Hi Adrian. Tompang one question: Does the Black View come with a tripod mount? Thanks.

Nope, there isnt any. There is just one slot on top of the cam. The provided mount slots into the hole and clips it in place.

I think for tripod mount car cam, only DOD-tec has them. Cos they are designed to be used as car cam and personal camera too.
  • 15 September 2011 - 08:52 AM
    Adrianli

or you want one with interchangeable lens? how about zoom lens that can zoom to 200mm?

Get urself a DOD-tec car cam, it has tripod mount. Yes, it also has magnetic interchangeable macro/wide angle lens. These are optional. Those who bought from Parkingidiot the F500HD will know, he was able to bargain for us lots of freebies from DOD-tec. Thatz why I hate it when "those" big agents start jumping in on the bandwagon.

Better keep quiet otherwise u making a fool of urself. laugh.gif Hokkien saying, kiang tio hor, mai kay kiang. laugh.gif

I tot it should be cheaper there cos lots of shops selling it. Then ask ur fren go to the shophouse stores outside Guan Hwa, thatz where my bro got it for me. NT6990. biggrin.gif

But I think if go to shops near the factory in Tainan, it could be as low as NT6000!!! Because for r/c stuff, the shops near the factory in Tainan are selling it for S$50 cheaper than shops in Taipei. wink.gif

The mount is the same for all DOD-tec car cam. My current F900LHD is mounted next to my rearview mirror. In fact I have using the F500HD mount n my F900LHD mount is still in the box. laugh.gif

Not sure of the shops there. Just walk in to any of them and buy if the price is rite. I already posted the price which my bro got for me. See if my bro still got the receipt when he pass me the GSE580, then I scan it n post it here.

Yes currently i feel the built is solid as it has metalic finishing, the video is full hd 1080p , dsx1080sp is also good for its size and full hd too.
I have a new full hd model coming by today , will test out & see if it beats all the previous models haha

Normally, those car cam w/o screen, they have indicative lights to show that it is turned on/recording/standby.

Only thing is u dont know if u had captured the action in front if u had adjusted the camera while cleaning it/taking out the SD card/fixing it when new.

I am no businessman and got no business mind. So I prefer to do it(collecting car cam) as a hobby instead. laugh.gif

Same thing ppl tell me when I started to rear fish. I have five fish tanks at home, only two occupied.

Same thing ppl tell me when I started to play r/c heli. I have eight r/c helis now.

Same thing ppl tell me when I started to play r/c boat. I have five r/c boats now.

I prefer to keep these things as a hobby and its a way to not thing of work or sometimes occupy my mind with these hobbies when at work. laugh.gif

    Hi Guys,

Was wondering how you guys connect the cam directly to your car battery?

    1) Lay a cable with fuse from the battery all the way inside your car.
    2) Connect it to a female cigarette socket. From there, you plug in the car charger provided by the cam.

Is this the correct way to do it? Thanks. :)

Hi Bro Adrianli, I got my BLACKVIEW cam just 5 hours ago. Tested it out. In terms of size...its very much smaller than the milocan.

BUt one thing i find irritating about this cam is that every start of recording, it will have a repeated msg telling you the camera have started recording, please drive safely (correct me if i am wrong ?)... do you have this ? or can you advise if you have found a method to remove this?

Nite recording wise, i think is on par with the milocan, or maybe slightly better.

Size wins hands down..no doubts about it.

There are alot of settings to play with...maybe i got too used to idiot proof milocan liao that i prefer just a plug and play....

During recording time...if u pressed the ''record'' button long enough...you are able to zoom in closer, or if u press camera button, zoom out... NOT BAD... BUt do note, should be interpolation when zooming in....

This cam able to dicate whether you want, 1 min, 2 mins, 3 mins, 5 mins or 10 mins (if i rem correctly) loop recording.
Basically, a 8GB Class 4 card able to get you 2 hours, 22 mins approx worth of recording.

At this price, nothing much to complain about...

    Worthy buy...

I now waiting for my 16 GB Class 10, micro SD card to arrive only.

    1. $10 DISCOUNT OFF dealextreme price for all LATEST models (3 weeks old: Reference from the snapshot below, dated 31th of July 2011) Price will be calculated based PayPal's conversion rate.

    1. $10 DISCOUNT OFF dealextreme price for all LATEST models (3 weeks old: Reference from the snapshot below, dated 31th of July 2011) Price will be calculated based PayPal's conversion rate.
    E.g. DX price 90USD, PayPal conversion rate 1.267. Total price in SGD 90x1.267 - $10 DISCOUNT = $104.03

    2. EXACT pricing for models which are more than 3 weeks old (unless otherwise stated upon confirmation due to many models with similar outlook but difference in lens/firmware/chip used).
A good example will be Blackview offered by DX which the firmware is v1.0, the quality is very poor due to old firmware. Ours are the lastest firmware 1.1 with better video quality.

E.g. DX price 90USD, PayPal conversion rate 1.267. Total price in SGD 90x1.267 = $114.03

Model posted date can be found at the end of DX product description.
    http://imageshack.us...7/unledrgz.jpg/
NO HIDDEN COST! Simply PM me the DX link and conversion will be calculate using the latest PayPal rate and ENJOY $10 OFF for the latest model.

Warranty scheme will be the same as DX warranty policy.
Simply return me the defective set and i will ship it back for replacement.
BRAND NEW replacement set will be given back to you. All items come with MINIMUM 3 month warranty, even if DX offer lower. Otherwise it will be same as DX 1 year manufacturer warranty.
Due to non-popular request, NO DISCOUNT will be given for old models.
In cases where extra stock for the selected model have been sold out, restock will usually come in within 5 working days after confirmation on order. NO NEED to wait 2-3 weeks as compared to direct purchase from DX.

The buttons are much better than the previous models. Its using microUSB plug so previous USB wires cannot be used on this GSE580. It accepts standard SD card size.

Got my DOD-tec GSE580 yesterday from my bro. First look, build quality is good. It feels like those compact cameras, the buttons also feels solid and not "loose" like its previous models. I think they really look into good quality materials used for this model. There are quite a lot of stuff to set in the menu. They added the following useful functions :

    1) Screen save, u can set up to 1min to auto switch off the LCD screen
    2) USB out, u can set the cam to record until its internal batt flat after u turn off power supply(engine)
    3) Motion sensor, u can set the recording time and its sensitivity
    4) OSD for GPS coordinates and speed, u can select to turn on or off
    5) OSD for overspeed, u can set the speed limit, if its over the set limit, it will just indicate "---". TP submission frenly. laugh.gif
    6) Set ur own car plate number to be displayed on video like watermark for ur videos
    7) Mic can be set to turn off or on.

The captured video is sharp and much clearer than DOD-tec previous models, I guess they changed to a much better lens. I could see the front license plate up to thre car lengths away in the daytime recorded video. The GPS dont seem to work on my unit this morning even when I had my OSD switched on. Not sure why. Have to play ard to find out more.

Video can be found here :

The only downside I can think off now is its size. It is abt the size of F500HD but its thicker. My bro is complaining abt the size. But if well placed, it should be hidden from view as its colour is black. Also the USB port is pretty weird, never seen such port b4. Look at the pics.

Here are the pics for u guys :

The good thing abt DOD-tec products is they come with international one year warranty. The vendor told my bro to send the set back to him if there are any problems. This vendor also has an online shop, if u guys wana buy from him, can check out his name card.

I have attached the name card, receipt and warranty card. biggrin.gif

thanks for the review, bro adrianli..

the day video is really sharp... and not "fisheye" distortion. looks like a regular video-cam type recording. i only noticed that one or two "pause" throughout the sample!

    but it is rather bulky.

strong plus is as you mentioned earlier... can be used as a camera

so many FHD options now.. it will come down to build quality, reliability and support.., and the price of course.

    bro...

U can access the volume setting only if you have started recording

Correct me if i am wrong, i hv only played with the unit for half hour only

Start your recording, then press the power switch, it will bring you to options menu.

From there, u can access which files to delete N also play with the volume
dont bother to look at the menu.

It s**ks big time without any explaination on why that is required..

Hey chris, correct me if I am wrong, do you own a physical shop?
As I recalled you asking me to go down to your blk at punggol for viewing...
As a consumer myself, & being a previous customer of yours, I felt that it doesn't really matter whether it's a shop-based or freelance provider. It only takes $50 to register a company, so it doesn't really make a difference.
As long as I am able to purchase good product, with good after sale service at the lowest price.. I am ok with it.
And like I mentioned before, you should managed your pricing scheme ethically. I am rather upset to see the recent price slash within a short time frame, as I purchased from you at a relatively high price.

I do not own a shop. That will be quite stupid as the rent will cause my prices to go up. Sengkang not punggol. I already told you that I have no choice to slash my price to follow DE as I am losing customers to them and if I don't do this, ppl will just buy from them. Also can you can see, there is another vendor who is slashing even more than me from the first time he posted. Those who bought from him when he just start to sell, will also be angry but there is really no choice as its really competitive but I stop at lowering more as there is a limit to lowering prices and affecting service or aftersale service.

As for your case, I am really sorry. I will offer you a good discounts for any other products that you might be interested from me. Don't worry, I do not slash prices for my other products at all before. This is the first time that I am doing this slashing of price due to competition from overseas site.

Specs should be same as milo can size cam. But I think its of similar size only looks more funky???

I prefer the Blackview for budget car cam as it gives u more options to adjust different settings. But thatz me lah. Some ppl just want a plug n play car cam wif nothing to adjust like my bro.

Thanks for the quick review. Waiting for your night video.

one qns: how is the auto exposure for this cam, I know some cant meter the scene well causing too bright or dark scene....night video will show how good is the dynamic range of the sensor.

These few days will not be driving at night so no night videos for the moment. Wed may be driving at night. We'll see then. biggrin.gif

Not sure why but after using for two days the GSE580, the GPS still could not be activated during my driving ard. So just now I just turn the camera on and record outside my flat next to my window. It took slightly more than an hour to register the GPS coordinates on the video!!! Maybe initial activation of GPS need longer time. Lets see whether it does stamp on my video tmr when I drive to work. idea.gif

Paid at a price 85% higher than current price, but only comes with a shorter warranty period of 3 months.
Ironic, Isn't It? Given up, anyway want one with motion detector now..

Anyway came across this for the easycar 2 way alarm:
    http://www.aliexpres...holesalers.html
Thought of ordering from here and installation at workshop at $60.
Savings of $150+ compared to local vendors laugh.gif

Anyone tried it is it good?

U can try ordering fr there but be prepared that there is no stocks for this model. No stocks fr manufacturer. We still have stocks with us. Also installation is never at $60 plus not all workshop can install this system. We are selling and installing this system with 12 mths warranty plus 1 to 1 exchange if faulty. For car alarms, if the workshop is not familiar to this alarm, be prepared to have problems later on. What's the point of installing at outside workshop and if it's faulty, pay extra to get it uninstall and then shipped back for repair and wait for supplier to shipped it back and spend money to install back. U do the maths, not worthwhile. Plus our sets are all IDA approved for Singapore use. I strongly advised u in buying this alarm fr overseas. Not bcos I sell them but years of selling car alarms, there are always cases of problem sets with lousy installation.

My advice for car alarms is get from local distributors. Either us or others. Really no point in getting fr online shop cheaper but u will encounter problems later on and no one to help or assist u. If u get fr me, I will give u a very special price.

one thing i don't like about the f900 is the mount they provide.. as you car go over something..the videos shake

the gse580 is better... you can even make out the car plate numbers from left most lane.

now for the night videos... biggrin.gif

Thanks for the offer but no thanks, have found an authorized workshop which sell this model and provide installation too and they are willing to install my set from Ali. Express with warranty at $70, still can save 150+, and have checked with aliexpress that they have ready stock and is the same from Korea. Warranty is also 1 year heh. :)
