The latest price drop of $3k vs COE drop of $1k makes it tempting...

That's mean MI are expecting the COE to drop further.
    I am still waiting. ..

I'm still quite curious why Singapore forester is even cheaper than cvr, RAV4, outlander, xtrail, cx5, sorento, tucson
But in other countries is other way around.

That's why get forester seems like a better deal in Singapore..

This is the first time I saw anybody so desperately and ridiculously insecure over his purchase of a car, not to mention the process of selecting a car.

Six Sigma? LOL, I didn't know organisations of any distinguishable scale still practice it. It's as relevant and 3.5 inch floppy disks in today's environment.

The Forester XT is an awesome car for its price-point. It's definitely topping my shopping list when I look at replacing my car next year.

    wow.

i didn't know General Electric is considered a SME nowadays. lol

    lucky i left.

    erm.

    fair statement. lol

anyway, alot of black belts aren't worth the toilet paper that their certs were printed on.

You assume that you are the only one who has looked at the other angle and perspective, which you have obviously discarded, you made your purchase decision. But you do not have sufficient mental flexibility that other guys may have needs and requirements different from yours.

Your outcome is already pre-determined - your choice is the best choice, and you hope to convince more people to adopt your best choice in order to endorse you. Unfortunately, from where I can stand, you have made a niche choice that few other people in this forum are taking. I can see retirees, soccer moms, the budget conscious penny-pinching types being the ones who will buy the 2.0i, but they usually aren't the ones who frequent internet forums.

All you need to do, is ask your SE, how many 2.0i are being sold in comparision to the XT?

By the way, they accept Six Sigma Black Belts with language skills like yours? Your English is rudimentary at best - a secondary school student writes better than you.

And isn't Six Sigma just another fancy name for Quality Improvement?

Does MI gives good trade in prices?

I am not sure how good their trade-in prices are but I know they're not the worst.

When I was searching around for my new ride previously, the worse trade-in offers I got mainly comes from some of the PIs I approached, Komoco, C&C (Mitsubishi) and Performance Motors (bmw).

I think you are not looking at the latest model. The small one are use as trip computer, 4 wheel drive information.

Oh OK. Must have been my impression from the USA reviews. Just sat in my friends Sorento. The screen is bit small. OK to view information but when using as reverse camera, you do have to strain a bit to see.

I'm not really obsessed with the size of the lcd. But think important point is that the reverse camera screen must be big enough to see things. Cos most reverse camera the resolution is not very good. Not really a go pro lol.
I felt the Sorento one is quite small considering how big the dash is. Lol.

Auto dim mirror may not be relevant to a suv. I do not recall any incident when someone's head lights were blinding me so far.

If you like the wiper slow.. the wiping speed will drive you crazy.. But on heavy rainy days, it does help as I experienced last week once a big splash of water on the opposite side on windscreen and the auto wiper very quickly wipe it off in a split second.. after this I never complain the wiping speed.. haha

It's voice down to whether you prefer a 2.5NA or 2.0turbo now with a price difference of just 2k.

When I book in September this year, the price difference was 8k.. so consider a smaller sunroof, higher tunnel in the back seat, no turbo, and OF COURSE HIGHER PRICE of 8k.. I took the forester.

Now with 2k price more, if you think you don't mind no turbo, then the Outback have better stereo system, better sound insulation (forester sound proof not bad, I Think its inadequate initially but after sitting in a friend's Audi A4 on Saturday, I think it's as quiet or quieter), bigger boot, wider body, and not as common.

If I were to book a Subaru today with 2k price difference, I will most probably go for Outback overlooking the higher tunnel at back seat and smaller sunroof as one of the reason is also Outback looks more stunning from the back than Forester.

Guys, your Forester have any headlight condensation issue?? I was reading the other Japanese car thread, wah their car have condensation issue, power down issue, CVT issues.. and all of them say it's normal, common for this model, other previous models also have... my precious 2 cheap small 1.6l & 1.5l car also done have such issues. Sounds bizarre to me.. sibei heng I never buy the cousin brand.

So I did some extra spratying of water today while washing my car, spray water (lots of water thru water hose) at various angle.. no water seepage or condensation issues leh. Kinda glad never had such issues after driving the car for close to 6500km.

    What about you guys?

My average FC is arouns 10.5km/l for a non-turbo. My driving pattern is mixed and no complain attaining this FC figure.

The car is really comfortable place to be in. My parents, wife, children, friends all share the same compliments. My sister who dont usually comment about cars, told me that Forester feels very stable and quiet as compare to my previous cars after fetching her from airport to her home in the west.

I suggest if one can wait afew more months for the facelift Forester that claim 16km/l by Subaru Japan.

FC is one aspect of ownership..

For me, if buying a above 100k vehicle that can be used for 10 years, should be generally satisfied with the car.

Good FC cars nowadays at below 130k range, and generally have vezel, Axio, Altis, Vios, Attrage, Note, Jazz etc.. however most of these cars are below 1600kg in weight and below 180bhp.

For similar weight vehicles that are price around $130k. only have Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Xtrail, Nissan QQ2.0, Ford Kuga.. around 140k, Hyundai Tucson, Chevy Captiva..

All of them don't offer permanent AWD, and 240bhp.. and their FC are also same same as forester in actual driving.

So for permanent AWD to have average 8+-9+km FC.. it's actually quite good IMHO..

sat in a 2.0NA during test drive and seriously its not that quiet.

    NVH is at most average.

Think Hyundai Tucson or Nissan Xtrail quieter.. if looking at cabin insulation, many choices out there.

Have explored this option extensively. the original subaru auto dimming mirrors (coupled with the dimming side mirrors) is the most ideal....

in short yes, you can get the US auto dimming mirrors, and it comes with its mounting too~ however electrically speaking, the local foresters does not comes with the pre-laid cables like the usdm foresters... so have to tap power source from nearby cables.

same same for the aftermarket options. :D

MI is selling Clasani undercoat for anti-rust and sound dampening. I forgot to mentioned that my ride had this applied during 1k servicing.

My comments on the sound proofing earlier was actually before applying the coat.

For those who are interested about the sound dampening coat, MIapplied on the undercarriadge and wheel arches. It was applied after the anti-rust coat.

How effective is the sound dampening? From the ears of my daily passengers, they didnt detect any difference. As for the driver, I find the tyre noise on rough surface has lessen but I hear more wind noisetravellingabove80km/h.

I'm guessing it will help SE or MI's end of year figures... Coe clocks starts ticking once the car is registered. Depending on how far apart the registration and collection, you stand to lose some days of your coe ownership.

Typically registration and collection are not far apart. Most cases within days of each other. Your decision. :)

Try AUTOBAGS they sell the WindshieldRepair Kit.

I use it before on my old car and itseal well for 4 years without any further crack being seen.

But you have to seal it immediately once the crack started, as thisto prevent water went intothe crack line

which thesealant will has difficulty to cure.

A lot depends on whether your car is in SG. If it is already here, it should be in a week or two.

They need to install all those things as the car is quite bare when it came.

What did your SE says? He is your best source of information.

He said register 30th December and get the car only in January 8th or after. Usually the practice is a day or 2 difference.

You are right, they are just want to hit their year end figures and I think that is not right. If they want to do that than there should be some form of remuneration or advantage to owners affected by their planned reporting of financial numbers.

I do believe that under accounting principal they need to acknowledge only if delivery has been accepted within that month/year, so I guess they assume that registration is a form of delivery.

Allow me to vent today bro. Driving my sick wife and daughter to childcare when I discover loud sound from rear left and stopped the car. The tyre was totally flat with something like a big staple punching two holes into the side wall.

Luckily there was a petrol station like 400 meters away. Limped the car there but alas the air pump was out of service!!! Dropped my wife and she took a cab to send my kid to school and to see doctor herself. I went into the petrol station and saw those canister for inflating sealing. Bought one at 19 and managed to inflate the tyre to like 3/4 of its usual shape and I slowly drive to loyang Stamford which was like 3.5km away.

Met a kind Indian guy called andy who assess that it can't be patch and he recommend to change but he realize he had no stock. I was feeling damn panicky as I was aware of the odd size that forester xt use. I told him to just see if he can patch or inject anything to let me drive back to Subaru.
He done that with a smile and when I wanted to pay, he said its free. Thumbs up to Stamford. Didn't know we can expect such personal touch from big entity like them.
Called Subaru and was received by a unsympathetic lady who just repeating today car very full may not have slot, she didn't know if tyre had stock as well as the service advisor is outside. As my patch is temporary I try to hasten her to confirm if there is stock again came the unsympathetic voice that she can't do anything. 15 mins later, they call back and say no stock! How can u choose to use odd size tyres and yet dun carry any stock. Tell me stock only in after Xmas!

Damn pissed and I looked up Bridgestone dealers and call one by one . Finally one had stock but was going at $300 I had no choice but to On Him. Now I am at a coffee shop eating prata while waiting for them to get stock from somewhere .

This is why I had plans to change the tyres of FXT if I bought it... so I can use a more common size.

Although I ended up deciding against the FXT, I'm still changing the stock tyres of new car after collection, because again I prefer to use a more common size and a better tyre.

CVTs usually have a droning/whine sound especially when being pushed with revs, but I was under the impression that most people found the Subaru Lineartronic surprisingly quiet for the technology... Or at least, most reviews I read seemed to mention a lack of CVT drone, but I guess that doesn't strictly mean no noise at all.

When you purchased the bridegstone HL400 $300.. it's not they are ripping offvyou, but these Dueler tyres are really so expensive. Saw the Tirerack pricing and it's one of the most expensive tyres.

There are 225/55r18 tyres from other brands but it's really difficult to find this size.. The more common size are 235/50 or 235/55 or 245/50, 245/45.

So I've changed out the tyres out to 235/50 already bec don't wanna take an odd size.

On a preventative perspective, I has a small instant tyre inflator that's always placed together with my FXT spare tyre.. then no worries about being stranded, just pump air and go.. at past can pump spare tyre and changed out if the stock tyre really cannot hold air (99% of car owners never pump air into spare tyres anyway)

For me is really about cost. If change to other sizes, will need to change all 4?

thanks for the advice, the canister i bought works quite well and seems to have a foam inject. not sure if it will render the tyre unable to be patch for normal puncture but for my case side wall puncture and already the rigidity compromised as it was totally flat before i discover it and limped back to the petrol station.

but the tyre inflator u all talking about air canister or those 12 volt pump?
