Just renew my insurance with direct-asia. They give additional 4% discount for car with camera recorder.

The term is you must provide them the accident footage else there will be a penalty of 1.5k.

Like this I must zhng 4 in my car then. sly.gif

    Hi Bros of MiloCans.. laugh.gif

I just found out tat Kingston 16GB Class 4 SDHC does give problems when used with the Milo Can cam (at least in my case it does..)

Have tried using another Sandisk 8GB Class 6 SDHC, and this time it works! Phew! (tot my set is RMA liao... sad.gif )

Will explore further with the tin can and hopefully can post some vids along the way.. stay tuned! smile.gif

I presume your "Milo can" uses microSD. Please let us know where Sandisk class 6 microSD can be bought and what is the price. Do they sell class 10 ones? Thanks.

My friend just replaced his China made DVR with flip down screen to Black Vue. He told me the China made one sometimes has missing video or delay in recording. Kind of scary, imagine if the accident really happens and not recorded!!
I saw the actual product this morning in his car, very small and sleek, the cool thing is that it has voice guides (lady voice) when you power ON and OFF, image quality is clear and sharp. I have yet to see the actual size for Caidrox but I think Black Vue is much smaller with the cylindrical design. Itchy liao.....:P
Milo can is cheap but the design and shape is weird leh. :)

note that blackvue only record at 640 x 480. the recording quality is so so only

Finally decided on a blackvue gps. image qty not bad at all...crispy clear both day n nite. Think BV are on some kind of high compression technology which can offer better than stated VGA quality. Other than that, BV design is great and blend in nicly in my car. Liked the blue LED glow at one end... can turn on and off LED using setting via software. happy.gif happy.gif happy.gif

Ya, the Milo Can only use micro sd.

The Sandisk micro SDHC can be bought anywhere... my version is the ultra mobile one and rated for class 6. Think the price drop liao..

    Hi all,

I think if you use the higher class Micro SDHC cards with the Milo Can camera, the lag between each 2 min clip is minimal.

I viewed the clips, using my Sandisk 8GB Class 6 SDHC, and there was no time or video loss between each 2 min clip.

    Press Release
Drivers who install an in-car camera pay less for their insurance

    Release date: 29 Apr 2011

DirectAsia.com has launched an innovative scheme to reward customers who install a camera in their car.

We will offer customers a reduced premium if they equip their car with a special camera that takes continual footage of their journey.

In the event of an accident the recorded evidence will enable us to settle claims fast and fairly.

Nicolas Faquet, Principal Officer of DirectAsia.com, said: "This will protect the good driver from having to share liability when there is not sufficient evidence to determine who is at fault at the time of the accident."

Customers will also get a heavily discounted price on the VisionDrive? Black Box camera which features a shock sensor, GPS sensor, and Video Analyzer.
The launch of this new program is part of DirectAsia.com's mission to encourage and reward safe driving in Singapore.

    Hi all Milo Can fans,

I have uploaded 2 clips from the Milo Can..

    1) ---> switch to 720p. This is day scene.

This is the raw unprocessed AVI file from the camera

    2) ---> this is nite scene , and note that the video quality drops to 480

I have done a bit of title addition to this video, otherwise this vid is from the cam too.

So, its clear that nite shots are not the strong point for this cam. But nonetheless, I am happy with the price I paid for this cam and the numerous functions it has ( as compared to my older UFO car cam).

Guys, check this out. brickhouse rear view car camera with 5 channels

This just looks like a very big rear view mirror, but it has the camera hidden in it. Can have up to 5 video channels which you view on the rear view mirror itself. Should be quite good in low light conditions cos the min is 0.1lux, but I'm not so sure about whether it's HD or not.

Funny thing is, it's a US company but the videos loaded are all from Taiwan. Dubious?

Bro Adrian, you can check this out and maybe you can activate 5 of your cameras at the same time. wink.gif

Already in HD mode and night vision turned on liao la...

Night vision is limited in distance and only useful within <= 3m.. use in moving car is not useful la...

HD already on.. and those with some knowledge in video, will know that night presents problems bec of low light, and the camera will either have to increase sensitivity --> increase in noise, or cannot take clearer vids in normal sensitivity mode.. This Milo Can cannot adjust the light sensitivity one.. and I think is the same for all other current car cams too..

Unless u put spotlight on your car backside and turn it on when u are driving, i doubt any car cam u use at night can capture vids as clear as day... For frontal use, i think better bec got headlight ma, but i use this Milo Cam for my back only.. dry.gif

Hi, i am looking at installing car recorder for both front and rear of my car.
Key things i look out for are:
-Resolution must be good and clear for both day and night playback.
-Auto lock function upon impact to prevent accidental erasure of image due to looping.
-Motion sensor for surveillance when car is stationery.
-Sleek design that integrates, not bulky ones with flip screen please.
-GPS logger at least for one of the units.

Hope to get the above front and rear camera at a budget of 1k or less inclusive installation.
I know there are lots of models in the market but only looking at trial and tested ones by forumers.
Hope someone can help me as i am abit confuse after going through the posts.. wacko.gif

Hmmm..judging from the specs this seems what i want except it looks kinda bulky.
Maybe i should fix this in front and have something else without GPS logger behind huh..?
Alternatively i should cancel the whole idea of surveillance requirement and stick to slim design of DOD GS300 or GS600...?

Yeah, this footage showed exactly why u need a car camera with LCD screen. Did u notice part of the footage, the couples were not captured??? Tis is because this car camera does not come with LCD screen so the user does not actually know what he had captured. Only when he review it on the PC, then he knows he missed the action!!!

A car camera with LCD screen, u can have a glance what is captured. Otherwise adjust the camera accordingly. biggrin.gif

Otherwise adjust the camera accordingly. biggrin.gif

Have told users he many times, get a car camera with LCD screen. Basic car camera should have :

    1) HD recording
    2) Wide angle lens
    3) LCD screen

    Do shop wisely. sleep.gif

Thats my thinking and deciding factor also on buying Car DVR, must have LCD screen but then need
    to sacrifice on size.

    erm... just for sharing.

when i was in taiwan for holidays, i bought the dod f500lhd (comes with wide lens capability), personally i think it is not a bad camera.

one bad thing would be the windscreen mount, after sticking it onto the windscreen under a hot sun for a long period, it became non-sticky.

thus, for those whom worried about a suitable location to put the camera, i suggest buying those bean bag mount which is meant for gps usage. i personally find it not bad.

u remind me something when u mentioned Taiwan...

    The milo can design camera...

I saw it being advertised on their tv channel (they got one channel for such high tech products and all those paid advertising, something like TV channel network...)

The milo can design camera was marketed under marabella...yes, the GPS brand.

They make the marketing so solid, even had a short scene to market how come a camera is required, how good it is, what does it meant...etc etc...

Retailing for NT 3900.... plus plus...
    if i rem correctly...

This DOD GSE580 just upped the ante for me.. Now its recording at 1080P.. Woo Hoo! inlove.gif

Once my current front camera kaput, I'll be going for this one! rolleyes.gif

Just a ques.. If we had already connected our current front camera to the fuze box/car battery like you did, then do we need to redo the cable connection again when we change the front camera to other models? Will the difference (if any) in elec requirement for other car cams matter, that we need to do recabling?

Hope you can kindly advise... Thanks bro! smile.gif

Every car camera has different input voltage. Some are 12V and some are 5V. The car supply is 12V.

So if ur current car camera is using 5V, then the next camera is 12V, u will have to change the wiring at the fuse box accordingly.

But if ur current car camera is using 5V, ur next camera is also 5V, then no change is required.

Can't help but say it is a fact that China products are usually of inferior quality and durability esp for the domestic market.

I used to station in Shanghai for a few years and household electronics break down frequently and consistently to the point that I bring some of my own from Singapore.

I even have microwave exploding and this is no joke. Until they improve (give them another 5-10 yrs), I would refrain from buying a China product.

Please dun flame me as I am just speaking from experience.

Just installed blackvue DR300. i connected the video output to my DVD headunit.
The rear view is laterally inverted, meaning the kerb though on my LHS will be shown on the RHS in my DVD monitor.

The installer told me that is because vehicle black box is designed for the front. Hence image is laterally inverted once you shoot to the rear. Is that true or am I missing anything? sad.gif

Based on this logic then what the installer said is true. I am just wondering for the 300 gadget would there be a function to laterally invert the image so that it is seen from the viewpoint of the driver through the rear view mirror wor.

My first in-car recorder was a China made model and have been using it for three years w/o any problem.

Having seven car camera so far, none of them has broken down on me.

The only thing that "breaks down" with these car camera is the suction cup mount. Over years, the rubber will harden but I guess thatz normal wear and tear. Even my Garmin GPS suction mount also same problem. I just paste 3M heavy duty double tape on the suction cup and stick it to the windscreen.

According to my knowledge, these cheaper one are not true HD. Look at the specs carefully, if the resolution is 1280x720, it's true HD, if the resolution is 1280x960 Interpolation, it's fake. Another thing to take note is the time stamp. True HD time stamp is black with white background, and those cheap ones are in green.

According to the info given by this ebay seller 'estore009', there r 2 model under the same DVR. one is DVR-027, one is DVR-047. Did a search on these 2 on youtube, below r the example

U will need a camera placed outside the car. All in-car cameras will not be able to catch a vandal in the act of scratching the sides of ur car.

I seen a car camera that is build into the side mirror of the car. It will be able to capture the act being committed but would not be able to capture the face of the vandal.

The best is have one camera placed above ur car in the car park itself to capture such vandals.

    Hi all,

I think if you use the higher class Micro SDHC cards with the Milo Can camera, the lag between each 2 min clip is minimal.

I viewed the clips, using my Sandisk 8GB Class 6 SDHC, and there was no time or video loss between each 2 min clip.

Sandisk 16GB Class 6 SDHC where got? I went IT Show just now everyone don't carry class 6. Either class 4 or 10 only. How? What microsd card do you guys recommend to buy for milo can recorder?

But frankly, this side mirror camera will not be able to capture the face of the vandal. When vandals scratch, they just walk past the side of ur car with a sharp object. Where got ppl look down on the door as they scratch???

So this side mirror camera is able to capture the scratching action but not able to capture the face of the suspect.
