Which we are unable to change since we're waiting on the HDMI cable.
Dear Moredhel,
You do not need to use HDMI cable to do the G-Sensor settings, simply connect your GS600 using USB to your pc and run the file HDplayerDOD.exe
at the application window, under the settings icon on the bottom right.
Kindly feel free to drop us a call if you still unable to find the settings.
Not sure anyone experiencing this issue. Whenever I plug in my F500HD for recording, it seems to affect my radio FM88.3, a lot of static noise can be heard. Other radio station seems to be ok.
I also realised the signal deterioration of this radio station ever since I started using my GS-600
You need to have Power supply to your GS-600 unit inorder to see the menu screen on TV with the supplied TV cable.Any bros here using GS-600 managed to see the menu screen on your TV when you hook up yr cam using the supplied TV cable? I can't. Any suggestions?
1) I believe that most of other GPS devices is facing the same speed display issue, DOD is seeking improvement on this.
2) DOD has recommended using Class 4 or better SD card.
3) The new batch of GS600 will have this function of recording (1, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 min).
Regarding the need of reformatting the SD Card, this is due to the G-Sensor settings.
Kindly try the method as follow:
In the HD player, click settings and set all G-Sensor (X,Y,Z) Value to (1).
You mean this will resolve the recycling recording issue ? I am not sure whether G-sensor is the issue but the unit simply stop recording when the card is full even if the car is stationary. The only thing I see on the screen is "Card Full" when I try to manually start the recording again.
Does the unit ship with default recycling recording ?
As for the new batch with additional functions, how about the initial batch ? Can do firmware upgrade to enable it ? Anyway I am not so concern on the recording timing but I need the recycling recording to be on.
Edited by Toyopet, 09 December 2010 - 09:05 PM.
I too have noticed that the recycle feature is not working. My 16GB filled, and it stopped recording.
While I never contacted Gloria at DOD about this, I did ask about the segment length of 1 minute. All their other mobile DVR cameras have 1, 5, and 15 minute segments. On Skype she said they could make these changes on future units. When I asked about a firmware update, she said they WOULD NOT be releasing the firmware to the public due to competitor concerns. This is a rather significant issue. Hopefully you have some more insight.
You need to have Power supply to your GS-600 unit inorder to see the menu screen on TV with the supplied TV cable.
That means I need to use the stepped down transformer adaptor and select 12V to power up the GS-600?

Due to the G-sensor setting, it activates the ?Collision Data protection? function hence it lock the entire recorded files. The factory default setting for G-sensor is 5, you need the re-set the value to 1 in order to reduce the sensitivity of the G-sensor.

That's great news. I will turn it down to 1. I've also ordered a class 4 16GB to see if that doesn't cut down or eliminate the long gap every minute. I'm currently using a class 2 16GB.
The buyers of the GS600 - please do not worry - I have contacted DOD-TEC and they have assured that they would be able to update the firmware for the cameras - but we do need to send them back. As part of the service I promised, I shall definately assist with this, once the new firmware is ready.
Parking idiot that's great news that they're going to continue to support original 'pioneers' who bought the first batch. But, in all honesty, for someone in the USA to ship it back to them, will cost nearly as much as a new unit. I would hope they'll reconsider releasing the firmware - or that they'd cover the round-trip shipping.
Thanks for the update. Gloria has been very slow to reply to my emails and skype IM's lately. I don't know if she's getting tired of hearing from me, or if they're getting overwhelmed with with level of interest in the new product.

Ok, already did the change and will feed back after few days whether it solves the problem or not. Btw just a feedback, the HDplayer could not play the video files. Windows application error is received whenever the play button is clicked. I am using Vista.

I oso faced the same problem as u so i used tape to tape the top part of the lens to the cam so that it some how creates a leverage. My lens has never dropped off at all no matter how bumpy the road is.
I use blue tack and stick a whole plaster round the lens, problem is u can't switch to night lens though. One problem I'm facing now is with the wide lens, the movie file on playback on my laptop is no longer sharp. Slightly blur image as compared to without the lens. Do u guys face the same quality? I guess its not the quality dat's affected due to the additional wide lens, its the wide angle which made the objects in the video looks further away dats y it seemed like the quality has deteriorated. Im oso settled in 1280 x 720 resolution coz wif the wide angle lens, my cam can catch objects at a wider angle(120deg) compared to the 1440x1080 resolution which when coupled wif the wide angle lens, actually seemed like its in the 1280 x 720 without the wide angle lens.

Used some chemical formalethyate or something like that to attach the ring.
Car is very bumpy due to the aged stiffeners. So far so good, didn't fall off.
Can switch to night mode(though normally don't as can see just as well).
Using highest resolution. Very wide view available.

Same here, seems our Bro Parking Idiot didn't do a thorough test before commented it is working fine...
Anyway, I tried with various glue... but still can't firmly hold the C10 len, this is mainly due to the size of the metal o-ring was too small.
I then went to my storeroom and look for nut's washer. Eventually, found one metal washer that come with wider diamension... and surprising, its diamension is same as the camera's len. Glue it with super glue and it is able to hold the C10 firmly now. See photo...

Since so many bros asking me, went to dig it out again.
The one I'm using is branded under Glue King.
The exact chemical name is called Cyanoacrylate. It's used for bonding plastics together.
As the camera area is plastic, it would bond nicely.
If any bros around the serangoon north area, and want some help on this, can let me know.

Great, i think it is a better and easier solution, maybe Bro Parking Idiot can consider offering this "value-add" service to F880 users as after sales service.
Since i've done mine, I don't need it, just trying for others who is in the same boat.

do you guys leave the camera in the vehicle all the time?? will it get faulty or damage if it is under the sun for too long? as you aware the interior cabin can be quite hot at time when park in the sun.
I parked my car under the hot sun for the entire day, so far I didn't see any plastics deformations and camera works well and videos look so far so good. But i wonder how high can the temperature go in the passenger compartment, still thinking of using some accurate means to measure it because once you open the door, outside air rushes in and reading is no longer accurate.
bros, please remain alert at all times while on the road.

good idea... will suggest to others different ways to hook up the lens.

limited testing only, bro.. i had the lens and used for a few days - did not drop out. I think YMMV with the double sided. If it does not stick well, can use better double sided or blue tack. By the way - need to stick to the ring and not the little switch that controls the night/day mode, stick above that switch.

Tested the bonding with some small weights hung onto the lens.
Apparently, the magnet will give way before the ring drops off.
Luckily I don't forsee any problems with the ring permanently there.
Unless DOD comes out with a new 220 degree lens with different mount. Then
Your can try to make the following setting to get the best night videos:GS-600 bros, anyone can get night videos the same quality as those seen on DoD website? I can't, wonder if this is due to the menu settings?
(1) Contrast : Hard
(2) Sharpness : Hard
(3) Effect : Vivid
(4) EV : -1.7

bros, please remain alert at all times while on the road.
your speed is around 55-65KM/hr.
u are still so far away from the cab. and moreover, u can see it clearly that the cab is slowing down and filtering left.
even though i hate cab driver, but i couldnt figure out what's wrong with the cab (except the double line offence)
at least he turn on his signal light and speed up whenever there is a chance.

i think one should not brake hard on the 2nd lane, and cause cars behind to brake hard (evasive action), just to filter to the 3rd lane and exit the expressway. But I guess he realised he shouldn't have done and also saw another 'lobang' in front, therefore accelerated.
Well....I am still waiting bro Parking Idiot to inform me about getting it exchange.....my GS600 doesn't work since day 1

Bro, were you the one who sent me a mesg? Did you try on your friends' car to see if the same happens?
I'm also waiting for the missing items from this model from Parkingidiot. While mine works well, I think the night videos really sucks, still trying to hook up to my TV, but my LCD TV doesn't read the input signal
But I think Solidresources is giving very good advices. But I yet to verify for the night videos.
So got to wait for Parkingidiot to make the exchange....let him whether he can get it works....
Hmmm... that means power in getting into the unit but no recording? Did you use the right Micro SD card? I'm currently using a 16GB class 4 MSD card.yes....i am the one....tried everything......using the car adaptor...using usb cable to pc.....all no LED light....but somehow....the laser pointer works...

can you try to take out your memory card and then see whether there's LED light?
BTW, I am using a 1 GB micro SDHC..
back to topic... which model is the one with a much improved night video? i am currently 500.. and the night shoot is terrible.. round patches of red, orange, green (taillights & traffic signals).. especially in rain...

Tinted window is surely against the law. Why must tint until so dark?
LTA might see the driver's life leh. SO dangerous drivin at night.
On my way to work this morning, recorded this

Bro,
How do you mute the sound?
what happen to your set? Why sometimes so grainy (not clear) and sometimes so clear
so thats why its blur for some parts :)
My understanding that LTA cover the

Guess i might be wrong then
cheers
prob is, it doesnt work.
when i plug in, sometimes it records, sometimes it just shows the recording button blinking, but black screen.
a further check on the memory card, nothing was recorded.
i did a exchange with him for a new set, the same problem.
I'm driving a estima and he mentioned the problem could be due to erratic voltage.
he said there are NO other complaints from anyone who had bought from him.
can anyone verify?
he told me the inherent problem of this models and a few other models from DOD is that you have to manually press record button after you start the car.
the problem is, mine sometimes HANG.
no button i press works.i have to manually take out the battery, or press the reset button and turn it on again.
it's really frustrating.
i have also tried using the camera on Lexus, GTR, legacy and suzuki sx4.
ALL the same problem.when it powers on itself, black screen, and nothing happens, UNLESS i depress the reset button and turn it on again.
if the purpose is to plug in and forget about it, just drive untill you meet with an accident where there's a need to review the vidz, my advice is...dont count on these DVRs.
all i can say is, i wasted my $280.
Also, if you have only accessory power on (with the engine off) the camera will stay on. But if you crank again, it my lock up or power down. It's hard to explain, but basically the DVR cannot detect when power is applied - it can only detect change.
Make sure you don't stutter when you crank your engine. If you turn on the key power and the camera comes on, and you then crank, it may hang/crash the camera. My F500HD and HD720P both have this issue. Make sure you crank the key from the off position straight to START - don't pause.

estima is start button.
i dont do the 3 step start up like those driving gtrs.
basically, i step on brakes and start the car in ONE step.
even as i tested on a gtr using 1 step vs 3 steps,
ALL the same.
black screen, hang.doest record.
sigh....
FWIW, the HD720P, the F500HD, and the GS600 have all been running 100% dependable... I wish you lots of luck.
Sorry bro. I had the same issue with my F500HD when I first got it. I seemed to be very picky on the memory - and the fact that when it was new, I kept pulling the card out to watch the videos on the PC. I don't remember what i had for SD card initially, but at some point, it just started working without any issues. It may have been an SD card issue. I have learned not to pull the card with the power on, or to turn it on w/o a card installed. Other than that, it sounds like you might have a genuinely defective unit.
FWIW, the HD720P, the F500HD, and the GS600 have all been running 100% dependable... I wish you lots of luck.
Thanks.
i am using sandisk extreme sd card 16gb.
so i really dont think it's a card problem.
had also tried changing cards to no avail.
so those of you thinking of buying the f900L,
you have been warned.
dont waste your $.
I have the same problem for the F900LHD. I swop the 1st set but its still the same. It is very sensitive to the supply voltage.
So now I manually plug-in and unplug the USB cable from the charger plug whenever I drive. The recording device itself got no problem, only problem its sensitivity to voltage supply. Just do manually turn on-off like me and it'll work fine. After some time, u will get used to it.
Here is one incident recorded by my F900LHD :
I got no problem turning on the HD720 and F500HD using the normal key start. Only the F900LHD is giving me this problem. By the way, whenever I start my car, it turns on both HD720 and F500HD automatically. Only F900LHD, I manually turn on. DRS1100PRO is turned on 24/7, powered directly by car batt.
Hi, about the DOD products. My taiwaness friend tell me that the DVR is made in Taiwan, but the sensor chip and other accessories are imported from China. Is it true?
china, taiwan, to me, no diff.
products from both countries suck.
period.
No problem this time as it could start recording once power on.
However, I did not observe the blue LED after it ran for sometimes. The blue LED should lighted up after 3mins when the camera is exposed under the sky to receive GPS signal.
When I playback the video files, there was also no speed information imprint in the recorded video and the date in the video was at the default 1/1/2008.
Kudos to bro Parking Idiot for his great support and looks like more support is needed if I can't solve the GPS problem.
Any bro got similar experience in GS600 and how do you go about solving it?

I also discovered when I off the engine, the camera stop immediately. I thought I read the manual which says the internal battery will enable the camera to properly save the file and then shut down properly. I didn't see that it was done because when I played back the last video file, it just got cut-off immediately.
Another observation was that the camera won't save it's last date/time....every time it'll just start from 1/1/2008 12:00AM......
any model that can record even when engine is off? for 24/7 surveillance purpose..
any model also can... juz wire ur cam to direct batt power... (rmb to remove batt else e batt may bcom very due to prolong charging) i did mine this way.. but thinking to switch back to normal mode... but then think again, sometimes s--t really happens when u least expected it so rather stay as it is....
i am looking for one for 24 hrs recording for overnight parking for couple of day when i am overseas, which model is good for this function need one that can capture all angle, would wire to the car batt drain out the car batt?
The most secure way is to park ur car in another secure location, either at fren's condo or private property or company carpark.
Having a camera with battery that last a couple of days, too many wiring and extra batts. Park elsewhere is the best option. I do that when I go overseas. Switch off my 24/7 car camera and park at a private premises.

1. power modulation
2. motion sensor
3. fat32 i/o mgmt
so if you want cam for non stop recording, its fine.
anything else ...

Dishonesty wins, integrity loses
LAST week, while driving to work, my car was hit from behind at the junction of Jurong West Avenue 1 and Corporation Road. The rear of my beige Toyota Vios was hit by a dark blue Peugeot van.
The driver, a man in his 40s, apologised and said that his van had rolled forward while he was picking up something from the vehicle floor. He had forgotten to engage his handbrake, he said.
I checked the rear of my car while he kept assuring me that it was a gentle knock which could not have caused much damage. There were some slight scratches on the bumper and its right side was dislodged.
The driver knocked it back into place, saying it was just a clip. I asked for his contact number and wrote down his identity card number and vehicle plate number. He did not ask me for the same.
When I arrived at work half an hour later, a friend joined me to inspect the car more closely. She pointed to a 10cm crack on the rear bumper. I sent the driver a photo of the damage via Multimedia Messaging Service and said I would need to go to Borneo Motors for the repairs as my car was still under warranty.
He called and discouraged me from going to Borneo Motors as he was sure it would escalate the price of repairs. He asked me to send my car to his workshop in Kaki Bukit instead. I decided to go to Borneo Motors for an assessment and quotation first before meeting him at his workshop at 3.30pm.
At Borneo Motors, the motor claims assessor advised me that I had to replace the bumper and realign the boot door. The repair would take three days and cost $1,358. She reminded me that any repairs done at other workshops would void the car's current warranty on the repaired part.
She also cautioned me that there may be leakage problems in the car boot if repairs were not done properly.
I reiterated that to the driver. He questioned how it could be possible that the boot alignment could be affected by a gentle hit. "You must understand that I am only an employee, I don't earn much. I don't want to cause any trouble to my company (he was driving his company car)", he said repeatedly. He would pay only if the repairs were done at his workshop. In the end, we agreed to report the accident to our insurers. I would claim third party insurance from his company.
A surveyor's inspection was planned on Dec 30 and the day before, a staff member from Borneo Motors informed me that the third party insurer had rejected my claims as the driver's report was in conflict with mine. His report stated that I had reversed my car and hit his car. I was appalled.
I called his cellphone four times but my calls went unanswered. I used my friend's phone to call him and he picked up the call. He was stumped when I asked him about what he had stated in the accident report. He defended his stand and told me he would leave it to the insurance company to take care of it before hanging up on me.
I was naive and did not anticipate the driver distorting the truth to reduce his liability. With only his word against mine and no statement from independent witnesses, it is likely that I will have to withdraw the claim and pay the full amount of $1,358 myself. Otherwise, the losses to me will be greater in the long term if I claim from my own insurance policy, which has a 50 per cent no-claims discount.
If justice decides it will do me a favour this time, I may be lucky enough to find a witness to the accident through this letter - failing which, all I can say is that a man's integrity is priceless.

For a low few hundred dollars, you are insuring yourself against dishonest folks out there pulling a fast one.
It is really worth the investment, considering the adverse outcome that may result.
Just another example:
You are happily driving in your lane but a joker just cut in without care & bump into you.
If unable to settle on the spot, in the accident report to his insurance company, the other chap may said you WERE the one that cut into his lane.
End result: 50-50 claim.
If, however, you have the footage clearly showing the clown doing stunts, then I think there will be no contest & you will be able to claim the fella 100% of the damage.
Please think about it...

I just got a GS-600, did a test run using a 8gb Class 6 microSD. The only problem i had was the 1min recording clip. It is too short. Other than that, it works fine. Weird thing is sometimes the date is correct, time is wrong (i think info is via GPS). Other than that, need a better firmware for this device.

End result: 50-50 claim.
If, however, you have the footage clearly showing the clown doing stunts, then I think there will be no contest & you will be able to claim the fella 100% of the damage.
Please think about it...
Bro PI (sorry not parallel importer but parkingidiot) is a good adviser who has given me many good tips.
Folks can check with him about the cameras.
While it's good to have a camera install to protect ourselves, what we can protect is only the front and not the rear unless you also install a rear camera.
To make full use our cameras, I have a suggestion here: If you happen to capture accidents involving other car, post the video in MCF. This is for the innocent party who are being accused by the party at fault to have video evidence to proof his innocence. This may helps to prevent a fraudulent insurance claim and indirectly curbs the ever rising insurance premium.
For MCF mod consideration of setting up a thread on this?

I know Adrian does that...

But if someone were to hit u from behind, isn't it straight that the fault lies with the driver behind you? What are the special occasions?

Well....if the other party claimed you reversed your car or your car rolled back to hit his, then your video serve its purpose.
On the 8th Aug 2010 I was driving out from my carpark while at the entrance (just in time to stop at the stop line) I saw a red car coming from my left(round about) but the driver seems that he has no intention to stop before I can horn the red car hit onto my front driver side (near the head lamp) the driver came down and apologize saying that he was distracted and he did not keep a look out for any vehicle.
So I ask him how he wants to settle it he say he wants to claim his insurance I told him if he admits it is his fault he should just pay for my damage but he insist that he wants to send back to C&C for claim. So no choice I leave it to my car workshop for the claim and my workshop engage a lawyer to handle the case after telling them what the driver ?wants?.
On 25 Nov 2010 receive email from the lawyer that the other party insurance company refuse to pay citing it was my fault as I have encroach into his lane ( I have a little but it was due to a stationary car was park near at the carpark entrance therefore I have to keep a little to the right to pass it safely that was when the accident happen even thou I have stop at the stop line).
So I send the video footage to the lawyer and also the photo of the accident scene to contest the case and the other party insurance came back on the 14 Jan 2011 with 50% liability but I rejected it and told the layer what was my other option and he says I can try 80% but my chance was slim but I say it is ok go ahead and try 80% and today receive an email from my lawyer that the other party insurance has fully agreed to pay 80% and the case was resolved all thanks to the MO done by a kind brother here and I have just fix up the came for just over 1 week it is every cents worth spending.
So those that are still hesitating go and get a car camera and have it fix onto your ride as you will not know when you will need the help of the camera.

Your can try to make the following setting to get the best night videos:
(1) Contrast : Hard
(2) Sharpness : Hard
(3) Effect : Vivid
(4) EV : -1.7
My night videos still sucks, far from those shown on the website. What else can I do?

Do post-processing on your video. Use software like Cyberlink PowerDirector to reduce the video noise and sharpen the video.
any bros can advise why my video (using F500HD) is not sharp when it is uploaded to youtube?
When i view the raw (unedited) video on my PC, very clear and sharp.
thanks
bro...when you do your editing - you can choose to save the edited video in various resolutions - you should choose the highest res - of course, this means large file size and computer time. After that - when you upload to youtube, youtube will allow your vid to be seen in various res: eg 1080HD.. all the way down to 240. Remember, the larger the file size - want to -upload to youtube also takes a long time, unless your connection is like fiber-optic or hgh-bandwidth ADSL.
Can recommend any shop for me to have a 24/7 motion detect surveillance system to be installed in my car after seeing vandal strike. Not on high budget

Hi bro,
Great advise & I have downloaded/installed the software.
Have played around with it but cannot seem to mute the video leh.
I tried to mute the speaker button before conversion but the converted file still got sound.
Is that the way?
Can advise how?
Tks.
hi bro...sorry for this late reply (almost 2 months ago), somehow I missed your earlier post.
Not sure if you have managed to find how to mute the video already. There's an option on the right hand side. Under audio options, you can choose "disable audo" --> yes or no. If you choose yes, the audo will be removed from the video after the conversion. Have attached a screen shot for your reference.
Hope this helps.
Got a 8gb card for my DoD GS600, however, whenever i read the memory card, it shows 2gb used in video files, but a missing 6gb somewhere, which i can't see. Anyone has any idea how to view those hidden / protected files?
Why don't you get a 16GB CL4 MSDcard? I got it at $44 from SLQ. I can store about 3 days (or more) worth of clips on the SDcard, but depending on how often you drive in a day.

Bro, care to share which TP's email to send to report dangerous, socially-irresponsible, accident prone drivers on SG roads? I believe many has got no valid license. What is the link to your videos in youtube?
I have the DOD F900LHD dvr. It says in the manual that it can start recording when power is applied.
Can someone tell me how to set it up to do this?
Thanks
Car landed sideways on PIE. I think is a Honda stream.

The Fit/Jazz and WRX damage quite jialat
Encountered this Fortuner along AYE towards Jurong last year.
It was lucky that the antics of this driver did not cause any chain collision, given the sharp angle the Fortuner cut into Lane 1, just inches infront of the white Beemer.
