The problem is with ur PC. Ur PC processor/graphics card not fast enough to handle HD 720P playback. I had the same problem when trying to run the video on my Pentium 4 PC. biggrin.gif

Try running it on a better PC.

I have to forward facing camera. DOD F900LHD on the left of the rear view mirror and DRS1100PRO on the right of the rear view mirror.

As long as u have full coverage, it should be alright. But having two cameras is a better option. biggrin.gif

Wah bro! I tot the DRS1100PRO can see the whole front if centered just below the rear view mirror?

My DRS videos show my front from left pillar to right pillar..

My only concern is the blind spots beside the car, where side swipes can't be captured by the front n rear mounted car cams.. ?

Don't worry, it's neither your PC nor camera. It's probably because you play the file directly from the MicroSD card that's why slower. Class 4 card is like that.

Try this. Copy the files you want to view from the microsd card to your PC first then play from your PC and it should be ok. I also same as you when playing directly from SD card (Class 4), and my PC specs is way way way above yours.

wow been missing out for a few days due to go overseas.

For me, i took the advise and price plunge to buy 2 Milo Cams from Dealextreme.

I guess i will provide a list of summary:
    Function: 7/10
Mainly for me, i am using it for survillance. Those whom refer to my previous post would know that my entire car got scratched on all panels, without 1 being spared.
It's the reason for me to install this camera. Bottom line, i need it to do survillance, and it's currently performing as per it's expected to. 4 weeks into it. Have purchased 2 sets, 1 facing front, and another facing back. Coverage about 240 degree.

Recording: Noticed lag of about 2 delays, using Scandisk Class 4 as well. Not sure why, i think it could really be a recorder problem. But 2 secs of Lag, i think i can live with it. Coverage of 2mins every time, that's like about 2% of error in terms of quantification.

Auto Power Cutoff: It does not have this feature, but outstide got workshop selling about 90-120 includes installation. Personally i have not installed it yet. May do it once i caught that bloody bugger whom scratched my car.

Price: Total damage, includes 2 cameras capable to perform 24hrs recording with a switch in place to off/on as and when it pleases you. $300.
The last time i check at the shop, the Blackvue costs about 300 for 1pc, and for 2pcs friendly priced of about 580 not includes installation.

Well i wish that i could upgrade to a better one(Who wouldn't right?), but i guess the point that is debatable is how much would it cost for a better one? Agreed that it does not make sense to change cameras after cameras, but we do need to know that different products cater to different group of people with different expectations and eventually the S11 denotation. Assuming that budget is not a problem, we could always do a R&D type and ask PHD holders to do thesis for such needs. There will never be a 100% product which caters to 100% consumers. It is true even in the case of Intel Vs AMD. Did Intel clinch 100% market shares?

Long run wise i would still invest in a better camera if situation allows me, providing that there is 1 in the market to meet the needs. By the way usual warranty even if you buy in Singapore is 1yr, so even if you buy from any shop and battery bloats also, what do you think you can do? It is only probably better becos you have "someone" whom you believe that you can seek help from. Tio bo....

I noticed a lot of u guys having problem with milo can lagging using class 4 microsd.

You have to use at least a class 6 to eliminate the lag and reduce the interval gap of 3 seconds to 0.5seconds. Or better still use class 10, but i can't find it even though I searched the whole SLS.

Yes. But Class 6 Sandisk is even harder to find as distributors are not carrying it anymore (probably due to profit margin). As I mentioned when I went PC Show few weeks ago.

same here using class 4 sandisk. < 1 sec lag.

think if you are using class 4, maybe should stick w the better brands like Sandisk.

I am also using the "milo can" DVR.

I first used a Sandisk Class 4 4GB microSD. The flicker/lag occurred at intervals of 7 or 14 seconds.

Then I used Kingston Class 4 8GB microSD, the flicker/lag occurred every 3 sec. Tolerable but irritating. Thought a Sandisk Class 4 8GB might be better, but disappointed as flicker still occurs every 3 sec.

Anyone can expain why there is difference in flicker interval times for same class 4?

Unfortunately the 4GB card is too low capacity for my daily drive time.

i wonder why there isnt a good phone app tt can also do surveillance n record road trips all in one package.

eg. if someone attempt to jack ur car...ur phone has accelo meter will detects n sen an sms to ur phone u carry.

or with 3g it can act like a ip cam for u to chk whats going around ur car.

with gps it can also record locations of events.

    any developer here?

    just a scenario....

let say i go jb n park in a shopping center w my car armed with a phone(apps installed).

phone cont. recording while i leave the car. I can see what happening ard my car anytime thru the cam phone in the car.

then a crook came n jack my car. detecting a shock(accelorameter)or motion(gps), phone will alert u with a massage to the
phone u carrying. u can then see what happening to ur car.

let say the crook did not know what the phone in the car doing there, ur car position will be updated constantly. but if the crook
suspect n s/w off phone, all video n sounds recorded will be captured n uploaded to a server where u can log in and retrieve.

not sure if there is any car security sys tt comes close in terms of functionality and at a price of a phone s/w n a smart phone.

i think its not impossible. just need a engineer to write the codes n sell as an apps.

    Like the idea.

The eastgear one is very professional, especially if you run a fleet of vehicles or in transport business. Although it may not have a "shock"/"motion"/"surveillance camera" alert feature which the proposed phone app is can leverage on.. It may also be rather overkill to be implemented on home-use vehicles.

However, the apple/android app idea will be cheaper in terms of hardware(low end smartphone <$500), software(phone app is usually cheaper) and subscription cost ($10 data plan standalone).

But I'm skeptical on the phone's "Accelerometer" capability to detect shock. Don't think it will alert anything softer than a 1 degree earthquake, as I remember needing to shake my phone to see significant effect of the accelerometer. :P

I think the automated "Shock SMS" function is important as both "Surveillance cam" and "GPS" alone will not be sufficient for your purpose illustrated in your JB shopping example. Because it is not reasonable for you to permanently logging in your device and looking at your phone video while shopping.

After so long, I haven't taken the plunge. But after meeting a series of idiotic drivers who think they are F1 drivers but are really lousy drivers, and that my car is so small that it seriously doesn't need any space on the road, I've decided to bite the bullet.

But hope somecone can help me on this. I was actually quite keen to get the VisionDrive, but I was told by the local dealer that VD3000 is no longer in stock. I was told that VD5000W and VD 7000W are also high def, but when I checked the specs, they are not leh. What does WDR lenses mean? And are the later models high definition?

Phone accelerometer should be very sensitive. I think yours maybe need to repair. Mine I had an app where you can arm the phone so that when it detects any movement the phone alarm will sound. Put on the desk and set to the most sensitive setting. When I started typing the phone alarm turned on. lol.

If u are familiar with Android platform phones, there are such free apps.
Can sense movement and send sms, email or both.
U can also have an app that runs as a web cam.

Not telling my wife my phone got this ability though...

    hi guys,

I've been following this topic for some time. I even bought the 'milo camera'; thanks to adrian's reviews and video samples. :)

but I wanna check something with you:

mine came with a small cd. Apparently, this cd contains the firmware update or something. But so far the camera functions well, without that update... So I am inclined NOT to do the firmware update. Is this firmware thingy any good or not.? a must?

One more question: Do we need to do anything to enhance the recording at night?

Adrian, your cam's night time recordings are very good; is it the default recording mode or do you press any 'additional' buttons to enhance the night recording? Since the instruction manual's English sucks big time... I've thought asking the experts here would give me a clearer picture. blush.gif

The installation of the cd contents (camera driver) is for the purpose of reading the memory card when you connect it to the PC. Otherwise your PC will not be able to detect the camera connected. If you use other methods to access your memory card contents, then no need.

Bu holding the "record" button for 2 secs, you can activate infra-red mode and you will see a "sun-moon" logo on your screen. However, whether it makes any difference, I don't know.

Anyway, yesterday's video I taken. Speeding vehicle can't see its car plate. But I had memorised the car plate number so TP will be investigating :

Jus got to know Foon Audio now having a promotion for BlackVue$288/-. I've no issue clanking my car when i came back from hk. My recorder was left running 24/7 for 5days.

Is it running directly from the car battery? What size SD/microSD needed to capture 24hr x 5days recording?

get the 16gb microsd card for 24/7 recording. the power magic will monitor your battery power, so dun have to worry about a discharged battery. $288 is a good price. still waiting for what?

Get Class 10 Micro SD is much better and stable... !! see my previous post ..

I got it and problem solved !

Thanks for your advice & reply. Earlier I had problem finding out where to buy Class 6 or 10 microSd. A few days ago I bought one 8GB Class10 at the shop you mentioned and the result is much better .... flicker/lag virtually gone!

For me 8GB is ideal (since about 80 minutes recording covers my average to & fro daily trips) as downloading 16GB just to locate & view one or two 2-minute clips is too time consuming. Anyway if really needed I can remove that memory card and load a spare 4 or 8 GB.

Now I need advice on how to shorten the 2 minutes clip to the relevant segment before uploading to youtube. Is it possible to join two adjoining clips, which show continuation of the same incident, before uploading?

U can also have an app that runs as a web cam.

Adrian, your cam's night time recordings are very good; is it the default recording mode or do you press any 'additional' buttons to enhance the night recording? Since the instruction manual's English sucks big time... I've thought asking the experts here would give me a clearer picture. blush.gif

It was default recording mode. Did not press the infra red button.

That Subaru zoomed past so fast, any 30fps camera definately unable to capture the license plate. U will need a slow motion capture camera to capture these kind of images, I guess in the region of few hundred fps camera. Watch Discovery Time Warp.

    Something like this :

Nope, it cant. Its just a simple plug n play HD car camera. Very little options for u to adjust. In fact only two options, select VGA or HD and turn on or off IR.

I do not have the GSE580 on hand at the moment so cant tell u much. Read the specs n d/l the manual.

As for price, I read that its between low S$300 to mid S$300. Depends on where n which vendor u get from. Shops closer to the factory will be cheaper, shops further away from factory, more expensive.

But I would say, Taiwanese are really tops in customer service. If u confirm u want something, they will personally go out of their way to get it for u and charge u the same price as retail. Thatz what I experience there. In SG, the shops will add in their transport cost n labour cost unless u know the shop owner.

recording mode automatically and start recording.

It seems on the high end side and carries a well known company name (Honeywell) - and interestingly manufactured in Korea.
Appeals to me for the design and hopefully much more reliable.
