    Haiz. Dunno la.

Blame educational system? Blame Govt? Blame parents?

But I see Liao I very the angry

Been wanting to say something about the general state of affairs we have here but couldn't bother to do so until your post :D

I think it has to do a lot with the general culture of this country. This type of behavior, albeit more toned down, is actually very common in the heartlands. Do note I have nothing against the people in heartlands but it is an observation I've made. I also note that these people tend to be staunch supporters of the PAP and in general have an air of superiority about them. I'm not trying to politicize this so hold your horses you fan boys :DIt's just a freaking observation I made.

There is a general lack of etiquette and graciousness in the society and sadly the locals contributed to it greatly. Nobody bothers to say "Thank You" when I hold the lift door for them. Even the Indian construction workers are more polite than most Singaporeans! Nobody really smile back when I smile at them; heck they probably think I'm a creep. The HDB aunties get pissed off when you brushed against them and it really was an accident because it was just too crowded - true story by the way. Singaporeans (too) grab when fresh oysters or any other perceived expensive fare are laid out on the buffet spread; the behavior is animal like and disgusting.

Perhaps the PAP did recognize this and implemented their foreign talent policy so this country can be elevated to a higher level. The ironic thing is these people continue to support when they're probably the ones who pushed the party towards the FT policy. And the summary of it is? We simply just cannot make it on the world stage in so many ways. Really sad.

Conclude your long long essay. When I was young in the 70's. .my parent always lecture me to hold the lift door for others. When door open..don't rush in first..disobey sure will get ear pull.

Always greet uncle/aunt..tell me who here never experienced when young where your mum/dad always insist you to greet "all" uncle/aunt along the door way/market etc. 70s/80s..era. by the way my parent weren't educated. My dad Higher only pri 3.

Is a failure of our education system. We can churn out thousand of academic scholars yearly but fail in moulding a society with humanity, basis social etiquette.

It started to go wrong during the 2 child policy. Encouraging graduate to bear more children. The streaming at pri school.

Once you start to segregate the society by different classes, elitism will rule over all other the moral aspects. "I am more superior than you"....apparent in mcf here as well. Korea/jap/conti/coe threads.

We gain in economic benefit but lost our moral attribute,

The lift part, I realised no one says thank you or ask which floor you are going to if they are standing near the buttons anymore. Used to do that when I was small cuz my parents say must do. But the smile part still ok la. Most people that I smile at will smile back or say hello if I greet them first.

I think this problem will only get worse unless all can change together. I try to get my kids to hold the lift doors for people if they are near the buttons and greet the neighbors. But they are reluctant to do so, reason they gave me was that it is weird. No one else does it and they feel shy doing something that no one else does. So I guess they probably only do it when I am around. Hopefully that will still be enough to make it become a habit of theirs.

I hope police Bo hiu her police report should she go and make police report on threatening post by public to her. She deserved it. She still feels she no wrong means it's already deep in her mindset and anything wrong just find police or someone who is of strong status to protect her.

Cannot like this leh. Waste time and resources of these kind of thing. If police Bo hiu her, see how see feels and hopefully she could them regret and change her mindset.

Her job maybe at stake now given so much publicity about her and also her. If she looses her job, high chance very difficult to get employed due who want to hire her that cause so much trouble plus the sucky attitude. It reminds me of the reckless Honda civic driver that went viral and the fat boy still think he is right by posting another youtube video to explain his action.

Then there is this jover chew, seems like these people are of the same type of people. Hopefully with the public shame, these type of people will not spread to messes and instead shrink in size. If majority of people are like the fat boy and the lady thinking, Singapore prosperity will be in great trouble sia.

Actually, I hope the police take up the case, and let more worms out of the can.

See if this is another NKF saga.

from the CSI in HWZ, she is working in a coy as good as Jover chew so her job is quite safe, some companies prefer this type of workers with similar mindset.

Do kids study moral or ethics nowadays?

If not, it is govt fault loh.

With emphasis (by ............) on good results, going to good university & getting good job, where does civil or moral education stands?

They still have this subject in school. But IMO, it is the parents' responsibility. Moral and ethics is something that we encounter in our daily life. The teachers are not able to be there all the time. The parents are the ones who will be the example/role model for the children.

A video sent in by StomperXshows two students -- said to be from Serangoon Secondary School -- exchanging blows in a multi-storey carpark.

Another student, holding the camera, narrates the fight by announcing the start and later progression into the second round.

In the video, several other students can be seen sitting and watching the face-off from the sidelines, laughing as the fight goes on.

Throughout the video, the student in the white shirt seems to be dominating with audibly heavy kicks and punches.

Meanwhile, the student in black is mainly on the defensive -- receiving a constant shower of blows, and hardly landing any hits.

Foodcourt cleaner verbally abused by woman gets job offers from restaurant owners

SINGAPORE - Several restaurant owners have stepped forward to offer Mr Png Lye Heng a job, after the foodcourt cleaner expressed his intention to quit in the wake of his encounter with a woman who yelled at him.

    ...

While various media reports said Ms Fong had gone to the home of Mr Png's elder brother to present a gift and apologise on Sunday, the brother told Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News on Tuesday that Ms Fong had not paid them a visit.

Since the incident, people have been spotted visiting the foodcourt to hand Mr Png gifts such as supermarket vouchers.

Really sad.

erhem! but they receivedmuch much much more than a world stage pay!
