Get a sandisk microSD card. I am using Sandisk 32G class4 microSD card, so far so good.
By the way, I am using Sandisk 16GB class 4, which it was included in the original sets. They claimed it is something to do with speed of the Sd card. Class 6 is faster. they advised me to get Class 6. I think he I s full of crap.
I think Sochong is right. something to do with the software.

After I done some research, I decided to purchase Blackvue 400hd from Foon Audio because they praise that their shop is most reputable & trustworthy, and best workmanship shop in Singapore. Mr Foon offered me $550 per piece claiming that he want to uphold the integrity of his shop's reputation and assured me the quality of his product and after sales support (i.e. warranty). At that time, I knew that his price is above the market rate, and to show my sincere guesture that I am genuine buyer and want to cut all the chase, I requested for hassle free new condition product with top of the range micro sd card. (At that time, I did not know anything about class 4 and class 6 as it was not mentioned in the forum.) 2 weeks after I installed to my vehicles eventhough I did not even do any upgrade of the software, Can anyone advise me why 2 sets of Blackvue 400hd (with 2 sets of power magic set at 11.8v each), the lady voice recorded keep saying "....starting normal recording..." then it shut off completely and damned? Immediately, I returned the faulty set to the workshop and advised to come back again as they need to send to their agent for repair, but the workshop keep my blackvue sets for 3 weeks and can't be bother to call me when it arrived to workshop. When collecting my Blackvue sets, they told me to upgrade existing Micro sd Sandisk card (16GB) from class 4 to class 6. Bro, FOR ALI purchases,pray that your set is not defective ever as getting warranty claim from them takes ages & be prepared to debate yr reasonings for the warranty. DE is more reliable than ALI. That is why customers still prefer to get from local suppliers, after sales support & 1-1 exchange within warranty period is very crucial. I do not know abt the LED. Have not received my set yet.
I do not think they use the same type of power cable. This one is 5V and DR400 is 12V.

I bought stuff from Aliexpress before, first time ok, second time got problem. I wrote to the vendor, he vendor more than willing to send me a new set FOC and I can keep the existing one!!! Its a plug n play reverse camera that fits directly into ur license plate light holder. But I reject as my installer already manage to install it. I just put in a bad review, end of story.

Bro, what i suggest is try updating the firmware to the latest version & see if the problem exists. Another alternative can be asking the workshop to contact their supplier to give u a 1-1 exchange for the class 4 card with the class 6 card. Class 4 card is released with the original set in their first batch release. So i am quite sure that the set they are selling you is from the first batch. Subsequent sets come with class 6. Is PowerMagic an additional cigarette lighter socket for your car, or is it just a replacement for your existing one?
I have a GPS in my car which is useless without being plugged into the cigarette scoket as my Blackvue is now plugged into it.

Is PowerMagic an additional cigarette lighter socket for your car, or is it just a replacement for your existing one?
I have a GPS in my car which is useless without being plugged into the cigarette scoket as my Blackvue is now plugged into it.
Anyone who installed powermagic can advise?
Power magic is installed directly from ur fuse box. It will not use ur cig socket.
Bro, what i suggest is try updating the firmware to the latest version & see if the problem exists. Another alternative can be asking the workshop to contact their supplier to give u a 1-1 exchange for the class 4 card with the class 6 card. Class 4 card is released with the original set in their first batch release. So i am quite sure that the set they are selling you is from the first batch. Subsequent sets come with class 6. I have yet to get a class 10 microSD card. So to me, it is still working fine. Lucky I run GSE580 together so they compensate each other if one decides to fail on me while driving.

that doesn't drop off (suction) due to speed and vibrations, and yet be reliable. *sigh*
Mine once in a while will ask me check my SD card and then after a few announcement which I ignored, it self heal and told me she starting normal recording. Checked the recordings, all ok except the parts when it announce check SD card not recorded.

Ok, Shochong told me the come with class 6 would suffice.
Yup, that Samsung 16G class 6 should be sufficent for normal driving. But I find 16G in Full HD, not enough storage for my overnight surveillance.
16G = 5hrs continuous Full HD recording
32G = 10hrs continuous Full HD recording
Normal driving is more important to me. Hmm......then again....Shochong, let me consider hor.

Hi bro,Bought a 32 GB class 10 micro SD from Amazon....a..after using a week..hv difficulty plugging it out....seems like BV is too hot for it... my kingston 32GB Class 4 suddenly hv this msg...no microSD installed (something like that) recently...plug it out as well and replace it w the original SD card... for a week, till today...no issue. wondering why is that so for the other 2 SD....

For those who purchase V660, would like to inform you all that DOD has released latest firmware upgrade for V660.
You all may download the firmware from the link below:

This fixed will solved the following issues.
1)In the previous version, everytime V660 boot up, you will need to activate the Night Mode again & again.
Now the device able to save the last mode used for the unit.
2)In the previous version, there is an intermittent in the Audio setting.
Meaning the audio will automatically set to turn ON even you set it to OFF.
Now this issue solved.
3)You now able to set the time for the screen saver to kick in and auto shutdown when not in recording mode.
Example you set 2 min for the Auto shutdown, after 2 min of idle the UNIT will automatically shutdown.
But if the unit is in recording mode, the screen saver will kick in after 2 min, not to worry the system still continue recording in the background.
To view the screen, you will just need to press any button once & the screen back to live.
4)Ever since 2012 arrived, the date & time setting does not display the correct date & time.
Now the date & time issue has been solved.
Step to do the upgrade
1) Download the firmware from the above link given.
2) Extract out the file from the Zip file & copy only the file "FW96632A.bin" into the SDHC memory card main folder.
3) Power up the V660 using the USB cable provided in the standard package - Do not use the internal battery to power up the unit, incase battery low & shutdown the unit during the updating & this will caused to corrupt the system
4) The screen will be blackout & about 30 seconds the live view will appear on the screen. ( Do not be alarmed & power off the unit when you see nothing appear on the screen, please wait)
5) After you see the live view, record a 2 second video pressing "REC" & press "REC" button to stop the recording> press "MODE" to go to playback mode> Press "MENU">scroll down & select "Format" to format the memory card.
This to prevent the unit keep on updating the system with the file "FW96632A.bin" still inside the SDHC memory card when nextime you power on the V660.
Step on how to format the SDHC in computer so that V660 able to recognised the memory card.
If not, you will see the error message "Cluster Size Wrong, Please format."
1)Click on Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management>
Click to view how to format V660 Memory card
P.S Please select the correct volume before doing the format, as formatting other volume might cause your PC malfunction.

You can consider to buy a good 32gb card. For the existing one, can use it for your mobile phone, or buy a card reader for $5 and use it as a thumb drive. Its not that bad, bro.

Blackvue comes with voice prompt & recording led, so its quite easy to check if its recording, video wise, can access with android phone or connect to hud.. dsx1080sx is another good full hd with lcd though :)guys.. blackvue doesn't have the lcd screen right? do you know it is working... rather, how to conveniently check?

I forgot to tell you that Blackvue 400hd can drain my car battery flat. My car is brand new 1 year old, I had purchased from Foon Audio at $550 all in include warranty, power magic and installation. I parked my car 2 nights and 1 day as I left to Bangkok on Saturday afternoon. I came back on Monday morning found my car battery flat, got no choice call my neighbour to cold start my car. My carpark is very quite and secluded as I park in a small Condo with very quite surrounding basically very little traffic at night as I parked my allocated reserved slot at a corner with pillars and walls block off from all kind of traffics (vehicle or human). Why the battery drain up like a cheapo jink junk china made product?? (FYI, I parked my car in my office building also very secluded and quite and I travel average 80 km a day about 3 hours per day.)

ANY car dvr can drain your car battery if u r tapping it to the car battery, that is y the power magic comes into play. Its not like Blackvue has an internal module to detect your battery level to prevent you car battery from draining.
Purpose of power magic is to monitor your battery level and prevent it from draining by cutting the power supply to the dvr when your car battery voltage drops belows a preset limit (eg 11.8V).
If yours is drained, I think u should look for your installer as probably the installation went wrong, setting set wrongly for power magic? or the power magic is faulty? Nothing to do with blackvue.
Anyway you paid for premium prices, I think it makes sense for you to consult your seller for after-sales support. I am sure they can help u with your problem.

got 400 for front & 350 for back w pwr magic since ytd. initial recording ok; bv software installed on pc ok, except 350 one play on bv s/w all black screen but can play w gom player; no issues w settin up for both sets.
backside itchy go format 350 sd card, then dvr kept reportin "pls chk ur sd card" (actually referred to manual later was due to nvr upgrade firmware (NOTE: nvr insert BLANK sd card into bv dvr); now ok liao.
this evening 400 "hang", indicated by continuous purplish light, even after unplugged. waited for lights off b4 remove sd card to do format using sd formatter 3.1 (ALWAYS use pittasoft recommended sd card formatter) & firmware upgrade.
now everythin back to norm, fingers crossed.
overall stylish, value for money (due to GB good offer by bro Xavier) & well-build product, only let down by not so stable firmware. also 400 feels between warm & hot, 350 slight warm; both body r plastics.
update 2 on 301111: everythin still normal, except intermittent gps --> sometimes start engine to drive car no gps light, sometime there's gps light.
update 3 on 011211: hang in morning (continual purple light); loaded 301111 version dr400g-hd sw; back to normal for time being.
update 4 on 081211: GPS light not on for 2 days when driving wif mix of tunnel & surface roads, each for about 10 mins duration (previously GPS took 2 mins to light up (activate))
update 5 on 261211: got a replacement set due to intermittent gps (NOTE: shipping cost is SGD30 as claimed by Xavier; only ship back main set & not whole box; so try whatever u can 1st e.g. reformat & retry before confirm to ship back)

I forgot to tell you that Blackvue 400hd can drain my car battery flat. My car is brand new 1 year old, I had purchased from Foon Audio at $550 all in include warranty, power magic and installation. I parked my car 2 nights and 1 day as I left to Bangkok on Saturday afternoon. I came back on Monday morning found my car battery flat, got no choice call my neighbour to cold start my car. My carpark is very quite and secluded as I park in a small Condo with very quite surrounding basically very little traffic at night as I parked my allocated reserved slot at a corner with pillars and walls block off from all kind of traffics (vehicle or human). Why the battery drain up like a cheapo jink junk china made product?? (FYI, I parked my car in my office building also very secluded and quite and I travel average 80 km a day about 3 hours per day.)

Been using the new Sandisk Ultra 16GB (class 6) since Friday on latest firmware. No more "check sd card" error or sudden on/off. So far so good.
Hence, my advice for those using class 4 memory cards and experiencing problems, try using a better memory card.
I can now retire my DR350. Cheers! :)
Hey Mutton, this is my take. If someone in MCF is helping you, it is out of good intention, no one owes you a living, as you seem to put it in that manner below. You went to that workshop, it's only fair you take your problem back and settle it on your own, instead of expecting someone else to come and clear the mess you made. I did make myself very clear in PM, not to expect much of what Lightsaber can do for you, since the workshop in mention didn't bother doing a 1 2 1 with you. Likewise if Shochong screws up on any of the brother's job here, or mine, I will take him out and dry clean him myself personally.

". As such, quiet places can have events happening. Another time, there was a flickering fluorescent light, as such the recorder was recording all night long.

ANY car dvr can drain your car battery if u r tapping it to the car battery, that is y the power magic comes into play. Its not like Blackvue has an internal module to detect your battery level to prevent you car battery from draining.
Purpose of power magic is to monitor your battery level and prevent it from draining by cutting the power supply to the dvr when your car battery voltage drops belows a preset limit (eg 11.8V).
If yours is drained, I think u should look for your installer as probably the installation went wrong, setting set wrongly for power magic? or the power magic is faulty? Nothing to do with blackvue.
Anyway you paid for premium prices in retail shop, I think it makes sense for you to consult your seller(Foon Audio) for after-sales support. I am sure they can help u with your problem.

My surrounding parking are empty because it is a new condo and many units are vacant. If the fluorescent light is ok, I guess it must be the Blackvue camera. BTW, I got 2 sets of Blackvue 400hd in my car and 2 sets of power magic set at 11.8v, one back one front. Since, we, the user of blackvue, unable to control the environment, and 2 sets of blackvue obviously consume a lot of power, please advise if I install additional battery, do I need to install an alternator? I heard that the alternator is quite expensive, it could cost more than $600.

Now all chilled, well and good, in time for all to welcome the Lunar New Year.
Have 4 units Blackvue's... 2x DR350 (by GB), and 2x DRG-400HD (own purchase). HD facing front, 350 facing back, on 2 rides. Recording while "ignition on" only. All's well (& hope it stays that way). Had the 350's since August, the 400's since November.
One 350 was defective at purchase (didn't eject mSD card, think the spring was weak or the mSD card simply stuck). It was replaced 1-for-1 by GB organiser "on the spot" (with an extra/standby unit, I guess). Using original Class 4 mSD.
Using the latest firmware, both 400's only have a jerky playback issue which is easily fixed by playing at 0.9x speed. Both Class 6 and Class 10 mSD = no problem.
Just wondering about the issues you bro's are having.. are they somehow related to your using the units 24/7 for (parking) surveillance? Esp the 400 which runs HOT?
Or the direct connection of your BV's to the car battery? (if that's the way it's set up with the power magic). Maybe due to car battery Voltage fluctuations?

It start recording events (without any accident) with little humps and bumps all the time until the unit just shut off by itself. The machine will record event whenever there is certain shock up and down or left and right. When I touch the unit, it was extremely hot.
I just upgrade the software, but still got problem as you'd mentioned. I just bought class 6 sandisk micro sd card cost $70 each today and will install see how it goes.

Bro, you may also wish to check your settings to trigger an EVENT recording. You talked about humps and bumps, so presuming ur ride is in motion. I set mine so that I can go over the typical C/Park and road speed humps as NORMAL. I've found that the forward trigger can also activated simply by stopping quickly (or braking hard) if setting is too sensitive. Do "play" with them until you're happy with how your recording work.
If you're talking over-sensitive recording in SURVEILLANCE mode, then I can't offer any useful suggestion as my setups don't include stationary surveillance.
We refering on Blackvue 400hd. Can you you tell me how to set it to normal? I don't think I had set it to trigger EVENT recording. In the Pitta software, mine all set as normal. Yes, you're right. Humps and bumps: Singapore road is not even as there is a lot of bumps caused by road works on uneven patches due to laying cables underground and there are a lot of humps to prevent speedster. So when you drive, the humps and bumps will cause the sensitive blackvue to trigger EVENT recording as if accident is occurring.

got 400 for front & 350 for back w pwr magic since ytd. initial recording ok; bv software installed on pc ok, except 350 one play on bv s/w all black screen but can play w gom player; no issues w settin up for both sets.
backside itchy go format 350 sd card, then dvr kept reportin "pls chk ur sd card" (actually referred to manual later was due to nvr upgrade firmware (NOTE: nvr insert BLANK sd card into bv dvr); now ok liao.
this evening 400 "hang", indicated by continuous purplish light, even after unplugged. waited for lights off b4 remove sd card to do format using sd formatter 3.1 (ALWAYS use pittasoft recommended sd card formatter) & firmware upgrade.
now everythin back to norm, fingers crossed.
overall stylish, value for money (due to GB good offer by bro Xavier) & well-build product, only let down by not so stable firmware. also 400 feels between warm & hot, 350 slight warm; both body r plastics.
update 2 on 301111: everythin still normal, except intermittent gps --> sometimes start engine to drive car no gps light, sometime there's gps light.
update 3 on 011211: hang in morning (continual purple light); loaded 301111 version dr400g-hd sw; back to normal for time being.
update 4 on 081211: GPS light not on for 2 days when driving wif mix of tunnel & surface roads, each for about 10 mins duration (previously GPS took 2 mins to light up (activate))
update 5 on 261211: got a replacement set due to intermittent gps (NOTE: shipping cost is SGD30 as claimed by Xavier; only ship back main set & not whole box; so try whatever u can 1st e.g. reformat & retry before confirm to ship back)

We refering on Blackvue 400hd. Can you you tell me how to set it to normal? I don't think I had set it to trigger EVENT recording. In the Pitta software, mine all set as normal. IT STILL HAPPENS, BUT NOT SO OFTEN. NOW I EVEN KNOW WHICH HUMPS ALONG MY REGULAR RUNS WILL TRIGGER "EVENT" IF I DON'T SLOW DOWN ENOUGH. NO PROBLEMS WITH MINOR ROAD IRREGULARITIES, EVEN BOLEHLAND'S HEAVY USE, SMALLER ROADS WITH PATCHES OF MISSING BITUMEN DON'T TRIGGER.

2 units of Blackvue400hd install front and back are tap to car battery thru' 2 units of power magic connecting thru' the electronic control panel near the door at the side. The wiring are ok and both set at 11.8 voltage each as according to a workshop. I also check for 2nd opinion from other workshop, the wiring is ok.
It is always run very hot when I touch the unit. I am using class 4 having this problem, the unit consume a lot of power when it recording the event. Because the manufacturer flaws on the class 4, it is quite sensitive to the little hump and bumps on the road. It start recording events (without any accident) with little humps and bumps all the time until the unit just shut off by itself. The machine will record event whenever there is certain shock up and down or left and right. When I touch the unit, it was extremely hot.
I just upgrade the software, but still got problem as you'd mentioned. I just bought class 6 sandisk micro sd card cost $70 each today and will install see how it goes.
Hmm...isn't this is what Foon has advised you on the cl6 memory card on your warranty claim? So what's the whole commotion abt? I think it's best you approach the workshop you purchased from regarding your issue and as for pricing....one can of coke cost differently when purchase in supermarket compared to cafe...juz my 2 cents worth.
New tech products usually cost much more when 1st introduced and it will get more affordable over time. It's like TVs.

Blackvue software has actually been solved since the last patch, those who still encounters problem mostly is because of the class 4 cards.

my present DOD drop donno how many times, and also night recording is also important. Pay a bit more,
and ordered the 400 from Shochong. Once and for all, cos suction cup, picture also shaky for my case.

The night recording from the DSX1080SX is OK i guess.. saw on the Youtube posting by ShoChong... think a bit inferior to the DR400 only.. but bright and clear enuf for me la...
But there are *other* factors for this DSX1080SX that swung me towards it... more like the cost and operating issues of the DR400..
Guess you have to decide what you really want and buy from there lo....

so the pictures that come out are jerky. Since you made your choice then go with it. I'm going for the 400.

So expensiveI'm also in search of 1. Really cant make a decision which one to get. some more all at $300 plus above for all those fantastic evaluation.$300 plus can get an excellent camera such as canon to install on our car. The only points is its lacks some feature .

Yo bro, if possible do a quick test for the gps outside your car, had a customer who ever experienced that gps cannot be detected in his car but is fine outside his car, no explanation for this but we only suspect is the VCool solar flim lol. Feel free to meet me up, i have portable charger to test out of the car for u, if gps is really faulty, i suggest for a exchange, since i have a shipment coming in, i can waive off the fees from korea to sg this time for u. But bro, how come so zhun always kana no GPS for yr 1st & exchanged set hahaha, must buy 4D liao!

Bro, theres a quick solution for those using suction cup, get the 3M double sided tape (transparent kind) specially for glass material which wont damage the solar flim & can be easily removed, can get from self fix shop.
