No one should be taken for a ride.

Anything, just blame the clinic assistant.

If I were the clinic assistant, I will shove the job up the doctor's arse.

However, it seems that miscommunication between the patient and the clinic assistant, and/or the reporter has given rise to the impression of a separate billing for two ailments, which was definitely not the case.

I feel it is fair for doctors to charge according to short or long consultations. But to charge based on the number of illnesses in one consultation, I disagree. :a-no:

My usual GP charges me according to short or long consultation.

I agree with you, this is not really fair, if i have a sore throat, flu and headache, does it mean i have to pay for 3 consultations? [thumbsdown]

I think we need to differentiate between symptoms and ailments.

1 ailment can have more than 1 symptom.

e.g. flu (ailment) - cough, sore throat, running nose (symptoms)

Blood drenched man with multiple injuries found at Northpoint Shopping Centre
SINGAPORE - A man was seen with blood drenched clothes at Northpoint Shopping Centre on Friday (Aug 12) afternoon.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call for ambulance assistance at the mall at 1.22pm, and dispatched one ambulance.
A man in his 20s was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, and the hospital was alerted to be on standby to receive the patient.
The Straits Times understands that he hurt himself, and had multiple injuries.
Photos on social media show the man lying outside the Cantine food court on the third floor of Northpoint. But Kopitiam, which operates Cantine, said that the incident did not happen in the food court.
"He stumbled out of the toilet and collapsed in front of our outlet," said a Kopitiam spokesman.

PETALING JAYA: A Singaporean businesswoman and her two teenaged kids were detained after they verbally abused an Immigration officer at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex here.

According to a report in The Star Online, the incident took place at 3.30pm, Friday after the woman, in her 40s and her two children, aged 18 and 19, refused to lower the back window of their vehicle despite being instructed to by the officer on duty. The family was heading towards Singapore.

Besides hurling abuse and accusations at the officer who wanted to inspect their vehicle, one among them also flashed the middle finger at the officer.

Provided by MToday News Sdn Bhd gari--4

The English daily reported that Johor Immigration Department director Rohaizi Bahari confirmed the arrests and said the trio would be remanded for 14 days to assist in investigations.

It is an offence to hurl abuse at my men who are just following the procedures during checks, he was quoted as saying.

He added, So far our investigation also showed that the officer did not ask for any bribe as alleged by the suspects.

He said the department adopted a transparent policy and those unhappy in any way with their service were free to lodge a formal complaint with him directly.

He said his department also allowed representatives from the Singapore consulate to meet with the trio, who were now being investigated under Section 56(1) (g) of the Immigration Act which carries a maximum RM10,000 fine or imprisonment not exceeding five years or both.

Pictures of the family in handcuffs as well as their personal details have gone viral via Facebook.

It is also learnt the two teenagers are studying in a private college in Johor Baru.

Police report mentioned it is a BMW523i, SLC...

No, it meant you have flu.

Normally I will charge you $80 for such complex consultation, but I simplified it to a 3 letter word for you.

You only need to pay $50 for consultation.
But you need to take a 5 days dosage of antibiotics, medication for headache, cough syrup, runny nose and lozenges for sore throat.
In order to help you recover faster, I will be recommending you vitamins C.
    Total will be $120.

Really hope ppl can't stop playing hp while crossing the road, be it pokemon or surfing net or texting ...

Just for that 10secs at most, can't kill you , right?!

If ganna hit by vehicles, you won't be able to enjoy playing for the rest of your life liao ...

At this very sensitive time of the 7th Month, you are making the official undertaker very unhappy .... very unwise.

    [laugh]

PS I learnt to advice but people don't take it then if anything happen, they are the only ones who have to bear the consequences. We feel sorry for them but we cannot help them by carrying part of their pain should anything happen to them. Eg. Smoking especially getting smoking related cancers are avoidable but people don't understand that cancers generally are life sentence. Once diagnosed you are literally living on borrowed time. Negotiation with undertaker may be useless.

SINGAPORE: A 40-year-old man has been arrested over a hit-and-run case at the car park of Newton food centre, the police said on Friday (Aug 19).

At about 12.46pm last Monday, the police received a call alerting them to the incident. Upon their arrival, a man was found injured at the scene. The victim was an auxiliary police officer who was conducting enforcement duties at the time of the incident, the police said.

Based on preliminary investigations, the suspect is believed to have driven the vehicle in the victims direction, before speeding off and damaging another vehicle along the way, the police said.

The suspect was arrested at Bukit Batok on Wednesday. Further investigations revealed that he allegedly used fake number plates on the vehicle to evade detection, police said. The suspect is also believed to have committed multiple traffic offences islandwide.

He will be charged in court on Friday with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in jail, caning, fine, or a combination of such punishments.

Don't need to be scared. Be terrified..but of course depends on expectations la. Had close to 150 applicants for a senior manager position I am looking for. For lower level more skilled based engineer and customer service .. 4 positions but only got ard 30 applicants

Good times or bad times also like that la unless you are saying these are all qualified candidates. Ask your HR to do better screening lor.

I was doing recruitment previously. One position can easily get few hundred candidates if you post on those job sites because it takes just one click for the fellow to apply.

If one work in cisco as Ka Kia also kena.cutting 20 % workforce..

I heard the package is 1 month for 1 year plus another 2 months. Quite generous leh.

Belgian expat jailed for 5 years for killing son

SINGAPORE:A Belgian expatriate was sentenced to five years' jail in Singapore on Monday (Aug 21) for killing his five-year-old son last year while suffering from severe depression during a child custody battle.

Philippe Graffart, 42, was sentenced on a reducedchargeof culpable homicide instead of murder, after psychiatric findings showed he had "diminished responsibility" for suffocating his son Keryan with a pillow in their apartment.

Murder is punishable by hanging in Singapore.

Judicial Commissioner Hoo Sheau Peng said she took into consideration the grievous nature of the offence, the fact that it had been committed against a vulnerable child, and the fact that the offender was the child's own parent.

"This sentence is necessary to show that the accused's actions are not to be condoned," Hoo said.

For culpable homicide without the intention of causing death, Graffart could have been jailed up to 10 years, caned and fined - or any combination of the three penalties.

Graffart looked impassive when his sentence was read out, staring straight ahead at the judge.

Representatives from the French and Belgian embassies were present during the High Court hearing, as well as two of Graffart's former colleagues who briefly spoke to him before he was taken away to serve his sentence.

His Singaporean lawyer Ramesh Tiwary told AFP after the session that Keryan's death is something Graffart "will have to live with for the rest of his life."

Court documents showed Graffart was locked in a bitter custody battle over Keryan with his estranged French wife Gwendoline when he smothered the boy with a cushion after giving him a sedative on October 5, 2015.

After the killing he unsuccessfully tried to commit suicide by crashing his car before giving himself up to police.

The family had moved to Singapore from Luxembourg in September 2013 after Graffart, a financial executive, was transferred by his employer, European firm Nordea Investment Management.

Their marriage broke down early the following year.

At about lunchtime on October 5, 2015, Graffart was told about a development in his custody suit which left him distraught, court documents said.

That evening Graffart put Keryan to bed and prepared two sleeping pills for himself, but gave them to his son instead.

When the boy was asleep, Graffart placed a cushion over his son's head until he stopped moving.

After kissing his son goodbye, Graffart went on a drive and crashed his car on purpose on a highway after unbuckling his seatbelt. But the safety airbags saved his life.

He woke up in a hospital but left it in the small hours of Oct 6, when he showed up at a police station with injuries from the car crash and confessed to the crime.

TOKYO (AFP) - A mother in Japan is under investigation for murder after her four children, including a girl as young as three, were found dead at home, Japanese media reports and police said on Monday (Aug 22).

Local media reported the victims were killed by their mother before she tried to take her own life.

A 10-year-old boy, two six-year-old girls, and a three-year-old girl were found dead early Monday, according to police in the southern Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka.

"Their father found them dead and reported it to police," a police spokesman told AFP, without providing further details.

Police are questioning the children's 41-year-old mother as a suspect in a possible murder-suicide attempt, according to Jiji Press and public broadcaster NHK.

The mother confessed to police she had killed the children, according to TV Asahi.

Police reportedly told media that at least one child had a mark indicating strangulation.

The mother was sent to hospital as her wrist was bleeding, the Asahi Shimbun daily said. She told police she cut herself with a kitchen knife but her injury was mild.

Murder-suicide cases are not uncommon in Japan and usually involve a mother killing her child or children.

Some parent-child murder-suicides have been attributed to poverty. In 2014, a single mother in Chiba prefecture killed her teenage daughter and tried to kill herself apparently because she could no longer afford to pay the rent.

On Monday, a mother and her two sons aged six and one, went missing in Gunma prefecture, northwest of Tokyo, and her car was found near a river.

Police suspect that the mother and her sons jumped into the river in a murder-suicide, the Sankei Shimbun daily reported.

Last month, a mother in Chiba prefecture killed herself after stabbing her three children, according to local media. Her 10-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son were confirmed dead.

Social pressure must be so high that when one fell into financial difficulties, the thought of suicide will occur.

However while in places like Aleppo bombarded regularly, people are in extreme difficulties, face shortage of power, water, food and medical supplies. In fact majority of people are fighting to stay alive instead of committing suicide.

So it must be the difference in the social status & financial gap that are causing the social stresses in Japan. Like the effect from cost and standard of living and work related stresses or stress of unemployment.
