Without overheating issues, any dvr with similar specs or better would have its upper hand.

Spotted a near miss case of taxi-kiss-taxi on the KPE this morning. See 00:18-00:25. Just before the red taxi filtered out, i was also checking my side mirror to see if i could filter onto lane 1, and spotted the prime taxi coming up fast. when the red taxi filtered in, i was half-expecting a shower of sparks and metal if the prime taxi couldnt slow down in time. Surprisingly the prime taxi didnt horn the guy in front, but i guess he knew he was at fault by speeding.

    Hi bros

    Something to share.

Some recorders having that 3~4 seconds of data loss during file transfer. (meaning- when file is completed, device needs to create another file)

Do enquire before you make the purchase. I have come across an accident video clip that missed out the most crucial evidence. No joke!

Damn I better check my new camera.

Hi Xavier, for the Finevu I noticed something, not sure any concern?
    1) In the configuration set-up menue the firmware version mine is indicate "XXXXXX". Is this normal? Mine is already in English firmware.
    2) After doing some setting change and enter configuration set-up again, will get the message that "cannot detect black box". Is this normal?

Schochong, I see you're based in Singapore, is this whole forum Singapore based? I just found it on a Google search. Can you ship to Ireland?

What's you're opinion on the selection of cameras on carblackboxstore dot com? There's more expensive ones than the BlackVue, should these be considered BETTER than the blackvue due to the price?

Are you strongly of the opinion that the ITB1000 is now the best blackbox device, or is it a close call between it and another product? Particularly the Blackvue due to its popularity and I guess, reputable build quality etc. I hear of overheating issue, I never had this issue with my DRS1100.

If so, can you please PM me a price for 3 x ITB1000 shipped to IRELAND and also give a separate price to include 3 x car battery saving devices :)

$240 from overseas, no power magic, no after sales support, no local warranty.
Might as well say buy blackvue, finevu or any korea car dvr from gmarket also save $$. wan cheap sure have , try calling to korea for their after sales support & pay the price for sending to & fro from korea for one unit alone. ;)
Cant compare price like that la.
Btw, have checked with Itronics that those that are sold in Online sources are "banned" serials number not warrant by them, only warrant by the online seller. Means there will be no English updates or support, unless from the seller.
    No offence.

can la. i take the risk lor. save 160 ley. can almost buy 2. same as the KDK ceiling fan i bought from malaysia. exactly half the price of the local agent set. spoil so what, just buy another lor. which by the way is still working fine after 3 years. honestly how often does things spoil. so far i must say i have been lucky with all my online purchases. the amount save could have almost bought me another set of each item. i also buy makita tools 18V LTX from the USA. so much cheaper than the really over priced local set. And they have been working fine for the last 3years too.

if the price difference was smaller, i would have bought it from you. another reason why i buy from korea Gmarket is because me and my colleagues go to korea so often and we ship to our Korea office, so no issues getting easy supplies. warranty in Singapore is over rated. maybe except from you whom i can see is very trust worthy. from other retailers, they always say "its like that one... wear and tear or you never install properly and thousand and one excuses.. sorry no warranty". That's why i rather buy cheaper and take my chances.

ya lor... that why i held off buying the blackvue DR400. even though my DR350 is working fine after so long. and i switch to ITB as my ITB-70 is also working well over the last 2years. anyway i also DIY install. dont wanna risk shops tearing up my car. anyway keep up your good support. i'm sure most are willing to pay a little more for this support level. Dr400 heats up even if not under the sun, at least this is only warm which is normal like other car dvr.
The rubbery finishing makes it conduct less heat too.

The savings is one thing, that crossed my mind, as I do shop online a lot. The thought of having to send back and forth, to me wise, is not worth my effort, best to have someone attach a warranty (which to me is more important) and in the case of cabin heat affecting the camera, did a one to one change out with Shochong. His installer was good, knew how to go about doing my car, (not the regular sedan car) all good, apart from the fact I accidentally moved the dip switches on the PM, and was wondering why my camera was off in the morning. laugh.gif Small price to pay for peace of mind really, that's how I feel.

    Hmm which workshop bro?
I have 2 appointed workshops. Need your feedback. You can pm me & let me know.
Might be some misunderstanding in the price quotation. So far, i have not received any complains about the installation charges to me personally yet, just once when i forget to inform the additional $8 for the socket, so i absorbed the $8 for that customer.

Guys if u find any changes in the installation fee during the time of setup, please call me to verify with the boss to avoid such complication.
    Otherwise, i wouldnt know...

    Basically here's the installation charges:
    Workshop 1 (Serangoon North):
$30 for japan car to tap directly to battery & conceal wiring.
$50 for conti car to tap directly to battery & conceal wiring.
Used to be $30 for conti car before 16 march, till the recent adjustment of price due to the amount of effort & time spent on the complicated electrical system of conti cars.
    Additional socket: $15

    Workshop 2 (Kakit Bukit):
$30 for japan car to tap directly to battery & conceal wiring without socket.
$38 for japan car to tap directly to battery & conceal wiring with socket.
$38-$50 for conti car to tap directly to battery & conceal wiring with socket.

Please understand that conti car really requires effort & time for installation, so if some workshop are doing at a loss profit at low charges, our next question will be the services provided.

    Thanks!

Just had mine wired today at Car Beauty Centre. A quick 15 min job. Mine is a VW Touran and cost $38 with the adapter. I think it's quite easy to install for mine that's why the lower charge.

Now, should I set the video to 720p in order to record longer?

Replied back to you, thanks :)

Just another question you may know the answer to which others may be interested in. I have my vehicles hard wired for the DRS1100 so the power cable is fixed to the car power, I can't just unplug it. Do you know if the connection and power rating on the DRS1100 is the same as on the ITB-1000-HD so I can just plug it straight in, or will I need to hard-wire them again separately? :)

I know Singapore is a lot hotter than Ireland, is the overheating issue purely down to the device, or is the weather effective of it too?

Not sure abt itronics but my DRS1100PRO plug right into BV and Finevu w/o any modification. Fits like a glove.

Cool thanks for that. Hopefully it's the same too :) Was a little disappointed with this video on the ITB-100HD, just the car at 50 seconds, it's right beside the recording car, but impossible to see the reg :(

what camera is the best for reg identification? Also, how many hours footage can be expected on a 32GB card at highest quality recording?

For me, in terms of daytime recording, I still love my DOD-tec GSE580. It has the most natural video reproduction as its like a normal point n shoot camera.

At Full HD, most camera should able to store 8-10hrs worth of footage in a 32G memory card.

I wonder would the itb100hd fit much more on due to compressing in H264?

Checked out the other one you suggested, it does appear to be clearer in terms of reading reg plates, but there seems to be a slight "shake" causing a blur aswell, in this video anyway:

Our singapore car plates font is not so squeezy like yours haha.. & the angle of the sun is shinning directly on the white car plate which is reflective. Singapore license plate is mostly black and less reflective.
Under Singapore road testing condition, among finevu, blackvue & itronics, Itronics has the upper hand for night quality as reviewed in DL as crystal clear. :)

Zooming thingy unsure maybe my car bounce or something.
Among the 3, here my opinion:
    Top Pick - Itronics Why?:
    1. Now you can avoid the hassle of constantly removing the sd card & formatting from your home pc, with just a click of the "Quick Format" button!
    2. Highest viewing angle of 144 degrees.
    3. H264 compression to minimize file size, yet retaining the high resolution quality!
    4. Comes with Built-in GPS module to pin point your location as you play back the video!
    5. Night vision mode for enhancing dark videos clarity!
    6. Mute on/off button
    7. Most importantly, it does not overheats!

Otosaver is packed with useful controls buttons & voice prompt but the down side is the night quality:
    1. 140 viewing angles
    2. Quick format button
    3. Snapshot button
    4. Mute on/off button
    5. Built in power magic
    6. Camcorder mode
Getting late will give a more thorough review tmr.

Yes. Finevu in front, BV DR-400 in the rear. It only powers up when driving. So hope can extend its life a little more. Furthermore, rear tinting is darker so partially block out the harmful sun rays.

Been using it as rear cam since its back from RMA.

thanks. i am using a DR-350 for rear. and DR-400 for front. it seems that setting the Frame rate to 15fps helps quite a fair bit. now trying this option out, exception is that the vids do get a bit jerky.

no overheat issue. do note the limitations of a VGA camera. but i do encounter some card writing with a class 10, 16Gb, but no prob with the supplier class4 4Gb card.

a VGA camera, not matter how sharp it is, is only 640*480, unlike a FullHD camera, which provides a image/vid resolution of 1920*1080. When viewed in its original size, its OK, but in a larger screen, a 1920*1080 camera will provide much clarity.
then again, each is of a different price class.

Can somebody please explain what exactly do these power packs do? Is it simply to stop the DVR, if continuously plugged in while the engine is off, from draining the battery if left for a long enough period? How long would a car need to be sitting idle with it plugged in for the battery to go flat? Do they offer any other benefits?

I never had to format the SD card of my DRS1100 when using them but the itronics is said to have a "pro" of having a quick format button, I'd see this more as a "con" that it needs a quick format button?

Having a quick format button doesnt necessary means u need to always format it. But having no quick format button will means a hassle when u need it. Thats y most new korean model are built in with this function now like the otosaver.

The battery packs provide alternative source of power for ur cameras which are running 24/7. Without a battery pack, your car battery(45AH type), will drain within 3 days if connected to a car camera only. Add in ur car alarm n various other gadgets(e.g running leds), ur car battery will last from 24 to 48hrs only.

To prevent draining of car battery, an alternative power source is preferred. The cameras will drain from the alternative battery pack and the battery pack will be charged whenever ur engine is started.

However, if you are driving everyday for at least an hour, such battery packs will not be of use to you.

I'm very certain it's grainy at 1080p on the Youtube. If it's played back at a lower res, somehow, Youtube smooths out the graininess. The night brightness setting is 2nd button from left on the interface.

For the latest firmware, the 2nd button from the left seems to be the same settings for the middle button of the old firmware. try setting to level 1. However its normal for Finevu to have this effect under dim light conditions.

ermm.. Noob question. Do we actually have to connect the physical Itronics DVR to the PC when we change the settings? Or can we change the settings with just the SD card plug in to the PC and thereafter the "new" settings will be registered on the DVR once we insert it in?

Also, if I am looking to upgrade the SD card, will just any SD card do? Or must it die die be a Class 10?

    Hi all,

I have been reading up on a few cameras and have shotlisted a few.

    1. DOD F880

    2. DOD F900LHD

    DOD videos : http://m.youtube.com...h?v=D2l88Gmcnzc
Video for DOD seems clear in capturing license plate numbers but I do note that it is recorded at slow vehicle moving speed and it's quite zoom in.

    3. iTB 100 itronics (based on recent reviews in digital life and I read in this forum that it is not affected by overheating issues? Is this a new feature?)
On the other hand, I have some users here have began using iTB, anyone can comment on the video quality difference?

At the moment I am quite at a loss on which to go for.
    Any suggestion from bros/sis here?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm using the Tpower with my Finevu CR300HD.

With a full charge it will power my Finevu for around 13hrs in parking mode. I get home at 7+ pm and it will provide power till 8+ the next day, which basically covers the parking mode overnight. However during my daily commute to work it does not recharge fully, probably to 50-60%, which doesn't cover the next 8-9 hrs spent at the office carpark, and I'm back to 50-60% after the drive home, which again doesn't cover the overnight parking. So I toggle between parking mode at office and parking mode at home to try to maximise the coverage.

Seems like the Finevu does drain out a fair bit of power during parking mode. I've set the parking mode to "No motion detection" and "Shock" only to try to save a bit of battery juice (my carpark quite high traffic, overnight parking generates quite a lot of motion clips.) but it's still around the same.

Anybody have tried Tpower with any other DVR?
