The 120GB one is the latest model called the "slim". Sony dropped the price on that. The only difference is that you cannot run linux on it anymore and is smaller, takes less energy and is not as hot.

PS3 allows you to plug in USB mouse and keyboard. With the installation of linux, you basically have another computer.
Ps3 slim can't do that.

Rock band drum can play guitar hero (read that guitar hero drum used in rock band will be weird cause of 3 drum and 2 cymbals).

GH 5 setlist abit weird but one level tougher than GH world tour.... But its damn fun when u get ur frens to come over and play....

Can you all get the ASIA R3 version when 2010 it's out so can play together? Previously I got PES 2009 AMERICA version by mistake and can only connect to US server and everyone is lagging, and only a few people are from asia. Fifa uses worldwide server so no problem.

No worries, for me i just tell the person add extra copies of the game when i pre-order.
Now playing the be a virtual pro season. Basket, the manager keep asking me to score 2 goals and above and get at least 7.0 rating, even against teams like Chelsea and Man U. Gameplay-wise its slightly better, graphics about the same, goals are much easier to score from outside penalty box. This game really a lot of features. U can even customize your set pieces of your team during training, u can call out these set pieces when having corner or free kicks. U can chart where each player run, whether pass etc. For those who want to play online, go to gameaxis forums because they are organizing fifa10 leagues in conjunction with the EPL season now.

Linux is an Operating System (like Windows and the MacOS). With Linux install, you can use the ps3 like you would a computer. But a lot of programs are not supported by linux (especially games). On the plus side, you can even buy a wireless keyboard/mouse and use it to surf the net and so some work.

I am working in Japan right now, am thinking of buying the PS3 slim, but worried that every instruction on the PS3 when you set up will be in Japanese. I have the PSP which I bought when working in China, and it was an export set that was meant for the Japanese mkt. The PSP allowed me to change the language to English. Wondering if the PS3 would allow me to change the language to English as well?
Also, I understand that PS3 games has no region code, but all the games in Japan has Japanese words on the packaging, does it mean that the in game language and voice instructions, if any, would be in Japanese too? If so, are there any games which allows change of language to English?
Any answers would be very helpful, I can't ask anyone in the shops here coz they wouldn't understand, and can't find any English based forums for the PS3 in Japan. Thanks in advance!
I may try to see whether can adjust the language setting on the local Singapore Asian version ps3.
As for the game, 99% of the ntsc j is definitely in japanese language and it cannot change the language !!! So tt is quite a hard to look for English version game.
As i went to toyko akihabaha in the begining of the year and what i seen were all the console games are in japanese.
If u can't read and understand Japanese, Japan is never a good place to get games.
Only good if u are hardcore game collectors as u may get rare and limited edition games over there.

There are many jap games that include an option to change the language to english & there are many that don't so if you are looking for a particular game which doesn't you will just have to get the US or Euro or Asian version. Usually at the back of the game they will state if the language is changeable.

Yup i was amaze by FIFA10 gameplay. Being playing PES & WE for a long time but i think FIFA have overtaken them liao. Will take time to master the control plus computer style of play (this is soemthing i have yet figure out)

I can confirm PS3 can play AVCHD format (talking abt PS3 Fat). I have one DVD in AVCHD format that plays OK. I had also edited another video into AVCHD format and plays well too.

I have recently bought a Playstation 3. It worked ok with the video component cables on my sharp aquos (HD-ready) LCD (32").
then I bought a HDMI cable. There is a signal but the entire screen is pink, blinking and totally distorted. Tried my friend's HDMI cable - even worse, absolutely no signal. the funny thing was that my LCD was previously used successfully with a PS3 & HDMI before.
I tried everything I know, including holding the on button for a double-click sound for display reset. To no avail.
Can anyone help me think of anything or PS3/TV settings which I can try to make the HDMI cable work on my LCD?

I had a free hdmi cable that keeps blacking out after some time with my PS3... I went to get Sony HDMI cable, and it works fine.

I think your wireless router is far away from your PS3. Try putting it nearer. However, within a house, the signal should be quite ok, unless you have many walls in between.
Otherwise, get another access point. I saw in one of the IT shows that you can buy some kind of plug to hook up the LAN lines thru electrical wires....
