A wise decision if your COE still valid for at least another 2 years & the current ride don't give u problem. The COE is on downward trend & dun know when it will hit bottom:-)

I've gotten my COE after my first bid. It was a NG COE agreement. Just want to check how long usually do they take to process to collect the car?

Was initially told that it was this week, then when I went to settle some documentation, they said its next week.

Nope. That's not right. They would have to pay you the difference between the start of the loan and the date of delivery. Think you should write in to management. Don't think it's something SE have control but definitely the company.

    Hi guys,

I booked my XT yesterday after 3 months of hunting for a car! After a test drive it was love at first sight, such a joy to drive. The XT was the last car that I test-drove and I signed after 1 day of sleeping on it.

I really liked the jasmine green color on the manual, disappointed that it wasn't available. In the end went for the safe choice of silver.

May I ask what freebies you guys negotiated for? I got the front camera.

I got 5k discount for NG COE. As mentioned by others, solar film no camera. I ask for camera but SE say cannot. Moreover, he emphasized, 1st bid and already got the COE.

Unless u frequently park in tight spaces, may not be a bad thing not to have it. The frequent folding of the mirrors may cause premature wear and tear of the motor and mirror parts

I prefer to manually fold the mirror depending on the parking lot.
By auto fold, the motor will wear out faster for long term. I drive in and out a few times in a day.

Can, but there's too many points which expire in 2 years. Also the higher the value of the service voucher, the more points it eats. If you didn't get as freebie, and want it, it's about the only worthwhile thing to get.

    Hi,

My father & I have been looking at the Forester XT as a possible replacement for our 06 Cefiro. Took a test drive and found the power and acceleration superb (of course), visibility good and refinement above expectations.

    Some questions:
    1) OMV $18697, CEVS Surcharge $5000, then it should mean ARF is $23k and PARF Rebate is about $11800 after 10 years?

    2) AWD: does it mean when one tyre is punctured/replaced, need to replace all 4 or shave the new tyre to same diameter? We have been driving FWD cars all this while so that will need getting used to.

    3) does it have Start-Stop? Cause it seems like the XV has it.

    4) possible to get at least 10km/l in i-mode, about 50% city?
  • 29 March 2016 - 07:17 AM

Parf- you only get $9k back: Surcharge paid is gone. If discount on CEV, you kena claw back. Lose lose situation. Best is neutral.

Tyres: huh? Even FWD u shud get same diameter, no?

What I meant was, say tyres 50% worn and you get a puncture on rear left. Replace with 100% on rear left, with the rest on 50%, will the AWD and centre differential run into issues since the actual diameter of the 100% is larger than the 50%?

My qn is with regards to having to have same % worn tyres on all 4 wheels and not same specs 225/45/R18 which is a given.

My colleagues cars all have this feature and I think it is good to have for me.

Just look at the mirror when I am walking away from my car if I have doubt whether my car is locked or not..

You know, having 2 boys to look aftertheyalighted from the car and to make sure they are not "running into" anyupcoming carswill cause very big distraction and you often forgot to press the lock button or not realize if you already pressed the button or not! :lll._.:

Another option to changing all 4 tyres, is to just replace the spoilt one with a used one with similar spec and thread wear. Having said that, most tyres can be patched, unless gana puncture on side wall. Sometimes even those on side wall can be patched, but have to be patched from inside.

The folding servos are much more likely to die due to other reasons than actuating 90 degrees 10 times a day (stationary car) over long term. Normal vibration/shock from daily driving and the occasional bumps and hits are by far the main wear and tear contributor to the life of the servos.

Unless u frequently park in tight spaces, may not be a bad thing not to have it. The frequent folding of the mirrors may cause premature wear and tear of the motor and mirror parts

Hmmm,.... actually,.. if you see those safety vids,.. its recommended that the new tyres go at the rear.

Reason being is that,... if anything happens, you are able to control the front,.. and if the rear is on older tyres,.. it may "swing"..

Maybe AWD is different.... not sure.

To add to this question, where to get the boot scuff plate and rear bumper body kit ? I saw a black FXT at bugis junction basement carpark last Saturday and the add on parts looked really nice. Forgot to take pics...

I think should be new pair of tyres at the front which is heavier and hence more brake bias at the front and more grip needed

For this reason, front tyres tend to wear out faster for most cars

there is a reason why our brakes have more pots at front than rear..... I've tried changing only 1 tyre when remaining is already done 10k+, no issue. different brand somemore... and my car doesn'teven have traction control/stability control...

+1. If car model u ordered got ready stock, they will bid higher for u so that they can close the sales. If your car coming only in May / June, they will be conservative Becos the lower the COE price they can get, the higher their margin

For such high bhp rides, if can get 9km/h u already ahm chio leow. If u expect 10km/h u will have to look at NA, not xt. Even so, I wonder if na can get 10km/h

U mean Tucson 2.0 cannot be compare to Forester NA?
When the SE told u when the batch of car eill arrive for u is when they will bid for u at higher price

I have tested both the Tucson and Forester NA in recent months. Initial pick up and smoothness of drive, i think Forester is better. Do test drive both if not already done so.

After reading a few of the posts here, I now regret not going for the non-G discount. Sigh..

Looking on the bright side, you are guaranteed a delivery even if COE sudden shoot up. On the other hand, guys like myself, if eventually can't get a COE, will be heart ache that why did not sign up for guaranteed package

More than adequate, even in I-mode. I drove a 1.6L SX4 before Forester NA. Go test drive and confirm it yourself.

Thank you Cmdsea and Ewennst for your repllies. I also tested the XT. Wow. What a wonderful car. Just thought I may keep thinking of the consumption if I drive it.

You can check on LTA website if your bidding is successful. But the link is only active on bidding day.

Yes. i got two as well. Just found them in the central console storage bin. Cant remember if the SE mentioned them or not..

My car was registered and then i collected the next day. Wait one week is too long and is unfair to you. COE, Insurance and road tax all ticking away from the registration date. Make noise...

How to make noise? Have raised this issue to my SE for a few times. Initially told me that collection was on 31 March, then became 31 March and collection on 7 Apr. perhaps they prioritize for those who have waited longer. When did you book your car?

    Collected mine back in January.

If they can only deliver on 7th Apr then ask them not to register until 6 Apr. If your SE still say cannot, then ask to speak to sales manager and ask them to refund you cost of road tax + COE + insurance for the period of time after registration but before delivery. Nego from there....

MI not known for giving freebies. Solar film and first 3 servicing are standard items. Heard some managed to get front blackvue camera but this is rare. A price reduction of 2K to 3K off the list price is typical.

I like that Chris is v knowledgable about cars in general and in particular, Subaru as he's a Legacy owner. He's experienced and not in the least pushy. Very pleasant and he'll ask roughly when you intend to buy then send SMSes on price updates periodically. i have friends in the car trade (ex-colleagues with him) & he came highly recommended..
