Sandisk 16GB Class 6 SDHC where got? I went IT Show just now everyone don't carry class 6. Either class 4 or 10 only. How? What microsd card do you guys recommend to buy for milo can recorder?

I am using Sandisk 4GB Class 4 microSD card. Going to buy 8GB later.

Yes, it works. I am using it now. Will stick to Class 4. No need to go for Class 6 or Class 10.

I intend to use it as front surveillance cam. 4/8 gb seems to small under HD recording while 32gb pricing is too high a step compared to 16gb tier. Class4 per video lag rate is roughly how many seconds. Im thinking if don't have sandisk class 6 16gb, then need to get 16gb class 10 already, since the vendors there the next tier after their class 4 is class 10

Let me know if you see any booths selling sandisk microsd cards at the show that is cheaper than outside.

Price is good but I read the description that u have to manually press record to start the camera recording process.

Most ppl, including myself, would like it to auto record once u start ur car engine.

Will check with the vendor later. Otherwise its a no go for me. BTW I dont need another GPS. Already have Nuvi 200(malsing map), HU GPS(tele atlas maps) and HP GPS(ovi maps). laugh.gif

For prolong hours of video recording (for vehicle video recorders), you need a high quality memory card (SDHC or microSDHC) like Made-in-Japan ones from Toshiba or Sandisk.

Else, it might failed you when you need the video for claims...dun play play..

Does anybody have the same problem as me? I got 2 HD720P cameras in my two cars. I had it installed so that it would record 24hours even when the engines are not running. After using the cameras for a while, I noticed they have the habit of switching off by themselves. On quite a few occasions I would flip down the LCD screen to find that the cameras has gone off and is therefore not recording anything. Pressing the ON/OFF switches would turn the cameras on and it would behave normal for a few days till it goes off again automatically. I even tried opening the cameras and sure enough, the enclosed batteries were bloated. I removed the batteries and put the cameras back into the cars and the auto switching off problems persist. I am thinking of getting new cameras but am concerned I would encounter similar problems again. Any advice?

I cannot understand some consumer's behaviour.

Getting a made-in-china video recorder cost min. S$120~150. It is not a small sum. One could actually bring the whole family for a good meal.

Then, I see many people put away their MIC purchase after using for a short while and start getting another MIC one later.

So, is it more affordable to make many purchases of MIC recorders or get a reliable recorder ONE time from a company with 1 year warranty?

Same goes for SDHC cards. Why go for 2nd/3rd tier brands MIC memory cards, just becoz they are 20% cheaper?

Guess most of time, these people end up paying alot more for such purchases......

    Some insights to share...

Not any recorders can function as a vehicle recorder.

Is it safe to have missing footages?

Is it okay for the video recorder to hang suddenly?

Guess, the savings from MIC is not worth it when you missed out any important video footage for accident claims ....

    Food for thoughts!

So which ONE recorder can meet all the below features???

    1) HD recording
    2) LCD screen
    3) Wide angle lens
    4) Auto IR(for nite recording)
    5) Contrast, White balance n EV adjustable
    6) Recording interval adjustable
    7) Surveillance mode(motion detection)
    8) GPS
    9) Shock sensor
    10) Low batt consumption less than 2 watt
    11) Sleek/compact design
    12) Double tape mounting(vibration resistant/heat resistant)
    13) Up to 4 or 5 channel recording(for 360 coverage)
    14) Compatible video format for law enforcement/insurance

If you can name me this camera with all these features, I will buy that camera right now. So far in my past 4-5yrs of buying car cameras, yet to find one that meet with the above specs. Consumer has to look at his needs n purchase accordingly.

P.S every single item is MIC nowadays. If its not the complete product, it will be a component of that product. biggrin.gif

I am a product planning by vocation. So, just to share some points with you...

All the 14 features you mentioned cost money. You need to prioritise them (rank 1 ~14), in terms what you needed most.

    For example:-
If you want feature 1~5, you probably pay $250
If you want feature 1~9, you probably need to pay $250+200
If you want all features in, you need to pay $250+200+250
(Note: The amount is a fictitious number based on $50 per feature)

To be realistic, most of us here would not want to pay all of the features.

So, end of the day, it is really about "pay what you need" and NOT "want all Cheap Cheap".
??????????When people say "cheap things dun come good", it is really true for me.

Thatz why I always say get something that meets ur needs now until someone/some company come out with this car camera.

If its not the complete product, it will be a component of that product. biggrin.gif

I would not be impressed even it is 14.

Some of the features are not even useful on S'pore roads.

Personally, I dun want to pay for features like GPS, Motion sensor, impact sensor, etc
Those are really waste of time on our roads....

By the way, all models (so far) with GPS/ Impact sensor feature comes with own software. You can't play them on free playware.

GPS : Able to indicate ur speed embedded in the video
Motion Sensor : For surveillance mode
Impact Sensor : Will show that something did cause the car body to move esp when someone scratching ur car.

The maker can develop so that the video and data are independent of each other. And then create a software that will combine both and create a accident/incident report. Not that difficult.

Have told users he many times, get a car camera with LCD screen. Basic car camera should have :

    1) HD recording
    2) Wide angle lens
    3) LCD screen

Totally agreed with you. Must have LCD.
    1) you will know whether is your camera working
    2) is the power on/off
    3) is your SD card working (Mine siao siao. Every 1month ask me to re-format. saying card full)

True True.. my Xdriven DRS1100PRO also give quite accurate stats..

However, it is only 1280 x 960 resolution.. Not True HD... Haiz..

Bro Adrianli, if you are doing up a MO for the DOD - GSE580, pls include me in as I am looking to upgrade my front cam to a clearer / sharper one...

    hi MCF,

Just my opinion. I bought a cheap car recorder from ebay for about $80 (from a hongkong popular seller).

Worked pretty okay until one fine day, it does not work anymore.

I gave up and bought Garmin nuvi 2575R (recorder + GPS) at the PC show last weekend.

KNS, I discovered it is not my cheap ebay recorder broken, but my cigarette adaptor no power.

Then I go workshop repair. CB, the technician told me the fuse has blown, and he suggested that the culprit could be the recorder power jack. True enough, he plugged in the cheap ebay power jack, and the fuse blew up.

People, becareful of buying any cheap stuff. Doesn't worth my time and effort.

So far, I am happy with my Garmin. Will post FR when I try it out a longer time.

fret not. here are the pointers

    1) You just need to confirm car battery size. usual ones are 45Ah. unless yours is a continental car.
    2) find out the power consumption of the recorder (note: 1Ah = 1000mAh)
    3) Find out the cranking power required by your engine. (usually, 70% of the battery size)
    4) From there, you can find out how many hours your recorder can operate
    e.g. (100%-70%)= 30% x 45Ah = 13.5Ah/xxxmAh = xx hrs before you encounter problem cranking the engine.

Note: Older batteries discharges faster than newer batteries. hence, you need to leave more Ah buffer when the battery is close to a year old.

Hope the above information helps. Cheers

What makes things worse is that I see a large air bubble the size of the suction cup is formed on my solar film! Wah lau eh... Is it that the top part of the solar film cannot stick things one or the milocan camera suction cup is "too strong" already?

Mine still in place since day one. Mon-Fri indoor parking Sat-Sun outdoor parking. The suction mount is best among all the car cameras I have.

Spot on! I sticked on those dotted part at the top beside my rear mirror as I thought it can minimise my vision blockage and put higher shoot clearer! I thought no difference sticking on dark part or clear part. Cry....

Why dark dotted part cannot stick things huh? My GPS stick on the the clear part 1 year also no problem...

you are better off with the blackvue. $500 is just too expensive. the DOD cameras also not bad. less than $500.

the suckers work on vacuum ... if there are dots along the edge of the plastic sucker, there will not be a 'good' vacuum to hold it onto the windscreen.

Ok. Yesterday I shifted to stick at clear area directly below rear mirror. No problem keeping it sticked on.

And the giant air bubble. It disappeared on its own. Lucky~

Ok. Anyway, yesterday I stick the milo cam at a clear area directly below rear mirror (center). Do you think that position is ok from a video-ing perspective?

I have to forward facing camera. DOD F900LHD on the left of the rear view mirror and DRS1100PRO on the right of the rear view mirror.

As long as u have full coverage, it should be alright. But having two cameras is a better option. biggrin.gif

I see. So you placed your camera at left/right of the mirror area. That's where I initially put as I think the image is good, but too bad that area is the "dotted" part of my solar film so can't stick there as per my previous postings.

Hmm.. I think I have full coverage. I just centralise the whole thing, and made sure the image are straight (i.e. I adjust the cam (rotate up/down) direction such that roads appear flat instead of curve). However, centralising the image to make road appear straight has a disadvantage. More dashboard area will appear in the image if you get what I mean. But I prefer that over minimising dashboard area in the image which will result in camera focusing on the 'horizon' instead of 'road'.
