Guys, how long does it take for your stuff to come from DX?? I order my cam since 8th Sept. Till now, still stucked in Guangzhou!!!

    Abt two to three weeks.

Here's cropped images from one trip. cars are stopped and if you notice, 1 & 4, both are about same distance from front car.
somehow the sensor was not able to render yellow plate correctly. all mine images posted so far are at 100%

compare these with my 3 yo cheap SD car cam also at 100% but no cropping. Pix 1 & 4 blackview, 2 & 3 old sd car cam

Maybe becos in pic 1 & 4, it was raining so blur abit. I noticed pic 2 & 3 are taken on a clear day..just my observation.

Btw, what is your 3 yr old cheap car cam model?
  • 22 September 2011 - 02:09 PM
    Adrianli

Bro, so you are using a Class 4 instead of Class 10 for your recording that you posted? No jerky recording?

Yes, I am using Class 4.

My Sandisk 4GB Class 4, no jerky recording.

My Sandisk 8GB Class 4, jerky recording for milo can size and Blackview car cam but it works perfectly on the rest of my other car cams. blink.gif Not sure why.

tried kingston class 4 32gb works no problem on my lukas. no jerk, 1s lag between each file

tried Sandisk 4, 8, 16gb class 4, all ok with my Lukas, 1s lag between each file.

but when i use LUKAS' own supplied 8gb file, it's jerky.

Seems all D0D batteries run for about 90mins until it requires to be charge via the cigarette jack.
The gse580 looks good, but still bigger than my F900. Good thing about external battery is it can record while engine is off. So if stationery at carpark waiting for friend, and some joker reverse and hit my car, still can catch.

I am comtemplating Blackvue, cos the resolutions pretty good. But using 3M sticker to permanently fasten the mount to my windscreen and no LCD screen is kinda holding me back on getting one. I think the battery links to the car cigarette jack. Possible to drive without charge?

Thanks Adrian...I realized that...did not look properly in my rush to mount it. I agree with you, the night video is super noisy! Its so different from the sample night video they posted. I wonder why....

Came back late today, here are the nite video comparison between the F900LHD and GSE580. They are recorded at the same time, side by side. Disappointed with the GSE580, not as good as advertised. The video is still noisy but much better compared to the F900LHD, however not as good as the Blackview. But if u notice the license plate of the vehicle in front, GSE580 seems to capture it very clearly compared to the rest of the background video.

Will put up comparison video once I receive my Blackview. Postman came today but no one at home. biggrin.gif

    F900LHD :

    GSE580 :

My night is similar to yours...should email DOD and check with them why theirs is so much less noise...

I think there's something wrong with your blackview.

Mine is much clearer than yours.

Anyway, I find that there's no significant difference when night mode is activated or not when recording at night. Still quite clear.

I would like to play ard the setting 1st. Next time I'm driving at nite, I'll turn on the IR lamps, the switch next to the lens.

bro that portion did bother me before, but the main criteria for me was to hide the cam behind my rear view mirror so it will not clutter my windscreen.
I know if i were to buy 1 with the screen and i can't hide it behind, i will get bothered because i look at it everyday. I will spend more money to buy another one without the screen.
Boils down to what is your own personal preference.
The LUKAS doesnt come with the screen but it has the option to go video out if you have a double din HU.
I am fine with that because all you need to do is first adjust the angle and lock it in there. i am quite a lazy person so taking up and down is definitely a no no for me.

yeah bro but looking at the GSE580 on their 'official' video versus real life samples. Having some local footages will help more in selling as well.

    FYI:

Paypal exchange rates has gone up to 1.34. Due to the current high US$ exchange rate, it is better to get the dvr sets you wanted earlier as the price may be even higher this coming week.

in order for nite videos to be clear, the surroundings have to be well lit. This is what happens in black vue videos....

maybe someone can try the black vue under very dark road conditions, with only the car head lights and fog lights on...

Eg. NSH...or those very poorly lit industrial estates....

only then it will tell how well the cameras works under such conditions.

    Hi Bro Adrian,

Had juz received my Blackview from Speed_Ong 2 days ago.
    Need to seek ur advise.
When i play back the videos in my laptop, there's multiple vertical pink/purple lines on the video.
I had already removed the sticker on the lens.
I had tried numerous combinations of Settings to try solve the problem but to no avail.
Im really suspecting i got a faulty camera.
Below is a screen capture from the video for your reference.
Looking forward to ur advise / comments.

After testing the GSE580 for a few days, here are some of my personal findings:

    1. Sharp and clear daytime video
    2. Very noisy night video at EV-1, improves quite a bit at -1.7. Still testing on this
    3. GPS lock quite slow.
    4. The time lag in between files is 2-3 sec. I do not know is it just me or its the norm
    5. I am using Transcend 32GB class 10 SD card, no jerking in recording
    6. You can manually turn on IR with the switch near the lens...IR projection is pretty good distance. 2-3m ahead no problem (in near total drakness)

Have not tried motion sensor feature as yet.

Another thing I am not sure - At Full HD (1920), my TV is showing 1080i and not 1080P...

Overall, it performed to my expectation except night video which still need some tweaking.

    Hi guys,

Anyone using the latest DOD GSE 550?

Got it from ebay a month back, impressed by small size of the blackbox and the video quality. Unlike Korean blackboxes which requires you to use their software to view playbacks, DOD files can be played directly as it is a normal video file. You'll only need to use the supplied software only when you need to see the shock sensor readings and gps map.

But there are 2 problems with the set. Screensaver doesn't work that well. When screensaver is turned on, lcd turns off momentarily and turns back on about a minute later. Also, set will not power off when engine is off. Instead, it will power off when battery runs out.

Overall, it is a set worth buying.

compare these with my 3 yo cheap SD car cam also at 100% but no cropping. Pix 1 & 2 old sd car cam, 3 & 4 blackview

While setting the GSE580 to 720p, I realised that the coverage is abt 120degrees. Much wider than in Full HD. But the video quality also dropped. I want to capture in 720p so that it will be a fair comparison with the Blackview car cam.

Will post a comparison video soon between the Blackview and GSE580 as requested by one of the bros.

Can users of the Blackview assist in my questions?

    1. How do you view the files that were recorded? When i try to open with my Windows Media Player, it pops out " Windows Media Player has stopped working"

    2. Is there a need for us to install the driver CD? To upgrade the the version or what?

    3. When your camera is not plugged into a usb port/ power supply, and your camera is switched on, are you able to access the menu? I cant seem to be able to do it on my set!

    This one?

    http://www.dealextre...6-tft-lcd-73630

    Hi, Bros..

if u r considering this one, maybe better re-consider.

may be only the unit i got, but the recording (or replay?) speed is not "constant".

recorded in 1080p, on 16GB Class 10 Silicon Power microSD card. 3-4 secs recording gap between files.

Video is sharp but when viewing (on different PCs) parts of video "speeds up" and then back to normal.

just from video, it will give impression that the car itself was driven fast/slow/fast/slow even though actually at constant speed.

that itself is no big deal if only for own viewing but for blackbox "evidence" it can become arguable.

maybe firmware issue. Don't think it's the mSD card (tried on normal DV cam, no problem)
