Is it me or is this new Harrier smaller than the Older Model ...

It is smaller as it is based on RAV4.

Ahhhh ... Sou Ka ... Thank you ...
My friend have the previous model Harrier and we placed it next to each other. The previous model body is rounder while the new is sleeker. And yes interior for the new is slightly smaller but not by much.
However handling for new is slightly better with lesser role and not as bouncy. Power for new is 10 bhp lesser due to the economy engine.

I used to own the Previous Model RX300 ...

One of the things that bothered me most was the Width of the Tires ...

Hi Bro Bingkok, just sent you message.

Just to share my experience, I did comparisonin the last 3 months on various models, considering handling, power, price, reliability, comfort, etc.

So finally I shortlist to CX5 and Harrier. I made the final decision on Harrier after having myself and my family sit in both cars. For sure the CX5 will have more "zoom", but the Harrier is not too bad. Question that I asked myself that made me decide on Harrier is how often I would "zoom" (overtake, speed) vs how often I would enjoy the comfort and the interior. So the answer is obvious. Not having zoom is good too, as it prevent me from "zoom", just got a speeding ticket for exceeding 20Km above speed limit, 6 demerit points and 150SGD. There are a lot of hidden cameras around....

Let me know if any of you want feedback and recommendation on who to buy from.

Hi Marler123,
May I know how much deposit (booking fee) is required by Volks?
Edited by LPK00, 27 October 2014 - 01:50 PM.
I understand that Harrier had this power mode and eco mode which allow on and off in front of the gear box there....
Beside FC, does the power mode make any difference when is on???
Cos currently My 2006 altis also have this button, ECT Power (Electronic Control Transmission Power), press or not, I don see any changes in performance. Not sure what is does.. Lol..
Bro Marler
Can u also pm me privately the purchase price?
Any otherfreebiesthrown in by Volks? eg solar film etc

Thanks mate

On my very first tank (ie brand new car)...purely on Eco mode....achieved 15km/l (SPC 95)
Second & third tanks (playing a bit with Eco mode on and off...achieved 13.8 km/l...suspect that the next tank will come in at 12.5km/l. A bit disappointing, but acceptable given the size of the car....any feedback re brands of petrol??

The car feels livelier with Eco mode OFF ..... of course at the expense of FC. Now, I will drive with it OFF, and only turn it on when I am cruising on highway

As for Power Mode - yes, there is a "big" difference with you turn it on ..... but this is relative!!

My only complaint is that the silly buttons are on the dash board....should have been placed in the steering wheel area

1.8ton with 150hp definitely will suffer in term of FC. If not for CVT, it will be worse.

Heck care with FC since you have already paid so much for it.
As for harrier FC, I think is quite acceptable as compare to my previous car honda fit 1.3cc FC at 11.5km/I
And current altis 1.6cc FC at 10.5-11km/litre
My brother new teanna 2.5cc FC at 10km/litre with ECO ard 13.5km/litre...
Not sure abt previous model FC. Maybe our bro may help to answer.

Depend on ur need
Whether u are always traveling alone, have a big family, always carry alot of items or what
If space is not a prob then go for A class or else harrier for practicality and low maintenance cost

It depends whether you prefer an SUV/MPV with elevated view or not, and whether you prefer an "open" boot.

The reason I decide on SUV is because of these 2 reasons. if these2 reasons does not matter to you, and if both prices are the same and you prefer a car with more presteige, you may want to consider a mercedes.
As with all vehicles, once oil change to fully synthetic engine oil, FC will improve greatly. I avg 14.5km/l per tank as the display shows.

The power mode when on, will allow driver to rev higher and longer before the transmission changes to higher gear ratios. If you would like to accelerate hard, i would suggest to tinker with it in manual mode as it provides 7 fixed gear ratios.
Anyone owners that have ordered a Tonneau Cover for the new 2014 Harrier? And like to understand if this is necessary or good-to-have. Appreciate any leads
Hi,
I ordered my Harrier with the cover free. If u want, u can check with my PI where they ordered from. Yet to take delivery of my Harrier.
Thank you to all who replied. I think I will likely choose the harrier because of its reliability and maintenance cost (comparing to Merc A180). This is not to say the A180 is not reliable.

Me too it was included in the sales package. It is important for security when you have your bags stored or expansive stuff and when you are in Malaysia.
PM me and I can share details with you.

I too was looking at the GLA before decided on the Harrier. As Harrier had all the gizmos and nice roof, most importantly space for 5 adults comfortably.
Not to mention it's long term reliability = lower maintenance cost.
I am fat so harrier will be better option for me if i were to choose between A180 and harrier

i dunno whether there's a problem with the harrier. Being put on sold too fast after being bought. Somehow the previous generation Harrier enjoyed alot more attention and sales compared to this present model

This PI is famous to post an ads in used car section for marketing purpose. Actually, the car has been just delivered to the 1st owner.
Yeah, some PIs market certain cars as used for finance issues, i dont know how and why they can do that. Remember Vincar had a white colour Elegance model for sale also listed under used vehicle? Well, i test drove that particular car and from their showroom and sales person told me it was new and the car did not have any license plate also, had to put those test drive plates when on the road. Yep, so far Vincar allowed test drive for the Harrier, although eventually i did not get from them as the sales person knows Zilch about the car, just eager to close sales.

Yup I did check and they said it was new, reason was they found that there were more viewers on the resale forum and easy to spread the news. Placing the car in used add they needed to complete how many owners so placed as 1 owner when it is new.

Oh well, I supposedifferent marketing style.

today I saw a new Harrier in pearl white, initailly I tot it's Sorento from rear view, side view nice streamlined shape, looks bigger than RX300,

I feel the Harrier is bigger than it looks. On paper it is 4720 x 1835 x 1690 (L x W x H) in mm.

The new RX350 is 4770 x 1885 x 1685
Audi Q5 without off road styling is 4629 x 1898 x 1655

If i didnt recall wrongly, it is definitely smaller than the older generation of RX. However, the specifications show it to be quite big already in comparison to these established big SUVs out on the road. However the big boys like the Cayenne, ML and Q7 are total behemoths haha

I really like the tail lights of the harrier but dont really dig the clear front grille. It doesnt make sense haha, cos i thought the grille was supposed to let air in but then i dunno why they go cover it with clear acrylic/plastic.

White Premium model with full leather, very pleasant experience with the car dealer who was on top of everything and I meant everything to tend my every nitty gritty checks and questions. Okay enough of the dealer...now about my new ride.

This is just my feedback and personal choice, not meant to flame or degrade anything or anyone.

I traded in my Mark X for this, reason was wife wanted a car with more space especially boot for easy "throw" of kids bags after child care and mother in law moving in with us next year. I was looking for cars before settling on the Harrier...GLA (I loved but did not have the space), Highlander and X Trail (did not like the interior), Forrester GT (wife did not approve).

Aesthetic
IMHO, Harrier was the nicest exterior and interior looking fierce on the outside with the LED day light, HID lights, big mouth infront and trendy new tail lights. The niceShark Fin antennacomplimented the sharp and edgy look of the design, same goes for the 2 tone wing mirrors.
The leather seats were nice with the threaded trimming and "wood" panels were more trendy then the previous Toyota type of panels, else I would have custom changed into CF (carbon fibre). Good placement of lightings where they had the internal door handle, front foot area lightedvery smoothly. However the door and cabin lights were non LED lights where I can feel the heat on the plastic cover just after 3 minutes, nothing a small visit to the 3rd party LED shop can't fix (which I did)....but was careful to select the lower wattage else it will be too bright.
Compartments were sufficient for me but a small card compartment below the steering wheel would help, I was used to this from the Mark X. However the Harrier does have more compartment than the X, and a nice touch of open compartment next to the fire wall where I place my mobile linking with the blue tooth system for calls.

Loved the aesthetic on Day 1, only major disappointment was no factory JBL system as in Japan making the center console more "expansive" looking and the fire wall was not rubber wrap and the front Hawk or Eagle, thus I had ordered the optional Modellista front grille coming in 3 weeks time.

Kids always had a smile when they sit in the car watching the opening of the sun roof!!! Although their uncles had in their car but this was a different feel, maybe cause the car is ours.

Sound system I upgraded to the lastest Pioneer Flagship DVD player...it has an interference buzzing sound with my GPS and workshop tried to rectify it with fail.... they gave me assurance that they will find a solution (even after there was additional grounding). Speakers are of decent SQ but I am not really an ICE person as I have my own HIFI system at home hee hee hee....
Steering wheel controls worked very well with phone connectivity and DVD PLayer control....no comments here.

Performance
Please note that Mark X is 215 BHP compared with Harrier 150 BHP, 6 speed transmission vs CVT respectively. Thus my comment here is trying to be as realistic as possible in a A2A comparison.
CVT Transmission is very good and I did not have an issue on "wanting" the jerk from gear chain as the X was also smooth, I was at 2,000rpm and I was AHEAD of the traffic and reaching 90kmh in Toa Payoh!!! Bare in mind I am still running the engine in and was on eco mood, the Sports mood gave more torque feel...
No, it is not equivalent to the X but it was good enough to give me the confidence in daily drive and over taking, that was my biggest worry as I could not test drive the Harrier outside the carpark. All worries addressed and I am happy, not esthetic but happy, I only wished they had the 2L engine turbo charged to satisfy by "Street Boy" side. hahaha

Fuel consumption no comment at the moment as am still on the first tank, but I would agree with our other bros / gals here on 12km/l, I could achieve 14.8km/l on TPE andgoing at 100kmh. amazing. City driving I was around 9-11km/l on the reader.

Breaking is typical Toyota, spongy feel but effective however I will be upgrading it similar to my X. The breaks worked seamlessly with the engine start stop technology, when you stop and break pedal is close to the limit the car halts but engine still running, only when you floor the break pedalthen itoff the engine followed by a slight release of the pedal brings the engine smoothly back to life....Fantastic!!! Ioffed this functionin today's early peak hourjam on expressway.

Cabin noise goes to the Harrier, even with my X having full sound proofing. Comfort is Harrier (though my X was tuned to hard drive, not a right comparison).... Harrier softer ride to the X was still good in cornering my usual drive home speed, justslight body roll but never had concern onthe car controlling me.

Wife Comments
Me: "Can you keep the RPM within 2000, need to run in"
Wife: "Stop nagging, I drive hard with the Mark X this is how I drive"
Me: "Else the engine will be noisy like my brother's 2 yrs old C class"
Wife: "Aye....we are already at 80kmh? is the meter right?"
Wife: "Wow, did not even know it"
Me in my mind "told you so", but words was "Yup the CVT is good, improved version as our older Latio"
Wife: "Told you to change to a spacious car, you still wanted the C or 3 series...."
Me interpretation of this reply is she is very happy with the car....

congrat your new ride,
I neticed your postive comment for CVT, previously concern NA2.0L + CVT + 1.6ton bodyweight, underpower should be an issue, read your review, seems it's not worry too much
Hi am looking to buy Harrier from pi too. But not so sure which pi is reliable and don't wanna put my money and time in the wrong basket.
Can you guys share how you know a pi is reliable?
I only know of Vincar and Richburg, can share others?

Some other P.I carrier may be slightly affordable not not cheaper ( many Optional item not included ), s go wif the flow, if you're 1st timer and game to find more on Harrier, i suggest you go with a senior friend or family members, more head is better than 1.

Richburg may be in the market for a while, so their image and reputation is reliable, VIncar is truing hard to please and accommodating, so U may do your due diligence.

1/ Know what you want ( most Important ) and not some1 suggesting you this/ that

2/ Know your budget and limitation. Do not be swayed by Salesman into paying more . . .

3/ Determine the after sales service, contract and write down all item/s given or order in black and white.

4/ Never book at 1st glance, come back more often, or check out third or fourth P.I, it is always a better bargain.

Happy shopping !!
Bro,
collecting mine in Dec so you can take a look.

good choice
find the styling "better" than RX, and the lights "wow".
Probably Toyota learn from harrier to design the NX.
Bro buckey, I tried to PM u. But don know why cant send. Anyway I just booked my harrier. Got recommend by bro marler123. Sales person is nice and give me a good price for my trade in car
Bro, can share from which PI?
Hi Bro,
I got it from Volks Auto. I booked mine about a month ago, and recommended Bro Bingkok. I offer to view mine when I get it in Dec, but I guess it's difficult to wait once you have view it, right bro Bingkok :). I will share more once I get mine.

Anyway, let me know if you want more details.

I tuned my expectation when getting the harrier, so was please with the engine performance as most important to me was the overtaking or lane changing confidence which the Harrier did give me.
It is not comparable with the Mark X for sure but then again we will not be comparing fairly.
Hope this helps.
I saw this new harrier yesterday.

The previous model 2.4L gives 155bhp compared with now 2.0L gives 150bhp. 5bhp not much difference as the torque is also almost the same.
My friend has the previous model and will drive his soon to see the difference.
The Xtrail with 2 litre turbo gives 150bhp. Compared with the toyota on specs which do we think is better engineering?
No doubt if the Harrier comes with 2.5L V6 210BHP like the mark x it would have been great. Or Toyota turbo charge this 2.0L engine will be so so sweet.
i think turbo will be introduced for toyota soon.

displacement is really no longer that indicative. even jaguar XJ has a 2.0L model. ford mondeo has a 1.0L model.
It was reported that the turbo is developed and produce by toyota themselevse so that they can control the quality. Lets see.

think pros n cons lor..will not appeal to the conservative camps because they will always have teh mentality turbo is unrealible. but thios will appeal to the newer generation who prefer a faster moving car.
Turbo is the trend now. The low end torque is hard to resist. I believe they will not do something to tarnish their rep for reliability. Cooling is key for turbo.

Japanese automakers didn't invest too much on TC for family models, except Subaru,It was reported that the turbo is developed and produce by toyota themselevse so that they can control the quality. Lets see.
So don't expect 1st batch TC got good reliability.

It is not Jap did not invest. The end game for both Jap & European car maker is Electric car.

From now to the end game:
Jap: Hybrid
European: Turbo

That's why Lexus has a huge gap in Europe as compared to European car makers.

White Premium model with full leather, very pleasant experience with the car dealer who was on top of everything and I meant everything to tend my every nitty gritty checks and questions. Okay enough of the dealer...now about my new ride.

Bro. What do you place in your car for a kid??? Haha.
My case is wife goes to gym often so we kids and wife bags and mine it is crazy!!!
But space was not all the issue for a change to Harrier. It was the full package compared with other Japanese SUV that made me come to this conclusion.
Just send you a message.

Mark X is already such a big car with a reasonable sized boot, and yet you face problem with space with only 1 kid? Maybe you should look into what you really need to tow along instead of buying a more spacious car.

Ok, I think you just want to buy new car, if so, do it.

Frankly only the stroller itself already occupied more than half of the boot space. If place in some bags when back to Malaysia then will hard to take out the stroller and bags. My wife also keep nag me on the boot space. Anyway will still consider whether want to change or not with the high COE right now.

Boot space and elevated view aredefinitely reasonswhy you want an SUV. Stroller can be put upright in SUV but not Saloon.

Then why you choose Harrier (over CX5, etc) will be the comfort, feel, reliability, etc.
Overtaking is not just about engine but skill, timing. It should not be a key reason, unless you are always overtaking. Then buy Forrester, which will give you turbo plus cheaper, and nothing else close to Harrier. Or you spend 50Ksgd more on XC60.

There is never a right time to buy but thecomfort levelto buy within means.

Forester is a good car too. My wife did not like the brand and look thus did not get it. Also if you looking at fuel economy then Harrier is the choice.
Agree there is never a right time to change a car, what is within your means and try not to look back. Like buying the latest computer and next week a better model is launched. Haha. Of course price is a different comparison.

highly doubt Harrier FC 16km/L

I believe Forester insurance will be much higher than the Harrier since it is turbo.
Plus Subaru car are always = to ah beng car
I had seen many Forester on the road modified with loud exhaust...
highly doubt Harrier FC 16km/L
Wait for our bro marler123 got his car next mth u will know the FC.
Anyway if the FC is around 11km. I am happy Liao.
Basically why Harrier beat the rest of the category, simply due to parts availability, resale value and FC was more than expected.

Badge aside, S'p and Mal motorists preferred Toyo brand -One word is reliability and easy to service and maintance was light on pocket. That sum up why most who are looking for SUV will be the ' Harrier ' plus past models many still owning and records are pretty acceptable. as family car when travelling up north 4 short holiday.
To be fair, there will be some who want power more than anything else, so Forrester will be the obvious choice if the price is also important. The Sportage (packed with many features as standard)and CX5 are both rather sexy looking, these these could be your choice if looks matter most.

I have all the brochures of these cars, and I am fixed to getting the CX5, but somehow I was still waiting for the COE to come down so did not make the final move.

One day, I decided to bring my family to look at the Harrier and CX5. Before this day, I have not seen a Harrier, as I have the same opinion like most people, that is PIs are not reliable and PI cars does not have the warranty like authorized distributor.

1st stop was the Harrier. When we sat in the Harrier, my wife comment: "wow, this is nice, and luxurious (its a full leather option), and the seat is really comfortable, The auto tailgate is nice, I don't have to use strength to close the tailgate...blah blah...But it's a little long hor..."

Next stop CX5. my wife goes "......". and when we left the place, she said "I don't remember that the last time we sit in CX5, the interior gave me a ok feeling...maybe we went to see the Harrier first, and gave a different benchmark". Yes, we did see the CX5 a few weeks earlier when I have more or less fixed on getting the CX5.

So once again, a few reasons why I choose the Harrier
1. Its interior is nice and comfortable (my Japanese colleague told me that Harrier is sold as Luxury model in Japan)
2. The realiability of Toyota (I am currently driving a Rav 4, no issue at all, while I hear plenty of stories of other brands, like my colleague mercedes could not start one day, my sister-in-law had basically change a lot of parts for her Honda, my colleague VW lights went haywired...)
3. It's rather sexy looking with good features, like the paranomic roof as standard..(I still like the look of CX5 best, but I guess outter look is short term, while internal beauty last ;) ).

My only complain is the Harrier is much longer than my Rav4 (about 30cm).

So a week after we see Harrier, I booked my new ride, even though the COE remains at around 72K. That did not happen when I was "fixed on getting the CX5" a few weeks earlier. :)

So I will wait till I get my car, then I will comment more about my view of PIs (at least the PI I bought my Harrier from).

highly doubt Harrier FC 16km/L
If you look at previous posts some of us managed 12 plus km/l. I am now on my 2nd tank and the first I did manage 12.6km/l mainly on city drive. That is impressive fuel savings. When I drive on expressway the meter read t max 17.8km/l for some time but average will be around 14km/l.
Let me run it through 1000km and once the first oil change there should be some difference too. Will update again.
Highway driving was good, ride felt grounded and stable. Although I reached 110kmh only as am still running in.
With the previous days of rain, aqua plating was never an issue and was smiling to myself that if there is a flash flood I am not too worried, but best to avoid at all course else chassis need to re - grease. Haha.
My booking was with COE at 70k, PI gave the car to me with 72k. This was nice of them although we can roughly know how much their profit. Still I was very happy with their promise in 1 bid and delivery within 1 month.
Nice looks. Seeing more & more on the road.
Basically why Harrier beat the rest of the category, simply due to parts availability, resale value and FC was more than expected.

I test drove the previous Qashqai which had obvious body role and sluggish CVT, not sure how the new model rides. This will not be a good comparison as it should be benchmarked with the new X Trail. $ to $ and class to class comparison.

Yes Mark X is RWD, comparing with the pick up X wins hands down due to the engine performance but Harrier 2.0L gives me the confident in lane switching which is most important. Cornering is equally as confident as the X as I make the same speed corner and it was amazing for a SUV of this size.

PI was Autolink, as for pricing it is stated as their advert but they do include some freebies.
I trust Toyota is very reliable but availability of the parts no problem?
To feel how the harrier drives is the test drive the RAV4 which sharing the same platform?
Post some pics share share with us. :)
Thanks for the round up... haha

Mark X got much lower CG. I am surprise you are ok with Harrier lane changing and cornering. Good!

I too was surprised that the handling and cornering feel was ok compared with my X which I had some add ons.
I test drove my friend previous harrier model and the new had sharper steering response with less body roll. Acceleration the old was slightly torque but not something to be missed as the new harrier pick up was close to it.
Tried the Cruise control today and it works smoothly and simple to operate. Just that the speed is not reflected digitally taking reference to the speedo.
Good point about comparing with the RAV4. I have not done that.
Pictures will come once I change my option grille k. Wait for it. Haha

Not very fair to my PI to post the full deal as other PI will then know.
I can only share that I am using Pioneer 8650 player, their flagship with Galactico GPS. Full leather with driver memory seat and electric passenger seat. No sonar system leh. Warranty is 3+2 years. Auto High Beam.
How about yours?

Neither can I wait for it to arrive. Haha. I initially had my wife agreement for body kit then last minute decided to wait and try the car first before deciding on the body kit. Later the added weight slows the car down hahaha
Today was an eye opener to me. Was at Taka car park and a guy came and ask me about our ride, what model is this? Very nice!!! How much??? Reasonably priced!!!
Can I see inside??? Wow!!!
Is PI reliable??? Can you give me their contact!!!
Was at a car wash in Serangoon Gardens and another guy asked me the similar questions. Only his answer was different for the interior
Can I see inside??? Very nice Full leather.
Can I have your dealer name card???
Haha so so funny but nice that we are more confident!!! (Citizen)
One thing about the car that did not go so well was when I was driving down slope on Taka car oak, the car vibrated a lot when I was driving a little fast and breaking harder than usual. Could it be the ABS? When I drove slightly slower and break lighter it was fine. Any of our mates experience this?
Has anyone installed front strut bar? If so do share where you got it as I would like to install one.
Thanks!

Same bro :).
I was suppose to get the 5550, but my PI called later to inform it will upgrade to 8650. Sweet.
Seems like full leather with driver adjust seats has become the standard.
Question become whose price is more attractive.
Did you install the camera?
Can someone share with me when you switch on your headlight when it is dark, which one do you use? And what is "Auto"? I was used the 3rd mode yesterday whereby you could see a "oo" on the display panel. I hope that is not high beam. Thank you.
Same bro :).

Haha. Nice. Question for you bro is does your 8650 connect to a third party GPS and what brand? Mine having some interference sound. Do you have that issue?
My PI is trouble shooting it in house at the moment.
I got my PI to bring over my Black Vue over from previous ride.
hisknight
driver memory seat meaning u can set the profile for each driver then just select the profile, instead of manually adjusting the height, position each time u change driver? Wow that is good. Mine only has driver set electronic height/position adjustment, no memory.

How much did u top up to get the memory seat?

Edited by Geneviean, 29 November 2014 - 10:28 PM.
My passenger seat is electronic adjustment too but no memory function.
I went for the Premium Full Leather package which is suppose to be the top specs in Singapore. Not many PI carries that.

For premium, there are a few possible option to add-on. I believe jdm only bringing either the standard and fill leather.
If if hv the full leather, the memory seat adjustment comes together
The other options are
- "radar" cruise control with sonar
- Jbl sound system
- cold weather model.
- Add ac at booth.
PL will give leather option but at what price.

Great. One solution for me is for them to change brand. Thanks.
I saw this sense just behind the grille. Wonder is this is the sonar sensor. Will give it a try tonight in KPE.

Does any of your mates here bought their car with Sonar Cruise control, your steering wheel will have the the button controller?
2. It's on the "cruise control" controller. Ask Google, and itvwill show u exactly where.
1. Ask the PL is it included since its an option
2. It's on the "cruise control" controller. Ask Google, and itvwill show u exactly where.
Not included just double confirm with PI and also check on the meter display. If it has sonar the cruise symbol will have a car at left top of the "timer".
Anyone has this option in their car?
Mine do come with the LDA more for the lane alert. Tried it today and it was interesting. When car is very gradually drifting near the side kerb there will be beeps and the lane display will blink. If abruptly swerve toward the kerb it will beep and your steering will counter steer automatically.
This is different from my friend BM 3 series where it will beep and steering will vibrate but not counter steer.
Wow!!! Amazing Toyota!
Sharing another point here. Recommended tyre pressure for 18" is 240kpa, I tried 255kpa and found the tyre vibration is transmitted to the car rather high. Weird that this is the case as my previous ride I had 270kpa for almost the same tyre size and did not have this issue, then again I am comparing Continental / Michelin tyres with our Bridgestone. Haha.
I will try 240kpa tomorrow. Me just itchy backside!!! Haha
Hi Guys, bought the maintenance DVD for our new harrier, which teaches you how to dismantle front, rear bumpers, change the lights etc etc. For the benefits of all owners of the new harrier, PM me and i will "lend" you the DVD. It's in Japanese, of course, but video walk-through is crystal clear. Was able to do my own sound proofing on the doors myself after watching the DVD.

Mine haven arrive from sushi island. I did manage to see the difference from 1 of the PI in turf club.
Yes. You are right. I remember there is an additional button at the steering wheel there. Do your have it ???
I am very excited and looking forward to own this car. Especially i just come back from Malaysia. Travel back 600km with my exisitng Altis. Now my Altis overtaking and uphill no power with 3 ppl behinds and lugguges. Everytime had press the overdrive button. Also my aunt just bought toureg in white too. Same loke my harrier. I drove it around the market area. The feeling is great. Clear front view from the driver side.

Any idea add on jbl sound system is roughly how much?
Why would you want to get JBL sound system? From the specs, the sound will be very sucky. There is only one amp for all speakers and the sub. Money better-spent on other audio equipment if you want better audio quality.

saw on youtube that the jbl sound system in japan harrier looks more integrated and neater on the dashboard so i thought it can be ordered.
I did a concealed 13" subwoofer beneath the rear boot panel and the audio quality is great. Here is a pic of the JBL system. Look at the speakers and you will be turned off to spend money on it. IMO, it looks exactly like the stock speakers i got rid of.

I need some advice.
I currently own a Jun 2008 civic with omv $21087.
Am looking to upgrade to a harrier grande or elegance.
I calculated my civic depreciation as 43500(est trade in price) minus 21087 divided by 3.5years
Worked out to $6400/yr.
How much would be the depreciation per year for harrier?
I do not want to fork out more than 15k for the 3.5 yrs of depreciation.
Paying full the balance if deal works out.
Would I be able to get a deal now or do I have to wait for COE to drop?
Please advice

Here is my 2 cents:

I can share with you is the car price is around $152K and its OMV is around 28K(??). Based on simple calculation, the depreciation for Harrier comes close to 13-14K per year. Singaporeans are a bunch of irrational buyers when comes to buying car. It is also hard to predict the trend of COE. If I were you, drive all the way till 10 yrs?

May I know how the stock speakers looked like? Were they JBL too? May I ask what did you changed to? Thought of changing out the front to component speakers too.
Thanks for sharing.
The wisest choice would be to drive your civic for 10 years, that would be the greatest deal you can currently enjoy as it is hard to predict the price of COE accurately on top of MAS changing regulations. Right now, you ask around all forums from mcf to hwz, every tom, dick and harry waiting for 2015 to change new car, what drop can one expect? When MAS introduced the 50% down and max 5 years loan, everyone thought price would nosedive, but that was also when COE neared 100k. My advice is save up enough money and when you think you can afford, buy it, enjoy it and don't look back. Life's too short for regret on such stuffs.

They were factory-fitted toyota speakers, paper cone with foam surrounding the edges looks exactly like the pic of the jbl set. I changed the speakers to Morel tempo 6. You can take out the door panels to see exactly how they look like. IMO, earlier change and earlier enjoy better audio quality the better. Most of our Harriers come with the top end Alpine or Pioneer Head Units, really a waste to output to such nonsense speakers.

If want to change what model recommended ??? Not asking for solid quality. Mid range Acceptable can liao... What is the damage abt???

Haha. Very good point.
I am looking around to upgrade my sound system if year end bonus is ok.
I recently did wheel arch insulation and it was amazing. Road noise was reduced more and car going over man hole covers or normal road bumps with a firm Thud sound. Haha. Doing my fire wall tomorrow!!!
No use to recommend any specific brand imo, make a trip to any reputable audio shop and hear the demo. Bring along a CD u like to hear.. sound quality is very very subjective.... Do not bring MP3 to test, uncompressed audio format is best..

Once changed, and you see the speaker they took out, you will know any change is better than the stock ones..

Did the fire wall and floor today. Left out the boot and doors. Slowly do to know the difference, as some of our Bros recommendation is correct on not trying to make it dead quite.
With the chassis and fire wall, sound was reduced further and floor vibration over rough road like some section of PIE was reduced drastically.
Even installer said it is now very quite and great improvement. No need to do door unless I start going into ICE.
They were very helpful as they solved my GPS and Head Unit buzzing sound. They went through proper channel by contacting the GPS vendor and troubleshooting it at NO extra cost.
Please note that original car is already quite, I am just itchy and now have a contented heart. Haha.

I am looking at either Micro Precision speaker or Focal with Mosconi amp. Problem now is no place for amp as I have a spare tyre which PI gave as standard.
Next problem is the setup I am looking at is $$$ so must wait to strike 4D. Haha

The VITAS takes a long time as they have long waiting list. Normally upon receipt of application they take around 4 to 7 weeks to pass the vehicle. Then another 4 day for dealer to finalise the documents.
Hope VITAS is faster now.

More than enough space, the amp are not those compact-sized ones. Heat not an issue, nowadays all these amps have very high temp threshold.. Cut? Cut simi?

I did partial fire wall as I did not want them to remove the full dashboard. So they did slightly more than than half up, center console removed, front and rear seats for the entire flooring. Stop short at the boot as I wanted to slowly hear the difference and do I need to do more? To me no...fire wall, floor and wheel arch made loads of difference and am happy with it.
Price for partial fire wall and floor was shy of 1k. Using STP!

Anyone changed to nice rims?
I can't remember there is space below the rear seats. Do u remove the seats to install? Thanks
Depends if yours has electrical seats.... If yes only a small 2 channel amp can be fitted below the front seats but it will be tight.
If not electrical seats than have plenty of space.
I am still looking at where to place a 4 channel amp as the last place is the boot, spare tyre area.
Anyone has other suggestion?
I can't remember there is space below the rear seats. Do u remove the seats to install? Thanks

There is a big space under the rear seat. Pop up the cushion and the whole area can fit in 2 amps and a capacitor and still have space to spare. Planning to install a Digital TV receiver inside too, soon. There is nothing installed under the front seats, so rain water or any spills wont get to it and doesn't matter whether you have electric seats or not.

Thanks!

Interesting. Thanks for sharing it.
That means your amp, capacitors are below the rear steel chair structure?
confused.

the more I read up, the more I am confused. Speaker got differential by component and Coaxial speaker.
then don know need AMP or woofer or not...

Now I just wait for the car to arrive first and test the sound quality see whether I am able to accept or not.

Bro Marler123, have u got any update on your new wife ETA?
Bro, there are too many brands and models for you to consider. SQ is subjective. Depends how deep is your pocket. Since you already for a pioneer or alpine HU then maybe spend another $1.2 to 1.5k to buy some speakers, amp, subwoofer and cabling will do.
Just suggesting, a 2 ways component speakers for the front, a 4 channels amp to drive it. A subwoofer and a 2 channels amp to drive it. For rear speakers, it's less important for driver. A 6 x 9 speakers in you wan. If your HU is pioneer, can spend another $800 to buy a processor to do time alignment. Sound proofing, you can do the 2 front doors since you installing the front speakers. You also can slowly upgrade to feel the different and enjoyment.
Reputable Installer there are many, I used to go chuan sing at serangoon garden.
There is really no ending if you are into ICE. I have frens changing his system regularly. For me, once I happy with it then will not spend unnecessary money.
Cheers!
My pockets no as deep as you might think. I understand from my friends. This is an expensive hobby.
My budget is ard less than 500. If more than that i probably will just stick to it stock speakers.
Sound proof if the road noise is terrible then probably will do it. But base on other bro posted review. The noise is quite low.
When I did it, my wife who came back from overseas felt the difference and asked what I did to the car. Haha. Thought I could hide from her.
Yup. Road noise is already low with the original condition. So depends if you itchy like me. Haha

If wife can feel the difference, it's money well spent. ;)
If chin chai do then in the end you may spend more money to redo. Enjoy the ride first.
Hahaha... Bro thank for your advices.

Yeah bro, its all hidden beneath the rear (behind) passengers' seats. Nothing in the front, all controlled by the HU.

IMHO, spend abit on upgrading the speakers and add a amp first is a must. $500 can go a long way if you know the right things to buy (some 2nd-hand stuffs are good value), for a start. Save on sound proofing as the car is already well insulated and i don't think anyone drives the car around with the car audio totally switched off. A set of good speakers turned up loud enough and playing your favourite tunes is not only relaxing, but also can drown out any road noise etc etc..

No worries.

Agree!!! Better save up and do one that you like else will always be thinking about it and end up spending more money and time at the workshop.
my brother sat in my car today and first thing was Wow! So comfortable and quite. He is driving a car that is twice our ride, not to mention it here else get flamed!!!
Agree with Mazdaseller on his pointer. As for me I bought this car expecting great comfort so I focused on that as my priority.
Music SQ was third.
Second to me is stiffen the ride and better breaks. This is me focus for new year project.

Jus curious any harrier buyer ever consider the new Nissan Qashqai before deciding on this car?
I almost bought the x-trial bec they were at abt the same price.
However, this qashqai really looks muscular and nice.
I never like nissan because of the impression from Nissan Sunny. High FC, low power. But i did went to showroom to look at this car. Wasnt convince by the look.

I have been driving sedan for 10 over years. If I wanna change to SUV, this harrier and the new Qashqai would be my 2 choices.

Yes, I was also attracted by looks initially, which is cx5. I saw the new qashlar, very nice too.
But in the end depends on whether inner beauty or outer is more important.
What do you drive now, and what u like and dislike?

Hi, I booked mine without COE months ago which was a mistake considering the COE prices keep going up....sigh

X Trail is also a goo car, agree that Harrier is nicer outside and in.

If harrier has DRL would be best.
Why did Toyota miss that out is a good question. Even Altis has it.
Another item would be good to have is the retractable windows screens.
What is DLR????
Day running light. It's white led lights. Harrier should really have it. Maybe they ??? for the FL version. lol
The Harrier's DRL is the LED fog lamp, put it to on and auto headlamp it will always turn on when engine starts and off when engine off. DRL is just a term for vehicles to increase visibility during daylight. It doesn't need to follow a specific form.
Wow. Thanks for sharing, I will try it tomorrow in the day time.

Harrier top trim at least 173k+ also curious anyone consider Murano at 180k or even the 2015 Murano?
Isn't this the DRL mode?
If I not wrong these are the pole light only. U need to manually turn it on.

Yes I did. Prefer the Harrier design and seat comfort. Both brands are very reliable so depend on what you like.
I got my premium full leather package at lower price then again was before COE went yo by 4 k plus.

If BM bring it in then sure got much more buyers. Cos many ppl still dun feel comfortable to buy from PI and buy without test drive. But BM price could be at least $10 k higher.
Like some say the car is heavy but with 2.0L CVT is not good. It would be best if personally test drive before buy.

My source tells me BM won't bring in. I sat in the Harrier at CarTimes, no test drive. Wow what a wonderful experience. Almost a month & I still can't get over it. Seriously considering as my replacement car next year.
Only concern is the Jap wordings displaying on dashboard / HU. Not sure other bro facing any problem?

They won't bring in. If not, they would hv done so years back. At least till the next generation.
Oh yes, I bookED a week after sitting in a harrier, while it took me 2 months earlier to decide on CX5.

I was suppose to get the 5550, but my PI called later to inform it will upgrade to 8650. Sweet.
Seems like full leather with driver adjust seats has become the standard.
Question become whose price is more attractive.
Did you install the camera?
Bro
Can share the quality of the 8650 and 5550. PI said that everything same only 8650 got GPS and bigger screen.
Does the controls on the steering work? eg volume up down etc
The difference I can't remember exactly, but definitely not what your pi told you. I believe the differences include additional connection options, connection to more mobile phone devices by usb, and for 6 instead of 5, there is dual zone. Check www.pioneer.com.sg for more detailsBro

Hello, the harrier premium deal i got is half fabric half synthetic leather seats. But got electric seat adjust... my stereo is pioneer 2650. interesting different PI different configurations. There is this sonar thing can't remember what is it for. I also find it wierd that model out for a year liao, seldom see on road.
Sorry, with full leather, it allows more axis of electric adjustment and memory seat.
Every pi is different. Some give best price straight to everyone, some negotiate to get the best out of each person... I will share my view further after I get my car

Both GPS will be external module hidden behind the glove compartment.
Not sure the full difference but always go for the newer model. Haha
Steering control works for any model, depend on how the PI workshop install it.

Congratulations. Yes the engine and CVT is smooth smooth smooth.
Remember to run in your engine. Once change oil after first servicing the engine is slightly smoother and rev is easier.
Quick question for those driving this new toy.

Is the CVT 'elastic' at highway cruising speeds? e.g. if you are cruising at 2k and 90 kph, you press the accelerator a bit more does the rev jump up? Or likewise, if you foot off to cruise on momentum, does the rev drop to idling?

I used to drive a Nissan with first generation CVT. So I understand what you mean which happens during that time where Audi CVT was chain and noisy but with no slip.
With this new generation CVT in the harrier. When I keep it at around 2000 to 2200rpm the speedo will keep climbing gradually but rather "fast".
When at 90 kmh, my rpm is around 1400 to 1600. To overtake I go around 2500rpm and the cars kmh increases confidently and comfortably without slip.
So far I have not slam to 4000 rpm as am on 1500 clicks. Done my first oil change and engine is raving easier.
Do not expect rocket launch like conventional gear box (200 bhp car) but I find the speed increase is very good for a big body car with 2 litre engine.
In summary, the new CVT is improved tremendously and I do not feel any slip when I rev to 2800 rpm and engine noise is not gasping or struggling.
Went to view yesterday. The exterior n interior really impress me. But think about to folk out another 50+k cash really heart pain. Haiz..
That is what Our garment want to us to feel....
Went to view yesterday. The exterior n interior really impress me. But think about to folk out another 50+k cash really heart pain. Haiz..
Very painful indeed. I was in the same shoe.
If you look at in 2 years time if COE drops to 45 to 50 k, your present car price will also drop by 20 plus k and you still need to fork out the same 50 k later as now.
Ok maybe slightly lesser by 2 to 3 k. So I bite the bullet at do it now. Sell high buy high concept. Savings will come with lesser interest payment relating with lower monthly.
Of course if COE drops more than a gain for you.

Anyone bought from Volks?
Bro Marler123 bought from them. Hope he took delivery before shite hits the fan.
That being said, how come there's no regulatory body to oversees car dealers in Spore? Is it under SVTA's jurisdiction?
Below is the exact process how i got to purchase my Harrier, if any steps missing or skipped, might wanna chekc with your PI/ sales person.

1) 10k deposit for COE on booking day. ( I insisted to pay by credit card, some might not allow)
2) Sales person arranged for loan approval on same day (all documents, income tax or CPF etc)
3) Finance company (Hong Leong) called on the same day to confirm that a request for initial loan approval was made thru PI
4) A copy of the Usual sales agreement with all details, with company chop, sales person's signature and one higher-up's signature and name. Took both name cards
5) A "menu" of insurance company to select from, detailing the price and add-on for panoramic roof, decision to be made upon loan approval / car collection

Nothing more was paid.. I checked the COE bidding process with my name and IC number. but it wasn't on the system the whole process right up to the week before my car collection date, reason being that the PI bidded already previous weeks and have on hand some COEs Cat "E" and if need to, they will transfer the COE instead of bidding for you and in any case, the COE is 1 bid guaranteed. When taking over the car, sales person will explain and ask you to sign the "taking over"" of the CAT E form, this was made known to me that there is a chance that PI will transfer a CAT E COE and need your signature to agree.

Hope i have helped....

Anyone with the new Harrier fitted with full Modellista kits?

New Harrier has :

*  Beautiful dashboard.

* Economy compared to the previous Harrier 2.4 .

* "Smart Car" with lots of safety features.

* Lots of accessories to dress it up.........etc

So what if its a Harrier or a Lexus? Its the Japanese who share same design and owners just wanna change the emblems. Nothing

wrong with it.

Now with the 2 companies producing different designs of SUV so cant change the emblem. Lexus is out with NX models, and they

totally look different from the new Harrier.

Customized it the way you like it. All cars comes with many brands of body kits. Just do it with taste and the cars will stands out.

Welcome on board!!! The good news for you is your car us at the port. Challenge is port clearance very slow so my PI is going there personally to collect the grille first while their Harriers are stuck for clearance.
If they clear by early Jan you should be able to get your car before CNY. YEAH!!!
Which option did you go with?
I went with Premium, not full leather though.
Went for Chocolate brown, so my PI told me will arrive by mid- January
So there is a high chance of late delivery

Went with this PI as I knew him since college days so risk of non- performance should be mitigated

Would love to see you actual colour.
Comforting to know you went with a PI you know.
I too hooted white harrier premium. Should be collecting before X'Mas....tomorrow is COE bidding.. was told since guaranteed.. it is a non event for me.. :P

Hi all

Looks great, bro!
Is the installation straight-forward? thinking of getting a grill and self-install, but the wiring could be difficult? The light is connected to position light? What if light is at auto position?
Installation straight forward. Can be self done. If come with all the instruction 11 steps and wiring. Plug and play thing with some fixtures taking from existing grille.
Let me try the auto and see how. But I am getting my installer to
do a bypass switch. I had ordered the original push button switch from Japan through a friend and have 1 or 2 spare n if you keen.
This is one ofmy list of potential new cars when I want to change in 2015.

Anyone can recommend a good PI? Is there one where I can at least test drive it? (can PM me if you want, thanks).

I refuse to buy any car without driving it before. It is only in SG that car dealers can get away with this nonsense of no test drive.
Wa so many coming in then BM may have 2nd thought
BM will never bring in Harrier.

The reason :

Same or similiar with Rav4, same engine set up, same wheelbase samiliar OMV.

Since Harrier has a much better interior, then it will direct crash the Rav4 market.

Go to surf Japan's Toyota website and you will find in Japan they still selling the old Rav4.
If they start selling the latest Rav4, either new Rav4 can't sell or crash the market of Harrier (Rav4 is cheaper).

OK new Lexus NX is also base on the new Rav4 & Harrier, but at least the engine set up is different, either turbo or hybird and the interior is even better than Harrier. Lexus is target another tier of customers, therefore no worry to crash each others' market share.

Just my one cent.

I would like to seek feedback from the car owner of the feel for the chassis. Is Harrier Chassis soft?

I read that Harrier is based on Rav4 and the review is that Rav4's chassis is soft. I test drove the latest Altis and felt that the Chassis was soft too. Maybe Toyota's Chassis is generally soft?

No idea man. Thus doing a bypass switch. Haha. No worries lah.
Soft??? I only know flex or stiff. Haha.
It is a SUV so there will be certain amount of flex. If you want stiff then add struts and under brace. Even standard lexus comes with under brace.

Wow this would be excellent. But are you buying from the exporter or you have to then connect the local PI and this exporter?

I am new to this, how does this exporter and PI thing work out?

One of the reason I ended up not buying my current car model from PI (I wanted manual, local AD only auto) was that the damn dashboard was all Japanese.
It is not up to BM to decide. The decision lies with TMAP.
Since importer is tmap, does it mean premium model is all the same from any PI?
I think once witch to driving suv, can forget abt cornering....high center gravity...later end turtle up like the suv at orchard last year. Think he was turning into orchard rd from scotts rd.

If really can then most likely connect the local PI cos I'm new to this. I will also explore how ppl ship their car out modify and ship back. Still a long shot from here but no harm checking.
Mind you, Harrier is not for this market. No official importer for Harrier.Since importer is tmap, does it mean premium model is all the same from any PI?

On cornering, SUV not necessary bad. Look at Cayenne, X5 or X6.
BMW had not equipped with spare tyre for many years (model) already.
If you worry just use run flat tyre.. for your Harrier.
Agree. Was not me worried about no spare tyre. Mine came included as I go JB once every 2 months. Even so do not really need spare tyre as I know some tyre workshop there.
Now most cars come with air pump to replace the spare tyres for minor puncture.

Can learn a few jap words for driving lor.. shouldn't be tough. Especially men since young already into jap culture amd movie industry. Lol
Gotten my ride. PI is cartimes. No hanky panky and everything was delivered as promised and also the delivery date. All in...took about 2 weeks only. Feel better and safer to order ex-stock.

A couple of questions for owners,

1. Where is card holder? Usually is right hand side... but Harrier no have leh.. unless put at the center console where it was for drink?
2. Any user manual in English? I have the Jap version... wahahahaha
3. I understand the height of the auto tail gate can be programmed to a certain height and it will remember. Just now was testing it with the SE. But now i want to reset so that it goes the full height.

Other things potential buyer may want to know:

1. Smooth acceleration but no feeling of Torque or the pull. Just gradual acceleration. I didn't floor accelerator since running in.
2. I am surprise the cornering is pretty smooth.
3. The Jap version of the console doesn't bother me since it comes with icons which can easily make out what it means.

on resetting, see manual page 95. Press and hold 7 seconds, then buzzer sound 2 times to indicate that it has been reset to initial setting.
Else use the power and it revs to 4000 rather fast.
If you want but more power. Use the steering right button and navigate to Settings. Scroll down to Economy and select off. Your engine will be on normal mood and have smoother rev and surge.

Thanks guys for the tips. Great drive. So many features to meddle with. lol I tried the lane warning, the steering wheel resisted, very interesting.

The anti skid on the right hand side... how come it is "Off" ah? How to on it?

During run-in, no high rev no high speed until 10k km? That's a torture.

Those extra tevhnology quite interesting. If budget allows, go premium and dun look back.
Another factor is, i went for ready stock. Not willing to place deposit and wait for months with PI.

What's the difference between the Eco mode from the navigation >>> settings and the Eco mode on the center console where we could turn on/off smart stop and the Power button.

i still on the breaking in stage, so haven't try the power mode. i 2 days clock 100 km only.. looks like need to go round Singapore during the next few days and quickly break-in otherwise drive like a slow coach. LOL
Looking forward to my new nippon ride in Jan.

Firstly, I can help you run in. Within 2 week I reach 1k. Haha.
When you press ECO mood, it really is ECO where it is really for slow slow drive and super save fuel but car picks up slowly and I really mean slowly.
Off the ECO mood it is on Normal mood thus your dashboard display does not have the ECO lighted at the top. Will take a picture to show you if you need. Then as I mentioned with the button on the steering to Settings, you can select ECO on or off! Acceleration is faster and computer tracks your ECO range with a green ECO sign on your RPM meter. Easy rev to 2500.
If you off, rev is faster and computer does not track ECO. Go give it a try once you reach 1000 km and you will know the difference.
Have fun.

Things in premium are nice to have. Less the auto gate, I don't use the rest at all, hence reluctant to spend the additional amount. Still wondering if I shld make the jump. Thanks
What's the typical price difference between Elegance & Premium? If high like 10k - then may not justify.

First time use auto gate very shiok.... 3 days later i start to find waiting for it to close abit waste time lol.
I got 18" bridgestone tyres, how abt the rest? Funny i saw dunlop in showroom but end up get bridgestone which supposingly is better brand right?
For the front sensor, do u guys switch it off too? Very fan too hear the beep beep beep.
I like the cruise control and the lane change sensor.

yeah. but some PI carry the elegance with no wood trimmings, while some PI has.

Premium definitely has wood trimmings.

perhaps you can choose between elegance (with moonroof) vs premium, then the difference is 7k, which you may then be willing to top up.

one thing i dont understand is the color. some PI state that pearl white/black need to top up 1k, while others say dont need.
Mine is a premium model but it doesn't seems to have the car alarm. Based on the user manual, the alarm should sound when I open the door without remote control with me, but it doesn't. How I test it was I stayed inside the rear seat and get someone else to arm the car, then I opened the door from inside, but it doesn't sound.....

Strange thing is all my windows has this Toyota Alarm sticker on it...?
Anyone of you tested out on the harrier alarm system?

agree. I find it time wasting. I find that I tend to open it in advance using remote control before I reach the car.

For the car alarm, i tested and it is working. Very loud i have to dash and grab the remote to turn it off! Because i did it in multistorey carpark... so this is a warning for those who want to conduct the test.

1. Unwind driver side window. Infact any window is fine.
2. Lock the car and walk away with your transponder.
3. Then leave your transponder about 20metres away but still within your view and pls consider traffic direction as you would need to make a dash for it.
4. Walk to your car, try to unlock the door, you will fail since the transponder is not with you. If the door unlock, that means your transponder is not far enough.
5. Now comes the test.... from the unwound window, reach out for the unlock knob of the car door..... count to 3, and then unlock the door by lifting the knob. The car alarm will go off!
6. Needless to say, now make a dash to your transponder and then press the unlock button to stop the alarm. Test complete!

Of course if got 2 people to test then easier. No need to run.

Can help me check. After u armed the car, does the alarm indicator blink or hard on?
The alarm indicator is the one with a padlock and car on your tachometer.

Can any kind bro take a picture of the location of the siren? Maybe mine don't have siren? The indicator seems normal.
Also would like to share how to disable your transponder temporarily to save transponder battery when u r not going drive for long period. Press n hold lock on the remote then press unlock twice. The led will blink 4 times. Now if you try to use the smart entry it will not work.
To enavle press any key on remote
BUT.......with barely 150horses, it will be a let down.......sigh...otherwise will consider it as a family car for the wife.
How are the torque figures, anyone.

My alarm doesn't sound when I tested it. The indicator is solid on when armed and blink when I disarm.

Nan dao u kena short changed by your PI? Why dun you clarify with your SE?
The paranomic roof is another great feature. The kids love it. It makes the cabin look roomier. I luv driving with the cover retracted on rainy days...for best result try with lightning!
Torque and acceleration is something i miss since my last ride is a civic fd 1.8l. After break in complete then i try to push harder and compare. Keke

Join the wagon buddy. LOL
Civic has the surge feeling but if you compare the speedo climb is almost the same when Harrier is on Normal mood. I drive my colleague civic 1.8 3 times a week and to reach the speed climb my rpm is around high 2 to 3k.
IMOH

I feel there is a different between the panel Eco Mood and when you are on normal mood with eco selected through the driver display panel. On Normal Eco the acceleration to 2000 is fast and more responsive.
Is it me only or everyone feel there is no different?
Yup. I know a PI who is going to bring this in. If only I did not buy so early.

Or it is hiding somewhere which i didn't noticed? Or is there any workshop who can install USB charger?
And also there is no bluetooth to be connected to the phone, according to the salesperson its becoz the dvd player is not original player from japan, that's why cannot be connected, anyone knows if i can get this fixed in any workshop?
Thanks!

Well, when you buy Jap SUV, you can forget about acceleration, unless you buy those turbo charged ones. The rest of the Jap SUVs acceleration are in the same range, some are worse. X-Trail has only 140+ BHP, Rav4 essentially same as Harrier, CRV made in thailand, Murano also same acceleration, ditto CX-5.. like my previous post mentioned, the one with most power is Forrester.. then again you sacrifice ride quality and FC. Harrier most plush inside, looks are peerless and excellent FC. And you have big space as compared to sedan (can put my L size road bike and close the tailgate, no need to use bike rack).. Mitsubishi outlander newly launched and also same acceleration, body heavier than harrier even though 2.4L. If it's any consolation, the RX 270 have slower pickup than our harrier.

IMO, no one will challenge SUV at red light one lah.. everyone knows the outcome.. :) and we have better things to do. If one is still so focus on pickup, then he is looking at the wrong car.
On the USB port, most of the DVD HU has an USB port behind,. U have 2 options, 1 is to use an extension cable to extend the port to your glove box.

2nd is to extend the USB to a USB dash mount. I did this. I bought the USB dash mount and passed it to my PI's audio installer. The dash mount fits nicely into the rectangular port in the central console beside the cigarette socket.

Something similar to this http://www.ebay.com/...d5c9225&vxp=mtrbut mine is the rectangular shape.

3rd option is to buy this USB dash mount that can be wired to your car fuses. Nowadays they have 1A and 2A options for Android and IPhones.

For those with Alpine Head Unite INE-W947E (or similar) to change the default "Alpine" startup logo to any picture you want. Follow these simple steps here i found online.

1) Put the splash screen image on the root of a USB memory stick. The filename should be: apn_pa_opening.bmp (all lowercase)
Two things you need to know. First, make sure the image is 24 bit bitmap (BMP) format. The preferred size is 800x480; if you use a smaller size, it will center it as best as it can. Now if you want it to work, you should take your desired image and save it into 24-bit BMP using Microsoft Paint, the crummy Paint program that comes standard with Windows. MAKE SURE TO USE PAINT -- for some reason, the Alpine firmware is very touchy and needs the Paint format. I have a Mac and used a very good file conversion software utility to convert my PNG image into 24-bit BMP, and the Alpine didn't accept it and locked up with a "Please Wait" message. Windows Paint is the standard, so use that and make sure it actually reserves the image in that format. If you have a Mac like me, borrow a friend's Windows machine and use Paint to resave it into 24-bit BMP.
Second, make sure the USB stick is formatted as FAT32. If you format it in Mac format, for example, the Alpine won't recognize it. Same with older formats like FAT16. You can do a "properties" on the USB drive to see its current format; if it's wrong, reformat it as FAT32.
2) Turn on your Alpine, plug the USB memory device into your USB port. (There does not appear to be any desired order here; you can plug the USB in before powering up, doesn't seem to matter.)
3) As others have mentioned, press the BAND soft key (on the touch screen) for two or more seconds. You will find this by setting the current audio/music to either FM or AM band, and the "BAND" key will be on the screen.
4) Press the NAV/AUDIO split screen soft key (on the touch screen). This will move to a split screen mode, obviously.
5) Press the PHONE key (hard key); on my unit this is a physical key on the bottom.
6) Press the VOLUME DOWN key (hard key); again on my unit this is a physical key.
If it works, you should see a "Please Wait" message pop up on the screen a bar or other progress indicator. If the format is correct, it should keep that message up for three or four seconds, and then reboot the head unit, and you will see your desired splash screen upon startup.
