Steady lah, say netizens after rider gives woman a piece of his mind when she allegedly jaywalks in Sengkang -- then films him

    https://m.facebook.c...d-when-she&_rdr

Right to the end of the video, the rider explain the situation as he was coming out of the carpark, while she was going straight. How is it that the rider has his right of way?

Maybe she was cycling on the pavement?

If she on pavement then she should stop and look for traffic. Anyway, on pavement she is considered pedestrian and shouldn't even be cycling at least for now until the law changes. Even after that, she cycle on pavement still pedestrian so need to look for traffic ma.

No ones know if she was on the road or pavement.
I thought coming out of carpark, we stopped and lookout for all, it should be slow moving. Chances of near miss is very unlikely even if pedestrian is about to cross.

I thought coming out of carpark, we look stopped and lookout for all.

That is defensive driving la. But by right, car got right of way ma. There is no zebra crossing means car got right of way. Based on their conversation, I guess the bicycle must be quite fast and appear suddenly without checking for traffic so the guy got angry. Then the woman still think she no wrong so even angrier lo.

SINGAPORE: Messages circulating on WhatsApp and social media highlighting an Indonesian report that "flyers were found" warning of "bomb attacks in a number of places in the Riau Islands" have been falsely linked to an outdated advisory on the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) website.

The messages cite a Batam Today report dated Jul 5 that letters or flyers have surfaced warning of terror attacks targeting travellers from Johor and Singapore.

    whatsapp-message-on-batam-data.jpg

Screengrab of the message circulating on WhatsApp

The letter claims that attacks will occur at the harbours at Batam Centre and Nagoya, as well as Bintan Telani, Tanjong Pinang and other locations, and that "militants have been on Riau Island for the last two weeks". An image of the purported letter circulating on social media shows it is dated Jul 4.

As of Thursday (Jul 7), several people reported receiving the WhatsApp message linking a notice on MFA's website by the Singapore Consulate in Batam to the report by Batam Today.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the advisory was posted some time ago and is unrelated to the report on the flyers. A check of the MFA website on Thursday afternoon shows the advisory has since been taken down.

MFA last issued a travel advisory on Jul 4, urging Singaporeans heading abroad to keep safe and stay vigilant, especially in light of recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Istanbul, Dhaka and Baghdad.

    Catch no ball le.

Kyaw Myo That, 33, who holds an engineering degree from Mandalay Technological University, was convicted last month, after a two-day trial, of touching the 22-year-old woman's left bra area under her armpit when the train was travelling from Tanjong Pagar to City Hall station on May 8 last year.

However, in Tanjong Pagar station, she felt the movement again. When it became more vigorous, she looked down and saw Kyaw's three fingers on her left breast. She looked up and he smiled at her.

    http://www.straitsti...nels-crash-down

Glass panels in front of a fifth-storey infinity pool at a condominium in Whampoa came crashing down yesterday, sending water raining to the ground.

Those who were near the Cradels condominium in Lorong Limau said they heard a loud shattering sound as a number of glass panels fell at about 2.30pm.

Some of the bystanders were taking their lunch at Tian Tai Eating House, less than 100m away. When they looked up, they saw water pouring down the front of the building.

    You think?

What did he really do wrong? Ranted a bit because he couldn't play a game?
Is that really deserving of being fired?

Who here can honsetly say they've never said anything similar about anything?

Yeah...he was rude - but so what?

Are we really so insecure that this matters? is it sowing discord?
Do people really feel better about taking away someone's ricebowl because of a stupid throway rant, and then responding in kind when he got flamed?

Read through the threads here and see how many people "lost their temper" over some minor road infraction, and then behaved less than admirably - do they all deserve to lose their jobs?

When will we have the maturity to realise that sometimes trolls be trolls, and that sometimes when attacked people will say less than admirable things?

Frankly, when I see stuff like this, it just reminds me of the Short Fingered Vulgarian and how he behaves...

There is such a thing called a limit. Some do not seem to know it. As jman said, you not tt bad... Cud b worse

please lah, his respond to others like he is above everything.

i would be worried if you would behave like him but lucky you are not :D

    Honestly?

I admit - I HAVE behaved like that in the past...

I've flamed people just for the fun of it, trying to wind them

I've also "ranted" before with similar sorts of things...

It wouldn't be totally out of character for example, if I was in a bad mood to say something along the lines of ...

"What sort of piece of crap country am I living in where I can't even wander down the road and get a decent burger"

yeah...there'sa certain amount of hyperbole there, and it's not reflective of how I really feel... (even at times if aspects of Singapore do frustrate me, just the same way as aspects of my home town frustrate me)

but at the same time, if somebody that doesn't know me took me to task over such a comment - I would be just as likely to engage in a full on flame war simply for the fun of winding them up...

At the end of the day - if something like this is really worthy of widespread outrage and firing - then I don't think it bodes well for anybody...

It would mean that pretty much anybody can be fired for almost anything, and it also makes for a bland and boring place where criticism of any sort is not tolerated - and if criticism is not tolerated, then that way lies oppression.

You might think it's a bit of a stretch - but I do see comparisons to the MRT saga - if someone can be fired for a throwaway line like that - what more are people going to be scared to really take on issues that matter with controversial opinions?
