There is a risk in everything we do. Everyday, we are driving above 60km/hr on normal road is already taking a risk of being caught...

Don't worry got quite a few x trail users here whom read this thread to see what mod they do and we can also implement it on our x trail too.

Hi B065, maybe will be good to test drive Harrier whether it suites your driving style. My friend driving the 2L version complaint that the power is lagging. Don't be mistaken, I am not saying QQ is good or Harrier is no good. But just sharing with you from what I heard so that you will be better informed before you decide.
I believe sharing is caring, no matter whether there's differences in our opinion.

If you share negative albeit true experiences / opinions about the QQ, your post will get disliked. Richard always dislike my posts one :)

Thanks Richard for the efforts and costs spent to pursue this for QQ owners. Appreciate and respect the risks of first movers like you. :a-m1212:

    Hey SLAQQ,

No problem and thanks for the kind words. I had wanted it also for my qashqai and yes, disappointed but the journey was good and getting Nissan part no. database and all their drawings as a result.

Hope to report back the inner lock with catch works out ok when I receives the cable and door lock next week from my China manager. Unfortunately, the inner lock with catch is not integrated with 1 cable but 2 cables and I needed to buy the cable together with the main lock. Hope to find the main lock is the same and we should be able to get the 2nd cable locally and just buy the inner lock with catch ..finger crossed but this is really not for me but bros with younger kids but wish to avoid the tedious child lock.

And there is also the auto electric tail gate thst vezel already have been retrofitted with .....

    Cheers.

    Hi Audi2016,

Sigh ... not sure why you repeating yourself here again but you seems somehow worried that new owners are not aware of your bad experience and just repeating like an old broken record which absolutely irks me ...this is yet another example.

Move on lah ..Audi is a nice car but most if not all qashqai owners cannot afford it or have other plans for the hard earn money. Go to Audi thread and share your good experience on your new ride with the bros there. If you do face any issue with Audi like one-time batch problem with leaking headlights, share how you fix it and not just whining about it there also hor.

    Cheers.

    Richard

Here people don't react very maturely & well to neutral / negative responses about the car.. have to be positive then can lol.

That said.. 1yr or 1.5yr is really very bad battery life. My other cars in the family with similar level of electrical equipment / features usually 2yrs.

Imagine out of warranty.. every 1.5 year must change battery.

Will use the"half" engage on the p to d

    Press the knob
    Push to down 1/2
    Release back to p

This should "free" up or losen up

    Press and shitft to D

If you still feel abit hard on shifting to d
    Repeat step 1

    1. I didn't repeat many times. Definitely wasn't whining at all in my tone. Why are you so uptight? Cannot take negative opinions like a man?

    2. When I share my previous bad experiences with the Nissan QQ1.2T, it has got nothing to do with what I drive now. If I bought another Japanese ride, I'd still share the same stuffs. Again, why are you so agitated? You are the one doing the comparison, bringing in affordability, stuffs like that, trying to gain sympathy ah?

    3. The difference between you & me is when people share bad experiences about the Audi brand or specific model like the A4, I try to correct them if they are uninformed but if they are correct, I will not react like you did.

I'll continue to share my opinions/experiences about the QQ1.2T, good or bad, whether you like it or not. No need you to tell me what to do.. Mr. Only hear the good stuffs.

Deserve max 10 dislikes but only 5 to keep the other 5 for next time ... at least Audi2016 bothered to articulate with efforts seen and not your usual one liner type of worthless response and statement which I do not see how you contribute to such forum.

Red dot... hmm let me see if i have it. The brake lock usualy comes on when i drive off w/o releasing the parking brake. But i do realise that now during brake lock, the grip is not as tight as previously...

1 more thing is puzzling. While chatting with the technician during test drive, he said QQ is assembled in Thailand?!

All the while i tot it came from UK?

Release the handbrake in the normal way rather than let computer sense that it needs to release the handbrake for you when you move off. Definitely uk manufacture .

seems like spongy brakes is a feature of nissan cars. [laugh] my lousy latio also has spongy brakes. can ask TC to adjust during servicing but it goes back to normal sponginess within a week. [laugh] so i gave up many years already.

test drove both the QQ 1.2 and 2.0 before. Didn't really notice it but i prob did not brake enough times on the test route. will have to wait for my QQ to arrive before i can comment again if spongy brakes remain a lasting feature of nissan. [grin]

also agree with the fairly weak horns of nissan as well. sounds like a little lamb bleating. [laugh]

If spongy brake is encountered, change out those rubber brake hoses to stainless steel hose eg.Hel or Goodridge and all will be fine

go with 95 . anyway you should be on running in period for the 1st 1600 km and take it slow.

so, I'm now with the QQ family. [grin]

Sales guy from BT was quite systematic though still owe something ETA next week.

    Overal, good experience.

Day 1 drive around artery road and some expressways on ECON but not too good on the FC yet.

SE suggested to fill RON 98 sometimes for turbo car. I used work with technicians in Oil&Gas and they also felt no difference for them and they always go for the cheapest and lower RONs permitted.

Any bros have any recommendations on what RON you guys are using?

Yes, RC Ultimate for 1.2T. Mapping already in since Nov 15 ( I was told by the installer). Can feel the significant improvement on low and mid torque. Feel like driving a 2L car now.. I am not promoting RC Ultimate and don't get a commission out from any sales. Just sharing.

After update, low end torque is stronger than before therefore you won't feel the push back effect. In short the turbo spur up stronger at lower rpm therefore pick up from stand still is faster.

Did they update the software when you went for the 10k servicing? Do you need to request for it? I went for my 5k Servicing and they mentioned that there was no software update in February.

After the update, is the acceleration more responsive and smooth?

    Diesel version

South Korea said that Nissan Motor Co Ltd (7201.T) had manipulated emissions on a diesel sport utility vehicle and that it planned to fine the automaker as well as sue the head of its Korean operations.

The government said the Japanese automaker had used a so-called defeat device that helps a vehicle's emissions management system turn off during regular driving conditions.

    Nissan denied any wrongdoing.

"Nissan Motor has never illegally manipulated any vehicles we have produced so far and used defeat devices in those cars," the automaker's Korea unit said in a statement.

The South Korean environment ministry said it planned to fine Nissan 330 million won ($279,920) for manipulating emissions on its Qashqai SUV. It will also order a recall of the 814 Qashqai vehicles sold in the country so far.

South Korea conducted tests on 20 diesel vehicles, after finding in November that Germany's Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) had falsified emissions tests.

The brake delay with sound, for me last time was when electronic parking brake already released. Lift off brake pedal but there's a ZZZZZZZ sound and car struggle to creep forward, even if you apply slight accelerator input, it doesn't help much as it felt like the brakes were still engaged.

This thing lasted around 3 seconds at least each time and it happened randomly, unable to repeat it when required. Mostly took place at low speeds in carpark areas. There was only once when it occurred when I was moving off from a junction, luckily no cars behind.

SA say didn't happen before when I described the problem.

    Hi B065,

Indeed TC somehow failed to acknowledge or wish to acknowledge or even failed to manage to convince Nissan UK to provide resolution to this fault and frankly, who knows when they will fix it .... must be difficult issue to resolve else no reason to delay.

However, several clarification to be made here:

    1. Start-stop and brake not disengaging is the same fault ... at least from even latest Audi2016's advice and my personal experience testing one of the whatspp bro who is affected on weekly basis

    2. <5% of 1.2L owners experiences this once or twice in months of ownership unlike above-mentioned bro that is affected weekly ... certainly not acceptable regardless but let's be objective on the extend of the issue

    3. 1.2L was available in Jan 2015 is my understanding ... mid 2014 was only for the 2.0L that is not none seems to be affected but % of 2.0L is estimated to be <5% of the total qashqai from the whatsapp group of 100+ and even if 2.0L affected, it would be too low at 0.25% of combined 1.2L and 2.0L to raise any alert

    4. This start-stop and brake not disengaging fault had been reproducible and do check part 1 for details but related to switching off engine and stop-start being engaged at the same time ...but this association with stop-start is only by deduction since we have no means to know the actual issue

Hope this clarifies and certainly not in the defend of Qashqai .... I have disable SS module installed very soon after car collection and no, I and 95% of 1.2L owners had fortunately not experienced this issue in the last 7 months of ownership but yes, be aware to decide if Qashqai is for you or not.

    Cheers,

Did the installer teach you how to remove it for your car servicing at TC or for Viacom car inspection? If not, did the installer inform you the price of uninstalling and reinstalling?

RC ultimate seems to be good, hence would like to find out more from you. Thanks.

    Hi HD2004,

RC Ultimate installer will teach you and it is not too difficult ... 5-10 minutes because of cable ties etc.

Yes, compared to RSChip, RC Ultimate can raise boost pressure which is the most effective increase in torque and power by a long long miles while RSChip mods the timing and positions of valve in engine and transmission in additional to air-flow mixture which RC Ultimate also does so except transmission ... RSChip info is after speaking to their UK office as I was waiting many months for RSChip but disappointed with no turbo boost and hence installed it only in my estima.

    Cheers,

    Richard

Nothing like that. handbrake disengaged manually.

    Delayed release comes randomly.

The brake delay happens when you do not disengage the handbrake manually when you move off?

If manually release then no such problem?

Yes, you would hear sound similar to a "spring/ coil being released from tension" after 2-3 seconds when brake is released.

No, not at any speed or lowspeed. For me, delayed release happens during moving off only. At stationary at traffic light or stopline, the car will only move after 2-3 seconds after you hear the above mentioned sound.

Does your brake delay issue have sounds one?

Did it happen mostly during low speeds like carpark areas, before or after parking?

The brakes release delay can be stimulated. This haooens when brakes won't release immediately after you release the foot brake pedals and you hear some mechanical noises for 1 to 2s and then the brakes are released.
To stimulate it, after parking you car with your start/stop mode on, shift to park and engaged electronic handbrake. Just when start/stop activates to turn off the engine, press the "start" switch to off everything else.
Restart ur car within 5mins and try to drive off normally. If everything works fine, either the software bug doesn't ur ride or ur software already updated.
If u encounter the brake delays, then head down to TC. This issue will only reset itself after another cycle of start/stop cuts in or you stop the engine completely and wait for some time, someone mentioned to wait 15mins to me before.

    Thanks !

The other single bro with weekly occurrence but understand still not resolved was also not under mentioned circumstances and another cause that TC cannot resolved for 9 months or more.

How often is it happening on yours and what had TC done for you so far ??

Perhaps a bit late cos missed it since Jan 2016 but believe there may be other bros like me. Quite disappointing review of the Reanult Kadjar

Now, if this car had the Qashqai's sweet 1.2-litre turbo drivetrain, it would be a winner. As it is, the Renault-Nissan group is making you choose among function, form and fun. The Kadjar scores well in the first two attributes, but fails miserably in the last.

Wanted to just praise Optishine (John)here for the PPS that I have done 6 months back.

Hada few minute spots fromroad stones but Optishinealso touched upthe chipped paints FOC without any question asked.Couldn't tell where the spots are now.

Outstanding services. Value for money. Very satisfied. I highly recommend them, any problem go back ;they stand by what they say.

If it happens incarpark, have someone record the issue and show to TC.

So in ur case with SS off, does the brake release delay resets itself during the journey?

If no, you could drive to nearest TC and show them the problem - without turning off ur engine.

Or try using auto dis-engage of electronic handbrake with foot accelerator pedal instead when u start engineand move off initially.

I had been using this method before software update and the brake release delay didn't bug me.

Which Service Center is the best?

Hard to define 'Best'. It's relative.

Matter of experiencing yourself because of many factors like location convenience, which service advisor you meet on the service date, which day you go (usually heavy demands on Mon and Sat) and what are your service requirements vs expectations.

From what i gather, BT and Ubi are well rated in general and TP is only so-so. As for Jurong and Leng Kee I have no direct experience to make a comment.

I may be wrong so check them out and make your own conclusions.

Sorry to learn of your bad experience with VW. Should have insisted a replacement instead of repair. When CC damaged my (previous ride) Mit bumper during one servicing, they told me and had it replaced voluntarily. I eventually wrote to keep their management informed of such carelessness though.

Firstly, I think this has gone on long enough... well, you may not agree with me but trust me, most of us here feel that this has gone on way too long.

Secondly, to be honest, we bros here in this page must have by now formed our own impressions on both yourself and Richard. Some may agree with you and some with Richard, but I don't think that's the point here. I think what's important is that we are all adults and we can all make up our own minds as to who is the "psycho" here. For the record, in my career, whether fortunately or unfortunately, I have had the pleasure of meeting real psyhcos (i.e. certified by IMH Head of Forensic Psychiatry)...so trust me when I say I know a psycho when I see one. And I have met Richard before...and while I won't describe him as charming (i.e. at least not as charming as me or meemee or mh23 la), he's certainly no psycho...passionate maybe, but not psycho. I have also met his family before...and well, what I can say is that they seem pretty happy with him...so not so sure about your thoughts and fears for his family....but it's nice you are concerned about them la.

Finally, this page is about QQ sharing so maybe we stick to the subject. And as you had previously said before, it is about opinions and everyone (even non owners of QQs who might have test driven one) have the right to make comments but maybe we should just make them as "opinions" and not God-given truths...coz every car and even every QQ is diff...so we may all have diff experiences even with the same model.

So let's chill and move on, yeah.

    Cheers bro ;)

That ain't bad considering Volkswagen put a dent into my rear bumper when I sent it in for servicing. They eventually made good and patched and re-sprayed my bumper - not a fantastic job by the way.

Heard about a case where 2 Volkswagen mechanics took a GTI out for a 'test' spin and crashed it...

They gave my Scirocco a very long deep scratch with paintwork flailing out.. around 30cm long on my front lower bumper.

Had to make another appt quite some time later to get it respray by them.

Actually all the service centres don't care one, they drive owners' cars like never driven a car before, just whack only.

    LPPL

    Hi LPPL

If you don't mind, can spare me a couple of mins, so I can share my personal thoughts on this "feud" between Richard and yourself.

You should be glad that I have shown you that psycho and sadistic streak in him. Remember that a psycho will never have the word psycho written on his head in case you are not aware.

They do. Most service centres practice this. It's to defend themselves.. so people cannot see whatever ill practice they do inside? Haha.

For my case, there was a cosmetic check done before I handed over my car to them and I received the car with a big deep scratch. There's no running away. Maybe the SA tried see if I am those kind who is fussy over cosmetic outlook of the car.. if I didn't discover, they probably would have kept quiet. The moment I highlighted the damage, he immediately booked a respray appt.

    LOL!

Mine was a Non-TSI version so I didn't have the critical failures that some VW owners experienced.

If you ever see a VW being driven real slow, it's probably because the gearbox failed/malfunctioned and car is stuck in a specific gear, or turbo issues.

I've comparing Vezel & QQ for more than a year and at last QQ won our hearts at the end in terms of comfort and nice interior with continental feel, love the boot's conpartments layout of 1.2 model as can keep barang barang in different configuration! TC offered high trade-in for my Honda Fit which is much higher than the PI and they locked the trade-in price when I signed the S&P and $10k deposits!

Indeed we are very very lucky got our car in 6 bids guareentee but got it on 1st bid! Book on 17/4 and received the good news on our wedding anniversary 20.04 that we secured the bid for our Bronze Colour 1.2QQ and can collect the car by 6 May!

SE from Leng Kee informed me of payments the next following week and arranged to collect car on 4/5 which is fast (less than 3 weeks from booking the car on 17/4), on collection, I found rear bottom silver panel got uneven paint works and rear tyre surface is uneven! No questions asked, SE discussed with her manager and said will replace asap!

We collect our car the next day on 5/5 with full replacement of the faulty items in the Leng Kee showroom! And I got the opportunity to drive my new QQ from level 2 showroom to fetch our kiddos in school! My BD gift in May indeed! Haha

Best of all, I did not really asked for all these! Thank to her and look forward to my ride pretty soon. Cheers to all.

Hi Ayre, what is the name of your SE, mayb i can go check out the QQ with her.

Even if you top up 2K today for G 2 bid, it will be same as the price they offered you 3 months back, 2K for G bid. So if you are keen, I think they have offered you an olive branch. Meaning the cost of COE increase over the last 6 bid is kinda absorbed by them...

BO65, I believe QQ was your 1st choice then and now still. Price wise, I don't think you have lost out. We are driving a car so don't bother about the ppl at AD. You may wish to change the SE and move on to get your 1st choice QQ. Cheers!

Not so willing buyer willing seller case.

I end up losing since COE has crept up every round for last 3 months except last round. So whatever car I buy now, I still end up paying for the price diff between 3 months ago and now.

I am going to miss you guys!

    Hi BO65

Bro, your decision is not made yet ? Think about it lor. If the guaranteed bid price of add'l 2k is still within your budget and you do the the QQ, then it's still worth considering.

Buying car is like that one... U win some and u lose some. I have been a satisfied owner of the 1.2T QQ since Jan 2015...so was one of the earliest to enjoy this greatly ride. Of coz, that also means that I'm one of those who paid the most...but looking back... Enjoyed the car and love the drive ever since taking owner in end Jan last year.... So no regrets.. By the way, owners like me would have paid 124k...haha.. So 107k...cheap lor

Whatever decision u make... Think about it, make it and then just go all out and enjoy the car when it comes.... Good luck bro

I think hardly anyone got a QQ at the low low price because it was an unexpected dip.

Tucson with sunroof (2 versions) looks like having gadgets although it is slightly more costly .

Less haste more speed. Good bye and good luck

If it makes you feel any better... some of the guys here paid in excess of $130k for their 1.2T QQ. I paid more than 10k of its current listed price too.

Don't get too upset over the failed COE bid. Could be also a blessing for you to look at other cars. The 1.2T QQ is hardly something to die for at its current price.

I miss the days of <$20k COE.... [bigcry]

Just on road tax you save about $700 per year between a 1.2 and a 2.0. So $7k over ten years excluding fuel savings

The initial pick up may be a bit slow but it rolls off smoothly and power kick in after 1750rpm, going up hill is powerful and less noisy than Vezel! Overtaking is easy and smooth! Doesn't feel like it's a 1.2cc car!

Can't wait to install my RS Chip and Power charger and it will be a "1.6cc" or 130bhp QQ!

The price was the listed price at time of purchase - minus 1K discount that was not asked for. I understand it is like standard for for every buyer to get this 1K discount.
So no, he was not aggressive. It was just that the COE was low at that time - end Feb 2016.

We bought QQ 1.2 end Feb. Managed to bargain hard for further discount off list price ($101988) so final price under $100K. Really lucky to get my COE on 2nd bid in March. Pearl white. My weekend ride...

I am not sure how many of those who bought during that time got their rides. Many buyers in the showrooms were viewing and test riding the QQ during that window period when Cat A COE was lowest in 5 yrs then.

My wife and I thought TC must be going for market share or has a large order shipment that's why pushing hard for QQ sales. I guess luck and timing also play a part in car buying and securing COE.

So its even lower than mine.

Its not QQ price is low - TC already worked in their margin no matter what. And a hefty margin too - like all ADs. The price is low because the COE was low.

What is your new purchase plan now?

Jap Korean conti models type options....

Current coe price levels is expected to be within small fluctuation band in next few months.

The price was the listed price at time of purchase - minus 1K discount that was not asked for. I understand it is like standard for for every buyer to get this 1K discount.
So no, he was not aggressive. It was just that the COE was low at that time - end Feb 2016.

Glad I left. I was offered $99+k ard the same time as u.
But I prefer a sedan. So went next door to buy.
Imo, if u still like qq, u Shd just top up. It's still lower price than current price.
If u can't wait for another 2 bids, ask the guy if he can make it one bid guaranteed.

My SE offered me 4bids guaranteed for top up, but eventually gave me 1 bid guaranteed.

    TC or dealer?

I was only offered 14k for my old jazz, 1 SE from TC offered 16k and another TC SE offered 17k.

Got my COE in 1st bid (non-guaranteed) as they should have anagreement to handover my old car to dealer within a certain time frame.

After collecting new car, jazz was put on sgcarmart 21k by TC's dealer and sold withina fewweeks, not sure about the final price.

Did not trade in my car to TC.

I believe quality of the SE is the key. Good SEs can work wonders for buyers such as give good discounts, throw in freebies and also get mgt to push for your bid to be higher up the pecking order. Lousy SEs can drag you down in the pits by over promising but cannot deliver, not putting effort so your bid gets placed at the bottom of the queue for COE bidding or even worse is wrong advice.

i have found peace - and decided on no enemies. At the end of the day, its just bad luck. Shit happens some times.

    So I messaged the SE.

Told him I have forgotten why I chose the QQ. So I need a to see and another test drive. This time must include a bit of highway during off-peak hours - Just Eng Neo to Beauty World exit will do. I will size it up again and then decide between QQ and Tucson.

Currently Tucson has the pull - larger size and comfort and of course power comfort for frequent KL drive.

You guys are fantastic. Thanks for the opinion.

    Hi 500KP,

Price of LED is per ebay but installation is expensive as the existing reflector is not a blind hole which resulted in the whole bumper needing to be removed ... cannot really remember exact amount but just below sgd100 ?? and need mh23 to confirm.

More importantly, you need installer with good workmanship to avoid scratching the paint and removal of the black plastic strips above the tyres I think and no biz interest but go to Aestmod at 23 Lorong 11 Geylang if needed and ask for Ah Boon who had done our front bumper mesh, rear bumper led, glove compartment rattling, side step, auto folding (not when engine start like TC's but each time you lock/unlock door), audio installation and many many more.

    Cheers,

What richard_crl032 said is right. If someone has the disposable income, no one can stop him/her from getting a premium car. For someone like me, getting my first car at 30+ of age, i think i will give practicality and functionality more weightage. bhp etc are not my concern. In summary, QQ 1.2L is the ride for me =)

    Hi 500KP,

Indeed, this rear bumper led is purely vanity :) but the horn is a life saving cos the guniang horn alerts no one and scared shit when NTUC truck reversed and ignored the stock horn and unfortunately no car behind for me to quick reversed my car ... phew ! Really a no-brainer mod on the horn ..... did hella red, hella yellow and ended up with using estima's horns as I am used to the loud and sharp tone.

    Hi Meemee,

Lol ... your new friend blurred liao with your response and may not have your sense of humour [:p]

Aircon is a bit erratic until I installed the disable stop-start but Goodrealm, it is hard to take your post seriously if you share aircon being not cold together with 11km/l change to 10.6km/l since such FC change is just too insignificant and precise when FC depends so much on drive style and road condition through one or more full tank. It is typical from what I read and experienced personally that it is 10-13km/l actual calculation of mileage travelled and full tank of 50l till alert on empty tank. Apology in advance if I sound too blunt.

    Hi MooDriver,

Indeed cos turbo boost is of most impact but it will still better than stock for sure.

For NA, I recommend rschip cos it is designed without turbo boost and hence maxed out accordingly but note you can only transfer to only 2 more different car models and download the different car model's setting.

If you dun wish to spend too much, at least an ethrottle then and this got no warranty void concnern. Had not tried those eps electricity upgrade products to know how much it helps but it is expensive like rschip.

    Cheers.

Wonder if anyone has the same experience as me? Sent my Qashqai 2.0 last month at BT for my 2nd routine servicing. Discovered later air con has become less cold and worst of all, my fuel mileage has dropped drastically from 11km to now 10.6km per litre. Driving routes, habit and petrol grade all still remain the same as before. Emailed TC and waiting for their reply.

Sent in for 5K servicing in mid apr too. FC improved leh. Since car collection in oct 15,, mileage hovering 480km per tankful. After 5k servicing, it was 520km. But after last week's refuel, estimated FC was 570 for this tank. Now slightly less than half tank still have 280km to travel. Not sure whether also due to caltex, their formula improved lately. Also noticed engine less noisy n acceleration much smoother. Mine mostly city drive.
    disclaimer, not promoting anything.

    Or

Maybe a consolation to me. Better than my previous ride of 65 litre tank which gave me only 420km. This ride can last 2 weeks plus without topping up. Previous rides' empty tank lights in less than 2 weeks. Travel routes had not changed for the last 12 years. So in between already had 2 rides before QQ.

    Hi guys,

just did PPS yesterday in start of week2.

the bigger blind spot was one of the issue I have concern before choosing the Qashqai.

was looking to put up blind spot mirrors I bought from Qoo10 recently but found an interesting away to adjust your rear view mirrors instead.

it will take a bit of getting use to but I thought I'll share this.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts to share on this.

Used to adjust this way in my previous ride. No need to turn head to check blind spot. Need to find the comfort level when using this on QQ as QQ sits taller and might miss the smaller compact car like picanto or smaller bikes.

On the topic of run-in, I think I shall ask the SE whether is my QQ factory run-in.

If your QQ is factory run in, then it's not new car liao. It's stated on the manual. Not only for QQ. All new cars the same. 1st 1600km, avoid revving in high gears, abrupt braking, Not to travel on the same speed for long period of time. Think hard to rev in high gear now that it's auto GB so it's the hard braking that needs to take note. I had a few emergency braking during my run in due to red light cameras.

Turbo should be more fuel efficient . It uses the exhaust gas on its way out to power a turbo fan which is physically coupled to a fan which bring in more air. More air means more fuel to burn mean more power. Because some of the energy still available in the exhaust is recovered by a turbo charger at no cost compared with a naturally aspirated engine , it is thus more fuel efficient than the latter. It is an undisputed well known fact.

The only caveat comes with that first oil change. Make sure you change your new car's oil and filter for the first time at 1500 miles unless otherwise recommended by the manufacturer. The reason? Metal has worn off while mating surfaces were established, and those metal scraps need to be removed from the engine before they cause long-term damage.

One would usually expect FC to maintain if not improve after servicing instead of increased FC. Gotten a reply from BT customer service, recommended that I send my car back for further inspection. Have requested to go to the one at LK instead of BT. Will update on what ensues.

Bro, not every time so good la. This was clocked during school holidays when traffic was generally better and I made more longer trips (regular short trips will kill our FC). Nowadays usually per tank is between 720-750km.

if installing internal sensor, check if battery is replaceable. Steelmate's not replaceable. so need to change sensor when flat. External sensors have replaceable batteries.

External sensor the battery can only last 2-3 years and it is very troublesome to pump air.

Yes. Much cheaper online. Almost $100 diff.

Do it at home. Use d portable pump that comes with the 1.2l. At least it's cheaper(don't need to buy new sets) and don't have to remove tyres when batteries go flat. That's assuming all fail at the same time. Otherwise, gotta go to tyre shop more than once.

    Hi dash1234

Bro, not sure how far a full tank will go for a 2.0L but I am happy that my 1.2T sometimes gives me around 880km for a full tank...haha.

P.S: sorry but dunno why when I attach the pic, it is displayed upside down...

That's dam good FC you're getting. For my 2.0L, per trip it ever clock 16.9km/l recently which I think it may not be accurate.
Per tank FC varies from 11km/l to 14km/l, depending on my routes and 'loads' that l'm carrying..

    Hi Kumquat,

Try ah boon at 23 Lorong 11 Geylang ..Aestmod.

Not cheapest and not the most expensive but excellent workmanship and follow up.

Found them for the feont bumper mesh and gotten them to do all sort of mechanical and electrical installation.

    Hi Hoamchu,

2-3 years is ok but indeed a bit of effort to pump air as you have to unlock and then remove the "security" not before you can pump up your tyres and then putting it back and tightening it.

Nevertheless, if Kumquat's advice is that internal Steelmate cannot replace battery, I will take the external ones ... which I did.

The solar powered (hence no installation needed) with external sensor can be bought for USD115 while the internal sensors that I purchased for my father-in-law is about USD165.

    Cheers,

    Richard

Not shown how. But on the DUO point webpage,it says every dollar you spent you earn one point.

I believe it is the resultant of thepurchase price of the car ex COE,GST, road tax, registration fee, number plate. I think I looked at some of the products for equivalent pointson costs and deduced that mine was $300.

Hi EricChan, how is DUO point awarded to purchase - how much $ = one DUO point? SE told money paid for COE, PARF, GST will not be awarded DUO points. Explanation not so clear.
Saw your DUO points like 60,000 and it worth $300, meaning 200 DUO points about $1?
    TIA

I had contacted RaceChip Chiptuning from Germany to ask about the racechip ultimate as I couldn't find a version for my 1.2T.

Someone finally replied to me aft several months.

    "Hi,

unfortunately at the moment there is no RaceChip for the 1.2 DIG-T engine available. Please tell me where you have seen the product for this engine.

    Thank you.

    Best regards
    Tim"

Those who've installed it, did the shop adjust the tuning to suit the 1.2T or just plug n play?

    Hi Haronkr,

Your contact is correct ... it showed "no tuning product":

    https://www.racechip...e&is_selected=1

Believe it is custom tuned by Lawrence of local distro.

Please keep us posted on any concern.

    Tks and regards.

    Hi Richard

I asked if there are any issues if one was to use the chip from another model into the 1.2T. The reply was:

    "Hi again,

normally nobody should install a RaceChip of another engine in one which isnt official available.

The risk for a damage is to high.

    BR
    Tim"

Altho i do believe those experienced 'tuners' could still improve the car within safe parameters e.g monster tune, etc. However, i'm unsure abt tuning the chip itself to suit the car.

I have problem connecting my phone (iphone 6s plus) to the HU on bluetooth. Initially it will auto connect. Now to connect I need to
    1) forget the HU pairing on my phone BT list
    2) the HU will be discovered. I will pair them.

Next day it will fail to connect again unless I repeat the actions. I am not sure if it is my phone or the HU. Can I do a factory reset of the HU. Would that wipe everything away or would it revert back to TC default?

There is pin hole reset button under the GPS/RST tab. Lift up the tab and the reset pin hole is under the GPS micro sd slot.

It will revert back to TC default and I think your radio stations & equaliser settings will be revert backas well.

What i faced previously with my Andriod note 4 is I need to key in the default bluetooth pin everytime they connects.

From my phone Iunpair bluetooth, clear the cache for bluetooth, power off, wait for a few minutes and power on back.

For the HU, i did a reset as well.

Thanks Eric. I try to google. Can't find that discussion. I also look at the duo point page. The biggest service voucher without spending pre-requisite is $100 for 25000 duo points. Perhaps that's the way to offset?

I also found Meemee's audio thread as I was googling. He was showing how he do the insulation and the speaker frame. Wow. Like a dream. How I wish I have that kind of skillset! I have trouble taking out the front grill today after I remove the attached top plastic cover, haha.

Voucher without min. spend amt uses a lot of the points. Head down to TC and talk to the counter staff, they will advise you which type of voucher to redeem. Understand there is expiry date for vouchers so check if they have stock before redemption.

my wife was looking to trade in her mini cooper 1.6L to a QQ 2.0L

called up TC for a trade in price on her cooper, TC really suck to quote $14k lower than eurokars.

was so angry with TC and went back to eurokars for a mini cooper s (5drs).

I felt that TC has to be more realistic to give a competitive trade in price with potential customers.

if other can provide a higher trade in price, than why can't TC give the same offer too?

ADs need profits and its dealers also need profits, can expect much lower prices for trade-in. Want better price, sell direct. TC now insists trade-in for another $2K off new ride. More flexible in the past. Merc and BMWs higher margins, can offer better for trade-in. Cheers!

    Only recent have 2k off?
For my case I don't think TC made any $ from my trade in as car was listed by dealer on sgcarmart at $4K higher than trade in price. I guess my trade in price is about the market price even if I go direct to dealer, unless I sell direct to another owner.
And it's the hassle free arrangement to trade in to TC and I got to keep my ride till new car is ready.

I agree with this especially when your car is left with like 12 to 16 months, trade off to TC dealer will be ideal with that additional 2K off. The value given for your old car will not cause so much pain, just my opinion.
