Haven't owned a Merc personally but have heard not too flattering stories from friends and associates. Especially the late 90s to early 2000 models. Those were really horror stories in their own right. Most of them changed over to Lexus, Jaguar or BMW. Not that BMW is that fantastic anyway.

Apparently the latest ones are quite okay, so as to say but the reviews are still mixed. Personally, I would stay away until I am quite sure they have gotten over their slump. From personal observation, directors and higher management send their contis to workshop more often than regular guys driving Hondas, Suzukis in my company.

Anyway, in terms of reliability, Japanese (Made in Japan) and Korean cars seems to do better than contis in general. I noticed the more electronics, the more chances of break down.

i concur with my experience with army vehicle...
and they can break down for no reason..

but you drive a Z4 shouldnt be that bad bah.. plus i think directors and higher management might actually clock more miledge then regular staff and they more money to send car for servicing. i know of some who wait for 15~20K then do 10K servicing and the trend go on from there.

Had 2 so far. the 3 series had some naggling problems but nothing major. Mostly stupid warning lights that don't go off and needs to be re-booted. And funny sound from suspension on wet days. Some plastics from the interior cracked, broke etc. Had it for 5 years and around 150k km. The Z4 no problem so far, touch wood.

But compared to the Toyota Corolla (Hipporolla) and Honda Crossroad, those 2 were really hassle free driving. Zero problems at all. So for the premium paid for the BMWs, it becomes more evidence.

That said, I still prefer contis for the drive, if not anything else. laugh.gif

    How come got teachers pledge:

We, the teachers of Singapore, pledge that:

We will be true to our mission to bring out the best in our pupils. (even in the bedroom)

We will be exemplary in the discharge of our duties and responsibilities. (discharge semen?)

We will guide our pupils to be good and useful citizens of Singapore. (yes, make more babies, each tem well)

We will continue to learn and pass on the love of learning to our pupils. (er, pass love or make love)

We will win the trust, support and co-operation of parents and the community so as to enable us to achieve our mission. (THRUST or trust
