for DOD, the local agent is solid resources. if you never buy from them, of course they will not help.

That's why customer service always fails..... first step already fail, they just go "HELLO"....

Oh i also have this problem with my F500. So I always check whether the unit powers down after switching off the car engine.
If the unit does not power down, just need to press the red button to stop the recording. and after 5 min of non-activity, the unit will power down by itself

    That is new to me.

As the power button is inactive after the USB adapter being touched, I will disconnect the whole unit from the holder and take out the battery to kill the power first. Then I will re-insert the battery and re-set the date/time before putting everything back.

If it happens again I will try your method which is more direct and easier. thumbsup.gif

in order to save $$, you never let the AD earn $$$.yet you want them to help you when the set got problem???

for a complete system, a good combination (my idea) would be
: front GSE-550/520, providing HD recording for front.
: rear : blackvue, compact design + blue light serves as a deterrent to tailgaters
: side cameras hidden in mirrors, like this one Advance Autosound linked to a dual channel recorder

All connected to car battery, including a voltage monitoring box that will cut off after 48 hrs or if V drops below 12V whichever comes first.

The side mirror plus DVR is $1500.

much more than the rest above.. Boh Hua... mellow.gif

Anyone tried the Garmin 2575r with the camera addon? The specs says that it's able to record at 720P HD. Saw the video sample on youtube, it looks quite decently clear. The cable for the camera module looks rather short in the Garmin website. Not sure if a longer version of the cable can be purchased cheaply from sim lim sq? Any feedback?

My HD720p is using normal 2G SD card now.

My milo can is using Class4 4G microSD card now. The 8G Class4 microSD card causes jerky video. I dont know why too so stick to 4G one.

Thanks bro Adrianli -- totally forgot abt the point that GPS is theft magnet :P
Also, to answer my own question. Went to Challenger just now to checkout the mentioned model. The cable connecting the camera to the GPS unit is Garmin propreitary connector, ie don't think there will be any cheaper version outside. What's more, one end of the cable is stuck on the camera, so it's impossible to replace the cable unless one knows how to dismantle the camera casing properly. Not good for my case because my GPS is positioned on one side of the dashboard to minimise blocking of my windscreen view -- putting the camera by the side serves no purpose at all.

They took other car camera video and put into this video!!! I recognise the last accident where the opp car jump the barrier and head-on, its taken from DRS1100PRO video!!!

    Hi bros

    Something to share.

Some recorders having that 3~4 seconds of data loss during file transfer. (meaning- when file is completed, device needs to create another file)

Do enquire before you make the purchase. I have come across an accident video clip that missed out the most crucial evidence. No joke!

that is because we tend to use low end S cards... bought ab ODO GS600... around $300+... was suggested to buy a class 6 SD card so to prevent the 1-2 sec file transfer... cost around $60...

    Micro sd

Hardly any lag time when continuing to a new video file using the card provided (irrespective of video resolution selected).

Adjustable from 1 min to 10 mins. I wonder why would anyone bother to set a time other than 10 minutes (max).

Same as HD720P I have except with IR leds. However this model is lacking motion detection and not sure if its auto IR or manual IR activation. It is a good cam.

    3) http://www.dealextre...5-tft-lcd-65452

This is not a HD cam. Do take note.

    4) Milo can

    Same as number 1.

    5) and the new one you order. :) http://www.dealextre...0-tft-lcd-82299

Looks good in specs and design. Yet to receive, looks like an improvement of settings from the milo can cam. Wait for my review. I should receive it this week, item already received in Singpost, waiting delivery to me.

Hope bro can enlighten me to which of the above is the best. Thanks in advance

Accidents can happen at any time, without notice. As is often the case after an accident, we are disoriented and don't always remember everything just prior to the impact. We may not clearly remember the conditions of the road, weather, and traffic immediately following an accident.

Having used the blackview car camera for the last three days, here is my review.

It is basically a slimmer version of the milo can size car camera with lots of other functions which were lacking. You can adjust the recording time, 1min(default), 3min, 5min or 15mins. Can adjust EV, white balance and light frequancy. My unit came with simplified chinese langauge menu, I had to set it to english from the menu. When it start up, a lady speaking in russian greets u. When it shuts down, the lady says goodbye to u in russian too. The captured video format was the same as the milocan size camera but nite video is slightly better. My sandisk 8GB class4 microSD produces jerky video, however my sandisk 4GB class4 microSD works great. Do u guys need a sample video???

    Blackview_menu_screen_002.JPG
    Blackview_menu_screen_003.JPG
    Blackview_menu_screen_004.JPG

The current con is mine came with two white lines across the screen, probably dead pixels. Unit is still usable, captured video is ok so will need to send the unit back to dealextreme for exchange.

    Blackview_menu_screen_005.JPG

If u are thinking of getting the milo can size car cam, forget it. Get this new Blackview car camera. It is also still pretty much a plug n play car camera with better adjustable functions. Video quality is the same but nite video is slightly better. Still can make out license plate from one car length away in the night. thumbsup.gif This one is another keeper among my fleet of car cameras.

Await my next car camera, DOD-tech GSE580............. biggrin.gif

    Hi,

Adrianli, I really appreciate your reviews!

I have been following this thread, and been teetering on the decision to either get the Milo Can or the squarish one, as both is priced at less than USD100. I guess at this moment, you will suggest Blackview, eh? I'm just looking for a camera whereby I'll practically forget that it exists--like you mentioned, a "start" and "record" thingy.

I have a few questions, though:

    - If we use a power splitter like this ( http://www.dealextre...r-dc-12v-19482) , can we still use the Blackview concurrently with my GPS (Garmin 255w)? I don't know anything about volts or whatnot...

    - Since I'll be getting everything from dealextreme, can I use this SD card? http://www.dealextre...igh-speed-10679 It's class 10, 8gb. To tell you the truth, I didn't know SD cards has got class rating prior to this, haha...=)

    - How long does dealextreme take to deliver the items?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie!! =D

And you guys have been very helpful for me to make an informed decision!

Yes, I am using a four way splitter too. Two socket for car camera, one socket for my Garmin Nuvi 200 and another for my rechargeable LED torchlight. I got mine from NTUC extra but u can get the same from dealextreme, mine I mod to have a on/off switch :

Nope. Max duration is 15mins interval. And my Sandisk 4GB class4 microSD card is giving me 4sec lag between files.

Have not come across any car camera with such long interval of two hours recording. Even my DOD-tec car cameras, max is 45mins for each file. What I do is just join the files together to create a road trip video. If there is less than 1sec lag between files, u will not notice the pause in-between the two files. Spot the pause in my this short road trip video. biggrin.gif

Thanks bro. Am thinking of getting one and wire it up. The dod one i had is kinda big. Think its f900. Had to constantly take down as i park under the sun occasionally. In the end, i didnt use the cam. Lol

Bro, can u share some pics of it on the windscreen? If this cam can somewhat hide a bit from the sun, i'll get it.
Still overseas atm. Will try to find the cam on dealxtreme when i return.

Ur reviews have been great. Bravo!

    Bro Adrianli,

saw your review on the new camera - it is awesome. But if comparing it to a DOD-F500D, which do you think is better? I currently own a F500D, wondering if should upgrade.

Hi guys, just want to share this low-cost car cam that I bought 2mths back from dealextreme.

    http://www.dealextre...i-2-5-lcd-54137

So far it has performed beyond my expectations. For its cost vs specifications, this is definitely value for money. Key factors that I consider before making my purchase on this unit.

    - Compact unit
    - Video codec H.264
    - True resolution of 1280*720
    - Battery is same as Nokia BL-4C and can be replaced. It can last a decent 1 hr 50min. I have also bought a genuine battery and can last over 2.5hours of recording. Will be good for use during short stops such as lunchtime etc.
    - Night recording resolution is good particularly on SG roads where street lights are plentiful. You don't even need to use the night LEDs.
    - 6-LED night viewing is a plus and is powerful enough for use in dark areas.
    - 120-degree wide angle - though I prefer it to be wider. I may want to put a fish-eye lens over it to stretch the angle to 180-degree.

    Hi Adrianli,

Thanks for your feedback, after reading, i had just placed an order for one too. I'll be fixing it on my mpv, some question maybe you can help me with:-

    * Can this camera be operated when the engine start/stop? ie. it will automatically starts recoding when engine starts and also stop when engine is switch off?
    * i presume if i hook it with my car battery, i can remove the internal rechargeable battery? (i worry it could explode if expose to hot sun for too long)

Btw, i am also looking for in-car video recorder without the lcd screen as i will attached it to my car's MMI (image can be viewed from my dashboard screen).
i've ordered a korean-made one through my workshop but after 1 month it is still out of stock. Any idea where i could find such recorder?

    Thanks in advanced.

The current con is mine came with two white lines across the screen, probably dead pixels. Unit is still usable, captured video is ok so will need to send the unit back to dealextreme for exchange.

Await my next car camera, DOD-tech GSE580............. biggrin.gif

i think that you concentrate too much on sales. to us consumers, its the way those workers handle the car when doing installation that matters. what is the use of good after sales service to customers, what is the use of getting babes to pose with your products when the installer do not care for customer cars.......

too many shops are like that...do the job quickly, move on to the next car etc
