Tires Mfg need demand to make new size,in order to make $,also because of odd size like Mazda 6 225/45-19[another damm size [furious]] [mad],Bridgestone is selling a very high price....need to wait a few years before other's Mfg keep up.

Those interested in a more powerful 3, with those big rims, paddle shifters, dual exhaust outlets, do check this out.

Went to do some research and the realised they have brought in the 2.0 mazda3. :D

The Mazda 3,2.0 is running at 14:1 compression[Mazda 6 is 13:1],hence 10 Bhp & 10 Nm more, the body of the 3 also lighter,i think this car will be very fast.

I think it might be lighter since not much luxury items installed.

Vezel & Mazda 3 are different class of car,one is a mini SUV,the other one is Saloon/Hatchback...anyway,i can say Mazda with SkyActiv, save fuel...can be very sure better than Honda.

My actual is 7L / 100KM (Actual calculation)

you might want to compare the features that the car can provides to you. In fact, Korean car offered similar features like M3. The good thing this M3 is from Japan.

Nothing offend , just my own opinion..

Any thing below 4000rpm is O.K.,for the 3,3500-4000 rpm top gear shouldbe around 130-140km/h,which already exceeded M'sia speed limits.

For those keen on the Mazda 3, 2.0 Sport. Test drove it today.

    - Feels much livelier than then 1.5.

    - Nice steering helm and meaty feel. (probably those 18 inchers had some contribution)

    - Good steering feedback.

    - 18 inch rims with Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tyres, paddle shifters, boot lip spoiler (for sedan), dual exhausts (for hatch).

    - every thing else that's good about the 1.5 Deluxe is carried over.

    - $15,000 premium over the 1.5 deluxe. Maybe can bargain... haha

    - if it was launched 3 months ago, i would have bought it immediately. arghhhhh..... [smallcry]
