any bros here actually won a case via using this cam? whereby normally without this cam you will most likely lose the case?
I did. Had the first generation of car cam installed then. Not much features, only auto overwrite when memory card is full. Have to manually turn on/off, have to manually stop the recording otherwise video file will not save.

experts, what is the most cost effective cam in the mkt that:
1) able to record on motion detection while ignition is turned off; like DR400 (hopefully w/o overheating, STABILITY is most important. thus it must not hang / crash)
2) H.264 compression
3) read / write on ExFAT formatted cards?
4) able to write long duration files continuously (30-60mins) or have almost zero 'gaps' between recordings
5) 720p / 1080p with wide angle (as wide as possible)
6) i do not need onboard LCD screen, thus i hope to save some $$ on this.
looking for a new camera to replace my old one.

i think point 4 also cannot. Most of the DVR out there records 1-3 mins /file.

I dont have any night shot at the moment cos there is nothing to see at all. I never save any of the night footage. The bright headlamps from the car behind cause u not see its number plate till they are like very very close to ur butt.
Rear camera is good only for day time.

Is CR-300HD very expensive? heard its something like close to $400 :( thats almost 2x the cost of my 1st camera :(
Is there any cameras in the mkt that doesnt use fixed focus? My current camera and many cams in the mkt seem to have fixed focus. And focused was set to be less than 3m :(
Thanks for your recommendation

Then consider this : http://www.mycarforu...p...t&p=4258282
For budget cams, you have to look at China car cams. But dont expect too many features like korean or taiwan car cam. One cent money, one cent goods.
So far, all car cam are fixed focus lens. How to have continuous auto focus lens at affordable price??? Maybe use a Full HD camcorder or DSLR as car cam???
Have news that the english firmware will be out early next month. There is a firmware upgrade for Finevu CR300HD, CR-300HD_Firmware_V1.00.011.
Not sure whatz it abt, its in korean.

For the finevu 300Hd,
Is it difficult to mount and align the view?
After alignment, I believe there is a lock. After locking, Is it tight? Like after lock if you try to take out the SD, it will just shift easily?
Oh ya, is there any time lag between files?
Do you need to set the date time set and forget?

I had issues as my cars take a lot of vibrations, and using the suction cup, it fall off after some time
and even a few times when I was driving. That was why I decided to go with the BV400HD.

Mounting isn't difficult, it's a suction cup. Personally, suction cups can't hold as well as the 3M all weather tape.

How's your blackvue by the way? Any problems? Datetime stamp accurate? Do u have to always set date time? Especially if u always parking in covered cp i.e. when u start driving always no gps. Quality wise, foes it degrade? Reboot?I thought the 300 was with suction cup. No?

No, it is not difficult to mount. I mount it directly under the rearview mirror mount to ensure it is centre of the windscreen as per car manufacturer mount.
The locking is not tight. Taking out the microSD, sure to move the cam aligment. But after a few trial n errors, I know where the sweet spot is.

Given that we're ordering from an overseas source, there isn't any guarantee that All of the units arriving are going to be in superb operating order. Although we can normally return for them to replace, there will nonetheless be important costs to do that. So who becomes responsible to do that return? I don't feel it could be fair to anticipate Parkingidiot to do that, since he's already performing so a lot to co-ordinate this. And who gets to make a decision who gets a great set vs faulty set?
My suggestion then should be to order an extra set, and have that cost spread out among all of the participants. Conservatively speaking, with 30 participants, it comes up to only about $6 per individual. It is a little like purchasing insurance.
And if we ought to be so lucky that Every SINGLE UNIT is operating perfectly fine, then that reserve unit is often sold on to probably the next MO, or some of us may well even choose up yet another. I know I may well - given that I am ordering a single unit now just to test, but in fact desire a lot more. So what to complete with the proceeds of this sale? I wouldn't wish it upon Parkingidiot to must credit everyone that $4 or $6, so possibly we can donate that to a charity - Children's Cancer Foundation, Assisi Household and Hospice, and so on... to name a handful of.
So how about it people - buy ourselves a little peace of mind, and hopefully have the ability to contribute to a charitable trigger as well.
Thanks for reading. this is my car camera recorder

Abt time to upgrade to better resolution and no interval lag one.
Fr your exp n review, I also think bv is better cos now both also no LCD to check. Sturdy should be one of my criteria too.
And reliability also a concern.

Not really lah, my car low profile, so got more vibs.
And add some saliva......Finevu is double tape mount.
My DOD suction cup mount still holding. But when park long time under sun it will drop. Thatz the characteristic of suction mount.Just stick it back when it drops.
On a side note. How would you compare the 2 with dod gse580. other than the obvious size diff. It it stable? Datetime accurate? Lag between files? Does it hang? But remember, blackvue has heat issues and foggy lens issue still unresolved. Have not heard of such problem on the Finevu yet.
Hi they are using suction. Is the DSXR280 and DSX05BHD using mounting tape or suction? Thanks.
Thanks
and btw, i have also d/l the android app for the bv400 onto my galaxy note ... works perfectly.
If i were to use it only for drive recording, which would u recommend? The finevu or the blackvue
I would go for Blackvue.
Since you are using only for driving (as mentioned by you), thus, heat issue should not be an issue to you as during driving, I assume aircon will be on or your window are wind down for ventalation. Lastly, probably you are only going to drive say 1 hr (max) per trip (unless you are a taxi driver) ?
The heat issue "seems" to be affecting those who parked their car in open air carpark and subject to heat of the sun while the Blackvue is in parking mode recording.
Just my opinion lar.
On a side note. How would you compare the 2 with dod gse580. other than the obvious size diff. It it stable? Datetime accurate? Lag between files? Does it hang?
DOD-tec GSE580 is the most stable, thatz why its still in my car since the day I got it, Sep2011. No problems with it at all except for it to hang once, just push the reset button n its good again.
Date n time is accurate.
I am using Transcend Class10 32G SD card, so there it virtually no lag between video files. I am using the 45min recording duration.
For me, the downside is only the laggy GPS, noisy nite video n not sharp 720p video(1080p is very clear thou).
btw, any finevue users can upload some low light vids here ??
and btw, i have also d/l the android app for the bv400 onto my galaxy note ... works perfectly.

Hi, I want to check out some of your experiences with the video recorders.
1. Did anyone experience bubbling of their solar film using the mounting-tape or suction holders?
2. Is it very difficult to remove the mounting-tape holder if say, we need to RMA or change to a new one?
3. Does anyone mount on the dashboard instead? Any disadvantage?
1. Dont mount too close the edge of the solar film.
2. Use a plastic shaped flat screwdriver.
3. Yes, some mount on dashboard which I discourage as it only attracts break-ins like standalone GPS. Furthermore, the angle of the video would be lower thus cant see the immediate front of ur vehicle.
Just my 2 cents.

2. Is it very difficult to remove the mounting-tape holder if say, we need to RMA or change to a new one?
3. Does anyone mount on the dashboard instead? Any disadvantage?
1. Never experience that
2. Need a little force to do that. I used a slim (best thin) card and insert inbetween the windscreen and tape. Push-push all 4 corners and slowly it will come out. Surpsingly, the 3M tape really good which doesn't leave much residue on both Blackvue holder and windscreen.
3. Mount on dash board ? Wah. Too low to record anything leh. Don't think can record the bonnet well enough as well as the side if placed on dashboard.
However, I find that there is a slight disparity of video sharpness when compared to Blackvue DR400G-HD. Night video is also comparable to the Blackvue DR400G-HD, brightness can be adjusted from the settings menu.
Bro, what do you mean by "slight disparity of video sharpness when compared to DR400G-HD?
Is this FineVue sharper or worse off than the DR400G?
From the day video you posted, the Finevu is sharp, if not sharper than the first day video posted by ShoChong when he first introduced the DR400G to us.
So, whats your take on the day and night sharpness of this Finevue CR300 vs DR400G?
As I see it, the DR400G has more abilities (e.g. GPS n the map thingy), but its software stableness and the hardware (lens and sensor) problems weigh a lot against it.. the CR300 has acceptable functions but none of the weaknesses plagueing the DR400G now.. sigh....
I still looking for a DR400G without any of its current problems, and I'm sure it will be a big winner!

can try one on changi coast road ? run parallel to the airport runway at night ?
and its not only where your headlights are pointed at, its the surrounding that shud be "illuminated" also.
CR300 is sharper than DR400 especially in the day, but the sharpness cause the slight noise effect for the night video, DR400 has a "smoother" night recording. CR300 is 5mp vs blackvue 2.8mp (if nvr remember wrongly), inbuilt power magic & snapshot button to be used as a camera. Also an internal battery.Bro, what do you mean by "slight disparity of video sharpness when compared to DR400G-HD?

Pros & cons for both.
So far i have no complains of finevu operating under direct sunlight during parking or hanging issues, but am still monitoring.
The new batch of DR400 (since 2 weeks ago) with the new board has no complains of purple videos/foggy lens so far, will monitor as too early to judge.

GPS n the map thingy), but its software stableness and the hardware (lens and sensor) problems weigh a lot against it.. the CR300 has acceptable functions but none of the weaknesses plagueing the DR400G now.. sigh....![]()
I still looking for a DR400G without any of its current problems, and I'm sure it will be a big winner!
Overall video in 100% resolution playback, Finevu CR300HD is sharper than Blackvue DR400G. But when u zoom in abt two car lengths away to view the video, the CR300HD image is more pixelated than DR400G.
can try one on changi coast road ? run parallel to the airport runway at night ?
and its not only where your headlights are pointed at, its the surrounding that shud be "illuminated" also.
Sure, I'll try that and will post the video. I know this road well, during my reservist, always travel on this road to changi naval base. Will let u know once I uploaded the video.
bro adrain, ur foggy lens due to prolonged exposure to open hot sun parking?
I dont think so. Its more of 24/7 running.
Wondering if the car is always parking under the sun & BV is always turn off, will the heat in the car still will damage the component inside the BV?
Think so... and if your car is always parked under the hot sun and your BV is off, then i suggest u get a car cover (silver type) to wrap up your car to minimise the UV and IR heat build up inside your car compartment... can also wind your windows down a bit when car is wrapped up.... hope this way the car traps lesser heat and ur BV will not have the problems...
saw the samples off youtube and thought it was pretty fine, as good as blackvue but possibly without the heat issues
anybody got reviews on ITB-100HD?
saw the samples off youtube and thought it was pretty fine, as good as blackvue but possibly without the heat issues
i doubt its as good as BV
Something I noticed and which is the inherent nature of Car DVR with wide angle barrel distortion is that the car license plates are not very sharp away from the center of the image. ie If a car is beating the red light and in the lane to my left or right while I am stationary, I will not be able to capture the license plate of the offender clearly. Maybe I'll make do with my F500D until something better comes along :)
But I think for the moment, BV DR400G is still clear at the sides... u can see the sample videos posted here previously.
I'm thinking of changing my current car cam DSX1080SX to the BV DR400G-HD (again!) as I think it is still the best now, and the second batch with the new MB may offer some help in the overheating and stability problems..
But some changes to our usage and parking habits can also go some ways to alleviate the DR400G current set of problems, e.g using class 10 cards, parking under shade and try not to use 24/7 if can.... but this is subject to individual preferences la..
Just my 2 cents worth today....

Hi,
I have uploaded the night video of Finevu CR-300HD taken from start of Changi Coast Road(ECP) till the end of it(Changi Village). Total duration is 10mins.
U will never be able to capture such details(car run red light while u are stationary) in normal car camera or any hand held video camera. U will need a slow motion camera to do that. Probably ard 200-300fps camera to do that.

blckvue vs finevu...which one is better?
CR300 is sharper than DR400 especially in the day, but the sharpness cause the slight noise effect for the night video, DR400 has a "smoother" night recording. CR300 is 5mp vs blackvue 2.8mp (if nvr remember wrongly), inbuilt power magic & snapshot button to be used as a camera. Also an internal battery.
Hi,
Is the heat issue completely solved for DR400 with this new board? I am interested in DR400 but holding back due to heat issue as I park in hot sun almost 24/7 both at home and office (open air carpark, so no choice).
blckvue vs finevu...which one is better?
As I always advised. There is no best car cam in this world yet. Choose the one that fit ur needs. I had already put up the reviews for these two. View them n make ur own decision.
how r the cables of the recorders hidden? will it void my new car's warranty if the power is tapped?
if my 12V is already used for ionizer, how can i still power the recorder?
how's the finevu compared to DoD brand of recorders?

Depends on ur needs. Both Finevu CR-300HD and DOD-tec car cams (GSE series) are higher-end in the market. Each has its own strong points. Good thing abt DOD-tec is it has build-in LCD screen. While Finevu has good night videos like Blackvue.
Wires are easily hidden under the various panelling in ur car. Can DIY within 5mins. U can tap power from any electrical points(ACC, fuse box or direct car battery) but u will need certain amt of electrical knowledge to do so.
If u want to plug in to ur 12V Cig lighter plug, just get a splitter. There are two, three, and four way splitter where u can just buy off the shelves in big supermart or car accessories shop.
hi. sorry to sound like a noob. i need to install a camera to capture people who tried to vandalised my car when parked at night. which kind of recorder do i get? any cheap n good recommendatio.? i need to install immediately. let me catch that person i going to whack him until his laobu cannot recognised him.
Any car camera can be used as a surveillance camera. Just connect it directly to a car battery and run it 24/7.
Choice of car cam depends on one needs n budget.
If u need immediate installation, look for ZMC(DOD-tec agent) or any other car workshop selling car cam. Tell them ur needs n they can cater to them.
guys just some question. how come I cant seem to change my BV DR400G setting? after I "save & close" the setting still the original?!?!? anyone any idea? thanks
I had tha same problem, mine is the LED button light ON, which I've set it as OFF.
What I did was to reformat my SD card, install the firmware, make the necessary setting and it's ok. I know this way is a bit tedious, maybe other bros have a much simpler step.

Can use the same power adapter. I am.
Wide angle lens provides a clear field of view.
I use a GoPro HD Hero in my vehicle. Got the skeleton housing and wired a USB cable to provide power to the camera when the car is running. 32GB card allows recording for 16 hours.

is there's a loop recording function on the gopro? (a hack to do it?)
Hmm but go pro do not have smart feature like auto switching to parking surveillance mode and normal driving mode, does not have motion detect & no auto start up/off upon engine start/off.I use a GoPro HD Hero in my vehicle. Nah, I tried looking for a loop function, but there isn't. 32GB car will suffice for a full day. Usually the battery runs out first before the card is full. However, when the car is running, the USB cable charges it up.
I have a BatteryBacPac which attaches to the back of the camera if i want to extend the battery life.
Yep the GoPro is just a small mountable camera. And since it serves the function of In-car recording well, i employ it for that purpose. Having said this, I use it for diving most of the time. Just change the housing and presto, you have a waterproof dive-able camera. So one camera, two functions.

Any camera can be a car cam but w/o the features unique to a car cam. In fact ur camera hp can be a car cam too. If u have a nokia smartphone, just download this free app :

I tried it, not bad for a simple car cam.

Should just get a proper car cam if you really want to use one in the car even the cheapest one is better then nothing.
