the road is tempting to drive fast.

it feels like a highway until u reach the dam.

feels pretty normal to drive at 100-110 if no one is blocking u.

I used to frequent Seletar Link for work.

The only facilities at the end of Seletar Link are concrete batching plants, concrete prefab and stockpile sites.

So at night, there is practically zero traffic at Seletar Link, not even trucks, cos they stop work after certain timing, e.g 10pm.

As for Seletar West Link, which is the one that links SLE/TPE to the dam which is Yishun Ave 1, it's another nice road to drive on and I hope no speed cameras there la.

But I did drive across a chain collision scene on Seletar West Link before. Just before the junction to turn right to Seletar Aerospace Park. I was wondering, "Damn these idiots, road so wide and so light traffic still can chain collision".

    wah ok haha confused.

North link, after driving through there. always a layer of dust over my paint

And kana some paint scratched off by larger gravel pieces as well.

I only use it when going punggol.

The dust is generated by the stockpiling activities going on there.

If you were standing out there right in the heart of the action, just need to open your mouth and you can feel the dust in your mouth.

one bmw yesterday keep giving me the "look", keep swerving through traffic ... trying to get ahead ... want to show his swerving / change lane skill (ie lane 2 go to lane 4, then suddenly switch back lane 1 with low/moderate traffic). the worse part is ... we were going the same direction, and i think i pissed him off even more cos i drive like tortoise and still catch up to him at 5 or 6 different traffic lights ... lol

i should really extract out the video ... and add some yakety sax to it

Actually this sort of deserted road, practically no other vehicles, no pedestrians, why the fark do they really care if one speeds?

It seems they go out of their way to catch people who speed in a relatively safe way while largely ignoring offences (not just speeding) in more congested locations where enforcement might actually make more of a difference to public safety.

That's why I privately disparage TP and (especially) LTA white ants as RGOs. Revenue Generation Officers. Because that's a truer reflection of their overarching purpose.

If they allowed a race track, even a small one with a quarter mile straight (with breaking distance), then there would be no excuse at all for speeding and they can be as fascistically strict as they want. And don't give me that lame excuse about land area. Scrap a couple of stupid golf courses and let the old fogey Mini Stars do without their doddering excuse for a sport for a change. [rolleyes]

Almost got hit by a young lady driver in a RX8 while crossing road at junction next to Capital Tower. Green man came on and a group of us started crossing, halfway through I saw a car approaching at almost 70km/h and it made a turn towards us. She jam brake just 2 feet away from us pedestrians. Stooped down and gazed at her, she looked away. After the last pedestrian crossed, she drove off at breakneck speed, horning away like crazy. . . I wondered why because there was nothing in front of her. Seow ding dong! [hur]

From video cannot really tell leh. Cuz he could have crossed the line before red also and the car turning right too eager to turn. Not alert at all.

Hopefully the car going straight got side airbags. Or else he could have some serious injuries.

in terms of causality, if nobody cheong red light then no matter how incompetant the u-turn/right-turn is also won't have accident. cheong red light is the most evil of all traffic offences as it can result in the most devastating consequences. hope you can become the witness and ensure the culprit (who as usual will say he didn't see it's red light or brakes not working) receive his due punishment.

[rolleyes]

They allow a race track, but no one wants to pay for it. Those who want to race either go PG or a proper track. SGP? Where got fun?

If we complain some more, be prepared to see even more of such Speed Deterring Sentinels on our roads.

1000cc car also can reach 120km/h.. the matter is how fast it reach 120km/h....

Reminds me of an incident when I accelerate from slip road to join AYE on a clear Sunday afternoon. minimum traffic.

From left most lane I accelerate to the 1st lane to hit 95kph and maintain. Next thing I know a TP rex came up next to me and signal me to pull over. I did as instructed, and when I meet up with the TP, he has his rookie NSF attached with him. Claims that I am speeding and driving dangerously. I told him I merely accelerated to speed limit and I checked for traffic before moving across each lane and I was not even weaving the traffic, just straight accelerate check accelerate check..... He seem to be unable to come up with anything concrete to counter my explanation but to save face in front of his rookie tag on, he insisted the acceleration is dangerous and proceed to take down my details and ask me to wait for the TP letter. The letter never come. [:p]

Maybe he hit his quota for the month, but then again, even if it comes, I will appeal all the way to MP if needed. :a-shoot:

When GPS IU is out, no need photographic evidence liao.

GPS IU will be quite a while before it becomes practical.

Current technology still not ideal if you ever experience iffy reception of GPS radiowaves in areas of tall dense structure such as Shenton area or even some HDB area.

Currently the GPS unit is passive, ie. only using all the passively transmitted Satellite radio signal to triangulate your position based on the device in your car.

For GPS IU to work, the LTA must have some way to track each GPS IU device location actively. One of the way to do that is for the Singapore government to launch minimum of 3 satellites into orbit for Singapore's exclusive use.

I am not sure of the specs for the GPS IU. But the drones I flying, uses two system of GPS, the US one and Glonass. Thus making the drone capability of 0.5 to 1m accuracy. It will take off and return to home automatically within 0.5 to 1m within a HDB estate.

it is not the accuracy, rather the reliability and consistency of the positioning in relation to the varied surrounding.

Drone fly at higher elevation usually clear of overhead obstruction and buildings. GPS reception is unlikely to be affected.

My contention is also that of information tracking. In your drone and in car GPS units, the information of the position is stored in our device. No one else will know where you have been unless they switch on your device history.

Unless the LTA has a way to make the GPS IU transmit their location in real time to their receiver stations around the island, there is no way they can track each and every car at all times.

The car's crumple zone worked as advertised thus causing the crash to look a lot worse than it really is.

These construction company heavy weight trucks are exposed to severe abuse and poor maintenance, it might be the cause of wheel hub assembly broken down and lost control into crashing.

    OT abit here.

During one of my weekly runs at East Coast Park, from far see a group of filipino maids gathered around a stone table and bench. There are all sitted and yakking away, sharing finger food/fruits on the table. There are a few caucasian toddlers playing around them on the grass/sand patch. There are also 1 or 2 large dogs in leash tied to the table legs.

Saw the toddlers playing with the sand, soil, grass, touch the dogs...... next thing I know, one little girl went up to the her "guardian" to ask for some food apparently, the "guardian" just simply pick off some food from the table and hand it to her. That is without washing or wiping the toddler's dirty hands first. That already grossed me out... [mad]

But as I ran closer, the little girl accidentally dropped the food from her hand onto the soil/grass patch, the "guardian" just simply bend down, picked up the soiled food, make some cursory "dusting" action to the piece and passed it back to the little girl.... [furious]

I wonder if there has been any studies done in Singapore comparing the health status of toddlers under the care of own parents vs fully by maids.

I suspect they might have more cases of gastroenteritis and parasitic gut infection such as ringworms/tapeworms...

    :that-dood-is-up-to-something:

    Part 2:

Just this week, met with another irresponsible maid. When I got into my SUV and about to engage my reverse gear, I saw a maid talking on her phone from my right side mirror. She was facing the other direction so I decided to horn slightly to alert her before I would reverse. Only after my 3rd horning, she then realized and turned toward my car. I saw her moving into my rear blind spot bending slightly and I then thought she was walking a small dog and trying to pull it away from my reverse path. Guess ..... wow ... to my greatest surprise .... she then held a young Caucasian girl barely 2 ft height away from my reverse path. I was shocked for a while ..... then got out of my car and kaypo ..... blah .. blah .. her. This maid was horrible and not apologetic at all. I was not going to let it rest and called the security to find out she was from which unit. I requested the security to relate the incident to the child's parents. I will follow up with the security next week on this. That young child could have badly hurt or even lose her life if I didn't take that extra safety precaution.
Really cannot tolerate such irresponsible maid. I would have sent her home if she was my maid. Haiz ....

If the cam car let him hit and immediately call police to report injuries, the culprit will be in deep shit. Police has to respond due to accident involving injuries. Instead of civil case, it'll become a police case. If the culprit escape better still, become hit and run. On top of demerit points and fines, the big killer would be claims for all kinds of whiplash related specialist checkups and treatment. I don't think the culprit will be able to find an insurer after the accident.

Wonder if the cam car driver has already submitted this to TP haha... wanna know what kind of fine the VW will get... reckless driving, reversing on main road...

Funny how he didn't edit out the first part though, which show him being ungracious to the VW trying to filter out... IMO there was more than enough time for cam car to slow down, yes a slight inconvenience to the cam car but not a life threatening or dangerous move by VW to move out...

The VW driver probably unhappy with cam car honking him. Whatever the cause, the VW driver is in the wrong for this kind of unsafe behaviour on the road. Hope cam car driver submit video to TP.

These type of drivers need to be taken off the road. What did cam car do to deserve that? Noob or not does not really matter. TP need take a serious view of these type of road bullies and hit them hard as a deterrent that such a behaviour is not tolerated.

That aside, with a cam, I would let him hit and then report TP and claim that bugger gao gao. [:|]

i don't know whether to categorize this as a parking idiot or a reckless driver, since the person involved was just too impatient to wait his turn. yes - the mercedes was a little slower than usual to park, but good thing the driver wasn't super fast and reversed in to the audi WHILE he was still trying to park ... i was seriously wondering what's wrong with the audi driver ...

It seems to me that it all boils down to graciousness. Both drivers were being ungracious.

You'll notice also at the pedestrian traffic light people were crossing from the other side.

Seems to me the van was going a bit too fast for the conditions, AND that the VW didn't check properly.

    Both were being ungracious.

And the ultimate problem with an eye for an eye is that ultimately the whole world goes blind.

    - Impatient

    - lousy driving skills (since he had to do multi point turn and in the end still cannot squeeze pass the merc)

    - maybe impaired judgement...that is a popular watering hole.

VW driver is an idiot and wrong. I think we all can agree on that.

The issue here is that we should all practice defensive driving no matter if we are legally right or not.

Sometimes it takes years of driving to see the light...although admittedly some lao jiao driver still drive crappily.

i agree with you 100% but as a driver, once u see someone park ... bo bian right, just be patient .. u coming out while the guy is parking (no matter how blur he can be) makes it inconvenient for everyone. dunno why the audi so kancheong to come out sia ... lol.

yup there were 2 empty lots (could be the merc driver is not a lao jiao driver, but heck, we all had to start somewhere), but ill say this for the merc driver - when i signaled to park in front of him, he immediately reversed to occupy the audi's lot (i still reverse park, because i wanted to get as close to the kerb as possible). but at least the merc driver got common sense to reverse and occupy the behind lot and make it easy for me also ...

I actually feel really weird driving in slippers, but mine are rather thick. I tried driving barefoot for the short distance before, felt weird too, all in all prefer driving with my shoes on. They're the type with a super-thin sole and barely any padding at the toes. Still provides the protection of a shoe but with a lot of feel.

I really want to get a new pair of this type, but the barefoot shoe trend died off and I can't find any besides the awkward Five-fingers...

He braked to late to avoid a collision and he was denied space to do any manouvre by the slow poke biker. I hate this kind of bikers who straddle between lane at their own pace making 2 lanes their own which actually denies 1st and 2nd lane motorists the space to overtake. Want to straddle do it chope chope and when done overtaking please feel free to go to the empty lane and ride at your comfortable pace and not block other road users!

[thumbsup] Bloody strawberry generation. Do something useful with your life la.

SINGAPORE - Two friends who raced with each other along a stretch of road in Seletar in the early hours of New Year's Day last year (2015) were jailed, fined and banned from driving for taking part in a competition without a permit and for dangerous driving.

Ryujin Tan, 26, and Gordon Tan Zhi Liang, 27, had each admitted to two charges each of racing and dangerous driving along Seletar Link towards Punggol Way. Two other charges were considered during sentencing.

They were jailed for three weeks, fined $6,600 and banned from driving for 18 months on Friday (July 8).

Deputy Public Prosecutor Selene Yap said that Ryujin, who was driving his aunt's blue Nissan GTR, and Gordon, who was behind the wheel of his mother's red BMW, were in Yishun Dam on New Year's Day last year when they decided to race.

They were flagged off by one of Gordon's friends and switched lanes and made an illegal U-turn in the course of the competition.

After the first race, Ryujin told Gordon that he did not accelerate fully and requested another race, saying he would accelerate fully this time.

Ryujin then drove at a high speed along the extreme right lane of Seletar Link towards Tampines Expressway back to the start point. Both drivers made unauthorised U-turns and repositioned their cars at the start point.

The second race started at 2.12am. After about 800m, both cars made unauthorised U-turns at a gapand continued to race back to the start point.

A traffic police staff sergeant, who was part of a team conducting anti-illegal racing activities, captured Ryujin's car speed on the laser gun over a distance of 191.5m to be going at 146kmh.

The video of the races was played in court on Thursday when the duo pleaded guilty.

Ryujin's lawyer Desmond Tan said in mitigation that no real hazard was caused to anyone that morning, and that the only "spectators'' present then were his client's wife and the friends with whom he was hanging out before the race.

He said his client acknowledges that he had made an error in judgment by deciding to compete with the co-accused in a bid to determine who has the faster car.

Gordon's lawyer Mohan Das Naidu said his client was remorseful. Both men wanted to have some fun with their cars and hence decided to compete with each other.

The maximum penalty for taking part in a competition without a permit is six months' jail, a $2,000 fine and a driving ban of at least 12 months.

For dangerous driving, the maximum penalty is a $3,000 fine and 12 months' jail.

I don't think the other biker is a slow poke biker la. He was more cautious and looked out for traffic infront. Notice his speed was higher in the beginning and was overtaking cars at a decent pace. Only slowed down when lane 1 slowed down. He was practicing defensive riding. He moved further to the left and only sped up after he overtook the broken down taxi.

maybe.....but the taxi aint travelling that fast and the 1st biker had 2nd thought and indecisive about overtaking after he saw that the vehicles in the 1st lane had come to a stopped resulting in the 2nd biker's collision. 1st biker didnt even looked behind eventhough the collision happened very close behind him. My friends and I had purposely done this kind of manouvre in some occasions on rivals....but that was intentional! The 1st biker was oblivious to what was happening behind him and i doubt he saw the 2nd biker behind him coming at speed trying to squeeze through. Of course 2nd biker have to share most of the blame but that 1st biker is like a road hogger eventhough he was straddling the lane. Sorry lar.....have not been on a bike for close to 20 yrs so my interpretation maybe out of sync with the riding community.

No signal, sudden change and speeding faster than a normal car....thats why they are called tipper truck.....the odds are heavily tipped in their favour in an accident! Others will surely get crushed and trampled!

Yes bro, i agree with u.. many of them in the West speed and cut each other like sports cars, with loads on their backs.. no wonder some end up in drains..

The law must be harsher on those with greater impact on other road users, and these trucks would be the first choice.. penalties meted out for errant truck drivers must be harsh enough to discourage them from being reckless like now.. jail and revoke of driving licence would be best,,

exactly. These few days have straddlers and when i drive past them they shake head...what gives?? wtf...

The problem with some bikers are they always feel it is their right to lane split and give all sorts of justifications to do that. My take as a rider, wanna lane split no need to give any reason, do it at your own risk assessment. I personally dun like to lane split a long stream of vehicles as it leaves me no escape route at all plus I get unnecessary pressure from fellow bikers below. Msians bikers love that however n I m puzzled with their mindset til this day

But when I travel in the centre of the lane gg with traffic flow, I do get a tailgaters in whatever lanes I m in. To counter that defensively, from 2 secs rule, I create 4 secs rule to make up that 2 secs rule that silly tailgater who did not give me. Well I do admit some will call me a b**tard here creating a far larger distance with the vehicle in front of me, I am creating a safer distance so that I can do a quick acceleration to a safer adjacent lane to get away & probably piss that silly tailgater off. Some tailgaters are plain habitual anyway.

After about 800m, both cars made unauthorised U-turns at a gap and continued to race back to the start point.

146kmh also call racing? these 2 clowns jin xia suey..

Is it my eyes or the pedestrian signal portion is red at the point of crossing?

Don't get me wrong, the bus should have stopped if the light was red whether there was anyone crossing or not.

For the man on the motorised kick-scooter, if he wanted to enjoy the privilege of using the pedestrian crossing, at the least press the button for crossing. Whether he should have dismount or not is up for debate.

Jialat. The driver should have slowed down when approaching stationary bus.

I've seen many cases where people just dash across the road after alighting from the bus. And they usually do it in front of the bus. I don't know why they do it but they must have felt invincible that the bus could protect them from other vehicle.

Anyway, pity the driver. Most likely he will get fine from TP.

Full speed impact. The cam car did not brake until impact.......

When driving pass an obstacles like a stopped van or bus, I make it a point to look at the hidden spots where a person can dash out.

My right foot will be off the accelerator and positioned just touching the brake pedal. It might not prevent an accident but it will shave milliseconds off the reaction time in such classic case......

Please remember to drive defensively for sake of yourself, your loved ones at home and everyone else...

agree for your 'high class toyota' , that you have to be more careful as knock and run over ppl, wun feel one....scary :a-confused:

I had a similar brush in the evening near my home while picking up my wife from the bus-stop.

Was turning right at junction when it was green in my favour and the pedestrian light was already red.

I crossed the junction carefully and while approaching the already red pedestrian crossing, a boy on a bicycle dashed down the slope and crossed the junction while I was a picking up speed to cross.

The boy and bike brushed the rear left fender. I quickly stoppedat the side of the road and ran to see the boy whom had taken off.

Luckily, 2 pedestrians caught up with him before he could get away and they told him off in my presence that the light was not in his favour and he should have stopped and waited and push the bike across instead of riding across.

I heaved a sigh of relieve and thanked them and left with a scratch on my car.

I think sch principals should show this video during assembly (still got such thing?) to reinforce road safety.

But hor knowing softie parents these days, sure will complain about the content traumatizing their fragile snowflakes kind of nonsense.

My heart skips when I see the video.

For those who bash the driver, I think its really not right (Just my own view).

My reason are as below :

    1. the driver was not speeding

    2. No matter who is it, the reaction time is really too short and can see the driver did try to brake ASAP thus the lesser impact

    3. The driver did get out of the car, from the auntie who have eye lvl contact and the direction she facing when talking show the driver should be somewhere outside beside his door.

We are not sure if he was calling the ambulance or what thus we should not just jump to conclusion and said its his mistake.

    4. Some ppl may due to shocked react a little slower after the incident

Hope the boy did not have major injuries and learnt his lesson of not dashing across the road in future

Anyway everyone have their views and just my 2 cents worth

I empathise with the driver too. Why? Because 10 years ago i had analmost exactaccident like this. That timehad 2 ladies waiting to cross a traffic light which was in my favour (not theirs). Then suddenlyone saw the opposite oncoming bus and decided to dash in front of the bus to intercept it, most likely that was her intended bus. The time she decided to dash across was so sudden, I wasn't able to brake in time to avoid. But luckily my ebrake was so effective I merely "tripped" her onto my bonnet. So the impact was only her face when she fell face first on my bonnet, she did not fly like the boy.

So then came the interesting part. Every passerbysthen came to me and started scolding me for reckless driving, some even accused me of beating red light. I had no time for them as I wasbusy checking on her and also calling ambulance for her and callingpolice. As you can see in the video, this boy most likely saw his bus coming and trying to dash across in front of it. Yes its unfortunate and hopefully nothing serious happen to the boy. But clearly you see the boy was at fault and he learnt a painful lesson. Say now its not a car but a motorcycle and the motorcyclist flip andhe get a even serious injury, will the same driver bashers still side with the boy?

Its human nature to defend someone suffering but to start bashing the driver for unsafe driving I think we have to put ourselves in his/her shoe first.

For my case, I calmly told the TP what happened and said light was in my favour and asked him to ask the friend of the lady. Because she was waiting to cross while her friend decided to dash, so if she was truthful enough she would agree I was not lying. The TP asked if I knew other witnesses, I told him to ask the bus driver. The bus driver mostly like saw what happened especially when a woman on the opposite side trying to dash across to board his bus. Furthermore, she would not need to dash across if the light was in her favour because the bus would have to stop anyway.

In the end, I was free of any charges and the lady got a letter of warning for indiscriminate crossing. This was at the time where there was no in car video to prove my innocence. I am glad this driver has one.

Just this morning, I have someone "jay riding". Someone riding a motorised wheelchair was crossing the traffic when the lights were in my favour. Can't she wait for a few minutes to cross rather than to take the risk.

    Gone are the hey days....

Nowadays very desolated. Minimum caretaking. Alot of mosquitoes. Even if you bring your kids, it will just be an empty riding park with simulated roads and structures.

But the main idea about Road Safety Park is to have the "drivers", "riders", "pedestrians", NPCC cadets pretending to be TP to expose the chewren to simulated road conditions and to teach and show them the rules and safety tips in practise.

road crossing is a habit to be conditioned into the child's brain, no point telling one thing and do the other. Saw many time parents pulling the child hand to jaywalk although the kid say 'teacher say cannot'.

even now when my kids are already older, every time i try to jaywalk sure kena scolding from them.

sigh, you are one of those rare parents who educate your kids to be responsible for their own actions. [thumbsup]

Nowadays, I observe that more and more parents are blaming everything else that happens to their kids. They are just not willing to take the responsibility that it is their own failed upbringing of their kids, by either setting bad example or simply bochap, that resulted in certain behaviour in their kids.

I had a teacher who shared with me that a school boy in sec 2 broke his fingers when clowning on the chin up bar during recess, and the parents blame the school for his injuries. The thing is that the form teacher has called and informed the mom many times that the boy is behaving in such a way that will endanger his friends and himself by clowning around in class and PE lesson. The mom response was epic.... My son is expressing himself and making his class relax by clowning around, what is wrong with that? the school shld understand his kind intention..... [bigcry][bigcry][bigcry]

and yet when shit happens, she goes arnd blaming the school. The dad even better, simple asked, what can I do? you school shld do something abt it....

Such parents shouldn't have kids at all imho.

No offence, but if driving defensively that shouldn't have happened. Always expect other road users to be complete idiots, and you'll rarely be disappointed.

In this case, the actions of the car were fairly easy to anticipate.

Also, ESP shouldn't be kicking in on a dry road. Maybe it's time for a tyre check. But anyway, if you plan a little ahead, emergency manoeuvres may be avoided, and ESP, ABS etc. won't be activated.

Just some pointers, not meaning to criticise. Anyway, good that there was no accident, and since the guy apologised, let it go. I would.

    Just out of curiosity ---

I notice you were travelling at 70 km/h - what is the speed limit on that section of road?

    60km/h

IMO, the car didn't just exceed the white line. Seems like he didn't even stop at the white line. From the rear camera, can see that the car exiting was taking up the whole left lane already.

The driver is very careless and only care to reach his destination. Driving in hdb area should be under 50km/h. Obviously he is speeding and distracted. If the boy is my Son, sure I give the driver Teruk Teruk! Be a responsible driver not hurting the minor on the road. Drove on road for more than 25 years, always look out for pedestrians regardless they are on the zebra crossing or not. Hitting someone on the road should be guilty and not try to find fault on the poor kid.:pissed-off: the impact he did is high as the kid might have internal bleeding which might cause him to coma stage on next few days. Just pray he is alright!!! If he dies, driver, all the best to you!!!

seriously? Did you see the video? The kid dashed across from a blind spot! There is no way the driver could have averted the accident. The onus is on the boy not to have crossed the rd in front of a big vehicle and not watching for traffic.

My son been there as a TP during one NPCC outing. A few primary skool kids called him uncle! LOL!

After watching the video, yes I think it is hard to react in time to avoid hitting the boy, but what happens after the boy is hit? I read that the boy got up and went away before the ambulance came. Did he suffer any major injuries, did the driver alight and offer help, did he report the case to the police, did he take the the contact of the boy, or did he just drove off?

Yes, I agree is a matter of wrong time wrong place for the driver, bad bad luck is all I can offer him/her as consolation. However, from the footage of the video, and what I have read, it seems like the driver did not offer help to the boy after the accident. Is this correct?

I think the law state that even if we hit an animal, we are to alight and offer help, otherwise it would be a case of hit and run ( I hope I am correct, please correct me if I am wrong), and it is a human being we are talking about here, and a young helpless one. Never mind the fact that the boy was the cause of the whole incident, the driver did hit him and he flew away.

If this case was not reported, and now that it has gone public, would the police classified this as a "hit and run" case?

I hope the boy learn his lesson, and help to spread the message to his friends and mates on road safety. This also remind us all drivers again, please alight and offer assistance if we ever hit someone, human or animals alike. Never mind who is the cause, we need to make sure that life is not endanger before anything else, less we get sleepless nights and nightmares for the rest of our life...

I wonder what you will say if you are the unlucky driver to encounter a jayRUNNER dashing into the path of your car and you knock him/her down being unable to avoid the collision.

From the video you can conclude the driver was speeding. Fantastic CSI skill. Please go sign up to join Traffic Police.

Lastly, kindly stop your senseless preaching, which is totally irrelevant to the case in point.

Looks like there are many angry drivers on the road. I believe we have forgotten the basic traffic rules on the road. Though been driving daily on the road. Courtesy and good road sense are still the main core to get home safely to my family. Without harming others, I can sleep better every night and see my kids at home. Being a safe driver is important, please be mindful of words use online. If not, you are no different from the careless driver...please repent before it is too late!!! Life is short, it is important for us to do the right thing, not get things right. I have received multiples ugly words from you guys, no worries, it is not getting me agitated but allow more people to knowthat good social etiquette online is significant and we are moving away from it. not difficult cos it was a small boy that you hit, first reaction is quickly step out to see if he was ok. no need to be on hindsight.

I mentioned before a bike knock me from the back and he fell, my first reaction was get out to see how bad was he although he keep apologising. I didn't even bother with the damage on my car and check his bike as ok and if he need to go hospital.

I think in this case, the speed at which the car is traveling is only factor for how badly the kid will be injured.

At a reasonable speed of 40km/hr to 60km/hr, I believe no driver would be able to stop in time. Even if it is a manual cyclist encountering such situation, I doubt they can avoid running down this kid.

Lastly, I don't think the car was speeding even the video makes it look like it was. The car was probably in the midst of accelerating. The kid appeared in front of the bus at the 0:02 mark, impact was at 0:03.

It would be reasonable to assume that the driver only noticed the kid half a second later and applied brakes immediately. That's just half a second of reaction time for the driver. Unless the driver is expecting something to appear out of nowhere from the bus, then I certainly, think the driver reacted reasonably well under the circumstances. The powerful braking also probably save the kid's life.

Let's be reasonable and say that pedestrian has to do their part. The kid is as good as crossing the road blind-folded and leave the consequences to God to decide. And he was lucky. No amount of care by drivers is going to help to avoid such accidents. All road users must do their own part. Don't leave your part to others to take care.

That said, I wonder why the driver didn't go up to check on the kid he just ran down. Too shock?
